I think my favorite thing about the TCF novel is that although Cale is a transmigrator he didn’t go from regular person to super smart just because he transmigrated. In a lot of novels you’ll see transmigrators and regressors just suddenly becoming geniuses in everything they do. I like that the author created a back story of why Cale was as smart as he was. And, he had to go through a lot of trial and error and see a lot of things for his plans to work.

I don’t remember where it was in the book but I remember reading that in KRS’s early days at the company with LSH they got beat up after a mission gone wrong. I think the way LSH just laughs the whole ordeal off is just a way that alludes to how Cales plans back then didn’t always work. He had to work on the front lines for a long time before his plans became so intricate and easily switched and replaced for new ones as more obstacles are thrown at him.

Cale is naturally smart, yes, but things like that can only be achieved through experience and I’m glad the author gave Cale the experience before they gave Cale the ability.

Anyway this is just a little quark I saw in the book that I’d thought I’d share with the rest of the fandom.

Cale and Dokja are in two different sides of the self-sacrificing bastards spectrum. Yujin is there in between the other two. Gongja has breached out and no one has any idea what he’s doing anymore. Lloyd is closer to Cale but is also getting closer to Gongja.

I don’t know about Kiyoung, Hajin and Jesse/Yeseo yet as I haven’t read the manhwas or novels. As for Moondae I read too little to make an assumption

The Henituse family but they meet an au where Cale grew up happy.

He's kind, he's sweet, he smiles and laughs freely, Beacrox of his world had been teaching him how to cook because Cale had asked, jour is still alive (with a maybe little sibling on the way) and teaches him things about the Thames family and their research, he'd been taking sword lessons, Ron is still a father figure in his life, Deruth isn't neglectful and tries to make time for his family at least once a week, Cale is actually open with his father and calls him dad, he's is a bright student in his studies, he helps out with some of his parents paperwork for when he becomes the count and has already made improvements, and Deruth of the original's world can only stare in shock

I don't think Birth of a Hero Ron and Beacrox get enough criticism.

Beacrox, a 30 year old man, stood by and watched as an 18 year old child got the shit beaten out of him, and instead of putting a stop to it, he marvled at Choi Han's strength and then dipped. Yes, Beacrox's job was just to be a chef, yes what Cale said was horrendous, but he was the adult in the situation, and he watched a child get his ass beat without stepping in.

Ron, the one consistant person in Cale's life, left. Yes, Ron was looking after his son, yes Ron could have left in attempt to protect the Henituse family, the mother fucker could have left a fucking note. He admits himself that he was around long enough to change Cale dipers when he was a baby, and he just leaves without any explanation. Just poof, while Cale is recovering from a serious beatdown. He didn't even leave a postit note sized message that said goodbye!

And okay, you can chalk it up to "Well, they were servants to the Henituse County, they weren't really required to do this or that because it wasn't their job!" And, okay, sure if that's how you want to view it, but then don't turn around and say "Oh Ron sees Cale as a second son." TCF!Ron sees KRS!Cale as a son, the original obvious had much more complicated feelings.

And I'm sorry, the "super observant assassin" didn't notice that the child he was been tasked with caring for for 18 fucking years was acting?! He didn't try at all to, sign Cale up for therapy or maybe, I don't know, talk to Deruth, his boss, about Cale? Ron is a father himself, obviously a good one since Beacrox holds him in such high regard, and yet he did nothing when 8yo Cale showed obvious signs of something going on.

Also, Beacrox was 20 years old when Cale started acting out, he was an adult through Cale's entire start of being "Trash", and he also didn't notice anything. And if he did, he didn't do anything about it.

Completely related, am I the only one that wishes we had the original BOAH to read, to get a better understanding of the backstory and timeline of the original novel?

the starter: orv. the gateway drug of webnovels. tumblrs favorite. i cant write a better pitch than whats already been said. yes it is longer than the bible but thats rookie numbers. read if you like found family full of assholes, unreliable narrators, and plot twists youll be thinking about for days and picking your memory apart with a fine tooth comb over.

the wish fulfillment: tcf. guy accidentally adopts three children and several adults. he just wants to chill but he keeps being forced to save the world. very well written every chapter makes me giggle and kick my feet. 800+ chapters and ongoing but im fucking committed. read for a pathetic sopping wet meow meow who everybody instinctively wants to protect despite him paradoxically being weak and able to kick their asses. he takes his kids on family fieldtrips to loot and murder across several universes.

the kpop: dod. its funnier if you dont know a damn thing about kpop but is more understandable if you do. guy has to debut as a kpop idol, or die trying. title self explanatory. its balls to the walls ridiculous but simultaneously really sad. the protag suffers everyday but its funny as he does it. really realistic depictions of korean stan twitter and all internet in general. guy begrudgingly gets friends against his will but is okay with it eventually

my roman empire: sssrh. i will die out of excitement if you read this. guy kills himself 4000 times, kills someone else for revenge, and then is normal again. well not normal entirely hes still messed up from killing himself 4000 times but yknow. he is the nicest little guy ever and gets many friends after never having any. he also gets a husband (wife) who he loves so much its known everywhere. he tries to give lesbian god therapy, and makes all his enemies like him eventually because he keeps resurrecting them. except for the guy he killed himself a million times to kill he makes him dance perpetually and work in a cafe. the comic is also fantastic it has recently adapted the part where [my mouth is covered because i will talk about it for hours] at its core the message is humans need connections to be stable and it says a fuck ton of stuff about family i want to elaborate on but my brain is too jumbled. read it read it read it ill stab myself out of joy if you do

Is the fact that when he did get close to someone, they died, so he never understood what came next in friendship or any other kind of relationship.

What do you do with the people that you love? He doesn't know, because he never had the time. He never learned how to share. With who? The dead? The graves? The rests of his loved ones? God?

You know most of the time people get angry at Cale because he can't for the life of him communicate things as they are, specifically regarding his health and seems to be unable to register his family worries for him.

And to that I said, of fucking course, his whole life on earth was horrible and he didn't develop emotionally because let's do a quick recap:

His parents died.

His abusive uncle took him in

He ended up in an orphanage.

When he was twenty the world collapsed.

He was bullied because he didn't have abilities.

Then the shelter he was in was destroyed

Once again he was alone until he met with LSH and CJS and let's not forget he was already 20 something.

Not long after they died as well.

Then he closed off with everyone because he didn't want to get attached just to lose them again.

He woke up in a novel

GoD confirmed he was supposed to die not CJS nor LSH.

He had to face his past again due to SG test.

...Well you get my point by now he was a little too busy surviving for him to actually develop self worth, most of his life he learned he wasn't someone who deserves affection or care and unfortunately no one said otherwise and if they did they die leaving him worse than before.

So it is no wonder he keeps things to himself all the time, after all why would others worry about him it makes no sense? At least from his pov.

That's why he is so detached at the beginning, still he can't help but try fixing things because it is the only action he knows

Surviving and saving others is so deeply engrained in him that unknowingly he keeps getting in a bigger mess. He got attached against his best efforts and gives more than he can take because he is not used to getting, the people who ever gave him anything always ended up dying before he could understand being emotional or plainly having emotions is normal.

Sooo top 5 things that makes me happy, huh? Hmm..

1. TCF: I rediscover something new everytime I reread it 😂 It's such a soothing balm over my tired soul at times (if you ignore all that angst hidden in it lol)

Cale: *yet another chapter of him ruining his slacker life with his own hands*

Me and my tired soul: Yessss, I am not the only one who can't seem to get that slacker life! We grieve together for slacker life, Cale 🤝

2. Writing: It's such a wonderful out for my emotion when I feel like I can't keep things bottled up and inflict said emotion on my characters in return- Writing is sort of a cathartic therapy for me.

3. Apple Pies: Yeah, Raon made me like those more than I already did lol. When I first tried to make them, it didn't turn out as well, but it was tastier the next time. Baking the pies was a new learning experience XD

4. Pinterest: No listen to me, I love staring at different fanarts for hours and come up with different wips that will never see the light of day... probably.. hopefully not.. and all the beautiful, funny and incredibly amazing fanworks brings me so much joy. Oh, and it helps with my academics and other stuff too lol

5. Knitting: My grandma taught me how to knit. She was an incredible tailor back in her day and used to make all kinds of clothes for my mum and uncle back when they were kids. She made some for me and my brother back when we were young too, so yeah, learned knitting, sewing and all that kinda stuff from her. She was really happy when she was teaching me cuz my mom has no talent for it 😂. Knitting is a hobby that I greatly enjoy. And it reminds me of my grandma and all the time I spent with her ^^

About your ocs… how do the ones with their own cells meet each other. Like, wouldn’t they be trapped in their cells?

Good point, My Tcf is much different from canon and they are trying to contain the more unstable Trollges but also help others as they were people before(unless otherwise) and some who are harmless are sometimes kept there for studying and some can be used as therapy for other Trollges.

I image that sometimes they let a Trollge be with another Trollge and see how they would react for research or to try and make them know echother but sometimes it heavily backfires and causes fights and rivals(especially if one or both Trollges are animalistic in there mindset or are aggressive in general)

So it's probably like a monster sanctuary and the more dangerous Trollges are more in the center of the containment facilities and the harmless on its outer shell and those places are mostly ignored or abandoned cause they aren't used often (That's where Raven stays and likes to be in)

So yeah hope that explains a bit
