THE BIG EASY RP WEEK 2016 [day four] ↳ plot that you are proud of (yours)

The New Orleans Royals est. 1999

this was actually a year that was pretty easy for me to pick a plot i’m proud of. i’m going to be fucked next year if plot is an option for tbeweek20.  anyway,  i love everything that i do on the big easy but this one holds a special place for me. which may be in part because i’m canadian and this is hockey but god i’m proud of where elle and i started with this and where these hockey hunks (as i label them in every group thread, look at them and tell me i’m wrong) have ended up.  one of the things i love about it is how realistic it feels, new orleans is a football city, its home to my favourite football team after all.  and we could have made the royals something to rival the saints but i think that would have taken some of the magic away from this whole team. the members of the team know this but it does not stop them from playing their hearts out for their city, for the fans they know they have and for themselves. 

boy did they do that this year.  i got to play through the end of their season last year where the team got to the third round of playoffs loosing out before making it to the final round and my poor boy was devastated.  not only did he miss out on a chance for the cup but he’d missed out on going for gold at the olympics, it was a rough year.  this year though they win the cup, with an impressive record coming out of the regular season but its not easy for them.  they only swept one round, the other three have gone to five, six or seven games.  the scores are close, they play hard and they stay true to who they are as a team.

we’ve got an entire first line of players, the forwards, the defence, the man in the net.  we’ve got a captain who parents the team, a player that takes it upon himself to make sure everyone is doing okay like the grandfather he is. we’ve got jokesters, protectors, a golden boy of great character.  and someone that makes them look damn good on social media who is still made to feel like a part of the team.  they are a brotherhood. they all have their own lives, highs and lows, they’re going through different situations with their personal and love lives.  they are a complex group of men, and interesting group.  they have even garnered a little bit of a fanbase and i’m so pleased with that!  i love how they rally around their team mates (shout out to #playwithpride and vince taking a stand, don’t get even get me started on that brilliance because damn!)

i think what i’m also proud of is what goes on behind the scenes that makes this work.  they have a goal song, thunderstruck.  they have an instagram account run by gabriel (haley) who came up with my favourite hashtag ever.  the graphics for the team and score templates are all elle and they’re utterly fantastic.  i created an entire schedule based off the actual nhl schedule fitting in royals games so we know when the team is in new orleans and when they’re somewhere else, when they have free days and when they have game days.  every member of the group accommodates that, works it into their characters and what they’ve got going on, which goes back to giving it that realistic feel i mentioned.

i’ll also forever be grateful the royals gifted me tomas, i love and adore him so much.  he might actually be me if i was a hockey player. i also get to live vicariously through one of my characters being involved with a hockey player which i’m 99.9% sure is the canadian dream ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

TBE Week 2019: Day One →  Introductions

Despite this place having a wealth of members that have been around since the beginning of time, it is very inclusive. Everyone’s open to plotting and pride themselves in being able to form relationships of any degree. The writers are so damn good and have so much love for their characters that development is a definite priority. Also, they love other people’s characters and plots as much as they do their own. I’m proud to be apart of this family and will throw down for them any day.

#TBEWEEK - day 1 - introductions

What do you want non-members to know about TBE: that we’re not only super welcoming, but also really diverse - in the few months i’ve been around, i’ve seen people who are into fluffy plots, people who are into drama, people who reply in 2 hours, people who reply in a week, people who write 800+ word replies, and those who keep it short. in the middle of all that, i find it really hard to feel like an outsider because there’s always someone who’s into what you want to play.

THE BIG EASY RP WEEK 2019 [day five] ↳ plot that impressed you (someone else’s) - Jo & Tom

Something about these two gets me, and I will stalk their threads until I die. Kae and Elle just write their relationship in a way that is so real and so relatable. The two of them aren’t perfect and they had to go through a lot of shit to get to the other side. There’s nothing forced about them; everything that they’ve achieved, they’ve earned. They remind me that the best things in this life are things that you work for, and it’s okay to give yourself room to grow and learn. I am their biggest fan, and it probably helps that Aaron loves them too.

So I was constantly going back and forth here. These two have been my favorite plots for awhile and thinking about having two every day felt overwhelming. Eventually I decided to just say fuck it.

First up is AA with Garrett Hunt, Rayleigh Sterling, Sebastian Harding, and Tobias Brooks. These guys are truly, Grade A dicks. Their dickishness is at varying levels but they are and they own it. Some accept that they’ve done things wrong and try to fix it as soon as they can. Others wait. One is even low key involved in a criminal group. But what makes me love them is that they’re not on some redemption path to be holier men. It’s so rare and refreshing to see this group of straight up shitheads out there trying to navigate life without compromising their base personalities.

Secondly is the love of my life-Gabriel Danvers. When Haley decided to revamp Gabe, my biggest fear was losing him and Callum as friends. I loved him but I think I love him more since this. Haley writes Gabe’s amnesia so well. There is no magic cure or waking up one day with every memory back. He’s navigating his new life, trying to make new memories, and trying to keep the relationships he had before. Having everyone’s reactions around him being so raw on how it impacted them as well always sucks me in.

THE BIG EASY RP WEEK 2019 [day two] ↳ character you’d throw down for → katsumi ross & josephine jayakumar

I word these days specifically because I’m trying to change things up from the typical things that these appreciation weeks ask for and this time I thought it’d be interesting to decide which character you would defend to your dying breath, not necessarily your favourite.

Here’s the thing - I have defended Jo. Over the course of writing her for almost seven years at this point she’s done a shit ton of questionable things and when someone doesn’t understand one of those things I’m ready to fight. Unlike some of my characters, she also needs that protection because she is all too willing to take the blame for things she has not done. She’s accepted less for herself consistently in life and hopefully eventually she’ll start getting the things that she deserves.

I haven’t played Sumi for that long, but he is a reincarnation of one of my oldest boys and because of that they share a lot of the same background. His story, his history, his everything is something that I crafted carefully. People have tried to chip away at it from the beginning of his plot which was why he ended up in the family he’s with in the first place. I staunchly advocate for Sumi to become a D'Entremont because I’m protective of my small bug and that’s where he’s going to thrive the most.

TBE Week 2019: Day Five → Plot that impressed you (someone else)

God this was one of the hardest decisions of the week, because there have been some amazing plots on TBE this year. In the end, I chose Hakim’s Fashion Line because watching Hakim learn who he is when he’s not a Jetson, watching him pursue his art and his love of fashion, and watching how amazingly Haley has written the whole thing makes me weak. I cannot wait to see how else this develops as Hakim gets more people involved in his line.

THE BIG EASY RP WEEK 2019 [day four] ↳ Plot you’re proud of  → hakim’s transition from the music scene to the fashion world

admittedly, this plot is still something that is ongoing and will continue to be ongoing, but when the jetsons decided to go on a hiatus in august. i had to seriously think about hakim’s next steps. shoutout to fee who isn’t here in anymore, but she kind of opened the door to that direction. it was a silly thread where hakim was helping a charrie pick out clothes for her boutique and it transitioned into hakim having his own line just for fun. but a real idea was born from that and i really needed it. the good thing about hakim is that he isn’t hard to write, but when the whole reason you make a charrie no longer exists. it does put you in this position where you have to rethink what you plan on doing with them. 

luckily, i’ve had some great people join me along the way. josephine jayakumar (played by elle) who is hakim’s ride or die and is also his biggest support system. she was the first person hakim confided in about switching gears entirely, and after he was able to tell his best friend then he slowly told more people. shout out to brent jacobsen (played by sarah) who is also one of hakim’s biggest supporters in whatever he does. not to mention, isidora valdez (played by ashley) who works for hakim, and rishi parekh (played by bela) who has uprooted his whole life from the comforts of new york city straight to the big easy. i’m really pumped about the things that will come from this group and how the brand will continue to grow in 2019.

TBE Week 2019: Day Five→  Most Developed Cherished Ship (Yours)

Disclaimer: I was pretty much out for two weeks and I’ve only been here two months. So, instead of a developed ship, I’ve got my most cherished and beloved ship instead.  Clearly, I love Ebony and I’ve been waiting for this moment to let y’all know that I would throw any of you under a bus for her. Ok, let’s continue. 

I made Sammy because of Ebony and I have not regretted it once. Elle is such an amazing writer, lbr. And, yeah, I know background =/= development but let me breathe, okay. These two are so damn adorable. The tol and smol. The female and male. The fire’s keeper. The spiritual duo. 

Sam, a safety helmet wearing klutz, made his first friend in Ebony. They met on the playground during grade 1 shenanigans. And, they’ve been attached at the hip ever since. Through everything (yadda, yadda, witsec, ebony’s struggle with gabe, yadda, yadda) they’ve stood by each other’s side. Now, they live together and Sam has to “deal” with Ebony watering her plants every morning at five. It’s the cutest thing. She’d be humming and sprinkling water on these plants while Sam’s meditating on the balcony.

Oh, speaking of... 

I love that they’re both such spiritual beings. That’s a huge factor for me. Sammy and Ebony are able to connect with each other better than a majority of my ships (romantic and platonic).

#TBEWEEK19 - day 4 - plot that you are proud of (yours)

so... this plot is why i joined the site in the first place. and it feels a little bit like cheating to mention it because i know i was not the one who came up with it, i was not the first person to play it, and i wanted to give room to another plot today, but i just can’t.  reagan and prudy are two hardass bitches who couldn’t care any less about 99% of the people, but they’d die (or kill... literally) for each other. they’ve been there when no one else has, they have been each other’s anchors when it comes to so, so many things. when reagan had miles, prudy was the person who stepped up and raised him with her cousin when every man in her life failed her deeply. now that prudy has children of her own, they can offer support to each other, share their insecurities in a way they don’t really do with other people, and help each other grow. with their personalities, they could’ve easily turned their backs on each other and said “not my problem!”, but they chose each other over and over again, and that’s admirable. reagan is on her way to become a doctor in the next couple years while also being a single mom, and she’s only done that because she had a strong support system to go through this journey with her. that support system is prudy. this is a plot of female empowerment and mutual support with no judgement, and with two characters that look at stereotypes and laugh at its face in many different aspects. they are trash, but i am so proud of where they are and how far they can still go. not as a relationship exactly, but as individuals who are flawed and that struggle with things and don’t have a very conventional sense of right and wrong, but that still keep pushing barriers and developing as human beings in their own twisted ways.

THE BIG EASY RP WEEK 2016 [day four] ↳ plot that you are proud of (yours) - Sisters make the best Enemies

When I made Lia, I wanted her to have this sort of foil during her upbringing. I wanted her to have a reason to behave the way that she does and when I thought about it, something kept bringing me back to a sister. A little ray of light that outshined her darkness. And I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better partner in this than Lys. The way that Lys plays Kitty makes her the perfect counter to Lia, and the fact that we somehow ended up getting Myah and Wolfe involved too is such a delight. I definitely can’t take all the credit for this because Lys has really helped give this plot a direction that I could never have come up with on my own, and because of her we now have a whole gang (literally and figuratively) to play with on TBE. They’re a little painful and a lot of fun. Okay, maybe they’re a lot painful too, but I can’t wait to see how they grow with each other on the site.
