Harry shuffles into the bathroom and cleans himself off, overwhelmed with deja vu when he looks at himself in the mirror. He narrows his eyes at his reflection, checking for inconsistencies.

Pinching himself in the side only generates a yelp he’s immensely grateful nobody is there to hear, and verifies that he is, in fact, awake.

Which means last night’s incident probably wasn’t a dream either.

The little curve turns into a proper smile. “Chocolate chip is basic. I like cinnamon.”

“Duly noted, you git,” Harry says, quiet and private. He files the information away, puts it in a little drawer labelled Draco, next to the list of his favourite tea brands, amongst scattered notes on the biscuits he likes, things he needs but won’t admit out loud, and things he thinks about himself but aren’t true. Some of those things are too big and important to fit in drawers so Harry learns those and commits them to memory, remembers Draco won’t always wear them like a heart on a sleeve, raw and alive; those things are rare and fleeting like a dream—Harry sometimes wakes up and can’t remember if they’re actually true.

But that’s all right, Draco’s always there to tell him.

“Potter.”

“Yeah?”

“Why did you need me here?” The question hangs in the air and Harry isn’t sure anymore, only knows that Draco made this disappointing night better by just showing up. It feels too big to say for some reason, like Draco would maybe laugh at him or ask him to elaborate and Harry has no answer to that, not yet.

“I needed help with the baby,” he says unconvincingly.

Draco huffs. “Please. We both know you’re fantastic with children and we’ve pretty much established my idea of something as simple as infant nutrition is vague at best.”

“I just wanted company?” He tries, annoyed at the telling warmth at the tips of his ears. It’s not like it should be something embarrassing.

“That’s better,” Draco says softly, a questioning note ringing at the end of the sentence.

This Fic is everything! It is absolutely amazing and has some spot on characterization of both Harry and Draco. I adore fics that feature bets and wagers, and what better than taking bets on Harry’s dating and love life in order to make him see what is right in front of him? This also is one of the best oblivious!Harry I have ever read, and the Smut and UST is out of this world. Draco is absolutely amazing in this one as well, and he definitely shines. It also features a tattooed Harry Potter (with illustrations ❤️)so basically what more can you ask for!!!!!!

Wizards Hearts Recs: Healer!Draco

Wizards Hearts was a four-month-long Drarry reading fest. Players were given a playing deck of 52 tropes, and were asked to find 52 different fics to read and comment on to fill their decks. Excerpt: Harry always wakes first, which is important because it allows him enough time to look around Ron's room, to take in the horrible orange sheets and the Quidditch posters. Sometimes, if he's woken very early, he'll get up and stretch, watch the way the sun crawls across Ron's face, lighting up the freckles on his face. He tries not to laugh as Ron scrunches his face against the light and tries to crawl further into his bedsheets.

Sometimes, he'll pull the blinds open wider just to see Ron murmur in his sleep. He'll wait just long enough for Ron to come half-awake and then leave to shower. Always, when he comes back, Ron's already sitting up, eyes half-closed, his hair a mess.

"Good morning, Harry," he'll say. "Do your best friend a favour and close the bloody blinds."

Always, no matter what, Harry will pull the blinds closed and pretend his heart doesn't feel close to bursting at Ron's words.

He's never been anyone's best friend before Ron.

Excerpt: It’s on Harry’s third visit to Espresso Patronum, just as he’s managed to snag himself a seat by the window and a free apple from a blushing Susan Bones from behind the counter, that he meets Draco Malfoy once again.

Review: 

This fic was absolutely wonderful. I read it while drinking my morning cup of coffee, and it felt like I was right there in the shop. I felt like I was sitting at a little square table, sipping my drink, while out of the corner of my eye I watched Harry and Draco fall helplessly in love with each other. It was such a heart-warming experience, and I highly recommend grabbing your favourite warm beverage—whether it be warm milk, tea, coffee, or a pumpkin spice latte—and letting yourself curl up with this delicious fanfic. 

Tasteofshape’s writing was a sight to behold. They flow effortlessly through the story, bringing us into the coffee shop for the first time, making us feel the same wonder that Harry does at seeing Draco Malfoy of all people running it. The pacing was amazing, and the way they have Draco and Harry’s relationship build (just like a barista making your favourite drink 😉) had me grinning and internally screaming. It was just so cute, and I love the oblivious and yearning Harry. Their description of sensory experiences and the taste of coffee was wonderful and had me craving every one of Draco’s specialty drinks.

But what really had me pulled into this fic was the author’s creativity and ingenuity. I knew going in that their original characters are usually some of the highlights of  their fics (if you haven’t read The Lion, The Dragon, and the Broom Cupboard, then you haven’t met Jin Cheng Wu, and you haven’t really lived). Still, the various Slytherin baristas in this were so cute, each one was so distinct, but were all described so succinctly, that they blended perfectly into Draco and Harry’s story. I won’t go into too much detail about these OC’s, because I don’t want to spoil it for you, but there’s some amazing paintings in this who added the humour to that fluff and humour tag, and who you really DON’T want to miss. There was also a lot of creativity in terms of magical coffee, and I won’t say more than that. 

 Honestly, I could rave about this fic forever, everything that I look for in a fluff fic was here: creative and thrilling original content, beautifully built yearning, a wonderful resolution, beautiful wording, great characterization, and that little spark of something that makes you feel warm from tip to toe.

All in all, this fic for me is like wrapping my Slytherin scarf tighter around my neck on a fall day, and taking that first, blissful sip of my Chai Latte.

Wizards Hearts Recs: Soulmates

Wizards Hearts was a four-month-long Drarry reading fest. Players were given a playing deck of 52 tropes, and were asked to find 52 different fics to read and comment on to fill their decks.
