A/N: This is my first time posting anything I've wrote on here! It's just a little drabble that's based on this post I made yesterday after the season finale because I couldn't stop thinking about it!

They still hurt sometimes when he least expected it. The scars, his mind. Sometimes it was worse than others.

Sometimes the itch upon his scarred and sensitive skin, the same one that had carved out a home for itself in his mind, filled his head with thoughts so loud that he was reminded of Kamino. Of the violent waves and crashing thunder that threatened to envelop him with every gust.

But most days, most days it was a quiet and constant thrum in the back of his head. Always there, reminding him. Helping him grow.

He didn't mind, really. He hadn't earned the right to forget. Not yet.

He learned pretty quickly that the Empire rarely bothered with most of the Outer Rim. In fact, anyone of notability rarely did. Moving between the backwater planets dotting the Outer Rim territories gave him time to nurse his wounds, and his ego.

Without the Republic- without the Empire, who was he? His loyalty meant little now.

Who was he if not a solider?

He was shunned and hunted, nothing more than a loose end.

He was alone.

It took him 203 standard days to hear the all too familiar sound of a modified attack shuttle overhead. He would know the approaching sound anywhere.

He had been on Corvus to try and seek some respite. To clear his mind and sort his path ahead. He needed this, he needed to find out who he was and it needed to be on his own terms. Forging his own path came with that, finding a way to live with what he had done, came with that. He had found over time that he could live with it, but he wasn't ready to face it yet.

By the time the shuttle touched base on Corvus, Crosshair was gone.

It took him 106 more standard days to track the Marauder's signal to the Kessell system. 3 more to locate the ship's exact location as it sat, hidden in the depths of a forest on some backwater planet he didn't know the name of.

He trudged through the soft marshlands, alone with his thoughts. He didn't didn't know who he was, but he knew what he wasn't. He wasn't defeated. He had been wrong, and he hated being wrong.

The Empire has no use for him after the attack on Kamino. They saw him simply as a traitor, the one who let Clone Force 99 escape. The one who didn't finish the mission.

They wanted him dead, and so he fled, left with no choice but to face what he had done.

When he finally found the ship, the ramp was open, the shuttle quiet. He was completely alone.

Moving silently through the brush, the pain in his head growing with each step, he boarded the shuttle. It looked just as he had remembered it, and yet somehow, not at all the same.

This wasn't the ship he knew, but he expected that.

After all, who was he if not an outsider now? Forgotten and alone.

The creak of metal drew his attention, and he drew his blaster.

“Put it away, Crosshair.”

He looked up, and faced Hunter with resolve. The others stood behind him, cautious, suspicious. His mind was screaming at him to leave, but he didn't.

Where once he would have worn a scowl, he instead remained impassive. Where once he would have forced his way out, instead he stood his ground.

Silent seconds dragged into minutes. He said nothing, watching as Hunter appraised him, clearly fighting some internal debate. He wished he could speak, form some sort of dignified explanation of why he had boarded their ship without an invitation.

But for once, he couldn't find the words. Not even a snarked comment fought it's way past his lips.

Hunter looked him over, taking in his stature, his wounds. The scars, new and old, decorating his head.

He looked at the battered and bruised shell of the overconfident sniper with a soft sigh.

Neither needed to speak right now, despite everything that desperately needed to be said.

Hunter turned his back for a moment, and when he turned back, Crosshair’s eyes fell to the hand now stretched out before him and his shoulders sagged.

Into his open hands, Hunter pressed his rifle, meeting his eyes.

“This belongs to you.”

Shaking fingers dropped the weapon to the side, held in the limp grasp of one hand. Without warning Crosshair threw his free arm around Hunter’s shoulders.

He hugged him tightly as his mind gradually fell to a quiet buzz once more.

After several seconds, he felt Hunter wind his arm around his shoulders and squeeze just enough.

After all, who was he, if not still their brother?

sooooo my redesign for aayla got me in a mood and so i had to fix ahsoka's outfit. she's precious and i love her, but my baby looks so cold 99% of the time. so anyway, here you go. also i added arm thingies to sort of pay homage to her outfit later in clone wars (which i still have issues with but the arm thingies are cool i guess).
