Wrote a scene for PPAU in which Megatron convinces the DJD to accept a peace treaty with the Autobots (that doesn't constitute rebuilding and then stabbing them in the back). And when I was outlining/brainstorming I was like, "okay Megatron is probably going to have to make an example of some DJD member who lashes out and refuses to accept it. There's gonna be a little fucked up cult violence in here"

Except no, that smooth son of a bitch gave the DJD a speech that so effortlessly tied them up in his new peacetime plans that the most opposition he got was a muttered comment by one single member. My man used the brainwashing of nationalism and patriotism to counteract the cult brainwashing. He made a rhetorical appeal so sound that any member of the DJD who tried to argue against the peace treaty would sound like they were opposed to reclaiming Cybertron, their homeland, and ensuring the well-being of their own loyal soldiers. I was like "MEGATRON THERE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MORE CONFLICT IN THIS SCENE YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO CHOKE-LIFT A BITCH OR AT LEAST RIP OFF TARN'S MASK AS A DRAMATIC GESTURE OR SOMETHING" and the Megatron in my brain went "hahaha no" and charmed the DJD so thoroughly that there wasn't even a single raised voice. Design for bruticus maximus

The supreme commander of cybertron's military, the ancient combaticons who becoms the foundation for the modern day decepticons. Without solus' conection to the forge to provide for them, liege maximo and galvatron turned to a more... heavy-handed provider of weapons for the revolution, who would become the first decepticon emperor of destruction

With the power of the star saber on their side, the revolutionaries returned to cybertron and began taking out functionist leadership, but while they were united in their task by their experiences on the disaster planet, the rift between prima's and megatron's loyalists began to widen and secretly liege maximo contacted an old friend of his. Combaticon commander Bruticus Maximus

Bruticus was the longest acting commander of the combaticons, a fighting force that, on the surface, was completely loyal to the acting government, but secretly, Bruticus Maximus had a yearning for power.

Cybertron wasn't always one nation. For the world government the planet was known for, to be created, one nation had to overpower the others, and that nation began where tarn now stands, a native of tarn bruticus maximus began his military carrer in that early era where the rulers of tarn sought to unite the planet under their rule with their army, the combaticons.

the combaticons were allowed to momentarily rule over conquered territories until the proper authorities arrived, and Bruticus discovered he actually quite liked administrative work, but as they moved on from city to city, eventually there was nowhere left to conquer. The job of the military became to crush insurgency, which deprived bruticus of the rullership he so enjoyed, so when rumors of a revolution began to spread, bruticus actually turned a blind eye to it,

But he wasn't the only general around, and the revolutionaries were eventually chased off the planet, but when they returned, liege maximo contacted bruticus to offer him command over their new world in exchange for soldiers and guns. Bruticus jumped at the opportunity, and secretly, his combaticons grew right under prima's inexistent nose into the decepticons, ready to establish a military dictatorship the moment the captial of the world. Throwback Thursday: The Father of Glaciology

This is Louis Agassiz. He was a Swiss biologist and geologist in the 19th century. His biggest claim to fame was that he was the first to propose a global ice age.

In 1837, he presented the idea that the glaciers in the Alps had once been larger and had covered not only the mountains, but the plains of Europe, Asia and North America as well. Along with William Buckland, he searched the British Isles for evidence and came back pretty satisfied.

What kinds of evidence are there that glaciers once covered the northern hemisphere? They left huge marks on the surface of the earth.

Moraines: huge piles of loose rock and debris pushed ahead and off the sides of a glacier. Above is a lateral moraine in eastern Oregon.

Horn: a pyramidal peak created by glaciers on all sides. The top photo is in Big Cottonwood Canyon in the Wasatch Range. The bottom is on the Beartooth Highway in Wyoming.

Cirque: a bowl-shaped depression where mountain glaciers start their life. This is a shallow one on the Wasatch Front near Draper.

U-shaped Valley: pretty self-explanatory. This is Blackmore Valley in the Gallatin Range of Montana.

Arete: a sharp ridge created by ice passing on both sides. Absaroka Range, MT

Tarn Lake: water that fills a cirque. Absaroka Range, Wyoming.

Kettle Ponds: ponds left behind from melting glaciers. Top photo: Wyoming Mountains from a plane. Bottom: Beartooth Range

Proglacial Lake: a lake caused by damming of a moraine or ice sheet. This is Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park.

Drumlin: a large hill of sediment deposited by the bottom of a glacier.

Striations: gouges left in rock by a passing glacier

And so much more. Once you start to see the remnants of glaciers, you'll never stop seeing them. Just like Agassiz.
