New addition to the Dune Part Two cast list. Which character now will be play/voice? Lemme think.
WELCOME to Arakkis, Tim Blake Nelson!
From above - “One possibility is Count Hasimir Fenring, Lady Margot's conniving and over-ambitious husband who takes on a much larger role in the book and presumably stands do so in the sequel as well.”

EPIC WAR DUNE: PART TWO
Tumblr media
In 2024, Dune: Part Two, a science fiction epic, directed by Denis Villeneuve and co-written with Jon Spaihts, is the sequel to Dune (2021).
This adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel continues the story of Paul Atreides battling House Harkonnen on the desert planet Arrakis, aided by the Fremen. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and numerous actors who appeared in the first film are part of the cast.
In 2016, Legendary Entertainment acquired film and television rights for the Dune franchise, after obtaining the rights the film finally started to develop.
Villeneuve signed on as director in 2017, to make a two-part adaptation of the novel due to its complexity. After the first movie’s huge critical and financial success, Legendary gave Dune: Part Two the go-ahead in October 2021.
Previously, it was going to be released in November 2023 due to the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes, the film premiered at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City, on February 6, 2024, and was made available for purchase on March 1 in the US.
It earned captious praise, is considered one of the greatest science fiction, and has grossed over $711 million worldwide. By surpassing its predecessor the film has become the second-highest-grossing film of 2024 and also the highest-grossing film in Villeneuve’s career.
PRODUCTION
The production of Dune: Part Two was handled by many producers:- Villeneuve, Mary Parent, and Cale Boyter, with Tanya Lapointe, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, Thomas Tull, Jon Spaihts, Richard P. Rubinstein, John Harrison, and Herbert  W. Gain signed on as executive producers and Kevin J. Anderson as creative consultant.
There was a plan to make a sequel made by Legendary CEO Joshua Grode.
Dune: Part Two, was officially approved by Legendary on October 26, 2021. Villeneuve and his wife Lapointe began pre-production work.
The key point of the discussion which happened before the agreement of the sequel was to ensure the sequel would have an unshared or exclusive window where it would only be shown theatrically. Legendary and Warner Bros. agreed to give a 45-day window before it would be shown through other channels.
WRITING
The creator of Game of Thrones, David Peterson, started working with the team in April 2019 to design the languages for the movie.
The plot for this movie was written as soon as Dune was released and Dune: Part Two was confirmed. This allowed for an early start to production after the picture was given the go-ahead.
Villeneuve called the movie the “second part” and declared that it would pick up right where the first left off. The first movie was more “contemplative,” he said, while the second will have more action. He portrayed this film as “an epic war film”.
CASTING
The film Dune: Part Two cast Pugh and Butler as stars in the film. Without holding an audition, Butler received the part offer and spent four months of training in Budapest. From May to July Christopher Walken, Lea Seydoux, and Souheila Yaccoub joined the cast as Shaddam IV, Lady Maegot Fenring, and Shishakli.
Tim Blake Nelson was brought on board in January 2023 in an unspecified capacity. Anya Taylor-Joy revealed that she had been cast in the movie when she went to the London premiere in February 2024.
Villeneuve commented that it took “so much work to keep that secret” and expressed amazement that her role had been kept under wraps for so long. Her part had been disclosed in a Letterbox casting credit list for the movie.
MUSIC
Hans Zimmer wrote the score for the first movie and came back to do it for this one. Zimmer had written more than ninety minutes of music before the movie’s announcement to support Villeneuve with his narrative.
WaterTower Music released the two singles “Harvester Attack” and “A Time of Quiet Between the Storms” on February 15, 2024. On February 23, the entire soundtrack CD became available.
RELEASE
Dune: Part Two was cleared to be released on October 20, 2023. But it was later postponed by over four months to March 15, 2024, due to the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes.
Dune: Part Two was released in the IMAX 15-perforation 70 mm format to twelve sites globally, and in the conventional 5-perforation 70 mm format to 38 venues worldwide, following the success of Oppenheimer (2023) in the medium.
On February 6, 2024, the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City hosted the international premiere of Dune: Part Two. On February 15, an additional premiere took place at London’s Odeon Luxe Leicester Square.
The movie was screened for a dying man on January 16, 2024, in a palliative care facility in Saguenay, Quebec, the home province of Denis Villeneuve.
