CLAPS HANDS TOGETHER…….. as a goddess, does mael have any patrons? any temples dedicated to him? does anyone pray to him? how would he react if someone were to do just that?? ( an ages ago ask! )
ok! so, mael is represented by the sun if we translate things like that. his older brother, ludociel, says that humans worshipped the goddesses ( and that it went to their heads ), but in the end, goddesses are more like angels than they are Actual Deities. because the deities of the world ( the demon king, the supreme deity ) are capable of absolutely nuking even the strongest members of their respective groups ( meliodas and elizabeth ). it is by the will of the supreme deity that “the four archangels” even HAVE all the power they display, as she bestowed them with “grace”. mael, the sun, is strongest at noon, as his grace amplifies his power respective to the time of day ( meaning he’s most vulnerable at midnight ). ludociel’s grace is called “flash” and it seems like super-speed and i’m sure it does other things but do i really know ... no. sariel is “tornado”, capable of commanding the winds. tarmiel is “ocean”, which is exactly what's on the label, but they’ve got this Bass Boosted shit because of the will of a REAL GODDESS. this makes the supreme deity mael's own patron, because she's the patron of the entire goddess race.
despite not being real gods, even other members of the goddess clan have worshipped mael. as the strongest of the archangels, the goddess warriors pray to him when they go into battle ( and ask him for salvation when they die ) and that’s supremely fucked up, because fucking hell, he reveled in that. and worse it was uhh, well, when he was a kid, he didn’t know how to fight and he didn’t have that power and he was looked down on but now that he has power and worship, things got messy as heck. because he liked that. he liked having people grovel and worship the spaces he was in even if he was only there for a moment and it's all this super mega maladaptive response to being picked on as a kid? mael get therapy challenge...
there are definitely temples that were dedicated to the four archangels, although they’re in ruins now, and people don’t pray to goddesses anymore. while mael misses that, he also knows deep down that it was so BAD for him and he’d be really thrown off if someone did that to him in the present like holy shit? he's not an idiot, he knows it was bad and it made his mental state worse in a manic sort of way, and he doesn't want that
tldr mael sure was worshipped once he got power and he let that get to his head and no one stopped him from behaving badly and so essentially it was like he was being praised for actually being a literal fuckign monster, and that’s wrong.

Children Headcanons
um only Ludociel and Mael. Last fanfic for the year. But till next time butterfly’s.
()()()()()()()
Ludociel-
He loves his kids. You both have two, one daughter who have your hair and his white eyes (Dose keep her eyes close or covered). Your son is the youngest with his long black hair and your eyes.
When they were younger he would always hold them and it would remind him of when Mael was a baby. Does tell his kids to look after each other, he wants his kids to have a relationship like him and Mael.
Does tell his children about the holy war.
He would train his kids in fighting but if one or both don’t want to he would be fine with it.
I always think that your guys' kids would have long hair. So you all know how to do hair. He does the kids' hair sense he did help you, Norabasta, and Mael.
Would be the one to cook not like your cooking is bad he just wants you all to nutrients. But you will make dinner, lunch, and breakfast at times and when the kids were old enough they would soon cook. But when it comes to desserts you would all help in, it's mostly a family thing.
Arguments are a thing in this family. It would mostly be about stress, being kids to an archangel isn't an essay thing. So there would be times when your kids would argue or even fight about who's better or who can live to their fathers expectations. You ofcourse would stop it before it got out of control and would calm down the both of them. You would try telling Ludociel about this but he would just turn away, you never understood why but you knew he cared.
When it comes to playdates he would let your kids play with Sariel, Tarmiel, and mostly Mael’s kids because he can trust them. When it came down to Tristan, he would never know his parents; he doesn't want the same bad things happening to them. But you soon convince him and he was happy to learn they had fun.
Overall he loves them,
Mael-
To be honest we were the last to have kids cause he wanted to know you better before inviting a little one into your lives.
But did always wonder what his kids would be like.
You do have a son with his white hair and your eyes, your daughter has your H/n and maels ocean eyes.
He is the one who held them alot when they were babies. When they would cry he would cry with them too making you have to calm them all down.
Cooking wize you both took turns, he loves you cooking by the way.
Like his brother's kids they have long hair but Mael knew how to handle them.
He doesn't tell his kids about the holy war in the fear they would look at him differently and so he wants them to stay innocent for as long as possible.
Arguments do happen between the kids. Your son always wants to surpass Mael but most say he is weak. So when he pushes himself too hard Mael does step in and the argument goes on from there. Your daughter does argue too but only cause she feels pressure cause she is your daughter.
Playdates with the archangels kids are a must. With Tristan he doesn't mind. And it's funny how S/n and Tristan get along way better than all of you when you all first met. There is a joke that you and Meliodas said which would break the other's heart first or how is going to need a lot of help from the other.
But over all he just wants them to have a better life then him.

A Look Back in Nakaba POV - #3 Sun May Rest but Shall Rise Again
No more procrastination, I’m gonna finish the promised piece this time!
(I cannot come up with a better title this time so I “steal” the caption once I used for my fanart lol)
Really long time ago I posted this because this is a thing back in the day when people are trying to guess the true identity of Estarossa, and unlike Nakaba thought, there is some people notice this and use this as a critical clue to conclude that Mael=Estarossa theory (or I’d call it a theorem since this is the truth now lol), and I’m glad to see Nakaba give more details in his interview book about how he came up with THE CONSPIRACY:
Translation:
- Did you decide from the very beginning that Estarossa is actually Mael?
Nakaba: No, at first, I only thought Mael as the Ludociel’s younger brother who had been passed away, but it then start to be worth wondering that if Mael is the strongest among Four Archangle, why the strongest one died in the first place?
So after this when I started to come up the setting of The Grace, I thought Ludociel would be “Light”, Sariel would be “Sea”, and Tarmiel would be “Wind”*… Then when I came to the part that the strongest one should be “Sun”, I was like “Huh? Does that overlap with Escanor’s Sunshine?” If I took one more step further from here this would be totally make sense to me. So in this case, the reason behind Escanor’s unusual predominant power should be The Grace owned by Four Archangle, and it’s reasonable that it’s much stronger than a usual magic.
Then there also should be a scenario that Mael without The grace. In the end, I was pretty satisfied with the result to write Mael=Estarossa.
*p.s. Either Nakaba mixed up Sariel and Tarmiel here or there is a typo in the original text or the wielder of Ocean and Tornado changed afterwards
*p.p.s The name of The Grace is different from the actual name in the manga here, as Light -> Flash, Sea -> Ocean, Wind -> Tornado
It’s obvious here that there is a kinda “technique” thing Nakaba used to write a story in a fast-paced weekly manga magazine: to form a frame first and add details into it. In the interview book there is also other examples, such as Matrona’s story is decided when Nakaba wrote Diane’s spinoff, though Matrona was mentioned once back from tons of chapters ago, and the similar situation happened to Jivago (It’s Ban’s fox father but I don’t remember how to spell it correctly lol) that the detailed backstory was written when Ban meet him again, but the name itself was mentioned back in Ban’s spinoff.
Back to the topic, I assume that whole Elizabeth’s flashback stuff (when she was Blackouted by Gowther and stood on the meadow and saw Meliodas or Estarossa it really depends your opinion) also serves a similar role here, that Nakaba used as a frame at that point and try to fill in details afterwards. It’s hard to say, to be honest, that Nakaba was trying to imply Estarossa is a goddess at the beginning as some people state in their theory.
(One of the interesting point I’m so fascinating with is that back in the day when Escanor’s magic proved to be one of The Grace, some fanboys were super mad towards Nakaba because they believe to make Sunshine as Sun is a downgrade to the mighty Escanor since the power itself not mysterious anymore and has its limitation, lol.)
It’s interesting to see Nakaba also share some additional foreshadowing on the whole Mael=Estarossa stuff (besides the goddess statue), including the one most people already know:
(Gowther looks like “I know everything” when Sariel and Tarmiel says they are going to take revenge on Estarossa)
And of course here is a more interesting one that I never saw people mentioned!
Translation:
- In Chapter 266, Estarossa used the skill “Killing Saucer” that is also used by Mael after he turn back.
Nakaba: At this time I’m 100% sure Estarossa would be Mael, so here I depict a skill Mael would use. That’s why this skill looks like the sun.
It does look like the sun after Nakaba points out!
Some part, however, is not the foreshadowing as expected (oops). People sometimes think Ludociel is referring to Mael when he held Elizabeth’s chin and says there are better people for you than Meliodas, and this usually connects with the fact that Estarossa does love Elizabeth, but at that time since Nakaba still thought Mael as a dead dead archangel, so this is not the case:
Translation:
- In Chapter 203, Ludociel says to Elizabeth that “There are better person who is suitable for you…”, does he mean Mael here?
Nakaba: Here it may or may not. At this time Ludociel thought Mael is dead, so he means as long as the person is not a demon, there are better people like Mael for Elizabeth.
It’s possible that Nakaba messed up again here as Ludociel tried to contact Nerobasta to call Mael over later in the story, but it’s more likely that as Nakaba stated, he once only thought Mael as a passed away archangel so here Ludociel is not referring to his sibling. Another Nakaba inconsistency wow.
One last thing, is there anyone who wants to see Mael using Rebellion?
Translation:
- In Chapter 177 Estarossa used Rebellion. Is that a skill that Mael know how to use, or is this specific for Estarossa?
Nakaba: I haven’t decided this yet, but it makes sense that he know how to use this from the very beginning if you think in this way that the seven swords are used to destroy the seven hearts a demon had.
But here rather than came up with some skill setting, what I want to focus on is the impact of the drawing. Instead of using one sword to stab and blood-splash seven times, I thought seven swords stabbing at a time would be more interesting. By the way, the name itself is a cultural reference to the movie Rebellion*.
*p.s. “Rebellion” is the Japanese title for the movie Equilibrium.
Hmm, maybe next time!
All pictures are from Nakaba’s interview book and if you are interested in you can get it here.

Nnt Hypothesis or headcannon idk:
Has anyone thought about the origins of the fountain of youth from the fairyking forest?
Well here is what I think: perhaps it has a relation with Tarmiel of the Four Archangels. Tarmiel has the ocean grace and he could have given this “magical water that can cure things” to the fairies. I don’t know why I thought this, but if someone has an opinion about it I’d want to read it.

The Seven Deadly Sins Chapter 263 Review
There’s a general rule of asking your opponent to power up: you have to be overpowered. Estarossa was too cocky for his own good in the last chapter. It is true that he has killed Mael, an Archangel, so his ego has increased greatly; even though it is still left in question on how. When it comes to show off the real power, it’s going to be one-sided beat down. It was a straightforward presentation chapter of Sariel and Tarmiel showcasing their respective Grace.
Before diving into the bout, there’s a scene with Elizabeth and Derieri trying to break away from Black Hound. It occurs to me that perhaps Elizabeth has the similar effect from Sakura of Naruto series. By that, I mean her character becomes tolerable and somehow strong in combat and support when separated from romance. Case in point, she casts a magic that brings out the Ordeals of Jonah to literally eat the hound. It was actually quite cool to see it happen; curious how anime would deliver it.
I know Elizabeth is now more of her literal former self, but it looks promising to see her active over the highest potential of being damsel in distress. If the idea from Nakaba is to slowly showcase her power and capability, then it’s going well so far. It was also nice how she took care of Derieri like a sister during the attack. If it was more of this earlier, I wouldn’t complain that often. Granted, I still may but not like in dislike character level, let alone unintentionally. Hooray, she is progressing! Sadly, no one is in sight; probably killed them with her attack. Hooray, she is destroying!
Joking aside, no one was harm from the hound because Diane shielded everyone until it was over. I remember in the last chapter, she was sighted doing her dance, which led to this, so that’s a nice small detail. Everyone is safe and celebrated that no one was harm. Except Howzer; he ate some sands. While not the main focus, it was a good added and necessary detail to show Elizabeth’s power to be promising as well as her stance and the teamwork continues to be solid.
Speaking of teamwork, the main focus goes to Estarossa versus Sariel and Tarmiel. The Archangels have been dying for this day to arrive; 3,000 years according to Estarossa. What exactly do they do during those years? Their hatred is so strong, not even Estarossa’s Commandment “Love” effect would work on them. Actually, it’s due to Supreme Diety’s Divine Protection that assist them to negate the ability. It is a nice change to learn more insight of the Goddess Clan, since we got plenty of Demon Clan.
It does beg the question: how did Estarossa kill Mael? I know Mael’s Grace was Sunshine, the ability to become powerful by the Sun, so you can argue that he was killed during the night. Maybe that is the case, but I feel like there could be more to the story than we believe. Despite this question, Estarossa either ignore it or believe that he was simply stronger; thrusting his hand through Tarmiel’s gut. After the scene with Elizabeth doing something cool, it’s show time for the Archangels.
It’s straightforward as you can imagine when a character show off his /her real power or in this case those two; one-sided destruction. It’s still pretty neat on the presentation concern. Tarmiel was a water clone and Sariel just laughs at the sad attempt to look badass. Estarossa tries again by attacking him instead, but some field stops him and slices his arm. Estarossa, still cocky, thought their Grace is disappointing, but Sariel makes sure to note that it’s only going to get fun.
Estarossa gets blown away by a tornado. He lands on an ocean that appears out of nowhere. It’s more of him landing on a different dimension, created by their Grace. I really like the detail on the ocean; nicely drawn with good details. Estarossa gets pissed off, almost signaling that he’s going to lose here completely. Usually when they are at the tipping point of their emotion, the battle is nearly decided.
Sariel and Tarmiel feel the momentum; coming to the thought that their victory is almost here. All they have to do is combine their Grace together and form the ultimate attack. When you think about it, Tornado and Ocean is a powerful combination because Mother Nature can be seriously scary. To prove it to be fearsome, they use their Grace to combine the two and form a deadly tornado with water, shredding and suffocating him, and end with Divine Wrath of Enlil, which is basically a powerful thunder strike. Estarossa looks like he got obliterated.
The question remains if this battle is over or is it time for him to show off his real power. If he still holds other Commandments, perhaps he can use one to save himself, though wouldn’t there be a drawback for him? It may help but in the long run, he could die sooner than expected. If he still has left to fight without any assist, I guess his word about being stronger is true. If he is defeated, well that would be odd, seeing how he was gaining momentum, Maybe he is the real jobber of the series, but we’ll see.
Overall, it was a straightforward chapter to showcase the Goddess and that’s fine. The chapter does go by quickly due to its very solid artwork. The magnitude is well portrayed as devastating including the ocean and others like Elizabeth’s and the Archangels’ magic ability. That’s what made the chapter enjoyable. Aside from that, it’s the usual beat down that may end on that note or more will come from Estarossa. To be jobber or not to be jobber, that is the question.
