The forecast was rain again, so I knew I wouldn't hike. Planned on sleeping in because i got terrible sleep last night (like almost none), but then I woke up from a dream where I'd created a "recipe" for making art. I got out of bed anyway and immediately tried it. Love the results here, will see if it's repeatable. Swipe for closeups. This is the "recipe": Make a mark on the page, anywhere, to serve as a focal point. Scribble on that area. Pick 3 colors of paint + a neutral dark, neutral light and a metallic (I like a little shimmer!) Grab 3 stencils and 3 things that make marks (I used pencils). Build outward from that focal area in layers with the paints and stencils... Adding, removing, embellishing, keeping the focus in that space. Add a shit ton of marks. (← this is the actual terminology, I swear.) Lunchtime art break. Opinions on painting across the page? I love seeing other's work this way, and I dove in and have about 4 half-filled (across the page) books, but when I make something I love and want to share (as prints to purchase), the page middle is a hindrance. I'm wondering if larger, say 9x12 pads, worked on one side only, would be better for me.
