Oh hey let me finally answer this 💀💀I had written half and then i exited out of the window and gave up. ily paige. answering for gianlerette and the simblr lol

1. Do you hide any secrets in your stories that only a few people will find?  G: In the Behind the Scenes posts I do hint at things. Most of the time it’s just vague dialogue that I throw everywhere. I love being vague af. S: And same with the Simblr. Vague dialogue everywhere. but in general I figure no one is paying attention close enough to notice anything huehuehehue

2. Sims writing has a visual component. How do you utilize color/objects and settings in your stories? G: I don’t do that too much as far as color. I mean, there are specific cc creators that I use for specific contestants (sentate cc is Val and Savnannah thru and thru lol) (oh and darte for gian but more so keith) Mostly I just use what looks ~aesthetic~ to me lol. S: I use photo filters in editing more for a visual aspect! Cool toned things for things that either are set at night, or when things get Sad(tm) Usually I always use a magenta one for Whitney. That’s really the most that I do. (For those interested, the Gianlerette also uses a magenta photo filter for all posts and the Behind the Scenes posts don’t have a filter.)

3. Which process do you dedicate more time to, editing visuals or editing your writing? Why?   G: I take a lot more time editing the photos with the writing on them. It takes me so long and it makes me hella understand why on my simblr I put the text in the tumblr post lol.  S: And for the Simblr I spend more time writing as well. Editing visuals are p simple if I’m not putting text on them lul.

4. What scenes do you find hardest to write? G: R O M A N C E. It’s really hard for me to feel like I’m actually writing a believable budding romance. It always takes me the longest, and I always write and re write. It’s a struggle. I often feel like I’m just writing some nonsense from a romcom.... The longer this goes on the longer it’s gonna take me lmao. S: Same as above, but also anything that gets close to technical. Medical stuff, technical stuff. I do my best to research but I still struggle with it. 

5. Are there any scenes in your story that you enjoy re-reading?   G: So far I haven’t gone back and read anything, I’m sure that when this is all over I’ll love to go back and read through all of the beginning surrounding the winning ladee. S: I love going back to the very beginning, and then I also love re-reading from the beginning on any character I’m really vibing with. Currently it’s Whitney. She’s my fave on my leggo, and the other night I scrolled back to the beginning of her tag and reminisced. 

6. Are there any scenes you wish you could go back and re-write? G: So far no! My original plan for the fitness challenge in posts, would have been dodgeball (and Trina def would have taken a dodgeball to the tit lmaoOOOO) But rn everything looks good to me. S: YE, it’s from a long time ago but my Gen 2 heir finally ~getting together~ with her man I wanted to have it set up on the beach in Willow Creek over in the area where the two big lots are. Those lots were where they grew up and such. At the time I didn’t know how to pose couples off lots so I ended up staging the scene at a nightclub. But that’s oki. 

7. Do you have any characters you believe might be misunderstood by your readers?     For both: IDK I don’t think so. 

9. Are you writing with a deadline in mind to complete the story?   G: Oh yiss, there’s an end in sight. Granted It probably won’t be for a year from watching how long it’s taken other people to run these kind of challenges, but still. After the GIanlerette is wrapped, IDK how much I’ll post concerning him after that yknow? We’ll see tho!! S: Hooooo on my first post on my simblr it says “10 generations” I’m currently on 3 after 3 years.... so we’ll see on that one too lmao.

10. If you could choose to be one of your characters for a day, which one would it be? G: Let me be Rochelle pulling all the strings and knowing e v e r y t h i n g about everyone. I mean that’s essentially what I’m doing but I’d like to do it in a nice pantsuit. S: I think I would opt to be one of the kids that are not yet born in my leggo lmao. Give me some truly ignorant bliss lololo. 

11. What are some elements you think are becoming cliché in the genre you’re writing? G: OOF. Going on vacation to Sulani with the final contestants lmao. For the record that’s not where any of the top ladies will be traveling. What with Snowy Escape coming out soon AND the fact that I wrote it into the story that Gian wants to go to Selvadorada. There’s probably others but :shrug: S: Unknowing Pregnant Person Throws Up and Then Realizes What’s Up. Am I about to run that cliché again in my legacy soon??? You’re DAMN RIGHT I AM. I love me a good cliché tbh. 

14. What is something that you think most of your readers might miss? G: I think people probs miss the dynamic trio of Noor, Magnus, & Gian. And sometimes I feel like I’m not writing Gian as good as Cam did lmaoooo. There is something magical about how you wrote my boi. S: So far no one BIG BIG has died yet, so there isn’t much to miss. But also i now no one is as invested as I am lol so it’s not a big deal.

Full Name: Andy Wolpert. I named him after Andy Hurley from FOB coz he is an AMAZING drummer. Last name comes from a singer named James Wolpert. He’s great too.

Gender and Sexuality: He’s male. And he’s bi. Part of his arc in the story he’s a part of is that he’s pretty uncomfortable with his sexuality and shit but he figures it out as time passes. I project a lot’a shit in Re-Hash and he got the honor of having a REALLY dark period I went through being part of him. It’s sad but it all works out.

Pronouns: Goes by he/him. 

Ethnicity/Species: He’s a cool fox boy~

Birthplace and Birthdate: I haven’t figured this out yet tbh, even though his birthday/birthplace is kinda a minuscule detail as of right now. It’s nothing special.

Guilty Pleasures: I think maybe he sees liking 80′s pop music as something no one needs to know about him. He’s a very punk rock guy. He likes screamy music and rapid hard hitting drums so to see him listening to George Michael or fucking Whitney Houston is like ‘Andy what the fuck dude’ but in reality that’s totally normal. Like who the fuck doesn’t like 80′s music???

He’ll also never admit that he thinks Bridesmaids is the funniest movie ever made.

Phobias: Andy’s got a fucked backstory that involved a bad abusive situation before he was actually put in an orphanage for a bit when he was about 7 or so. He’s prone to bad dreams about a lot of bloody shit. He underwent a lot of therapy and is doing a lot better now He doesn’t really have fears like ‘I hate the dark’ or cramped spaces. 

But whenever he does have a bad night everything is bad. The dark, the sounds, the images he sees in his mind.

I’d say maybe he has a paranoia about if he’s going to have another bad dream. He’s genuinely terrified of those. He always wakes up in a panic and has trouble going back to bed afterward, which results in a lot of 4 AM cigarette breaks outside in the cold.

What They Would Be Famous For: Andy’s got a band coz he’s punk rock as fuck. If the band were big, he’d be big for being the singer. He’s also kinda a heartthrob to a bunch of people in the Re-Hash world even though his band is pretty local and not big whatsoever. Everyone’s got a thing for him.

What They Would Get Arrested For: He’s been arrested before for petty theft. He was broke and really wanted something to drink so he stole like six bottles of Pepsi from a gas station. He’s also totally broken into someone’s car but he didn’t get caught for that. He’s a little shit but he doesn’t do anything that REALLY hurts anybody directly. 

OC You Ship Them With: AHHHHHHHH-

So Andy’s existence has straight up changed the entire course of the story now. Main character is my SWEET BABY BOY Kris and I had something different planned for Kris with someone else. About an hour after I actually drew Andy the first time, I thought that he could be a cool addition to the cast coz I didn’t originally plan on him actually being a character. Just an idea. So I drew him interacting with MY SWEET BABY BOY KRIS and-

Immediately I was like

These two are literally OTP goals, man.

Andy’s got a loud, abrasive attitude that Kris thinks is attractive in a weird way. Kris is a little pop punk shit so they go hand in hand, really. They both bring the better out in one another, too. Meeting Kris helps him figure out a lot of his struggles with his sexuality and shit. He helps Kris mend a lot of the bad thoughts he has in his head about himself. Kris is Andy’s rock and Andy is Kris’s sutures.

They drain the fear from each other and make the noise go away in each of their heads.

Plus they look cute together. Tall fox boy and tiny cat dude. I love both of ‘em to death.

OC Most Likely To Murder Them: None of ‘em. I mean, I think Dustin thinks he’s kind of an asshole but no one wants to murder him.

Favorite Movie/Book Genre: He’s keen on horror but he likes thrillers a lot too. He thinks Se7en is a work of fucking art. 

Least Favorite Movie/Book Cliche: He doesn’t like romantic movies at all. He thinks they’re cheesy. He also thinks Game of Thrones is overrated as fuck.

Talents and/or Powers: He’s a good singer. I mean, he’s totally in a band. He also can play guitar a little bit. That’s an important bit in the story for what I call the ‘Honeybee’ section.

Why Someone Might Love Them: He’s really nice under all of his walls he puts up. If he cares about someone, he gets really attached and has a whole lot of good shit to say/do for you. Maybe he got you something nice for your birthday. He probably stole it, but hey! For you!

But yeah, Andy’s a pretty sensitive guy under all that fluff and the scar on his eye. Kris likes him for his personality and jokes. He has a good sense of humor despite it coming off rather dry at times.

Why Someone Might Hate Them: Andy’s abrasive, like I said. He’s rough around the edges to strangers. He might come off as rude but he’s just kinda doing that thing Rocket Raccoon does where he pushes people away coz he feels he’s unworthy of it.

He’s also broken into people’s cars and shit. Crimes for days.

How They Change: Andy’s first introduced as a guy without much else to do but scream in the Killing Jokes and act like he’s Batman brooding alone in the corner of the bar. But as time passes and he becomes closer with Kris and co. (mostly Kris), he starts to open up a bit more. We see the bad parts of him and the good parts as well. It’s a nice progression I have planned or him.

Why You Love Them: I really love Andy’s aesthetics. Torn clothes, the scars, the punk idiot with a heart of gold under all the grime. Plus he’s a tall, wiry fox. He’s fun to draw in that regard, too. And his personality is a fun one to write. Young, reckless, and a good time all around.

So I watched the whole entire CMAs instead of Game 7 of the World Series and don't regret a single choice I made (the game went into extras, you don’t really have to watch baseball until the ninth inning tbh), and it struck me how much of a dorky theatre kid Brad Paisley was. He's objectively a great guitarist, like hokey as this song is and as little I know about music I think that's a dope fucking guitar line, but gosh darn, he was trying so hard the whole time at those CMAS! And that puts a song like this in perspective, because, like I said, it's hokey as fuck, but if you can just understand that Brad Paisley's sense of humor is that of someone who understands that being funny is a way to be Liked and is trying his best to be Liked, it sort of comes together and you can brush it off.

FUCK DUDE LIL' WAYNE USED TO BE GOOD. Like OK I think we all know I wanted to come here and be like "look at the humble beginnings of the meme man! He wasn't such a meme in these days!" but then there was a Lil' Wayne verse where he wasn't fucking around with Auto-tune, he was just rapping, and he was such a good fucking rapper that I'm actually angrier at the two "verses" he had on those Nicki Minaj songs a couple weeks back. It's not even one of his more notable verses, I don't think, it was just a normal 10-year-old Wayne verse, but I'm still here like, what a treat, a Lil' Wanye feature I don't mind! How lucky we were in 2007!

87) "Get Buck," Young Buck

HOLY SHIT THIS FUCKING BEAT THE TUBA HAS NEVER HAD A BETTER DAY IN ITS LIFE. OK, this is the first 2007 track I think has been unjustifiably forgotten by time. “Say OK” hit me, but I think that was just a moment for me. This is objectively a classic, this fucking beat, man. Young Buck doesn't add a ton to the proceedings, but he doesn't ruin anything, his gruff, shouty flow is perfect for the beat, and I'll admit, I got a dark chuckle out of the "I can serve Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown" line. This was fuckin' rad, y'all, the best "new to me" song I've heard so far. Seriously this beat, how have we not found a better home for it, how did no one else latch onto it. A strong silver medalist in the "Southern rap songs with the word 'buck' in the title" category.

89) "A Woman's Love," Alan Jackson

Alan Jackson, last seen walking out on Beyonce's performance at the CMAs, is here singing a jaunty tune about how one time he fucked.

91) "Love Today," MIKA

i mean it's just a good song, man, i dunno. i'm allowed to just say when a song is solid and something i can jam to, right, when i don't think i have anything to justify? it's low-rent scissor sisters. I'LL TAKE THAT ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. solid week.

95) "Forever," Papa Roach

...oh goddamnit i love this song. No, you don't... Lemme explain. I need to explain, so lemme. So, I listened to a lot of the local buttrock station in my teens, because that's what the radio at the auto shop where I worked was always tuned to, was 93X. And, I dunno, there's a lot of bullshit I forgot and a lot of shit too horrible to purge from the mind, I've heard the acoustic version of Staind's "Outside" more times than any man ever should, but there were some songs where the Stockholm Syndrome hit, and you were like, "Well, maybe Chevelle isn't ALL bad." This was definitely the point where I was like, "Hey, this is the one decent Papa Roach song!" I was legit angry when I realized this was that song, I forgot I ever loved a Papa Roach song, I was 10000% sure this was a cover because there was no way I was going to go anywhere but IN on this song, but no, this is a song I shouted in the shower at least five times. I'm so disappointed in myself right now, but... But, yeah, this is, I can’t quite place where they cribbed the verses from but they cribbed well, the chorus is shouty and fake-deep like all the great buttrock songs, and I love that ending, the “one last kiss” thing over that bass line, without reservation. We have to be true to who we were, and who we are is never fully removed from who we were. I hate this. I hate having to admit this. THE ONE PAPA ROACH SONG I FUCK WITH, AND IT HAS TO BE PART OF THIS PROJECT. I HAVE TO TALK ABOUT A KENDRICK LAMAR SONG SOON, AND HERE I AM, FUCKING WITH A PAPA ROACH SONG, THROWING MY CRITICAL AUTHORITY OUT WITH THE BATHWATER.

97) "Breath," Breaking Benjamin

I have less reservations about loving a Breaking Benjamin song, though, because Breaking Benjamin wasn't fake-deep like Papa Roach. ("My feelings for you are forever." God, that's stupid. I love a very stupid thing.) No, Breaking Benjamin was legit dark, they were a buttrock band I knew was OK because my friend who ended up going to a semi-prestigious art high school of some renown was into them. Is it the same song as "The Diary of Jane?" Yeah, kinda, there's more than a little resemblance, "THE DIARY OF JANE" IS A LEGIT GREAT SONG AND BITING THAT SONG IS A SMART MOVE.

22) "The Heart Part 4," by Kendrick Lamar

I mean, with the way I do this thing, everything that's been said about this song has been said, and I'm hella late to the party, trying to get another round of Pin the Tail on the Donkey started. "You didn't have fun without me, I'm about to have fun WITH you!" No Bob! we already played that game Bob!. "BLINDFOLD ME!" I think it's vitally important that Kendrick Lamar remind everyone that he's the best MC alive right now, because he is, and gosh, he just fucking raps for four minutes. Barely a hook, just Kendrick Lamar verses and flows for a solid four minutes, and I'm really curious how many rappers could sustain a song for four (mostly) uninterrupted minutes just on their own. Minimalist production, it's just your voice and your words. I'd put Danny Brown in that category, but it'd be a bleak-ass four minutes. I want to put Killer Mike in that category, but I have to think there's a reason he works best in a duo. I'd want to listen to what four minutes of undiulted Young Thug would sound like?, but more out of curiosity than belief in his ability. And I mean Kendrick's the only one in the popular consciousness who could do it, no fuckin’ question, there's no one in the mainstream rap world anywhere NEAR his level. (Kendrick Lamar is barely mainstream, of course, and that fact is a source of much consternation on this song, like there's no way the entire Kendrick album breaks the Hot 100 like the entire Drake album did, but he was in a Tay Tay song the one time and that's enough.) Just listening to Kendrick Lamar rap is one of the most thrilling songs I've heard for YAS 2017. Honestly, I'm ranking it too low in the Top 20, but only because I have to think better things are on their way and am wary of that recency bias wave.

49) "XO Tour Lif3," by Lil Uzi Vert

Congratulations on being the modern rap song which followed "The Heart Part 4!" You were always going to suffer in comparison, and while I regret that it happened to you, I hope you understand it had to happen to someone. I mean, this is a three-minute song, and at some point I got bored enough that I forgot I was supposed to be paying attention to come up with an observation and/or a joke and did other things. Not even shit I needed to take care of, I checked Facebook and thought about getting a glass of milk until he started saying all his friends are dead, like what?, oh okay I guess that's how this song ends then, OH FUCK well prolly not worth dipping back in if I got that distracted.

61) "Speak to a Girl," by Tim McGraw & Faith Hill

So over the last four weeks, only three women have had tracks debut on the Hot 100. That's pretty cool. One of the three dudes who wrote this song, about what a girl REALLY wants from a man, was also a co-writer on Jason Derulo's "Wiggle," which is, I mean, I'm going off Wikipedia, I'm hopeful this is too awful to be true, but if it isn't, how does that dude sleep at night? What does that dude believe in? Who is his god, just, to what moral authority is our man Joe London holding himself accountable? Do Not Trust Joe London. Another of the songwriters worked with a band called Confederate Railroad. Country music is the coolest. I'm so proud to like this genre.

66) "Still Got Time," by ZAYN ft./PARTYNEXTDOOR

First of all, we need to take a minute to discuss the sheer disrespect for the concept of caps lock expressed by ZAYN and PARTYNEXTDOOR. This is a mumblecore pop song, and I must insist these dudes cease using all capital letters until they prove they're capable of expressing excitement. Other than that gripe, though, I dunno, I didn't have a bad time! I enjoyed it about as much as I did "Running Back" a few weeks ago, it didn't light this Tuesday evening on fire, but it was a chill groove, and I appreciated the B+ to which all involved contributed. Also, new favorite Wikipedia line: "Shane Lindstrom, professionally known as Murda Beatz." One, professionally known. Two, imagine ever asking someone to call you Murda. Gosh, what a stupid fucking stage name. (Stage name? Backstage name? Why do you need an alias bro you're a fucking producer, you don't get to have a fake name, the fuck makes you think you can have a fake name. Even Swizz Beatz rapped sometimes, what is your goddamned problem Murda Beatz.)

I Love Nick Viall, But He Needs To Get His Shit Together

Welcome to this week’s recap! We need to talk about Nick Viall!!!!

Our boy is a messy bitch.

Dude is 36 and a 4-time contestant and he just cannot get his shit together. He has a handpicked selection of 25 beautiful, (mostly) employed, relatively pleasant (if not somewhat crazy, because, reality TV) women and so far he hasn’t had real chemistry with even ONE of them.

Part of this has to do with Nick’s lack of self-awareness. He spent a lot of his life feeling (rightfully) like a nerd. He suddenly got famous and a hot cross-fit bod and someone told him how to do his hair. It’s overwhelming. I think he said yes to because it was aspirational to him to be fought over, but spent exactly zero time thinking about how the kind of girls who go on the show are not the kind he specifically is going to connect with.

I’m going to do the recap in the typical way, talking about how the girls did this week even though it’s not really fair to present the episode as if it’s still a competition. It’s more like everyone hanging out for a few weeks and at the end Nick takes one of them aside and asks if she wants to be his part time fwb “or something”.

Jasmine played herself out of this game. I liked her and wanted to see more of her, but there’s just no coming back from being that neurotic. The one thing that never helps a relationship where you feel like you’re more in it than the other person is announcing that observation to the other person.

Tho, I am a huge fan of this line “I’ve been to St. Thomas. I don’t need you to bring me here.”

Also previous trailers for this season kind of made it seem like Jasmine was going to develop into villain #2 after Corinne, her being kicked off without that ever having happened makes that editing seem vaguely racist.

Whitney

We all saw Whitney’s exit coming. They didn’t give her any screen time or plot — even though she’s v hot and seems cool. But I also think a good rule of thumb is that the kind of person who doesn’t get a lot of screen time on a reality show is probably also the kind of person you’d want to know in real life.

Danielle L

Danielle L is one of the hottest women I’ve ever seen on television so I’ve been surprised all season that Nick hasn’t shown a gigantic preference for her — and especially surprised he two-on-one-d her last night. I actually know it’s true that beautiful people still have problems, but it still reads as cognitive dissonance for my brain. I mean, look:

I know, objectively, that being beautiful isn’t an end all, be all but damn. In a show all about attraction, Danielle L can’t make it through. I realize this is mostly about the kind of guy Nick is and how he should have never gone on the show to begin with, but it seems insane that he can’t feel an attraction for her.

As she limo cries her way out of the show Danielle L says “maybe I’m just not perfect” which is truly sad because she basically is??? So, there’s a bottomless pit of people below her who are even less perfect and somehow still can’t be enough for someone. Life is so fun!!!! I’m such a fan.

For some reason Kristina surprised me this episode. I had assumed she was filler before but her date with Nick was very sweet and genuine. I’m a fan now.

Raven

I started out liking Raven but she grows on me more every week (though, like Corinne I also think she is not right for Nick). Did anyone else notice she seemed super psyched when they house realized Corinne got to stay?

Danielle M

Danielle M is definitely a frontrunner. She’s the kind of combo of sweet and “serious” that could convince Nick she’s a good pick, even though she’s not right for him. (Hidden theme of this season: women who are not right for Nick).

Vanessa

All the Thought Catalog girls are totally convinced Nick is going to end up with Vanessa. I think he’s going to get to the end and think “well Vanessa is very serious” and confuse that with making the right choice. Vanessa is actually awful and even though I think Nick is a little bit not-a-catch, he can do better than to settle for the kind of boring, conventional relationship/life she wants.

Rachel

Rachel accomplishes being neurotic without being a Debbie Downer. She’s honest and vulnerable, in a positive way that brings Nick closer. For the 500th time, she’s too good for Nick, so pls let her be the next Bachelorette.
