Okay..... I'm sorry, but this year's Oscar Nominations are 🤬 TRASH.

I don't even know where to freaking begin. 😡

FIRST of all, the very OBVIOUS snub of "The Color Purple" is just very interesting to say the least. 🤨 All of the acting, singing, and dancing that everyone had to do in this movie, and only ONE freaking Nomination??

Second... how in the HAYELL do you give an Oscar Nomination to Margot Robbie for freaking "Barbie", and don't think to give one to Fantasia for "The Color Purple"??? 😒 And how is it you nominate the supporting actress Danielle Brooks for TCP, but NOT the lead actress? 🤔 True, sometimes the supporting actor in a film outshines the lead actor, but in this case, I think they were both deserving of a nod. Every single other film, for the most part, has the lead and the supporting actor nominated.

Which brings me to "Barbie" being nominated for Best Picture.... over The Color Purple??? SERIOUSLY?? 🤨

Ryan Gosling getting a nomination for playing KEN, and America Ferrera getting a nomination for BARBIE???

I am SO upset 😡

This makes absolutely ZERO sense. 🙄

The Oscars are definitely political, coz they (imo) deliberately snubbed "May, December" (Prob due to the controversy), and "The Color Purple" (maybe due to Taraji speaking out about Hollywood? Idk 🤷🏾‍♀️).

Either way, I'm not sure how a film that got 11 nominations 30 years ago and won ZERO, got only ONE nomination in the year 2024. 🤔

Was it the best movie of last year? No... But do I think it should have been nominated over freaking "Barbie"?? Yes!

This is just proof that the Oscars are going back to their typical ways smh. 🙄

I'm sorry, but NONE of those actors for "Barbie" should have received ACTING nominations for that movie.

And if that movie had been a black dominated cast, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have either.

How at first I thought you were much too cool to even talk to me, then we started talking and I instantly felt how much we had in common and then to now where I consider you one of my best friends in the world. The two of us relate to each other a lot in one way or another, and I always feel so understood and loved when I talk to you. Your presence in The Connor Project and in my life, brightens my days. When you share fun facts about birds. When you send us awesome art. When you tell us about HBD and your wonderful characters from it. And every time, I’m all ears. You have this way with words. I’m always drawn to what you say. I’m always impressed by everything you write and draw and tell. Okay, okay, so, I'm rereading TCP and I need to rant so:

When Madoc kills Jude's parents? The three sisters have three different reactions to the situation. Vivi vows to hate Madoc and disobeys in an attempt to show what she feels. Taryn cries beside her mother and tries to wake her up which evidently portrays her methods a lot gentler than her other two sisters (and she is also tries the impossible or...common). And Jude has a more physical way of showing her pain and she channels her grief into anger and tries to hit Madoc.

The pet pillows Jude takes with her to elfhame? A koala, a snake and a black cat. She in the end has a husband whose love language is physical touches, who was turned into a snake and was fed by a black cat, almost thinking he himself was one.

She also says "I cannot bear to throw out any of my relics (her stuffed animals)" and later in wicked King she burns them and I think that shows how much of a development in a character she's had. (She gets a real life, three-in-one replacement instead)

Maybe not a big point but during the first revel we see Taryn and Jude attend there is a line where jude goes "Not bother with salt..." when Taryn picks up some food to eat. This could be interpreted that they are used to and have adapted to more of the fae traditions. As in, they know more about the faerie world than that of mortal and they have well adapted to the surrounding.

Same time, next point. "We pass [the apple] back and forth, sharing down to the core, which I eat in two bite". Not much of a point but this kind of shows how Jude leans more towards the weaponry and Madoc's specialities more than how to be "proper" during a revel. Unlike Taryn.

The ballad they sing: “Of all the sons King William had, Prince Jamie was the worst...And what made the sorrow even greater, Prince Jamie was the first.” Jude says that she is not fond of this ballad because it reminds her of someone else insinuating Cardan but this is almost doesn't suit him but more Balekin. I feel like this is sort of a metaphor for her perspective of the faerie folk and the way it changes in the future.

Perhaps this is noted but the first time we see Cardan he wears a dress in the pattern of constellations and during Jude's coronation she wears dress of constellations too.

Can I have some headcannons about how ghost!Will takes care of Kit and Mina when they are home alone

Of course you can kk!❤️

Will usually appears to Mina after she’s been put to bed. He will tell her stories about her siblings and mother from another time, and sing her welsh lullabies. Mina looks forward to these visits and tells Kit about them. He doesn’t believe her at first but then Will starts appearing to him to. He teaches Kit how to be a shadow hunter and monitors his training with Jem as well. Jem and Tessa no that Will is appearing to Kit and Mina, But don’t say anything about it. Sometimes if Kit does some thing that gets him into trouble with Jem or Tessa Will Will give him tips about how to get back on their good sides. Kit and Mina like to hear stories about their ancestors and Kit especially about the history of the Herondale’s. Mina thinks The demon pox song is just about the funniest thing she’s ever heard. Even when Kit starts cursing in welsh Jem and Tessa still act like everything is normal they like that the children feel as if Will is there a special secret and is only appearing to them. Which of course he isn’t after all these years the bond between the three of them has just grown stronger and until Jem and Tessa join him he will keep visiting them until the end of time.

Gift:

Even the din of the underground market isn’t enough to conceal the squeal of delight the dealer makes upon registering her approach. “My favorite customer.” Magik plants both hands on the rickety wooden structure, heedless of its precarious swinging, and leans over to kiss her cheek. “Oh, how I’d missed your face and your money.”

Ismene laughs. “But mostly my money.”

“There is something so enchanting about a woman spending on knowledge.”

“So you’re into librarians and booksellers.”

Magik twirls a strand of her fiery red hair with a smirk. “Mm, no.  I think it’s just you.”

“Really?” She licks her lips. “Then, maybe you wouldn’t mind gifting me a book or two.”

Water:

Jehona walks past a figure huddled on the side of the building, stops, and then turns back. She can’t make much of the person, except for the fact that they’re shaking. What ledge the HQ building has does not protect them from the water. 

“Hey,” she calls out, trying for a soft tone and failing. Their head snaps up, eyes wide and focusing somewhere over her left shoulder. Jehona frowns. “What are you doing here at this hour?”

“Sorry.” The kid raises their hands placatingly, fingers shaking from fear, rather than cold. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean… I’m sorry.”

They’re blind. And scared. And lost. And most probably freezing. She scowls openly now, willing herself to walk away. Knowing she won’t. Her leg throbs dully and she shifts her weight off of it.

Heart:

The bronze hands of the grandfather clock in the corner drag across its face at an infuriatingly slow pace. Jehona’s eyes dart to it again and again. The ticking of the clock only heightens her anxiety until it’s formed a pit in her stomach. She holds herself on the ledge, unwilling to fall in its dark depths and into the clutches of panic. The downward spiral wouldn’t do anyone any good. It gets harder and harder, however, holding back, maintaining a solid grip on her emotions, as time passes without a sign of her dad. 

He should’ve been back by now. He’s always back at this time. 

Jehona gets up with a thundering heart and sweeps her Eagles’ cloak over her shoulders. When the door slams shut behind her, the parsen has grown ice cold.

Snusband!!! So excited to hear from you. 🐍 It’s a busy day for me but this certainly brightened it.

1) Ah, I have so many! A moment I think is underrated is when they’re watching the stars together in TCP and Cardan absentmindedly traces the curve of her ear. Chapter 15 of TWK, of course. 😳 And when Jude breaks into his house later and he just kind of pulls her into bed with him and tells her he missed her. And when Cardan shows up in the middle of an enemy camp to rescue Jude in QoN, as if he is not the king. Also every “that’s my wife.”

2) Writing’s my primary hobby these days. I’ve been running for a while now, so that might count. Yoga might too. Reading, cooking. I used to do a lot of plays and musicals, and I still sing, but mostly just in my room. I was taking swordfighting lessons for a little while but the pandemic put a stop to that, and I’ve dabbled in boxing.

3) My favorite song changes ALL THE TIME! But my favorite artist is Halsey, who’s been at the top of my Spotify Wrapped for literal years. Also according to Spotify Wrapped, the song I listened to most this year was “Need Nothing” by VÉRIT��. What about you? How are you doing today?

Cast TCP as Disney attractions?

Why hello anon who is definitely not me sending an ask to myself out of boredom! This may be the most self-indulgent post I’ve made in ages, but bear with me @unoriginalurl77 - Living With the Land. A boat ride through nice scenes on a farm plus a greenhouse where they grow awesome plants and (I believe) all the vegetables they serve in the park! (alternate: The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Soft and lovely and nostalgic. ‘Nuff said :)) @thatfriendlyanon - it’s a small world! Just a pure, gentle ride about people connecting with each other in song and I think that’s beautiful (alternate: the Seas with Nemo and Friends. A ride with nice music that takes you through a literal aquarium and just always feels really serene and nice.)  @floraldrizzle - Muppet Vision 3D. No idea why that was the first one to pop into my head, but the vibe just fits, idk. One of the first things I ever did at Disney and still has a big place in my heart. Fun and energetic and imaginative, plus Muppets! (alternate: the Affection Section. An area of Animal Kingdom only accessible by train where you literally just go to pet goats and I think that’s wonderful.) @sincerely-nerdeh - The Enchanted Tiki Room because,,,birbs (alternate: Pirates of the Caribbean. Again, no idea why, it just feels like it fits. The ride, not the movies bc hot take the ride is far superior and was almost where I worked when Disney hired me 10/10 would go again) @kkamikazed - The Haunted Mansion. Literally so cool with insane practical effects and amazing writing. Also the spoopy tone just vibes with a lot of the fics I associate with you so yeah! (alternate: the Dapper Dans, a crazy talented barbershop quartet often seen around Main Street USA who wear fun, colorful outfits.) @nickjsqueen - the Jungle Cruise. Literally so funny and entirely carried by individual workers who narrate the whole ride while driving the boat. Probably the most quoted attraction in the parks, for a good reason. (alternate: Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress bc moustache. Also John Progress has Sock Puppet Larry energy and I do not take criticism. alternate alternate: Sonny Eclipse, the singing animatronic alien that isn’t advertised anywhere but is a gd legend with a snazzy jacket) Me - the Tangled bathrooms. Maybe seems interesting at first, but is actually full of shit. The Country Bear Jamboree.
