I almost never make original posts on here, but something's been bothering me lately and I don't know where else to discuss this so here goes nothing.
I've noticed over the last few months/years a sharp increase in the number of websites requesting I accept cookies to use their services, not just to allow them to display ads, but specifically so that their "partners" (aka their clients, bc "partners" is just the bs, palatable term for it) can access my personal data to eventually display personalised ads. And the websites are getting really aggressive about that too. Like, some of them I can't access anymore unless I subscribe (which, no thanks, I just need to check something quick, I don't want to pay 2 or 3€ a month for this) or accept the fucking cookies and personalised ads and I just... don't get it? I mean, I'm not preventing you from displaying ads, I don't care and I know you need advertising to survive, whatever, that's fine. But why do you need my data for this? Why do you need the advertising companies to request personal information about me to (usually incorrectly) deduce my consuming habits and force some useless product on me?
It might be because I'm European and we have stronger laws and regulations about protecting personal data; it might be that something that used to be enforced without my knowledge or my consent has recently become more transparent, and it bothers me now but really i should have always been bothered; it might be because I'm a millenial and I'm seeing the Internet become more of a dumpster fire every year.
Either way, I genuinely do not get it. Companies want/need ad revenue? Sure, go ahead, display ads, I don't care. Just don't expect me to cave to your pitiful attempt at pressuring me to accept cookies and data collection so that your "partners" may attempt to sell me something I don't need anyway.
Honestly, this is complete horseshit and I do not care for it one bit.
Sorry for the rant, and if anyone wants to react/try to explain the logic behind those strategies, please discuss. I might actually come to understand what the fuck is going on.

The thing is though, when the rules are ONLY enforced incorrectly (actual hate speech is ignored on twitter). My point with dA is that it is hands down the BEST site I have been on wrt moderating content even including the cherub incident and there are still those examples of the best case senario failing badly. This shit NEVER works.
Also like, idk how anyone can be so charitable with the current political climate, when this specific “think of the children” argument has been used to silence marginalized people as it slowly expands the targer. It never stops at “just” with think of the children. A quick scan of the blog of the op of the post you reblogged I found them calling a voltron ship with two legal adults “basically pedophilia” even, I don’t trust where this could go.
Not true actually. I’ve legit had success reporting people before as have others. Its just... inconsistent as fuck. Also I will call shenanigans on that DA is actually kinda middle of the road for me in terms of enforcing rules. Like its only sorta ok with art and terrible with actual abuse and harassment. Like if you’re going to come to me with an argument rules are bad we’re going to to have agree to disagree because I’ve had vastly different experience that tell me that no rules are always worse by a significant margin than rules with inconsistent enforcement.
Also as much as I would like to get behind the bandwagon of waggling my finger at people abusing thought of child protection for nefarious secondary agendas I can’t forget that people (yes more than one) like Glip used “they only hate me because I’m a queer :,(” to get make people ignore the mounting evidence against their sexual abuse of actual real minors. So yeah that is definitely a complex issue where I’m completely ok being a “cowardly moderate” because I feel taking a strong stance either way will lead to more harm. I’d rather evaluate situations as they come like Tumblr’s “think of the kids!” stuff being 100% a smokescreen to hide the unpopularity of their change actually being made to satisfy advertisers.
As a last point if that person really is calling voltron pairings between adults “pedophilia” they can cut the horseshit. Like personally I get major creep vibes from people my age that seem weirdly into people that just barely got their grade 12 diploma BUT unfortunately fiction has a tendency of rarely gracing us with characters in their mid 20s or older. What little of those exists are mostly not protagonists either (ie: those are usually the parents or teachers of the protag) so basically its quite different than real life where you have plenty of people your own age to choose from. Context does actually matter sometimes when it comes to fiction because only in fiction can you have like... adult clones and 500 year old infants.

Also u by kotex isn't sponsoring them anymore? When did that happen?if they did it for the movie they're whole advertisement could've been Carmilla A period drama
Yeah Kotex didn’t sponsor the movie which is a good call bc now they can targer a more mature audience which is what we’ve all wanted since the beginning.

My Business
Primary, secondary and tertiary sectors
There are three main types of industry in which firms operate. These sectorsform a chain of production which provides customers with finished goods or services.
Primary production: this involves acquiring raw materials. For example, metals and coal have to be mined, oil drilled from the ground, rubber tapped from trees, foodstuffs farmed and fish trawled. This is sometimes known as extractive production.
Secondary production: this is the manufacturing and assembly process. It involves converting raw materials into components, for example, making plastics from oil. It also involves assembling the product, eg building houses, bridges and roads.
Tertiary production: this refers to the commercial services that support the production and distribution process, eg insurance, transport, advertising, warehousing and other services such as teaching and health care.
Source - BBC Bitesize
The business that I will be a part of will be secondary as well as tertiary. We will create our product and the sell it to our customers, it is our duty to the deliver the product to the customer. We will find a suitable platform or platforms to sell our prodcuct, an example of this could be a webpage or a pop up store/ stall. We must advertise our product to our customers while making sure we are aware of our targer audience and the best way to reach this audience. We are not providing a service to our customers but instead we are providing goods.
In summary a business is a group/organisation that either manufactures a product to sell or provides a service to the customer. There are an increasing and broad range of businesses. From giant international companys such as Microsoft who employ an abundance of people from all across the word to the other side of the scale where there are small star up firms and businesses that can be made up of 1 or 2 people. These would most likely be start up businesses. A start up business is a new firm operating in a market for the first time.
If a business provides a product for example, stationary, cosmetics or food then it is not providing a service but instead product, however in the case of food this can become a serivce in the case of having a restaurant format for example The Harvester. A company that provides services provides something more likely to be a non physical product for example dry cleaners and educational services.

AdWords gets Google Optimize & Google Surveys 360 integrations
New Google Surveys 360 and Google Optimize integrations in AdWords were among the news announced at Google Marketing Next on Tuesday. Optimize With the Optimize integration, advertisers will be able to create and test landing pages tailored for specific campaigns, ad groups or keywords. For example, a travel site could customize a landing page for the query “family friendly hotels” with a family-centric image of kids playing in a pool and test it against an image of the hotel’s exterior. Tailor/test landing pages targered at keyword level via Optimize in AdWords. Coming in months. #GoogleMarketingNext http://pic.twitter.com/er5S20Suem — Ginny Marvin (@GinnyMarvin) May 23, 2017 Optimize came out of beta at the end of March. The testing and personalization solution ties in with Google Analytics. Users can drag and drop page elements in a visual editor without having to use developer resources or edit raw HTML. Also on the landing page front, a new landing page report section will be added to the new AdWords interface (which, by the way, is Search Engine Land Source
