Masterlist
Tamako wakes up in her bed, and for once, she isn’t completely haunted by the thought of Itachi. She feels a little relieved to not have had nightmares about him last night. She wonders if confessing to Yumiko about what happened helped get it off her chest, or maybe she’s really trying to move past all of this.
She makes her way to the bathroom to have a shower and she hears voices from Yumiko’s room. Tamako smirks as she realizes that the other voice belongs to Kakashi. It was so sweet to know that he and her sister had finally come to terms with their feelings a little more than they ever had. Tamako knew things had been a little competitive and they had a rivalry as they were children and growing up wasn’t any easier, but now that they were both adults, maybe they could finally grow to love one another and trust each other.
Tamako turns on the water, allowing it to get to the right temperature. Today, she was planning to do more training and to definitely go see Akina and Ezume. She knows there’s almost no chance that Sasuke will talk to her, but maybe he’ll come along eventually. She misses his company a lot. He’s grown some since she’s been gone and she wants to comfort him like she used to. They were so close.
Tamako washes her hair and thinks about the excitement of the chunin exams in the village. She remembers when she took her chunin exams with Akina and Ezume. It feels like so long ago. Tamako realizes how much she’s changed since those days. She remembers how hurt she was feeling when she fought against her opponent. How she barely paid any attention to Akina and Ezume. She starts to feel really guilty about how she’s treated those two in the past.
I have to make it right with them. I want them to know how much they mean to me.
After her shower, Tamako gets dressed and heads to the kitchen to get started on tea and some breakfast. Kakashi and Yumiko are sitting at the kitchen table, and Tamako can see the blush on both of their faces. Tamako doesn’t ask any questions, instead she just starts on her own breakfast.
“So, Kakashi...do you think your team has what it takes to become chunin?” Tamako asks, trying to break the ice.
“I guess we’ll see. I think this is a good opportunity for all of them,” Kakashi answers and Yumiko raises an eyebrow at him.
“How is Sasuke? I wanted to talk to him again, but it seems like he’s written me off for good now.” Tamako questions as she sits down across from Yumiko.
“He’s doing well, Tamako. He will come around eventually,” Kakashi tells her, and Tamako feels her heart flutter slightly.
“Everyone’s been telling me that, but I’m worried I’ve completely ruined the bond and trust between us. Please just make sure he is okay. I would hate for anything bad to happen to him.” Tamako looks down at her tea and Yumiko pipes up.
“You should probably go talk to Ezume and Akina. They’ve been asking about you lately,” Yumiko tells her.
“I was planning on doing that today, Yumi. I need to make amends with them.” Tamako explains, and Yumiko smiles.
“You aren’t guilty of anything, Tamako. You are still a good person,” Yumiko comforts. Tamako offers a sweet smile, but yet she does know she needs to talk to her teammates.
And this is where she finds herself, at the training grounds working on some new techniques. Ezume and Akina walk over to Tamako, hand in hand. Tamako watches them carefully and her heart swells with happiness as she realizes that her teammates have finally found love within each other.
“Tamako!” Akina yells out, running over to her. The two women jump into each other’s arms, which causes them to fall to the ground. Akina is laughing while Tamako just chuckles.
“You two are completely hopeless,” Ezume scolds but he rushes over to them. He watches as Akina helps Tamako up and they all meet in a hug.
“I’ve missed you both so much. I’ve been such a jerk,” Tamako says as she allows tears to well up in her eyes.
“Don’t cry, Tamako. We don’t hate you.” Akina assures, but Tamako shakes her head.
“I’ve treated you both so poorly for so long, and I never realized how much you both truly mean to me. We are such a great team and I feel like I’ve always taken that for granted.” Tamako explains, and this time Ezume interjects.
“Tamako,” he says as he places his hand on her shoulder. “You are a good person. You don’t need to atone for anything. We love you,” He blushes as he confesses this and Akina leans up against him.
Tamako smiles, “So when did this happen? I always thought you two were perfect for each other.” She claps her hands together excitedly.
“I just asked him out one day while we were looking for you, and it just blossomed from there.” Akina says and Ezume groans as he realizes how awkward this is.
The trio decides to go over to the ramen shop to eat together and reminisce a little about the past. Tamako feels good about talking to her teammates. It was almost like they could all move past this little hump in the road and continue on. It was helping heal her heartbreak as well.
On their walk back to the hideout, Itachi remains silent while Kisame struggles to find the right words to comfort his teammate. He never really knew what he was getting himself into when Itachi decided to go after Tamako, but he decided that the less he knew the better it could go.
“Hey, are you sure you’re okay?” Kisame finally asks, but he’s immediately regretting it.
“Of course, Kisame. We need to focus on the task at hand. The Akatsuki is what’s important now.”
Silence befalls the two of them as they continue walking, not realizing that a pair of eyes watches them silently from the bushes. Itachi is hurting so badly inside, but he knows this was the best course of action for Tamako. He wanted her to return to the village so that she could live a normal life, and for her to be able to watch over Sasuke.
Itachi knew he’d never be able to give Tamako what she needs in life. She needs a stable life as a jounin with a reliable husband who can give her all the love. It’s just killing him inside to know he’s never going to be able to be that person for her. He’s had a taste of her now, and he just wants more. He’s become addicted to that smell. The lotus perfume. He hates how he can smell it everywhere now. It’s just been so ingrained in his mind that he could never forget such a wonderful smell.
“That girl...she’s the one you’re in love with, isn’t she?” Kisame asks again, and this time he’s going to pry a little. He needs to know how Itachi is feeling. Sure, they didn’t always get along but Kisame does like Itachi. He cares.
“It’s fine, Kisame. You don’t need to talk to me about this. We should just get back.” Itachi doesn’t want to keep talking about Tamako. He wants to get back to the hideout and drown his sorrows.
“I know it’s not fine, but…” Kisame decides to not press his luck. He knows that Itachi is hurting already, but he doesn’t want to make it worse.
At the hideout, Zetsu is already there with lots of information for Madara. Madara is delighted to hear about what happened in the forest. He doesn’t need Itachi to be distracted by more troubles in his life.
“I think she’s out of the picture now,” White Zetsu explains to Madara.
“She was only holding him back. He needs to break away from this,” The black part says.
“You’re correct. We have better things to think about now,” Madara says. Still, he wonders if recruiting that girl could be a good idea. It would keep Itachi distracted, but her kekkei genkai could be very useful.
“He’s very hurt,” White Zetsu says with concern in his voice.
“There’s no need for him to be. He did what was right for the group.”
Madara hums in response as he thinks about what should happen next. He decides that maybe everything should just stay the same. Itachi let go of his love, and soon he’ll be back with Kisame in tow. Neither of them have to talk about what’s happened, and Madara decides it’s probably best to just stay quiet about the situation.
“I’d like for you to go watch the girl a little more. I might have plans for her in the long run, but I need to know more about this volatile kekkei genkai before I make any more decisions.” Madara explains.
“Certainly,” Zetsu says, leaving the room.
Madara realizes that he could set this up to benefit himself in the end. If this volatile kekkei genkai is worth it, he could keep this girl as a ploy against Konoha and the rest of the ninja world. And, it could keep Itachi from misbehaving if that were to happen. It’s just all working out for him, and Madara couldn’t be any happier.
As the days go by, Tamako spends lots of time with Yumiko as the Chunin exams continue on. It’s exciting to both of them to see the other villages coming to take their exams here. Tamako has been mingling a little and socializing to help heal the wound of her broken heart. It’s odd to be home, but she finds something very comforting about it regardless.
She’s in the training grounds today, working on kekkei genkai. It’s always been volatile, and with her father deceased, she’ll never really know the true secrets of it. Tamako knows her grandparents still reside in Konoha, but neither of them would even dare to talk to her, much less so about the kekkei genkai they so hastily stopped using years ago.
Iruka is watching her from afar and he’s been helping her with a few things during her training. They both are evenly matched now, but Iruka still has some good advice. Tamako has been very grateful that he's been here for her.
“Wind style: Hurricane Jutsu!” Tamako shouts as she finishes weaving her signs. The wind picks up in front of her and cycles in the air, becoming heavy and humid.
Iruka watches in amazement as Tamako finally has the perfect hold on this jutsu. She directs the wind towards the trees and watches happily as it causes the trees to whip around. Tamako senses a power in her growing, but she chalks it up to the adrenaline and the kekkei genkai.
“Yeah! Tamako!” Iruka cheers as he runs over to her. He sees her turn around to face him, but her cloak has not dissipated.
“Iruka!” She yells excitedly and runs over to him, but he lowers his arms. He was going to give her a hug, but now he thinks something might be wrong.
“Tamako, are you okay?” Iruka asks as they are finally within feet of each other.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I be? I just mastered that jutsu!” Tamako pumps her fist in the air, but Iruka is now concerned.
“Your cloak is still surrounding you. You look different.” Iruka states as he watches Tamako. Her eyes are glowing as the cloak gets more powerful.
The air is thick with static and Iruka watches as his and Tamako’s hair starts to stand on end. There’s electricity flowing through her fingers as she’s watching what’s happening to her. Then, she’s suddenly collapsing on the ground and crying out.
“AGH!” Tamako whines as she holds her sides. She’s letting out little bits of electricity with every movement.
“Are you okay?!” Iruka asks, wanting to help her up but he knows it’s a bad idea.
Tamako looks up at him and he can no longer see her pupils. Her eyes are glowing gold, and her skin has a yellow tint to it. The cloak has completely overtaken her as she whines.
“I don’t know,” She says. “Something is wrong. I need you to get Yumi if you can,”
Iruka frowns as he realizes it won’t be easy to get her. He needs to get Tamako to a hospital, but he doesn’t want to get shocked. Yet, he’ll feel very guilty if he just leaves her here to get help.
“Come on, Tamako. I’m taking you to the hospital.” Iruka offers his hand to her, and she takes it. Immediately, he can feel the heavy electricity coming from her.
It hurts him where he’s holding her hand, but he helps her to her feet. Tamako sways as she stands up, but she’s steadied by Iruka. She continuously shocks him as she leans into him, but he doesn’t care right now.
“I’m gonna take you to the hospital, everything is going to be alright.” Iruka says as they begin walking towards that direction.
“We need Yumi! She’s the only one who knows how to control this!” Tamako argues, but Iruka doesn’t listen to her right now. Yumiko is too preoccupied with the Chunin exams to even be able to help right now.
They slowly walk over to the hospital, and Iruka has to stop every so often to let go of Tamako. Her condition hasn’t changed at all, and lots of people are staring at them now. A few people offer to help, but Iruka says he’s fine. He won’t let others get shocked like he is.
Finally, they make it to the hospital and the staff rush into action. They notice how weak Iruka is and how Tamako is a danger to others right now.
“She needs help! Her chakra is slowly draining!” Iruka explains, but they don’t know how to proceed.
One of the doctors places Tamako on a stretcher and he tries to figure out how to get the cloak to dissipate. He’s wearing rubber gloves which prevents him from being shocked.
“Nobody knows how to calm this down,” the doctor admits. “We’ve seen this in many people from the Shōrihibana clan experience this before long ago, but nobody has been able to calm it.”
“What do you mean!? Is she just going to die?!” Iruka is beyond furious with the doctor right now.
The doctor frowns at Iruka, “Well, I don’t want to say anything too hastily...but,” He stops for a moment. “Not everyone has survived this. We’ve lost members of the clan to this.”
Iruka feels speechless. He’s unsure how to respond to that. He feels responsible for Tamako right now, and if she dies it’s going to be horrible. He doesn’t want her to die. He wants the doctor to do his job and help her.
“What the hell?! Can’t you do anything for her?!” Iruka asks, clearly angry.
The doctor sighs, “Look, the best we can do for her is allow her to rest. We’ll do all we can, but we can’t promise anything. I can try to keep her chakra flow down, but she may be overwhelmed right now. She needs to relax before I can even try to do anything.” The doctor turns towards the nurses and lets them bring Tamako to a room.
Iruka feels helpless as he watches them wheel her away. Tamako is groaning and whimpering in pain as the cloak doesn’t let up. He’s never seen either her or Yumiko in this state ever.
“She has a sister,” Iruka tells the doctor. “She might know how to help. She’s the only person who’s ever really been closer to mastering this kekkei genkai other than their father.”
“Nakachi’s daughters…” The doctor mutters to himself.
Just then someone else comes in and he springs into action. Iruka groans in frustration as he realizes there’s almost nothing he can do. He wants to get Yumiko, but he knows she’s busy. He decides to get her anyway. This could be very serious and maybe Yumi has a few answers that the doctors don’t.
He can feel his body aching from where Tamako was leaning up against him for support. There’s a few burn marks on his clothes and hands from the sheer amount of static shock she was letting out. He’s never seen anything so powerful like that before. Especially not from a single person. She was completely different. She looked different...she even felt different.
Iruka finds Yumiko walking back from the edge of the village where the Chunin exam was taking place. She’s talking with another proctor who is also taking a small break.
“Iruka!” She calls out to him, and he races towards her.
“There’s something serious that’s happened, Yumi.” Iruka is almost out of breath from everything that’s happened.
Yumiko’s smile falters. She worries about Tamako immediately, just thinking the worst. She wonders if Tamako has run off again and she hopes that it’s something else that’s happened.
“Tamako needs your help. She’s in the hospital. She was training, and then her cloak wouldn’t let up and…” Iruka is talking so fast, Yumiko can barely keep up with what he’s saying.
“What’s going on?” Yumiko is trying to make some sense out of it.
“Something serious happened with Tamako. She’s in the hospital, but the doctor doesn’t know how to help. It’s about the kekkei genkai,” Iruka explains a little slowly.
Yumiko can feel her blood run cold. She’s not sure what’s happened, but she just knows her baby sister is in the hospital and she needs to get there now. Yumiko takes off running without looking back. Her heart pounds as she feels tears well up in her eyes.
Please be okay, Tamako. I’m almost there. Just hang on a little longer.

Christian life | The Best Way to Stop the Children’s Quarrel – Christian Experience
By Xia Tian
Through the windows and blinds the silvery moonlight filtered into the bedroom. Xiadong opened her dry and sleepy eyes a little. She took a look at her thirteen-year-old son and ten-year-old daughter. It was time for her to call the children to get up to pass water.
“Xuanxuan, Huihui, it’s time to wake up and go pee.” She whispered the pet names of her children. Her daughter didn’t respond and appeared to be sleeping soundly. The son said yes sleepily, and rose up slowly from the quilt. Suddenly, the daughter jumped out of bed and dashed into the bathroom, and slammed the door. Seeing that, the son immediately got wound up and hastened to the bathroom. But he was late, so he could only wait outside anxiously. In a few minutes, the daughter returned and sat on the bed, and then the son came back too.
“Mom called me first, why did you shoot ahead of me? You’re so annoying! You always get ahead of me. What a nuisance you are!” The son roared at the daughter with glaring eyes.
The daughter retorted, “I am a what? Why can’t I go first? You are slow, it’s your own fault.” She felt wronged and burst into tears as she said this. Her cries and their noise of quarrel sounded harsh in the still night. Bothered by their noise, Xiadong lost her desire to sleep. She was annoyed, but she still tried to lull them, “It’s just fine. It doesn’t matter who goes first. Don’t be naughty. Try and sleep right away. You have to go to school tomorrow.” However, neither of them was willing to put themselves aside and they still quarreled and even kicked each other under the quilt. This senseless quarrel made Xiadong grow more annoyed. She thought: It’s now useless to lull them. So she snapped, “It’s already midnight! What are you two doing? Isn’t it annoying? It’s only such a little thing you two argue for. Can’t you be generous with each other? If you continue, both of you get out!” But this rebuke made the two children feel more wronged; they cried even more bitterly and kept grumbling at each other. Listening to their noise of quarrel, Xiadong could only lean against the nightstand and wrinkle her brows. She didn’t know how to stop them. She sat still for a few minutes, and suddenly, she thought of God. She hurried to pray within, “God! My two children are bickering because of a trifle. I have tried to lull them and even scolded them, but to no avail. I really don’t know what to do. Please guide me.” After prayer, a passage of God’s words arose in her mind, “Of everything that occurs in the universe, there is nothing that I do not have the final say in. What exists that is not in My hands? All that I say goes, and among men, who is there who can change My mind?”, “… but know I am Almighty God ruling all things in the universe! For Me there are no problems that cannot be resolved, much less is there anything that cannot be accomplished and any word that cannot be said”. Xiadong saw hope in God’s words. God is almighty. He is the Master of the universe and nothing is difficult for Him. Are my kids not also in God’s hands? Xiadong understood God’s will and knew that she should rely on God rather than her own ability to solve this problem. The situation only got worse when she tried to deal with their quarrel by herself, and from this she realized her arrogance and ignorance. She was willing to commit her children to God and asked for His help to solve this problem, and let His word reign and take control. Then Xiadong had faith in God and knew the way of practice.
She quickly picked up the MP5 player by the pillow, searched for Sermons and Fellowship on Entry Into Life, and read a passage of words to the children, “Tell me, if a person has no truth, will he suffer? He’s really suffering. He can’t get along with anyone for long, and is constantly in conflict with everyone around him. That’s an annoying thing. After he fell out or argued with someone, how did he feel when he came back home and lay in the bed? Upset, right? And he kept thinking, ‘Why are these guys so bad? Why can’t there be one more good person? If there are more good people like me, we can get along well with each other, isn’t it?’ You see, those without the truth always think they are good and think others bad. They are always finding fault with others. This kind of people are tired, right? … Then if you have truth, and when you associate with others, you can treat him properly regardless of what shortcomings he has, you can tolerate him, have patience with him, and you have love for him; problem solved, right? … Truth can truly change people. One without the truth is in enmity with everyone, and have hatred for anyone. After one has truth he can just tell/recognize who are true brothers and sisters, and he can have love for them and live in harmony with them. If brothers and sisters make a transgression, he can endure and tolerate them, and in his heart he feels gratified, happy, and at peace. When you are possessed of more humanity, and when you are better able to live by truth before God, you will feel enriched, peaceful, and joyful. … When truth takes charge of man’s life, he will feel happy, bright, released, and free.” Gradually, the two children calmed down. They listened attentively in the bed. Xiadong smiled and said gently, “You see, how good these words are. We are fooled and harmed by Satan just because we have no truth. We have been so corrupted by Satan that we all become selfish and self-interested, and have no patience or love for others; no matter what we do, we always put ourselves first, and pursue the principle of how to take advantage of something and not be taken advantage of. You two got annoyed and lost your temper simply because the other got ahead of you. And you thought you suffered loss so you two quarreled and even kicked each other. Is that the likeness of man? We don’t have patience and tolerance when treating our families, then how can we treat others with patience and tolerance? Is that right?”
Because Xiadong often fellowshiped about God’s words with them before, this time they understood her words easily. They poked their heads from under the quilt and nodded slightly. Seeing that they accepted her words, Xiadong was excited and offered her thanks and praises to God in her heart. She moderated her tones and said mildly, “We have no truth, and we do not know ourselves when things happen, but always find fault with others, thinking it’s all their fault. That’s why we felt wronged and painful. All these are the torments of Satan. Satan corrupted us so that we have become selfish, self-interested, and we contend against each other, and thereby people can’t get along with each other. Satan is too malicious. But God loves us, He requires that we live out normal humanity and have love for others, and that in treating others we should forbear with others and care for them. In everything we do we should make others benefit and think more about others, and should not think only of ourselves but sympathize with others’ weakness and forgive their offenses. Only in this way can we build a normal relationship with others and thus live in harmony. So we should read more of God’s word and let His word rule in our hearts, and only then can we see through Satan’s trickery and no longer be fooled by it. My boy, you’re the brother. If your sister does something wrong, you should tolerate her and help her. You shouldn’t seize on her mistake, or you will fall into Satan’s trap.” The son felt guilty and said, “Mom, I’m wrong.” Then Xiadong said to the daughter, “You’re wrong too. You should accept what your brother said, and shouldn’t hold a grudge against him. God likes those children who readily accept the truth. You should accept the mistake your brother pointed out and correct it. Don’t struggle or contend next time, but be modest and accommodating toward each other. And don’t only think of yourself. Then Satan will be shamed and dare not play tricks on you. In this way you won’t feel wronged.” The daughter felt self-blame and said, “Sorry! It is I who am to blame. I shouldn’t get ahead of my brother and I’ll correct it next time.” The two children both apologized and admitted their mistakes. After Xiadong saw this, her heart was full of gratitude to God. She practically tasted God’s almightiness and loveliness, and couldn’t help sighing with emotion: Without God’s guidance I would be helpless when facing this matter. Before the facts, she felt she was so small and incompetent, and saw God’s greatness. It was God who was her rear guard and helped her stop the rumpus, so that she could have peace. Looking at her two children who had fallen asleep, she deeply tasted that God was her only reliance.
Night became quiet again. As the children were sleeping sweetly, the moonlight was becoming more silvery. The bedroom seemed placid in the silvery light. The alarm clock was ticking in rhythm, and its hands pointed to 2:30 a.m. At this moment, Xiadong was not weary. She lay in the bed and recalled the scene just now. Without God’s guidance, how could they three have such a peace? This time she tasted God’s love and felt the authority and power of God’s words. She thought back to the past. When she had difficulties in work so many times, it was God who helped her out and gave her faith. When she met family disputes or children’s bickering, it was God who led her to solve them with the truth. God’s word saw her through every difficulty so that she was able to avoid many Satan’s afflictions and temptations. She deeply realized that only God is able to settle the disputes and stop the quarrels among people. Only God has the ability to solve all the problems in our lives because He is possessed of this kind of authority and power. Just as God’s words say, “but know I am Almighty God ruling all things in the universe! For Me there are no problems that cannot be resolved, much less is there anything that cannot be accomplished and any word that cannot be said”.
