Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks...

Oh my gosh this is impossible, I like too much and I'm the most indecisive motherfucker. I actually agonized over this, like this is so broad I was trying to think of everything I've ever liked, and what do you mean by favorite, and do I like the story because of the characters or the narrative, and how much do I like them now vs. how much I used to like them. I was doing way too much.

Basically, this is a list (loosely ordered) of my favorite characters (probably) right NOW, either based in recency bias, or in their lasting ability to remain a favorite years later A.K.A. characters that altered my brain chemistry because I'm insane about them:

Yuri Plisetsky - Yuri!!! On Ice

Yuri Plisetsky is my favorite of all time. If the rest of the list isn't quite in order, he's still at the top every time. There are some characters that just click for you and he's one of them. You're gonna start seeing a pattern here with some of these characters so it might just be that I have a type, but either way I love him like he's me. I love to put him in situations. I love to explore his character. I love to imagine his future. And I love his lil face. He's just so determined, and so angry, and I adore him and all his flaws.

2. Otabek Altin - Yuri!!! On Ice

Now listen, he's not a major character, he doesn't have a lot of screen time, but he made a huge, huge impact. It's not a coincidence that I love Yuri P so much, Otabek is so high because of Yuri P. But ultimately, he's one of my all time favorites because of a version of him that exists in fanfiction and fanon. Specifically, I love Otabek because of "From Almaty, With Love", my favorite fic of all time. I love to inhabit his mind, but also I just love him. He's the type of guy who's nothing like me, but I wish I was more like him. Also, I'm just a sucker for the strong and silent type.

3. Megumi Fushiguro - Jujutsu Kaisen

Current biggest projection target. Oh my god how this lil guy has taken over my mind. I watched JJK for the first time in December, but I don't think I really got insane about Megumi until I read the manga and... just check out my tag #megumi fushiguro's gay little hands. He's just so compelling to me. I just love a grumpy teen. I love a troubled little guy. I love how out of touch with his emotions he is. I love that he's insane. I want to put him in every possible situation and see what he does. He's my favorite, I don't know what to say.

4. Ahsoka Tano - Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Ahsoka!!! I love her so much!!!!! It's been a while since I watched The Clone Wars, and I'm off the Star Wars hundred million franchise properties train right now, so I haven't watched the new show, and I probably won't because I like her just the way she is in Clone Wars and I don't need any more. She's the coolest girl, she pulls like crazy, she's some variety of lesbian, she's a skilled fighter, she has a great personality, and she's a brown girl for brown girls. Like, little boys get cool characters they can latch onto all the time, she's that for me. Love her forever.

5. Zuko - Avatar: The Last Airbender

Ahhhhh, Zuko. I'm gonna try to be normal about him. Best redemption arc ever written in any media ever. He's just so lovable. You get to know him even a little bit early on in the series (The Storm) and it's just...OH. You start to understand. And it just grows and grows from there. He's a sympathetic character (The Blue Spirit), but you don't pity him because you're with him every step of the way as he has to grow and fight through all the pain and conflict inside him (Bitter Work, The Avatar and The Firelord). And he makes the worst mistakes. He makes the wrong choices (Crossroads of Destiny). And he has to earn every little bit of his redemption. And he does. What an incredible character. One of the most iconic voices of all time (Dante Basco, I love you). Also, I just love him. "Hey, Zuko here!" He will always have my heart.

6. Yuuri Katsuki - Yuri!!! On Ice

It is actually impossible for me to pick only two pictures of Yuri Katsuki because he's just so precious in every single one in completely different ways. I wasn't sure at first if I was going to put him on this list because Yuri P dominates my thoughts around YOI so much. But I don't love Yuri On Ice because of Yuri P. When I'm actually in a rewatch, Yuri Katsuki reminds me how much I love and adore him and how much he really means to me. Discovering Yuri, and everything he doesn't show you through his unreliable narrator ass as the show goes on is so so special. And nothing in that show could make me fall in love with figure skating the way "Yuri on Ice" and "On Love: Eros" did. My 2017 Spotify Wrapped was 90% YOI music because I used to fall asleep to "Yuri on Ice" on repeat. I love him so much. He means so much to me. That's all I can say.

7. Rue Bennett - Euphoria

She is me. I am her. This is less about her character, and more about how she allows me to see myself and be seen. My weakest parts. My most painful parts. The worst experiences of my life. I don't think I've ever related to a character or what they have gone through more than I have with Rue. I don't think I've ever related to a character's flaws and worst moments more than I have with Rue. Say what you will about Euphoria, I don't care. It's so important to me because of Rue. At least....Season 1 is.

8. Effy Stonem - Skins (UK)

Are we starting to see the patterns here? Effy Stonem is THE original indie sleaze girl. I wanted to be her sooooo bad. I wanted to be her in Gen 1 (I loved Effy Stonem before Gen 2, I'm not like other girls. lmao, anyway...) Skins was a very formative piece of media for me. There is no world where I love Euphoria without having loved Skins first. Skins and Effy made me want to go to raves in Bristol, wear ripped tights, take MDMA, smoke spliffs and cigarettes 24/7... it was actually such a bad influence, but it means a lot to me. I loved Effy from her first appearance on screen, and I loved her until her last. Kaya Scodelario you will always be famous.

9. Ash Lynx - Banana Fish

Ash Lynx is one of the most complicated and compelling characters I have ever seen. I had a hard time deciding to include him because I don't feel like you can divorce Ash the character from Banana Fish the story, or from Eiji and their relationship. Do I love him as his own character, or do I love Banana Fish in its entirety? But I do love him. He's very special to me. Banana Fish is about him. It's a love letter to him, in a way. You can't love Banana Fish without loving Ash, everyone around Ash loves Ash, even the horrible people who want to claim him. His pain and trauma is so overwhelming, but you as the audience can see the person he is through all of that even if he can't, and you just want him to find happiness and see it for himself someday. And be safe for the first time in his life. A tragic hero who really shouldn't have been in a tragedy. An unfair tragedy. He deserves the world.

10. Kyo Sohma - Fruits Basket

At this point you have to be seeing the pattern. I love a well-written grumpy boy. And I love Kyo Sohma so, so much. I watched 2001 right before 2019 and let me tell you, the vidication... I was absolutely in love with 2001 Kyo, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. He was my little shojo crush, it was fine if he wasn't Tohru's. Then I popped on 2019, and he had the SAME VOICE ACTOR!?!?!? Bro, the way I melted. And then the show went on and I noticed he was being framed a little different than he was in 2001???? I mean, if you want my whole watch through check my #fruits basket 2019 tag. I had a whole journey. Let's be so honest, Kyo is on here because I'm in love with him. But also, he's an amazing character with so much deep turmoil from really really difficult circumstances, and he still manages to be caring and attentive and kind, along with a million other amazing character traits. Most character of all time. I love him so much.

BONUS (Characters I can't believe didn't make this list):

The Entire Skins Gen 1 Main Cast (who I love more than Effy, but I can't pick just one favorite), Suguru Geto (who's creeping up on me more and more as I dive deeper into his character), Eiji Okumura (the other half of AshEiji, and just the sweetest boy alive who's also the biggest ride-or-die I love him), and Victor Nikiforov (out of the YOI cast, he's my least most favorite, but I love him so much and his lil heart mouth. He's a star, he is the moment, give him his flowers).

When I first saw his adult self I thought that he hadn't changed that much. But when I saw the Happy Feet Two commercial and saw young Sakuma I thought, he's so smol! Haha. Although it's not as frizzy as it was before. Nishigaki: Shoulder length hair gets frizzy easily, doesn't it. Tano: As for his voice, I wanted him to sound like an adult but I don't think a deep voice suits him. I wanted to show that his ten year older adult self has calmed down a lot. Nishgaki: Mmmhmm! Tano: He said to Akane-chan 'You there, photography is prohibited,' and I thought he sounded quite strict. I don't think he's the type to be overly nice to girls. Nishigaki: I wonder if Sakuma has a girlfriend? Tano: He doesn't seem to interested in girls, haha. I don't think he likes guys who fawn over girls. He's very straight-thinking. Nishigaki: A really pretty girl would suit him! Tano: I think he's the type to make girls work hard! His face is usually cool and expressionless. Even if girls around, he'll continue to do things his own way. A Word About This Pin Up! I wonder is it a memorial photo with the main members of Teikoku Gakuen? Maybe it was taken before Kidou abandoned them for Raimon (bitter laugh). There were a lot of photos taken of them when they were in Inazuma Japan so I feel like Kidou and Sakuma are use to having their photo taken. But Sakuma's smile is definitely an order from the camera man! He's probably trying his very best to smile like that, haha! Putting his hand on his hip is an old habit. When the cameraman says 'I'm taking it!' his hand just naturally goes to his hip. So when I was having my photo is taken my hand also went to my hip, haha! (Tano Megumi)

MAPPA 10th Anniversary Exhibition Planned for June in Tokyo

  It's been an amazing 10 years since anime studio MAPPA was established, and everyone on staff has been working harder than ever lately. To celebrate this momentous occasion, a MAPPA STAGE 2021 -10th Anniversary- event has been announced for June 27 at J:COM Hall Hachioji in Tokyo.

  The list of works being represented at the exhibition include JUJUTSU KAISEN, Attack on Titan Final Season, ZOMBIE LAND SAGA REVENGE, Heion Sedai no Idaten-tachi, and RE-MAIN. Cast and staff members from each project will be on hand, and lottery applications for tickets will be accepted until May 9.

I want to give chocolate from my heart! Kirino ♡ If you said it to him in person he’d probably get angry but one of Kirino’s most attractive points is certainly his loveliness. His keshin and mixi max are beautiful too and we’re touched emotionally by his handsome, hidden fighting spirit.

I want to give chocolate from my heart! Tenma ♡ Even in the parallel world where soccer is lost, Tenma - along with Fei, does his best. His ‘never-give-up’ heart cheers you up!

Ichirouta Kazemaru Voice Actor: Yuka Nishigaki Currently plays for Japan in the pro leagues. Due to his gentle personality, he’s just as popular as Fubuki. In the movie, along with Endou and Kabeyama, he plays the role of a protective senpai for Tenma and Kirino!

Jirou Sakuma Voice actor: Megumi Tano Working as the coach for Teikoku Gakuen, Sakuma is fighting against Fifth Sector as one of the members of the Resistance. Now that soccer has disappeared, is he protecting Teikoku?

Throughout the Chrono Stone series, Kazemaru and Sakuma are…? Q How do you think they’re spending this time? Nishigaki: I think he might be taking action in a place we haven’t seen, like in last year’s movie where he was working with Endou. I wonder is everyone working behind the scenes with commander Kidou. Tano: I think Sakuma won’t work unless Kidou says. On the contrary, if Kidou gives a command, he’ll do it immediately. If Kidou asks for 1, Sakuma will give 10.

What if both of them were brainwashed?

Nishigaki: Since he’s playing in the pro leagues, if soccer disappeared he’d lose his job. I wonder what kind of job he’d do… Because he loves soccer so much, I’d worry… Tano: As for Sakuma… Actually, even if soccer disappeared I get the feeling he’d survive (laughs). He’d probably make a job out of being a model or something.

Nishigaki: The most natural thing for Kazemaru to do would probably be track and field. But he’ll definitely want to fight for the sake of soccer.

Dream of your Inazuma Valentine! Talking with the girl cast!!

Tano-san and Nishigaki-san who play Sakuma and Kazemaru talk to us about how the guys spend their Valentine’s Day.

Dream of Sakuma’s confession ♡ “Take your time. Think about it and decide.” I think Sakuma would call the person he likes and tell them how he feels. I get the feeling that he would just be straightforward and say ‘I like you,’ honestly and earnestly, without using overly romantic talk. But you wouldn’t have to answer straightaway. I feel like he’d say something like, “Take your time. Think about it and let me know.” It’s not really that modern, is it? He’s old-fashioned but isn’t that type of confession more sincere? I think he definitely wouldn’t confess by text message. (Tano)

What Tano-san thinks of Sakuma’s handmade gyakuchoco (chocolate given by a boy to a girl) Sakuma’s handmade chocolate would be 100% penguin. (laughs) He’d search for penguin molds (probably in a cookery shop in Tokyo) and when done, he’d line them up numbers 1, 2, 3 etc… But since it would be a waste to give them to someone he’d probably just eat them all by himself (laughs).

Dream of Kazemaru’s confession ♡ “Wait, I should be the one to confess…” Kazemaru’s confession would be basically the same as what Tano-san thought for Sakuma. He wouldn’t confess in an indirect way like over the phone or by text - I think he’s the type to confess directly. He doesn’t usually seem too experienced with girls and I wonder if that’s changed since becoming an adult, but I think he definitely believes: “The guy should be the one to confess.” So if he was confessed to first, he would say: “Wait, I should be the one to confess to you!” (Nishigaki)

What Nishigaki-san thinks of Kazemaru’s handmade gyakuchoco: Since Kazemaru’s the kid who asked the managers for the recipe for oden (type of Japanese dish), I think he doesn’t lack cooking skills, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’d be able to make professional-like chocolate ike Kidou… He’d make the usual chocolate. Like truffle or something. I feel like he wouldn’t show off anything unconventional. He’d make ordinary chocolate that you could tell was homemade.

Q In the movie we saw them playing soccer for the first time in a while - how was it? Tano: It was pretty amazing~ Nishigaki: When they played soccer, everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves. Since I definitely prefer to see them having fun playing soccer than worrying about everything, watching them was great. Tano: Even though their opponents are middleschool kids, they definitely won’t go easy on each other (laughs). But it’s good that they don’t.

Q Kabeyama, Kazemaru and Sakuma all unleashed a special move together! Nishigaki: 2 out of 3 are the same person. (laughs) Tano: Actually, in the TV series Sakuma and Kabeyama have never spoken to each other, so I was surprised. Nishigaki: They both probably think “We sound alike, huh.” (laughs) Q It was surprising how full of wildlife it was. Tano: They practiced it without us knowing. How did they work it out? Someone probably took the lead in deciding to do this move. I wonder who came up with the name Jungle… It’s full of nature, isn’t it?

Q Speaking of that, in last year’s movie, Kazemaru and Kabeyama survived in the jungle. Nishigaki: Ah, then Kazemaru was definitely the one who came up with “Jungle yarou ze!” (laughs) Since he’s playing in the Pros, the time he was doing special training in different parts of the world, like jungles…?

Q Tell us about any scenes in the movie that left an impression on you. Nishigaki: Definitely the scene where we became a barrier to protect the kids and told them to escape. You can really feel that everyone had become an adult. Tano: The part where Endou looks over his shoulder and smiles, he’s a really dependable guy!

Q How do you feel about the current TV series? Nishigaki: I was surprised! Tano: A bear? Daisuke-san turned into a rock? I was surprised. Nishigaki: On top of that, soccer is banned. It’s an anime about soccer, and they can’t play soccer… Tano: I want to see the kids in GO one day just play soccer without having to worry about anything. They’ve gone through a lot.

Q How do Kazemaru and Sakuma feel about Valentine’s Day? Nishigaki: I think he’d be a little intrigued. He’s not the type to be ‘cool’ - I think he’s just a regular kid. He might be a bit nervous but he wouldn’t let it show. Tano: I think Sakuma wouldn’t know a lot about it at all. (laughs) Like, “Oh, it’s that day?”. But he’d get a lot of chocolate. Nishigaki: As expected, he’s handsome (laughs)

Q Please leave a message for everyone! Tano: Sakuma is waiting for your Valentine chocolate! (laughs) I’m also looking forward in anticipation to what will happen next in the story. I think that Sakuma will continue to act behind the scenes, so please support him. Nishigaki: Since I still have the pressing image of everyone raising their eyebrows, I pray that I can hurry up and see the day they play soccer like normal middleschool kids. Nishigaki: While they were on the trip he was popular with girls, so probably Fubuki Tano: Doesn’t it seem like Tsunami would receive some? Fubuki would receive a lot of honmei choco that girls put a lot of effort into, and Tsunami would receive a lot of giri-choco. Even if you gave it to him without making a big deal (Fubuki), he’d probably accept it happily with an Oh! Thank you! He might even receive some chocolate from other boys yearning after him! (laughs) The person who would be happiest to receive chocolate would be Kabeyama-kun, right? Tano: If Kabeyama received just one box of chocolates, he would so happy. Nishigaki: He’d thank you with all of his heart! Tano: And he’d tell Kurimatsu (laughs) Nishigaki: In GO I think it would be Shindou, right? He’s cool, calm and from a wealthy family; he gives off a prince-like vibe, so wouldn’t he be popular? Tsurugi’s too scary to give chocolate to (laughs) Tano: Tsurugi definitely gives off a ‘Don’t come near’ me vibe. Wouldn’t you have to call on Tenma or someone and ask them to pass on your chocolate?

Those most looking forward to Valentine’s Day are… Kabeyama, Kurimatsu, Shishido and Shourinji?! Nishigaki: Kabeyama, Kurimatsu, Shourinji and Shishido are looking forward to it as a set. Tano: But after not receiving any “But we waited all day!” Nishigaki: Handa might be looking forward to it too, right…? Tano: He’s kind of handsome, I guess (laughs) Nishigaki: I think he’d receive a lot of giri-choco. Mixed in with some honmei choco, but he wouldn’t noticed. It would be funny if Gouenji was looking forward to it, but he has a little sister. Tano: Along with Kidou, they probably think they’ll receive chocolate from Yuka and Haruna. Nishigaki: Then react with “Who on earth could have made this~?” (laughs) In GO there are so many ikemen I bet they’d all receive some. Because of that, they’d look forward to it. Tano: Ah, Minamisawa-senpai seems popular, so I think he looks forward to it.

Endou: I think Endou would definitely aim to make soccer ball-shaped chocolate but in the end it wouldn’t really look like anything… (Tano)

Gouenji: Like the bear present he bought for Yuka-chan. You’d know straight away who the chocolate is for (Nishigaki)

Kidou: It seems like Kidou-san would make chocolate that looks professional enough to be sold in a shop! (Tano)

Kabeyama: Because he’d make something he’d want to eat himself, there’d be a lot. I worry for the person receiving them… (laughs) (Tano)

Tsunami: He’s good at cooking fish, but chocolate…? It would look like a surfboard with 273 written on it. (Nishigaki) It seems like he’d say, “There’s no chocolate I can’t make!” (laughs) “No problem!” The kitchen would be covered with chocolate. (Tano)

Hiroto: I get the feeling that Hiroto is not too great at cooking. But he seems like the type to care more about appearance than taste? (Nishigaki)

I feel like he’d make something shaped like a flower. Like a rose or something. It seems like he’d make something that when he hands it over to a girl and she opens it it makes a big impact. (Tano)

Fubuki: It seems like he’d make winter crystal-shaped chocolate. And since he’s from Hokkaido, I have an idea that he’d make white chocolate. (Tano)

Ichinose: Definitely American-style, right? Nougat-y and sweeeet~ (Tano)

Raimon First Years: I feel like Kageno would make really bitter chocolate. Since Max is skilled, it seems like he could make something like colourful marble chocolate. (Tano)

Since Max is skilled, he could make something in the shape of his hat. Shishido seems like he’d make cute chocolate too. (Nishigaki)

As for Tenma and co….?

Nishigaki: I think Shindou is good at cooking. Seems like he’d make something where both the chocolate and the package it’s in would look like something you’d buy. Tenma seems like he wouldn’t be great (laughs)

Tano: Wouldn’t he gather everyone together and ask: What should I do??

Nishigaki: Finally he’d go to Shindou in a last-minute rush and ask, “Shindou-senpai! How do I get it right?”

Tano: Tenma would make chocolate using whipped cream. Like his hair. (laughs)

Nishigaki: Tsurugi would definitely make sword-shaped chocolate, right? Shinsuke would make God Hand-shaped chocolate or something.

Also: Kirino: Since he looks like a girl you’d think he’d be good at cooking, but since he’s actually quite masculine he’s probably worse than you think.

Fei: Since the chocolate he’d make would be from the future it would be quite futuristic and mysterious. It would be colourful, emerald or turquoise, and possibly glow, with zero calories?!

Kariya: Since eating with his fingers is a nuisance, he’d probably decide on chocolate balls…?

The person with the most romantic confession is… Shindou!? Nishigaki: Since they have many love-rivals, if girls don’t push forward with all their strength, they can’t win. I think there would be girls who think “I have to give him my handmade chocolate in person!” They’d go directly to his house, or call him to the riverbank or something. Tano: I feel like it wouldn’t be strange for Shindou to give a romantic speech to his partner. Nishigaki: The two would stand together and flowers would blow in the background without it feeling out of place. (laughs)

The person with the most passionate confession is… Hiroto!? Tano: I think it’s Hiroto. Nishigaki: Because he seems used to knowing how to treat girls. He rides in a sports car, and he’s a glasses-wearing young CEO. Tano: Even though Midorikawa is always nearby standing guard over him (laughs) Nishigaki: (laughs) I think he’d be able to do it smoothly, without hesitating. He’d set the scene in a pretty place where you could see the night sky, kneel down in front of his partner and hand over flowers… or something. But because his big sister is very important, I doubt he’d get married. Because he’d definitely be looking after the orphanage kids, a little bit like a father.

Leave the delicious chocolate to Kabeyama! The person who knows delicious chocolate, is definitely Kabeyama, right? Tano: When Kabeyama becomes an adult, he definitely goes tabearuki (eating and walking at the same time, like a tour). Like, to all of the cake shops.He has his own column in soccer magazines about ‘This month’s recommended chocolate,’ Nishigaki: When he recommends something, sales go up! Tano: Kabeyama, who travels the world to eat. Nishigaki: It’s no problem to leave it to Kabeyama, even Kidou acknowledges his superiority, make no mistake. ___________

PRECURE: 10 Favorite Image Songs

After much consideration and self-deliberation, a decision has been made! Out of the 20 mentioned in an earlier photoset, here are my ten favorite Precure image songs, in order from oldest to the most recent. It was too hard to rank them as a top ten; therefore, no countdown will occur.

Sunset Realize (Hikari Kujou/CV: Rie Tanaka)

Yukana (despite having a few albums and experience) had nothing on this song. Though it was a close call against Thank You ~I’m Glad I Met You~, there was no resisting the modern ragtime melody in Sunset Realize. This is, personally, Tanaka’s best song of the three. The meaning of the lyrics have since been removed from the main wiki. However, one of the lines, from what I recall the last time the translation was available, mentioned how “one day she will bear fruit”. Well, if that doesn’t mean maturity, I don’t know what is. 

If you were to check out any of the image songs in the Max Heart vocal albums, I recommend this; not just for Tanaka’s soothing, high-pitched, and joyful vocal range, but the breakdown after the second chorus is irresistible (if you are into the vaudeville/ragtime music).

Umi ni Tsuki, Kokoro ni Hikari, Kirakira to... 

(Saki Hyuuga/ CV: Orie Kimoto)

There is not much to say, except Orie can belt. Her voice makes this song worth listening to. Along with her vocals, the guitar riffs and synth give this mysterious, yet optimistic feeling throughout the track. When I first heard this a couple years ago, my mind immediately thought “outer space” and “a score of astrological proportions”. It sounds weird, I know, but once you hear it, you’ll get a similar taste. In honesty, both of Saki’s image songs (even Mai’s) are worth hearing. 

If you ever get a chance, give them a try!

Heavenly Blue (Karen Minazuki/ CV: Ai Maeda)

(OP is crying over the fact she picked this over Yuko Sanpei’s unique vocals in Mon! Sun Dream. How could the upbeat arrangement of a ditz compete with a contemporary piece featuring castanets and a violin solo? Oh, and AiM? Shes AiM. How can you compete with a singer who has done Digimon EDs for years!? ) 

To be brief, it came down to overall presentation and Nozomi’s image song had lyrics that didn’t click very well to me. Plus, it’s obvious how much I love Karen. I’m gonna move on now before I get carried away and go off topic.

Mirai no Kimi e (Setsuna Higashi/ CV:Yuka Komatsu)

Looking back to the Fresh vocal albums, Setsuna’s image songs had the best, in arrangement and writing. It’s a shame, because Love had great songs, but shy from being in my favorites. Nonetheless, the ominous, upbeat track, Mirai no Kimi e, is an immediate win in my book. I still love this song, even if it is almost a decade old. Its backstory fits Setsuna perfectly; about  a person who turns a new leaf and becomes an ally. 

On a scale from one to donuts, highly recommended you check it out!

Only One-derful! (Akane Hino / CV: Asami Tano)

Kansai dialect in lyrics? YES.

Fast-paced, high-spirited vocals from a former idol? HECK YES!

Oh, thank God!! An anthem for friendship and cooperation has become such a headbanging motivation tool for me. I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!! Asami nails her character with such confidence and the score screams hotblooded optimism. This is a HUGE recommendation, especially for those who have depression and anxiety. Consider it an inspirational piece that will fire up your own spirit. You will not regret it!

Clear Eyes (Rikka Hishikawa/ CV: Minako Kotobuki)

Like Fresh, Dokidoki ended up having very few likable songs. Although Sword and Rosetta had seiyuus with wonderful vocals, Minako Kotobuki takes the “diamond” in this contemporary ballad, Clear Eyes. Violins are my guilty pleasure; this song definitely has it. The composition and score leaves a tranquil, nostalgic mood; even though this is almost five years old.

If any song from Dokidoki deserves a listen, this is the one. 

New Arrival (Hime Shirayuki / CV: Megumi Han)

In short, it’s MEGUHAN!! HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE MEGUHAN?! THE MUSIC IS INFECTIOUS!!! YOU CAN’T RESIST THE MEGUHAN!!! 

(Modern disco funk done with a seiyuu who has such a charming voice is so worth dancing to.)

ENDLESS TORCH (Towa Akagi/ CV: Miyuki Sawashiro)

Screw every other song in G!PP (except Red Concerto, Be a Princess and Primal Place). 

ENDLESS TORCH is a masterpiece that is too good for this franchise. Upon the first listen, my heart died, then resurrected itself. Once again, violins and pianos are heavenly instruments when in sync can ease the pain in me. With Sawashiro’s vocals, it is a wild flight of warmth and power. 

Need I say more? ENDLESS TORCH is a definite treasure among the slew of image songs from that season, why I loved Towa, and Go! Princess in general.

Sorairo (Kotoha Hanami/ CV: Saori Hayami)

I’m not crying. I SWEAR TO GOD I’M NOT CRYING!!!

THIS IS ALL SAORI’S FAULT!!! DAMN YOU SAORI HAYAMI!!!

What kind of piano is that?! Why am I immediately having childhood feels!?

My heart is feeling weird...I NEED HELP!!!

Aozora Alright (Aoi Tategami/ CV: Tomo Muranaka)

Precure seems to create very few rock-genre image songs throughout the years. Smile gave us one of the most rapid-firing, up-tempo hits with a former idol at the wheel. HappinessCharge delivered strong alternative rock tracks done by Sphere’s Haruka Tomatsu. Kirakira brings this high spirit and punk rock feeling back in Aozora Alright. To this day, this is the only track out of the five image songs released earlier this year to be a smash, in my opinion. [In fact, my younger nephew LOVES this song to death; he will play it almost over and over again, because of the arrangement and Muranaka’s powerful range.] 

Personally, her voice is the best out of the five. The lyrics truly show what kind of person Aoi is and it gets my blood pumping every time. 

As time goes on, I’m sure this will remain on my playlist for years to come!

At last, this concludes my ten favorite Precure image songs in the franchise. As of today, I still have to hear the new Kirakira vocal album, including the Macaron/Chocolat duet, which will be later this month.
