Meggie! I absolutely loved chapter 5 and it made me ridiculously happy. I can't believe the end! I did not expect that at ALL, and it was just so wonderful, and beautiful, and lovely. I'm not good with words or at expressing my feelings, but thank you SO so much. I know you spent so much time on this and probably put your heart and soul into it, as well, and I just can't tell you how much I appreciate it. THANK YOU for sharing your beautiful words (and worlds) with us. 100% worth the wait 💜💜💜
oh my gosh, i'm so happy you loved it! i've been waiting for people to read it and let me know what they thought but you've been top of my list! thank you so much for reading and for all of the support and encouragement and everything you did while i was writing! the ending... life imitates art or whatever, right? haha. i'd had everything outlined (things get added and elements get reworked but the main stuff stays the same) for literally years and then i woke up one morning a month ago and asked my boyfriend if we could get married. i work at a wedding venue and some of the characters who pop up at the end—riley, sam, and chris—are people from my real-life wedding venue job. chris is actually a wedding photographer who comes to our venue often and who i'm talking with to see if one of his photographers from his team can do my wedding! (he's already booked.) riley also mentions jackson and jacob, two other young kids who work at our venue. (i call riley bo-biley. it's some weird compulsive thing. i can't help it. i almost had louis call the character bo-biley but refrained.) thank you again for all of your support and for reading and for this wonderful message and for listening to me ramble about bo-biley and wedding photographers! xo

Cats - health benefits
When you have looked deep within and carefully inspected the reasons why you wanted a cat, the process of adopting one is simple enough. Animal shelters, buying from someone you know…You can even scour the street for a stray that suits your fancy.
Cats are not the type of thing you buy as a gift, nor is it a seasonal fashion statement. Choosing an animal means committing to it for the rest of its earthly life. It is an emotional and monetary investment that some might not be prepared for.
“It would be nice to have something small and cute to cuddle with,” was the single most important reason why I adopted a cat. Taking care of a cat is more than cuddling her, however. It means emptying her litter box every day and putting up with many temper tantrums. I had expected the “practical” aspects of cat keeping wearing me out. So far, that doesn’t seem true.
When she first came to us, she was barely two months old. Watching her, I observe how she struggles with her surroundings. Every new corner seems to hide a different world. She’s not excited to explore it, she is just scared most of the time. I relate to that feeling of being lost, of not knowing what would come next in life. For the first time I get to know what lies ahead. Although it is not technically my future that I see, there is still a sense of relief knowing that most corners are the same as the last. She reminds me that it’s best to dive right in and waste no time, rather than dawdling at the edge, never certain, never daring.
The science checks out too. Keeping a pet is good for our mental health, according to Frank (1984) (1). We use our pets as placeholders for the people who are missing in our lives. They can be: “companion, friend, servant, admirer, confidante, toy, team-mate, slave, scapegoat, mirror, trustee, or defender.” They provide a link to reality and provide emotional stability, Frank further explained.
By fulfilling our social needs, pets keep us physically health. Playing with pets is good for both the animal and the human. It provides relief for the cat’s predatory instincts, and an opportunity for humans to exercise. It is an overall effective way to reduce stress. This is the same finding in a research by Brodie and Biley (2001) (2), which correlates pet ownership and a reduced risk of cardio vascular diseases.
There seems to be no fathomable reason for me to regret getting a cat, despite the promises other people made. My wish for a fluffy cuddle thing is fulfilled, and I’m getting all the health benefits that would last into my old age.

Welcome (again) to A Cup-pella, Leigh! We’re excited to have you and Riley Lynn in the game! Please go through the checklist to make sure you’re ready to go and send in your account within the next 24 hours.
OOC INFO
Name + pronouns: Leigh, She/her Age: 26 Timezone: EST Ships: Riley/Chemistry Anti-Ships: Riley/No Chemistry
IC INFO
Full Name: Riley Louisa Lynn Face Claim: Ana de Armas Age/Birthday: 21/March 11th Occupation: Sports Medicine Student at NYU Personality: Goofy, impulsive, withdrawn, athletic, cheerful. Hometown: Bluebell, AL Bio: [CHILD MOLESTATION/SEXUAL ASSAULT TW]
Bluebell, Alabama wasn’t exactly the most friendly and welcoming place for a girl like Riley Lynn to grow up. No, she was the sort who really blossomed once she got to college, and found her niche in the steam and roasted coffee smell of Acuppella. Not to say that April was her very own, personal fairy godmother, but Riley would be hard-pressed to thank anyone else for her newly-found self confidence. The girls of Acuppella have been invaluable to Riley in discovering who she really is, and most importantly, the person she’d like to become.
To say that growing up in Bluebell was stifling would be a bit of an understatement, even though Riley really didn’t have much of an idea of who she was or what she wanted out of life. Her mother worked for a chemistry lab, while her father was a doctor, so her life was planned from the moment she was conceived: go to Harvard, become a doctor. Riley was never able to deliver on that front, and her grades were always average, something that her parents attributed to her being lazy. She excelled in sports from elementary school through college, and has always used athletics as an outlet. She played on her high school’s soccer, basketball, and track teams, and despite making a name for herself at Bluebell High, found herself to be a bit of a loner.
She was a junior in high school when she was diagnosed with dyslexia, which was the main reason why Riley suffered so badly in school. Even though she worked hard with tutors and in resource rooms, she couldn’t pull her grades up high enough to get into medical school like her parents wanted her to. As a last-ditch attempt to try and please her parents, Riley applied to NYU for Sports Medicine, and was so proud of herself when she actually got in. She found her freshman year of college to be rather lonely, and knew it was because she was afraid to trust people. When Riley was eleven years old, she’d been dropped off home from soccer practice by her mother. The coach and his son lived next door, and while Riley’s mother was working in the garden one day talking with her coach’s father, his son went inside for a glass of lemonade and ended up following the sound of the shower to Riley. The incident has left her very self-conscious, too trusting of others, and at times, withdrawn. The experience left Riley extremely wary of men, and to this day, she has not told her parents about the molestation, nor has she come out to them.
Riley’s sexuality wasn’t something that she even became aware of until she was a senior in high school and a new girl moved to Bluebell. Riley found herself infatuated, but ultimately never acted on her emotions. She’s never had a real girlfriend, and that’s something that’s plagued her because of her trust issues. She simply can’t let herself go enough and let someone else in that way. It’s somewhat embarrassing, and she can’t honestly say she’s ever been in love. At least, she couldn’t until Katie came along, and that was a mess more than she needed it to be.
Moving to New York City was initially something that Riley never thought she’d be able to do. She knew she’d never be able to be who she was back in Bluebell, so getting out of that small town was high on her list of priorities. Her parents are happy that she’s doing something involving medicine, even if they’re a little distant from her. Riley is perfectly well-adjusted at NYU. She enjoys living with her roommates, she loves being a part of April’s Showers, and she’s known to do a great rendition of Greased Lightning at April’s karaoke nights from time to time. She’s just trying to get by and make a name for herself in the big city.
Pets: A hamster named Monkey.

Relationships: (to be added to Riley’s, please!)
Harmony Pearce, former roommate
Harmony and Riley became roommates through the penultimate good decision maker: Craigslist. The two got along swimmingly during Riley’s underclassman career at NYU, and she was extremely supportive of Harmony’s blossoming work as an actress. Things got a little too awkward for them after they began sleeping in the same bed for an extended period of time, and Riley found herself to be too distracted from her schoolwork because of how quickly she found herself falling for Harmony. After an evening where they actually slept together, Riley couldn’t deal with her feelings and ended up moving in with Spencer, Kitty, Jane, and Jackie.
