A lot of people bring up Conan when discussing fantasy barbarians, on account of him being pretty much the mold from which the archetype is cast. A lot of people will then argue that his feats in the books are more like those of a Fighter/Rogue multiclass.
Here's the thing, though. We know in real life that "barbarians" in rough environments gravitate towards just trying to live safe and comfortable lives much like everyone else, rather than being Forged By The Wilds into ubermenschen or whatever. Conan kind of sidesteps the issue entirely. It seems to be in the books almost that "barbarian" is more of a lifestyle and philosophical outlook based around self-actualization, embracing hardship, and embracing instinct and direct confrontation rather than the circumlocution and deliberating of "civilized" men. Cimmerians are less a nation of meatheads that follow the dude with the hugest muscles and more a culture of mountain ascetics (Conan is noted as being a weirdo by their standards for not being a dour teatotaller).
He fights with nimbleness, frequently deprived of armor and fighting with whatever weapon he has to hand--nameless, functional weapons rather than having a special signature sword or magical artifacts. He's an excellent climber, swimmer, athlete, etc. His fighting style is based on pure honed instinct rather than refined or rigid technique--decades before Bruce Lee would counsel fighters "Don't think, Feel."-- and he frequently battles through incredible physical, mental and supernatural challenges through this fact of being a man of action rather than thought, despite being shockingly well-learned (there's a section in one book where he brings up a philosophical quandry concerning solopsism, which he's long since considered and discarded as irrelevant). He'd likely never put it this way himself, but his greatest accomplishments are all derived from the fact that he's honed his mind to a razor's edge and then deliberately empties his mind to absolute stillness whenever advantageous.
Therefore, any discussion of him being a Barbarian vs. him being some kind of Fighter/Thief is wrong on both fronts. By any metric, Conan is a monk.

This is the hotcocaineharrington anon Saw the conversation about Eddie (opposite of drugs) munson. Teatotaller comes to mind but is too stuffy for Eddie. I think 'Eddieprohibitionmunson' would be fantastic My favourite trivia I ever heard about martinis is that during prohibition you could get a 'dry dry' martini. Standard martinis have vermouth which was $$$ I guess. A dry martini had less vermouth. A dry dry martini, the bartender would leave the cap on the bottle then shake teh sealed bottle over the martini then call it good.
eddieprohibitionmunson lmaooo thats priceless 😂😂
and omg that's so funny i love that 😂

Teatotaller says it won’t be influenced by Neo-Nazi protest outside of Concord cafe
https://www.concordmonitor.com/NSC-131-protests-drag-queen-story-hour-at-Teatotaller-51362496 These people claim that a person in a costume reading to kids is harmful to the kids, yet think screaming white supremacist Nazi gang thugs is fine for the kids.  It terrifies them, which is the point.  Cause the kids and parents so much fear they won’t go to these events.  As I posted about this the…

15/12/2022:International Tea Day!
It may look ODD for a person like ME a TEATOTALLER to write on this THEME! I do not say taking COFFEE or TEA is bad- but bad enough! Here is my TALE on the TOPIC GOOD BYE TO COFFEE! A spiritual leader of the highest order, who came down to mundane world of things and as ‘obit-er dictum’, dwelling on a subject for a few minutes made an addict to coffee / tea till nineteen years of age ,turn…

Conversation
Jeremiah: Also Jeremiah has been occasionally been dropping truth bombs at the party.
DM: Hmm. *already seeing where it's going*
Jeremiah: Mostly directed at, picking at Tark to be honest.
DM: Why would you do this? Why would you do this thing?
Marigold (OOC): Apparently no sense of self-preservation.
DM: Apparently not.
Hunt (OOC): Apparently with a Wisdom of 16, he doesn't have a sense of preservation.
Tark (OOC): But also, *cuts out* if anything he says is gonna like affect Tark in any way.
DM: True.
Tark (OOC): Cute. Tark has two siblings and one's a sister. There's nothing. There's nothing this frog can say.
DM: And they're both younger than him.
Hunt (OOC): Mm-hmm.
DM: You grew up without any kind of dignity.
Tark (OOC): So there's like no way. Yeah, no. That's the reason why Tark's the way he is, no dignity whatsoever.
Hunt (OOC): Alright, so what kind of 'truth bombs' has Jeremiah been dropping?
Jeremiah: Mostly is like, stuff like his actual opinon on people, like for instance; he really doesn't like Tark. Never liked him, thinks he's garish and a fool. He thinks that Hunt is a prude and a teatotaler.
Hunt (OOC): *never having heard that word before* What was that last part?
Nathaniel (OOC): *thinking Jeremiah was still on about Tark* I'm sorry, a 'prude'?
Jeremiah (OOC): Yeah.
DM: That's so far from the truth.
Jeremiah (OOC): No, Hunt.
-various 'ohs'-
Jeremiah: Hunt is a prude and a teatotaler. (OOC): I forget what...
Marigold (OOC): You mean like teatotal sober.
Jeremiah (OOC): Yeah that.
Marigold (OOC): Yeah.
Hunt: And Hunt's trying to figure out where the prude thing came from. She's not gonna ask, but she's wondering how he got that impression.
Tark: We're all sitting there exchanging looks behind the frog's back like, 'what?'
Marigold (OOC): [in chat] the frog is a aphobe
Nathaniel (OOC): [in chat] if jeremiah is being aphobic on main I really will incinerate him
Jeremiah (OOC): Who else is gonna be taking shots at?
Tark (OOC): It's funny anything he's saying though is *cuts out*
Nathaniel (OOC): Can't be offended by somebody you don't have respect for.
