literally my least favourite thing on the planet is being asked what my leave plans are for December/Jan (as in, declaring which days I plan on 'taking off' between roughly 23 December to 4 January). What do you mean which days am I planning to 'take off'. An active action taken on my part. What do you mean that December period isn't already off. What do mean, 'are you planning on working 26 Dec' (American team, with the greatest of sadness). What do you mean 'will you take 28 Dec off. Are you working 30th.' What if I had a rake.

Capitalism will eat itself and destroy communities. 20th Dec to 4th Jan should AUTOMATICALLY be off. No one should have to choose to use or not use a holiday for it. They should shut down the office and send everyone home, I swear to god if you give people a choice to show up, under the kind of pressure elimination-driven workplaces work, people won't really feel like they have a choice in the matter. Just give them off. Shut down the whole building.
