For all of the Santa Clauses flaws, one thing stuck out while watching it, and that's that the Santa coat literally dragged itself away from Simon, but in TSC3? It did nothing when Jack put it on. Like....Jack Frost was right all along? Also, we're gonna just ignore how other Legendary Figures cannot affect one another with magic (per Cupid in TSC2), but Jack can still become Santa despite being a Legendary Figure himself? Like...I have so many questions about these movies.
Well Anon, the GOOD NEWS is I have HEADCANONS for you instead of the obvious "the series did not pay attention to the movie continuity at all and that's why the discrepancies" (tho that is my first and foremost reason!)
1. The coat let Jack take it bc Scott needed to learn a lesson (he needed to remember where he came from and how much good it did him and remember that he loves the job and his family, and the coat went okay. We gonna do this the HARD WAY, huh? SADDLE UP FROST LET'S BOOGIE)
2. Jack becoming Santa wasn't done by another legendary figure's magic, it was because of the clause which, though magical, is more of an agreement/arrangement than one Legendary Figure using their magic on ANOTHER Legendary Figure.
Like I take that to mean that Mother Nature can't unfreeze Jack, and also Jack can't freeze the other council members. Cupid's arrows won't work on Legendary Figures, Santa can't actually see what the Council Members are doing (a la the SEES U WHEN UR SLEEPIN KNOWS WHEN UR AWAKE thing) you know, THAT sort of thing. And that's why Jack was able to use the Clause to become Santa! Semantics! :)
#anonymous#ask box shenanigans#dani answers#the Santa clause#the Santa clause 2#the santa clause 3#the santa clauses#tbh anon I'd have questions about the series too but every time I think of one#my writing brain goes WELL HERE'S WHY#and also I go by the timeless adage bequethed to me by my friend near. it is.#SUSPEND YOUR FUCKING DISBELIEF!#it has served me well in the years since 😊#anywhomst. thank you for the ask anon! :)

Hi k! I love reading your ojp scholarship, as he has crept up on me and taken over my brain. Weird question but why do you think he picked Lando as his guy to be a bit weird about?
hi anon 🥺 first off thank u for indulging me & also that is not a weird question at all!!!
ok obviously this is just me saying Anything so i apologize in advance T__T but tbh i think a lot of it ultimately goes back to the idea of lando's ~Proximity~ and how a very specific mélange of career circumstance laid out a foundation for oscar's interest extremely early on... which. let me explain!!! more behind the cut:
not to go on too much of a tangent but if you look at the current drivers in f1 who are roughly within a few years of oscar's age and could have feasibly been someone he'd looked up to coming up the ranks, i'd say the cutoff is like, 2018? so the group is basically charles/george/alex/lando, of whom the first 3 were alr in intrepid together (albeit in diff categories) when oscar had barely started karting at all. also alex moved up to single-seaters very early and his career/road to f1 is obviously a lot more complex than the others, so in reality the only ones oscar would have properly "followed" are lando and george, and then having gone through rfm & british f4 himself it makes sense that he'd lean more toward lando.
...idk how to put this succinctly but basically it's Like: so you're a kid in australia who believes in yourself so much you're willing to move halfway across the globe and attend boarding school by yourself while all your friends and family and the World As You've Always Known It grows and changes without you, and the team you're determined to prove yourself at has semi-recently achieved victory with a guy named lando norris, who is now british f4 champion and runs three separate series the same year you move to europe and goes on to win them all, who is extremely accessible on social media and is kind of awkward but charming and uses dumb unfunny gifs that match your level of online humor exactly, and all the while you're learning to navigate a new country, learning what it really means to prioritize the endless grind of motorsport, and you wouldn't dare look too far ahead into the future but sometimes you see him and think if he can keep winning everything then why not you?
So. also i think what always krills meeee about young_814 lore is that you have to really envision what they looked like circa 2016 like they were undersized dweebs for a majority of their lives!!! anyway. but also nasdlfnagk every time oscar is like i thought you were 30 with your goatee going on haha xD it's like U knowww he's flashing back to that image of little baby lando in his mind..... ok i need to relax.
there are of course other people oscar could have been weird about but in the end it's kind of just a Skill Issue thing / matter of attrition. like from the rfm pack max and logan and guanyu never progressed the same way lando did, and you also have to remember that by the time lando was a mclaren junior he was genuinely their Golden BoyTM, and i know we often talk about lando's competency kink but oscar is also similar to that but in like a ........ he needs to respect you on some fundamental level to be obsessed with you. so the fact that he genuinely rates lando contributes (imo) massively to the fundamentals of their dynamic!!!
also tbh to me one of oscar's biggest mental strengths is specifically that he isn't a very sentimental person, as in if he left to another team i don't think he'd be torn up or anything about not having lando as a teammate lol. but i DO believe he's someone who adapts very well to unfamiliar environments and is always willing to match someone's energy/meet them where they're at (again - especially when he respects them), so he's basically the perfect person to vibe with lando's idiosyncrasies and engage in all the lighthearted push/pulling they have going on. because like he genuinely thinks lando is funny and is more than happy to follow along his meandering bantz and the weirder lando is the weirder oscar is in response and that's just how they Work ?__? so At the end of the day it's: oscar was once a teenage boy who followed (still does) at ladbible instagram and watched the same gaming streamers lando likes or whatever and has seen lando grow into the man he is today (way more confident and "visible" and successful, very much a menace, brutally honest as ever) from this Very Specific vantage point of basically the only other junior after lando to have followed the same path to f1 and been Equally as good / achieved the same stock.
*__* does any of that make sense.
do u ever think about how lando (extensively nurtured by the team as their only junior) and oscar (basically crashlanded belatedly into his seat) are the only driver pairing in team history to have both debuted with mclaren........ do you ever think about how in a way lando's karting success indirectly influenced oscar's move to europe. do you ever think about how if alpine weren't an abject mess we would have never gotten 814 as teammates and lando would have just been Another Guy On The Grid to him........ 😮💨

Hi, Doreen.
I saw that anon ask about FK's chemistry and wanted to add my two cents.
My take on it is somewhat similar to yours, Doreen, but slightly different. Basically, I believe that (like any actor pair in the BL industry) they do amp things up for the fans to an extent because that's (unfortunately) a part of the job. However, I don’t think the emotional stuff (like the crying) is a performance. Do I think them answering a suggestive question in a slightly flirty manner at a fan meeting is fanservice? Yes. Do I think them posting pics together on social media almost every day is done for the fans? Yes. (Btw, this doesn't mean they wouldn't hang out if they weren't in a BL couple, but they certainly wouldn't have done it as often or post pics of it all the time.)
But I think whenever they actually talk about the deeper stuff, it's genuine and not just fanservice and I especially think so when it comes to the crying. Well, tbh, idk about Khao because he's harder for me to read (I think it's because he gives off chill/nonchalant vibes and people like that have always been hard for me to read whether they're genuine or not) but First just reads very authentic to me. Of course he's still going to keep certain things private (as he should) but the things that he does share about himself are genuine imo. The thing about getting emotional/crying about his bestie is: Would he have done it if the two of them weren't an established BL pair? No, of course not. Not because he doesn’t genuinely care, but because why would he ever give his friendships a deeper thought? Because why would any of us? I certainly don't go around evaluating what my best friends really mean to me unprompted. But if suddenly I had people (interviewers, fans, possibly management/other gmmtv staff too) barraging me with questions and prompts about what my bestie means to me or how I'd feel if they were gone from my life, it sure as hell would make me think about that stuff and probably get emotional. And that's without the added circumstance of me suddenly spending most of my time with that person now for work (work that sometimes involves kissing them on top of that). To me it seems incredibly plausible that all of that shared experience and time spent together makes you closer and your friendship stronger. And while, yes, those emotional moments are definitely goaded out of them by staff/interviewers/etc. it doesn’t mean that makes them an act. Sure, they wouldn't start bawling unprompted but the feelings are still there, you know? Just becaise they needed a push, it doesn't mean they're fake.
And yeah, I agree they were definitely more awkward at the start of their journey together as a BL pair because who wouldn't feel and act awkward if they had to act out being in love with their friend and having to kiss them? But do I think the fact that they're not as awkward with it anymore and are more playful about it means they're faking it for the fans? No, I just think with time they got used to it and that's why it doesn't feel as awkward anymore. After you do something for a while, it becomes less weird to you even if it was very weird in the beginning.
I also want to say I actually don't think they're acting all that different now than they did a few years ago. I've seen content of them together back from like 2020 and even earlier (aka before they ever knew they'd be paired up for a series one day) and they were pretty much the same as they are now - bantering all in good fun while also getting sappy at each other and even a little flirty (joking around). They had no reason to do fanservice back then or amp anything up. Which is part of the reason why I believe so strongly that they're not just acting. There's a higher volume of content from them now (for obvious reasons) but the content itself is very similar.
Just for comparison: I don’t think all acting pairs are like this, btw. For example, as much as I like JoongDunk and believe they're definitely genuine friends, I do think they (especially Dunk) love to play things up for the cameras and do things for fansevice a lot. And even in my deepest obsession with Bad Buddy when the series first came out I always felt that there was something about the way Ohm acted in ON interviews/fanmeets/etc. that felt somewhat inauthentic to me. I do believe they're friends (or at least were, idk what's going on now since I don’t follow them anymore) but it always seemed to me like Ohm was forcing things a bit/acting to some extent while Nanon rang genuine to me. But honestly, FK (especially First) are two people from gmmtv who just feel the most genuine to me out of everyone. Maybe that's why I'm so drawn to them.
To bring it back to the anon's original question: Do FK have real romantic chemistry outside of their series? I don’t know about "romantic" chemistry but they definitely have chemistry, period (aka a bond, aka they're close friends). I don’t think they're faking anything, I just think different people see it differently. For example, if you think they give off romantic chemistry specifically but in reality their "chemistry" is platonic, it doesn't mean they were faking romantic chemistry, it just means you interpreted the chemistry they do have in a romantic way for whatever reason. At the same time, many people only ever interpreted that same chemistry as purely platonic.
Anyways, hope this is ok. Just wanted to share my opinion, which at the end of the day is just that - an opinion. The truth is none of us will ever know for sure because we only know these people through a screen. Either way it's always best to just enjoy the content you're given without needless speculation about actual romantic attraction/chemistry.
hi anon!
thank you for this lengthy ask lmao. You make a lot of good points but I think we should keep in mind not to overanalyze real-life relationships so I'm gonna try and keep it short.
Don't get me wrong, I also think they're 100% real about what they do and say and I agree that they're (subjectively speaking) the most genuine people at gmmtv. What I meant is that they're taking the natural chemistry they have and play it up, which, again, is a very normal thing to do so I'm fine with that lol. Nothing they do or imply is fake, it's just magnified for the cameras lol.
I agree about First being authentic with his emotional reactions but that doesn't mean he's not intentionally triggering the tear ducts every now and then lol. He's good at that, exhibit A: every one of his crying scenes lol. But I also agree with you that a lot of his responses are probably circumstantial and that being said I sometimes get the feeling that he feels a little overwhelmed in general. He's not a newbie but he is new to being under the big BL spotlight and evidently that's pressure-inducing. Everyone reacts to these things differently and I think he feels a little unsure about how to act sometimes. Like you said Khao comes across a lot more chill so either he doesn't have the same issues or he's hiding it very well lol.
But anyway my point is I agree that what they have is real but like I said they're inflating it - in a way that still feels very genuine. That plus First being an emotional person as it is results in him having unprompted breakdowns lol. But who are we to judge. These are the things that make him so precious.
I don't want to over-interpret their relationship because that's not the point of being a fan in my opinion and also verges on creepy lol so that all I'm gonna say about this ✌🏻

20 Questions For Fic Writers
Thanks to both @somanywords and @zenaidamacrouras1 for tagging me 💛
I'm gonna put my answers under a cut, lest this post becomes a nuisance on other people's dash lol
I don't know who already did this in my very small circle of fic writer friends here, so for any writers who see this and want to do it too, you are hereby officially tagged 🤗
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
I currently have 7 works on AO3, two translations and 5 that I've actually written. I kind of think of those 5 as one fic though, bc it's one series, and on my laptop it's all one big document
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
493,817 (I can already say though that by the time my series will be fully posted, that number will be much higher, possibly even doubled)
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Marve (more specifically the MCU), and exclusively Stucky
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
These City Walls
Carried the Cross
The Hand of a Devil
Still Running
Loosened Chains
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I always try to respond to every comment I get. If I ever don't respond to one, it's absolutely by accident. I want to encourage people to leave comments as much as I can, and I want to give back the appreciation I receive
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Uhm. All of them? I stick with canon, which is pretty much only angst, and I can't exactly make it better by filling the gaps realistically.
If I had to pick one though, I feel like Carried the Cross is the angstiest, given that everyone knows what comes next and that it'll be awful
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
The one with the happiest happy ending is currently in the making. The others that I've posted and/or finished writing, while certainly having happy moments, still end more or less angstily
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I had a few anons a while back that called me a copycat and plagiarist. They told me to take down my work bc it was a ripoff of another famous stucky series with the same premise. It's the one I did those translations for in fact.
And that's something I sometimes think myself, so it's not like I don't see their point. But the messages were written so rudely that I deleted them rather than open a whole can of worms of discourse about that
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I did/do write smut, yes, but none of that is in the fics I posted so far. And the way I write it is definitely very tame, compared to what's out there. But I think the way I write it fits the style I established for the series, and it fits the vibe I'm going for. Maybe when I'll get to editing those chapters I'll make it more explicit, but for now it's pretty mild
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I don't, given that I'm doing canon-verse fic. It would probably be fun to give it a try, and maybe one day I will, but right now I'm planning on taking a break from fic writing as soon as I'm done with the series, so idk if or when that's gonna be in the cards
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
If so, I don't know about it. I hope not
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Sadly not. I'd love that though, I would be so so so excited to get translations or fanart, and especially a podfic version made from my series
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Also no. I don't know if I'm cut out for that tbh, I'm very particular about the way I want things to be written. So I'm not really sure if I'm the most pleasant person to work with in that respect
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Stucky. Duh
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I am not writing 90k+ wips only to not finish and publish them. Everything I've worked on so far will be published, if it's the last thing I ever do
16. What are your writing strengths?
From the feedback I've received, I'd say it's digging into the deep, complex emotional states of my characters. I've also been told that the way I'm writing them all is very authentic and in character, and that I'm doing a good job with fleshing them out. Which is important for what I'm trying to do with the series, so that's also something I'm proud of
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I am way way too wordy sometimes. I constantly have to cut down my sentences and try to turn them into several shorter ones, bc they get too long or too repetitive. I'm also not entirely sure about the way I handle dialogue, which is kind of a shame since the whole project started with me wanting to practice doing that
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Yes yes yes!! I love it. I loved being able to bring in my native language (german). But even more than that, I like including languages I can kind of understand. I did some French, and luckily I had help with not just getting the meaning across but making it sound like actual native speakers would say it. With Spanish, which I don't speak at all, I asked a friend who's a native speaker, though that was only two lines or so. Also, when I was working on the series and the post-CATFA parts were coming up, I started doing some Russian on duolingo, to drop some phrases here and there. I do have some help there too, but not by a native speaker in this case. Still, it helps to have a second opinion of someone who actually learned this stuff in school
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Stucky is my one and only so far
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Like I said, I kind of think of them all as one big fic, so it's hard to judge. I'm proudest of the one that I'm publishing atm, Loosened Chains, simply bc it's my own post-CATWS fic and those are my personal favourite to read. Skill-wise, I think the best I did is one I haven't published yet, so I'll withhold that information for now
So... there you go! Thanks again for tagging me, guys, I really enjoyed this 🥰✌️

How would you rank the Saw movies? Any not worth watching?
this is such a great question and tbh very hard for me bc i don't think i've ever put down in writing my ranking of the franchise, but i will try for you anon :)
saw – self explanatory, they had a dirty bathroom and a dream and they made one of the best and most iconic horror movies of all time
saw 3 – this movie adds so much complexity to the timeline and there is sooo much amanda content thank god
saw 6 – this is one of the most fun saw movies to me, we get some really interesting critiques of the american healthcare system and i love the twist so much. i have a great time every time i rewatch it and i really feel like i could talk about it forever
saw 2 – this is a really great sequel with some really solid twists
saw x – this could be recency bias considering i just saw this movie a few nights ago, but it was so phenomenal i was genuinely trying not to giggle and clap the entire time. it was so lovely to see tobin bell and shawnee smith back in saw movies and it provided a really interesting look at both jigsaw and amanda's psyches
saw 4 – has probably my favorite opening trap in the whole franchise and a solid plot, very enjoyable
saw 5 – i still really like this movie but the theme is pretty similar to saw 2 and the big twist was really predictable to me. points for homoerotic hoffstram
spiral – this certainly was a movie! i do like the acab parts of this film and samuel l jackson is fun
jigsaw – there are some interesting traps in this movie and that's all i can really say
saw 7 – i hate this movie sooooo much, i've rewatched it several times but god every time i am just miserable. the only highlights are the linkin park cameo, finally seeing the reverse bear trap in action, and the scene at the very end
this isn't a definitive ranking and i'd probably end up switching around a few of the movies if i stared at it for too long, but my favorites are for sure saw 1-3 and saw 6. the first 6 movies are absolutely worth watching to me, i have such a great time on every rewatch. tbh if you dissociate during jigsaw and spiral and pretend like they aren't related to the rest of the franchise they're not terrible, but they just can't compare to saw 1-6 or saw x. i think saw 7 is probably worth watching if you're really invested in the series just bc it was intended to be the final movie so it answers quite a few questions, but it is still very bad.

Do you think my little pony every generation is cute? because I love all of them because they are so cute and pretty yes including g3.5 newborn cuties because baby ponies are cute
oh my glitter yes!!💖 anon you get me!!! 😆🥺💖 my brain is just like; criteria for me loving a show:
cute ponies (or other characters) ✅
makes me laugh ✅
pretty colours/designs/backgrounds ✅
songs and or pretty background music or sounds ✅
nothing that makes me feel uncomfortable (like heavy amounts of gross out humor for example, ew) ✅
good voice acting ✅
and there you have it! g5 is soooo cute! it checks all the boxes for me, my only "issue" with it is that I think it's scary how it takes place in the future of g4 other than that awesome! just watching cute ponies hanging out and goofing around and being friends is my favourite thing ever!!
g1: love it!!! first encounter with pastel horses! got a dvd box with the series for christmas one year and I still love them so much!!
g3: love it!! got an advent calendar with some super cute stuff and mini scootaloo, rainbow dash and pinkie pie one year but hadn't watched any of it until last year (NEED to watch more it's just so adorable!! also hope I can watch some of it in swedish one day! that'd be so fun!)
g4: you already know how much I adore twilight & co. that's pretty hard to miss
equestria girls: yes yes yes should've gone on for longer tbh
g4.5: pony life my beloved I will never understand what people have against you lol
g5: cuuuuute! can't wait for the next episodes whenever that is, I think there's going to be a holiday special and I'm so excited!!
the only generations I haven't watched are g2 (or is it g1.5 people call it I never remember) and g3.5 but I have nothing against them! (and I'll also probably watch g3.5 at some point 'cause it seems like I'd love it too!)
I often feel like I'm dumb because I just idk I think simpler(??) than other people, like I guess I'm not as critical but (and even though I'm going to continue thinking this about myself I will now proceed to tell everyone else:) there's nothing wrong with just liking something (*sped up tv commercial voice* as long as you liking that thing isn't hurting you or others in some way) just because you think it's cute, fun or whatever, you don't need to write a 50 page essay on pros and cons and compare it with a bunch of stuff y'know, does anyone know what I'm saying!? 😂 there is no this is bad and this is good stamp on things because everyone enjoys different aspects of different things and have different preferences. I dislike marvel movies and think equestria girls is one of the best things ever, does that make stupid? no! does it make me smarter than people who think the opposite? no! it's simply makes me a person with preferences, different people seek out different things in different media because different things have different meanings to different people, and that's okay! some people love to pick apart and analyze every aspect of a show and look for deeper meanings and lore and while I too can appreciate things like that sometimes my main reason for liking something is does it make me feel happy and do I enjoy looking at it and listening to it? and both of those ways of enjoying something is valid! 🧡
I'm sorry this is long but like you start a conversation or ask me a question about something I like and I never stop talking! 🤣💖 thank you anon for sending me this question, I love talking about ponies of any generation (oooor equestria girls) so feel free to come by and say hi some other time too if you want! 😂💖🦄💖🦄💖

Can I ask you something? If Bls fetishize gay men, is there really anyway to ethically consume any series at all?
hiiii anon!!!!
oh good question.
ok. so. i think recent bl's, i'd say .... from 2020-ish, maybe even 2018/2019 tbh, have taken that step forward where, they're tryna move away from blantant fetishising, and become more progressive, not just towards gay men, but the asian queer community in general, and anyone who identifies themselves within that community.
that being said, of course there will be instances where queer asian people, including queer asian men, will be fetishised.
i think the biggest example in terms of progression has been in the sheer amount different genres of asian queer shows that are produced, and in addition to that, in the increasing number of people who both behind the cameras and in front of them identify as asian and queer too.
also i feel like the way sex is used in asian queer shows has shifted. yes, of course, there are still instances of rape/non-con/dub-con, but there was a time when sex was Literally Only used within asian queer shows For That Only. now? sex is used to explore dynamics, explore feelings, progress a story, progress a relationship. its treated as a character, in a sense, and given some meaning and substance. also, that includes the whole top/bottom discourse too. like. i think there's just more looseness and freedom to it now? like. yeah, some characters LIKE bottoming, some LIKE topping, some ARE versatile! for example, i call pete from kinnporsche a pillow princess ALL the time, and thats bc he IS. thats with no malice or rudeness or any intent to fetishise him as being all weak and delicate, usually the traits that are associated with "being a bottom", bc he isnt weak or delicate! but during sex, he LIKES being the taker, he likes receiving, and that plays a huuuuge part in his character's development later on in the show.
i'd also say "coming out stories" have recently not been .... THAT heavily used, within recent shows that i have watched? and thats not to say that coming out stories arent important! of course they are. or there's a lesser case of characters having internalised homophobia, filled with shame and self-loathing bc they realise they're queer, in recent shows i have watched. thats not to say they dont question who they are, they do, but they dont hate themselves for being queer. its more a case of exploration. and its so nice to see that for a change? asian queer characters being gentle on themselves, learning to treat themselves with patience and time to navigate their identity. and its so nice to also see asian queer characters for a change who are just, queer! loud and queer!
what i'm trying to say is that they are all stories at the end of the day. and all forms of story telling, from healthy to toxic, from stories of kids in school to students in uni to working adults, from coming out stories to stories that talk about sparking a political revolution, stories that are coming of age or a slice of life, stories that span all types of backgrounds and time periods, should be able to be told. and sometimes they'll have characters that are already so comfortably queer in their own skin and some that aren't, and there'll be some stories that are more tame in terms of how physical they are and like to explore the more emotional nuances of the story and some that like to explore sex in a multitude of ways. there's really no right or wrong in terms of wanting to set out a story and choosing which way to tell it. the scope is so huge.
now. like i said. not every asian queer piece of media will be faultless, and there will be instances of fetishisation. but i also want to look at how far we've come! i've been around watching asian queer media since ... god .... i cant even remember how long, its been that long, and ive seen how far we've come. as an asian queer person myself, it gives me so much pride and joy in seeing that!
and i think, the older and more mature i have gotten, my mindset has changed a lot. now, i like to see stories and media as a whole thing. that, yes, there will be faults and its not going to be perfect. but as someone who can compartmentalise, as a consumer, as an audience member, as an asian queer person, as someone who is watching this as a form of escapism, i'll recognise the faults and the things i'm not fond of, or that dont sit right with me, and put them to one side, and still allow myself to enjoy the rest of the story/media. otherwise, i'll never be able to enjoy anything ever again, if i scrutinise every single little thing and every little detail ethically. like i said, not everything will sit right with me, but i can work with that and say "yeah i didnt like that narrative choice" and put it to a side, and move on. and if its reeeeeeally bugging me, i'll just drop the show. now, some people like doing that (scrutinising every little detail through ethical lenses) and thats their choice in how they view media. but ig i'm not like that? and i can let myself enjoy asian queer stories that are trying to say something, to convey something, as a bigger picture.
and yeah, there will be instances where queer characters in asian media will get fetishised, there will be the whole "husband and wife" and "girls on campus stalking a queer couple" etc etc etc. but i can look at all that and say to myself, yeah, work needs to be done here, whilst also enjoying the rest of the show and what its trying to convey or tell.
so yeah, i do think you can, if as a consumer, you can appreciate the bigger picture whilst also understanding that we've still got some room for progress.

Hey you ❤️
I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your blog as a Jopper fan, I really do. Your writing is so cool, I love every piece of it. And you were the first blog I discovered when I joined the Fandom. Now, I hope the bad shit in your life will go away at some point and although I'm just a Tumblr anon I wanted to give you some nice words! Best wishes to you! Really.
To further distract you, as you asked, here are five headcanon questions I'd like to know about Joyce/Jim.
1. What's one thing joyce has never told jim/was afraid to tell him?
2. If Joyce and Jim could time travel, and went to Lovers lake, to see their younger selves having a datenight, what would that scenario be like?
3. What is the most kinky thing they've ever done together?
4. What is your headcanon on Joyce telling Hopper about what Lonnie did to her?
5. What is your headcanon on them saying I love you for the first time?
You are so sweet. Thank you ❤️ These questions were super fun to answer btw :) :) I appreciate you sending them in -- mission accomplished
1. What's one thing joyce has never told jim/was afraid to tell him? Ohhhhhhhh my god. Okay, this is going to be a MAJOR spoiler alert for my fic. I know this is a hot topic and a bit controversial. It’s something Joyce can barely admit to herself because she’s convinced herself otherwise but... She’s afraid to tell Hopper that Will’s his son. Yes it’s so soap opera cliche, but I love it so pls don’t @ me lol
2. If Joyce and Jim could time travel, and went to Lovers lake, to see their younger selves having a datenight, what would that scenario be like? Because ST is so in love with cliches and nostalgia (hey! me too!), I like to think that they would have a not-a-date date on a hot summer night under the new moon. Joyce packs a picnic so they can lay out underneath the stars on the hood of Hopper’s dad’s Oldsmobile. They get drunk on cheap Boone’s, maybe smoke a joint and burn a pack of smokes, staying up til dawn. Late in the night, when the heat gets to be too much to bare, they strip down and jump in the water (Joyce first, egging Hop on...) and just before the sun comes up, Hopper builds her a fire to dry off. He even carves their initials into an old oak tree, right on the shores of Lover’s Lake.
3. What is the most kinky thing they've ever done together? Haha okay, so I have whole stories written about just this, but here’s the thing... I’m super shy about posting straight up smut. I may or may not post it to an anonymous account on Ao3 in the next little while, if I can work up the courage. If you happen to read a kinky E rated Jopper story on there soon, written by a new author, it will be pretty easy to tell it’s me if you know my writing style. But just pretend like it isn’t me okay? 😅 And for a short answer to tide you over: Hop likes to give face and Joyce is a bj queen. They both enjoy getting away with it in (semi)public but still keeping it as secretive as possible because they. just. can’t. admit their feelings for one another. Stubborn idiots. 4. What is your headcanon on Joyce telling Hopper about what Lonnie did to her? I think she hid it or downplayed it a lot to Hop. 1) Because she knew what both Hopper and Lonnie were capable of and it’s not that she wanted to protect Lonnie perse, she just didn’t want to be the cause of his murder. If anyone could murder someone in Hawkins and get away with it, it would be Hop as the chief of police lol. 2) Joyce felt like she could handle herself at first and like most victims of abuse, didn’t think it was that bad the way Lonnie was around her and the boys, that was just the way he was. And maybe he could change? 3) Eventually, she felt that she let Hopper down. She used to be so confident and sure of herself, that’s the Joyce that Hop left behind in Hawkins when he was drafted to ‘Nam. But that girl was long gone after 12 years married to Lonnie Byers. It made Hopper upset to see her make excuses for him, over and over again, not realizing she deserved better until it was too late.
TBH I think that played a small part in why they were so hostile to each other at the beginning of the series. These two suck at communication and being open and honest with each other.
5. What is your headcanon on them saying I love you for the first time? Joyce blurts it out first when they first get together as teens, but Hop doesn’t reciprocate it out loud. Joyce regrets saying it until weeks later, he blurts it out at her during a fight. She’s so mad though, it doesn’t register. They finally both say it at the same time, right as he has to leave :( These two have some bad fucking timing. But good news... I think they’ll both say it again pretty soon after Hopper comes back from Russia!

Hii! I recently found your blog and I enjoy going through it sm!! All your ideas are very interesting and it's really hard to find any Kuro content these days so I'm glad to have found this! I was wondering if you have any theories/ideas on Viscount of Druitt? He seems to be meddling in the occult quite a lot and tbh I'd be disappointed if he doesnt play some sort of role in the bigger picture of the series. Like he is eccentric enough to be played off as a joke character but he is also shady enough for him to be a legit obstacle ( also the fact that he was in the P4 along with Vincent made me 10 times more suspicious of him, especially with his hand resting on Vincent's shoulder)
in conclusion: that boy sus your honor.
Hello! So apparently, now long asks with different font size are a thing? :)
Anyway, thank you for reading and for the nice words!! (^3^)/ It’s very nice to hear that my ideas aren’t too outdated yet. :3
I was wondering if you have any theories/ideas on Viscount of Druitt?
Well, as you said so yourself, there is no such thing as a joke character in Kuroshitsuji, only foreshadowing and hints, so I’m pretty sure that there is more to him than just goofing around.
As for specific theories about him, feel free to check my tag for him: it has a lot of posts that I reblogged or wrote over the years.
Long story short, one way or another, he’s no entirely empty head (despite what we may think) and he’s been always foreshadowed to be seeking “power”:
(from the extra chapter 107.5, in which getting a higher-ranked rosette made you more “powerful”)
Aside from that, to quote from one of my old posts: “To this day though, personally I still don’t know what to make of him and of any possible link to the cult that abused the twins 4 years ago, as well as to the blue sect (since it’s yet another scientific organization and his nephew is involved).
I think the chances are far from 0 that he might be or might have been involved, it’s just that he is lucky enough to have avoided retribution all this time. Other great bloggers wrote very interesting posts on the subject too, especially on the matter of his character being inspired from a man named Aleister Crowley, so if you haven’t read them please check out:
@glacierspirit‘s post
@thedarkestcrow‘s post
@shinigami-mistress‘ post”
“also the fact that he was in the P4 along with Vincent made me 10 times more suspicious of him, especially with his hand resting on Vincent's shoulder”
Oh, just one thing though, I do remember the picture but, just to be clear...
...while it is indeed quite likely that it could be him (he went to Weston at some point + UT is strangely fond of him, could be all the laughing or could be that he’s an old friend of Vincent), for now there is no canon confirmation that the blond prefect next to Vincent is Druitt.
However I agree that if, it’s him, then it will be confirmed later in the story, probably when Ciel himself will be revealed to Druitt as Vincent’s son (since every time they’ve met so far, Ciel was always in disguise or never introduced himself as Earl Phantomhive).
Another thing is, if the blond prefect is Druitt, then it’s also likely that the fourth prefect might be a character we’ve met or that we will meet later (for example, Bravat? who knows :) courtesy of @theunstealthiestninja).
That’s all I have so far, I hope it answers your questions! Thank you again for the nice words and for passing by, I wish you a nice weekend Anon!! :)

hi bnha anon (i guess that's how i'll be called for now lol) and to answer your questions myself, yes i agree (tbh that's why i sent the asks to begin with?), yes i'd love to hear more (after you rest ofc) and yes your answers are coherent lol. thanks..
Hi again! I managed 7 hours of sleep!
I don't know how many people I'm upsetting with these posts, but it is definitely an interesting topic, so thanks. And let me take a little more of a positive take this time.
I won't keep going on again about negatives, simply because there definitely are good things in the series and I don't want to make it seem like that's not the case.
To me, there are 3 general elements that are important to note in a series. 1) Worldbuilding, 2) character writing, 3) plotting.
Horikoshi is very good at plotting, but often lacks the other 2.
The setting of MHA is fun and interesting, but it definitely is pretty generic. There's nothing unique, flipping the script and making everyone have powers as opposed to the opposite is quite cool, but nothing other than that. However, I really don't mind that. Worldbuilding is the least important for me. After all, not every single series requires that. Slice of life and period and things like that are based in real life, so it doesn't really require it. Even with things that do there's nothing wrong with generic. It doesn't mean bad by any means.
As I've already made it clear I think, I'm a little less forgiving (I feel weird using that word, but I can't think of anything else), when it comes to character writing. I won't keep going on about that. But characters are the heart and soul of any story. So the lack of depth there really is a problem. The characters are lovable enough but many lack that.
As I said, the plotting is the best thing in the series. Not that there are no issues there, I think the transitions between arcs are very noticeable and don't always flow well. But I can definitely tell Horikoshi knows what he's doing, and excels at that. The fight scenes themselves and the ideas behind the story are very solid. Despite my issues, I do indeed have some good things to say about the franchise.
I really did not like most of season 3, personally, but most of that relates to my distaste to many characters involved. The actual storyline, especially when it's in its stride, is really great.
When the story is at its prime and when it hits its emotional core, it's when I can truly see the reason it reached the heights of popularity that it did.
The sports festival, I still maintain, is the perfect example of when the story was at its best. It was the only time I remember crying at the series, and one of the reasons why the story started to fall for me afterwards. The sports festival showed the strengths of the series, the complications with the system this world has set up regarding quirks and social standards, and demonstrated just how strong it can be. In that arc, the influence of Deku's character actually made sense too.
Mostly, I do still think the way he won over Shinsou was.... ridiculous. Especially because the rules clearly stated "if a person is incapacitated or unconscious the match is over", so logically, shouldn't the match have been called as soon as Shinsou got him under his control? There was a good 2 minutes where he was unable to fight. Why the hell didn't they call it at that moment? Considering they called it for other fights a lot sooner. But I mean that happens in battle Shounens a lot. I'll excuse it.
I think season 2 is exactly when the series showed just how good it could be.
The only problem though is that arc did a wonderful job of setting characterizations up, which makes it so much more noticeable when the characters often seem to be shoved around to force the plot to be good. It feels as if the story is dead set on an outcome for everything with no room for variation. Which means there's no attempt made to make any sensical decisions in regards to the characters who are supposed to be impacting the story, because as opposed to the characters impacting the plot, they often tend to be pushed around to fit in with that is required of the story.
Todoroki is probably the biggest issue in this regard. At the start, he had a clear personality, and after he started to grow, he still had a clear direction. The weird thing I notice is the characters are great so long as the focus isn't mainly on them. Once the plot started to revolve around the Todoroki family, Shouto's personality became a plot device. Pushing the redemption arc for Endeavour isn't innately a bad idea, it could be done well, but Shouto is almost being manipulated by the plot to act like however it requires him to, and not consistent with the way his personality and story was previously set up.
My hero academia is a good franchise. It really is and claiming otherwise is simply ignorant. It's very easy to trash something like MHA, but it doesn't deserve it.
However, it definitely does deserve thinking about it from a critical point. Because from a purely logical perspective, there are base issues that to deny would be doing a disservice to every series that works hard to avoid those issues.
