#Repost @taurastinson (@get_repost) ・・・ Sadly, nothing has changed since this was filmed. I have had a hard time with and have become overwhelmed with the state of this beautiful world. I combed over every lyric of the Star Spangled banner and for the life of me can't understand why one couldn't understand our position. There is an enlightening article on theroot.com (published 7/4/16) that addresses the hidden racist history of the National Anthem. My favorite line the article is that the "Star Spangled Banner is as much a patriotic song as it is a diss track to black people"... 😩 That's why it's important that we know who WE are and STAND and KNEEL beside one another so close and tightly that nothing or no one has a chance of laying us down. ❤️🖤💚 And don't get me started on #45...I plan to not even speak his toxic name anymore. Just sharing my thoughts on this tough week...I had to turn off the news and connect to the source. My prayers and donations are also with heart Puerto Rico, Mexico and every righteous soul in need of healing, justice and the basic necessities that some of us take for granted. Phase One... I am going to spray the paint inside the glass once I scrub it with alcohol. My mentee is from Mexico, but consideringggggg the nonsense of what she’s seeing and hearing in a country where she is hoping to achieve her dreams, I think that she should have this too. I have never encountered a student like her before and I have received so much from her. I am going to gift her with something timeless and I will even ask her mother to include affirmations in Spanish too. I am a firm believer in keeping one’s Native tongue strong. #Wisdom is the true way to be LIT cannot be acquired if we do not read: Ladies, go and cop the book pictured by @taurastinson and understand why I am writing these Five Affirmations. I'm milking my last few pages. This is great for my sisters who have daughters and nieces. I am also going to share this with the nonprofit tonight because our girls need this and NOT the lessons from "reality" television. 1. I know that I can write eloquently, fiercely, and passionately; it's what God placed in me and I had to overcome an extremely painful hurdle to get here. 2. I can dance until the floors crack. Fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis may never be cured. So, I am accepting them as my dance partners instead of my inhibitors. 3. I can cook and bake from my soul to satisfy yours. #freedom Look at her. I told you that I would share my ultimate song of freedom. Perfect day. Driving from Chicago to move back home to Philly. My oldest son is trailing behind me in the moving truck. My friend breaks away from his vacation to periodically check on me to see how I am making out on the road. I question my Lord, “Am I doing the right thing?” This song comes on. It’s about 2 a.m. I’m reminded of the bondage that held me. The hell that trapped me. The abuse and repression. The pain and torment. The terror. In a breath, I felt the hands of many survivors of domestic abuse. The spirit of these women were lined up along the turnpike. Their hands were sticking out for me to tap along the way while they whispered, “You got this! Keep going!” Freedom... They encircle me. They encourage me. I’m rescued to rescue. The journey is not easy, but it was not a mistake. It was for the benefit of this little dancer and the hearts of those that God has entrusted to me. #motivation When God brings you through something, you help another.
