Kendrick Lamar Gets Trolled by TDE President Over Chanel Photo Shoot: 'I Think I'm Cute on There'

“Certified Loverboy lol,” Top Dawg’s “Punch” Henderson wrote.

Top Dawg Entertainment president Terrence "Punch" Henderson shared a text conversation with Kendrick Lamar after trolling him over his Chanel photoshoot from January.

Punch came across a black-and-white picture of K. Dot from his designer fashion photoshoot on X earlier this week, and he playfully jabbed at Lamar and his feud with Drake by referring to him as a "Certified Loverboy."

Punch couldn't get enough of the photoshoot and took his banter directly to Kendrick and sent him a text asking for some background on the picture. "What you doing dawg," he asked. The Compton legend replied with a handful of crying laughing emojis and added: "I think I'm cute on there man. I couldn't resist."

The Top Dawg Entertainment executive refused to let Kendrick off the hook that easy. "What you doing with these dreamy eyes n--a," he continued. K. Dot couldn't even muster up much of a response: "I'm crying dawg."

Punch then asked for permission to post the hilarious exchange for the world to see. "Man you gotta let me post this dawg. I'm crying," he wrote. Fans couldn't get enough of the text message convo surrounding the Chanel shoot in his replies. One even tweaked lyrics from Lamar's "Euphoria" Drake diss to fit the situation.

"Punch to Kendrick: Let me tell you I'm the biggest hater, I hate the way that you dress. I hate the way that your eyes look when u look away if I see you u better look at me direct," a fan responded.

The photoshoot in question went down in January when Kendrick was shot by Malick Bodian for Chanel after attending the Spring/Summer 2024 fashion show at Paris Fashion Week.

Lamar and his pgLang company were directly involved in the creative for curating the fashion show. He teased an unreleased song which scored a short film visual recapping the event.

1. Do you have any interesting or unusual personal interpretations of any songs?

I’ve talked about a few on here before, and idk how interesting/unusual it is but I guess I can talk about where the white boys dance since no one really does? So to me, the chorus is being sung by the girl’s perspective. She suspects her boyfriend of cheating on her (with a man, I might add—“and the man who sweeps him off she doesn’t meet”), so she gets drunk, calls a friend, and wants to seek revenge by going to some seedy club (possibly where she thinks her cheating boyfriend met his fling) and hooking up with another guy. It’s kind of another play on the whole Mr. Brightside theme of how poisonous your mind can be when you don’t trust your partner being faithful and how you try to cope with that

5. Which era is your favorite Brandon, and why?

Ughh this is SO hard!!! I love so many different eras! I have to go with early tde era though, when the rogaine really kicked in and gave us perfectly soft fluffy hair, but it wasn’t too long yet. There are a lot of really great photoshoots from that time, and some great interviews as well!

11. Do you want Brandon to bring back the mustache?

Omg I was actually just talking about this with some people yesterday! The Sam’s town mustache was such a unique look—no other time that he’s gone scruffy has his mustache looked like That, and I think that’s a good thing because I feel like it just fit Brandon well for that point in his life, but wouldn’t work now. His face was a bit rounder then, so it really made him look like a lil puppy, but I don’t think it would be as endearing now. I do want a return to scruff though!! When he has a whole face of light scruff? 🤤

16. Are there any songs that you will passionately defend against naysayers?

HEART OF A GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!! First of all, I don’t think the “daddy daddy daddy” part is in anyway meant to be taken in a ~sexual~ or kinky way. The whole song is telling their story and how fate brought them together and how they found compassion and mutual strength and encouragement in each other and how they will continue to support each other no matter what challenges they face, and it’s just such a soft and tender song and to reduce it to just that line or treat it entirely as a joke is just a waste. The beginning is soft and slow and quiet, so I can understand people who find it boring, but the ending is just so beautiful and if you skip the song you are really missing out
