Hey guys so uhm

last time I talked about owning my own p. metallica it did not really go too well to put it lightly and after indigo's passing it took me a very long time to even perserve her properly because of the emotional toll

I have gotten another p.metallica sling after a lot of contemplating and I decided to wait a bit before posting anything. Frankly this time it is going quite well

Meet Enigma [Or alternatively Sapphire]

She is a bit older than Indigo, being born on january this year. They also arrived quite ch o n k y wich was good for me because I was worried in case I got another thin one what to do if they also refuse food and such

then after a week of being here, they molted! and god I was glad it went well. She ate today [the picture above is one I took a couple minutes ago with her having a crimket in her mouth] and even took 2 small crickets :0

so yea I really hope it will stay this way and that she will stick with us a long time T_T

Caught my darling baby freshly molted the other night and got a good picture of her all pale and soft <3

She was given to me free with either another tarantula or an enclosure (don’t remember) and at the time I was told she was a “pinkfoot birdeater”, but having looked at more pictures of Theraphosa apophysis slings her hairs seem much sleeker. My guess now is that she’s actually a Lasiodora parahybana (salmon pink birdeater), because that matches the sleeker hairs and the color contrast between the rear abdomen and rest of the body much better.

I try not to pick favorites with my animals but this little beastie has such a special attitude and appetite that I can’t help but gravitate towards her. Really need to give her a name!

She's just a wee baby, I love her so much 😭

She eats super well and is out watching her surroundings most days. Unlike my other 3 T's who I see about once a month lol.

Here is my current enclosure setup for her before she started "excavating" dirt everywhere lol

It's pretty basic but has been working great so far. Once she molts a few more times, I want to get her a more naturalistic setup that reflects the habitat B. hamorii comes from.

It's kinda difficult to find any information on any T's natural habitat, so any links or advice are definitely welcome!

Finished 6"x9" watercolor gecko commission. Lots of room for improvement (and better brushes) but I'm satisfied. Featuring Hera the gargoyle gecko, Banana the crested, and Porpax karikouyensis on the left and Dendrobium ngoyense on the right, orchids that are native to New Caledonia where the geckos are from. (Not sure if the orchids are native to the geckos' specific islands buuuut whatever).
