The cool breeze of the night's wind softly hit the window of your partner's chambers, as some gentle owl hooting was heard on the outside. This was the very first time you slept on Jace's chamber together, after giving up to his continous insisting.

As your body was wrapped in the warm blankets, your eyes were tightly shut. Your surroundings and the sounds in the background leisurely disappeared as you were nearly slipping into the sweet, peaceful realm of dreams; the warmth of the blankets plus the feeling of Jace's weight by your side was enough to make you feel comforted, and relax.

Once you could feel losing yourself to reality, and falling into a deep slumber, you were suddenly slightly awakened by the feeling of your boyfriend beginning to uncomfortably shift on his side. Faintly, you could hear some mumbled words slipping from his lips — though, you were uncertain of what those words were, as he spoke very quietly, and notoriously sleepy. He must be clearly immersed in his dreaming, you thought. And you were indeed right, with the exception that far from what you thought, it wasn't a pleasant dreaming, unfortunately.

The tossing around and mumbling words and sentences increased, much to your dismay. Being curious, your eyes softly fluttered open, and you carefully turned around to look at Jace, whom kept shifting from one side to another, slightly shaking his head, while he kept mumbling some incoherent things you couldn't quite catch. Carefully, your hand went to remove some haie off his forehead, in a soft attempt of waking him up as you leaned closer to his body with yours.

“Jace, my love,” you whispered, though you weren't sure that would be enough to wake the future King up. “Wake up, I think you're having a nightmare.” you continued whispering, but it was useless — he paid no mind to you, and kept mumbling things in, what you realised it was, High Valyrian. Though you could slightly understand Valyrian from what he had taught you, you still couldn't understand to a full extent what he spoke. Once again, carefully yet firmly, you shook his body, as you now whispered-shouted at him.

“Jacaerys, wake up!”

And with that, his eyes suddenly opened, and quickly sat on bed, panting heavily. At this sudden rush of movements, you backed away a bit in surprise, but one of your hands rapidly flew to caress his back, and the other one to rub his arm – notoriously concerned for him. “Are you alright, love?!” you inquired nervously trying to look into his face, as he heavily breathed. “What's the proble—” before you could continue speaking, he abruptly interrupted, looking intensely into your eyes.

“Where's Luke? Is he alright?” his voice tone was shaky, as his body was visibly trembling as well. You rapidly nodded in agreement, and moved some bits of hair that covered his face. You understood perfectly what everything was about, you knew his concerns and why he lately seemed to be constantly worried after his younger brother returned wounded from Storm's End, along with a badly harmed and stratched Arrax. The young future King and heir to the Throne was worried about losing his brother.

“Luke is fine, Jace, he's alright...” you soothed whispering placing a soft kiss on his cheek, which immediatly caused for him to tightly embrace you, and hide his face on the crook of your neck, feeling his intense breathing. “He's resting on his chambers, he is safe, I can reassure you nothing will happen to him.” as you sweetly whispered to him, you placed small little kisses on top of his head, as one of your hands rubbed his back, and the other one caressed his silky hair. Gently, he pulled back a bit from the embrace, but his arms still remained gripping around your figure softly.

As he looked into your eyes, you noticed some tears forming on his eyes. It was strange to see him this vulnerable, but you understood and respected his reasons to feel such way. The hand that caressed his hair went to caress his cheek, wiping a rolling tear in the process.

“I-I'm... I'm sorry, love, I–” a brief pause was made, interrupting himself as he began weeping quietly. “I-I had a nightmare,” he continued, with a shaky breath. His hands around your body trembled. “a nightmare about Aemond killing Luke in Storm's End–” his voice cracked, and he stopped talking by breaking down into a full wave of tears. You gasped in surprised as his head fell into your chest, his hands formed on a fist held a tight grip of your silk nightgown, as your arms flew to warmly wrap his body soothingly.

“Shhh, it's alright, everything's alright, my Prince.” you cooed gently, holding him in your arms as he cried his life out. Your hand leisurely played with strands of his hair, your lips giving small kisses on his temple. “It was a mere nightmare. Lucerys is a brave boy who survived, he's alright and safe now.” as you softly whispered, you could hear his tearing stopping slowly, feeling comforted by your warmth — the way your fingers played with his hair made him relax slightly. “I can't stand seeing you in this state, my love. Please, don't cry... everything will be alright.” a few more kisses were placed in his temple, then, your lips descended to lovingly kiss his soft cheeks; cupping them with your hands.

With your fingers, you tenderly lifted his chin, forcing him to stare into your eyes. And once you had him staring at you, you pressed your lips against him gently, following after that some kisses on the corner of his lips as a way of trying to calm him down. His lips tasted sweetly as usual, yet slightly salty as you could taste his tears. Pulling away, one of your hands that cupped his cheek wiped away a last falling tear with the fingertip of your thumb, very gently.

“I love you, sweet prince. I promise to eternally protect you, and your family — even if I have to protect you from a nightmare.” you slightly joked as to ease the atmosphere and make Jace forget about his bad dreaming, but you were being fully honest at the same time. A small grin curved on his lips, and nodded. Without giving much of a response, his head fell once again to your chest, taking in your sweet scent and relaxing warmth. Your arms were protectively wrapped around his body, and you rested your chin on top of his head, feeling his body slightly weighing on your arms. “Do you... wish to get back to sleep?” you inquired, whispering. “Or would you rather prefer to stay like this for a bit longer?” you continued. In response, he nodded, still laying his head on your chest, soothing himself with the sound of your tender heartbeating. “I would prefer to stay a bit longer like this.” the brunette haired boy replied, mumbling. His heart fluttered slightly at how incredibly caring, and understanding you were of him... and he wouldn't replace that beautiful feeling you gave him for anything in the world.

Though it was unusual to see him in such vulnerable state, you couldn't say you weren't fond of comforting him, and knowing he'd immediatly fall to your arms if he needed some reassurance.

Both of you stood there, together, embracing each other warmly as you hummed a soft song for him, rocking him to the sides very gently. “I love you, my sweet one.” whispering, you placed another small kiss on his temple. “I'll always love you, and be there for you no matter what.” you continued, and even if you couldn't see it, you could feel him broadly smiling like a little boy with a crush, and lucky for him, you weren't able to see the intense crimson blush glinting on both his cheeks, and extending to his entire face as his eyes began to, once again, feel heavy — meaning, he would soon find himself once again falling into the realm of dreams, and a deep sleep.

Indeed, soon after that, you helped him to lay on bed together once again, having him clinging to your side, and you both went to peacefully sleep cuddling, embraced in not only the warmth that came from the blankets, but as well as each other's own warmth. And he knew that by your side, any nightmare would turn into a sweet, loving dream. <3
