Thomas Romain: Aw yeah. Things are looking up. We've got Code Lyoko: Evolution in the works, a more orchestrated version of "A World Without Danger" for the theme, live action, and cleaner 3d models, it's gonna be lit!

Tania Palumbo: Heck yeah! And the first episode is gonna be called "X.A.N.A. 2.0" so people know what's up! And we're bringing William back and making him a full member of the team! So looking forward to this!

Jeremy: Uh, guys?

Thomas: Oh, hey Jeremy! What are you doing here?

Jeremy: Well, I just heard the news about what's gonna go down in the new sequel series and I just wanted to ask you something.

Tania: Oh, well, go ahead! We're all ears!

Jeremy: Yeah, um, why don't I have a Lyoko avatar?

Thomas: Uhhh

Jeremy: It's just something that's been bugging me. I mean, you pretty much kept brushing me off with this throughout the original and when I heard we were getting a sequel, I thought, "Oh, maybe now's my chance" but now I'm hearing I'm still not getting a 3d model?!?

Tania: Look, Jeremy, we can explain-

Jeremy: What's there to explain?!? You had me be the face of the show constantly in the original, having me look ridiculously goofy in the cover art as a 2d character next to everyone's 3d Lyoko models, and now that you have a bigger budget for cleaner animation, you're just gonna brush me off again?!?

Thomas: Jeremy, you're the computer guy! We needed someone to-

Jeremy: To look after the supercomputer every episode. I get it. In the first few seasons, I was the only one who could work the supercomputer, but you lost that excuse when Aelita was finally de-virtualized and was just as proficient with the supercomputer as I was. Plus, how many times did the others have to step up and take over when I was out? Heck, Sissy took over once and we got through!

Tania: Ok, that's fair. But it's not like we left fans without a reason! You were scared of the scanners!

Jeremy: You lost that excuse the day you had Aelita scan me into that little bubble of 2d animation where I still didn't get a Lyoko model, btw! That could've been my debut! I finally wasn't afraid of the scanners anymore and could've walked out of there looking GOATed!

Thomas: We just didn't think people would be that interested since you're-

Jeremy: A nerd, right? So, you're telling me the fans wouldn't have cared and I didn't get enough clout to have my own Avatar despite being the face of the show???

Writers: ...

Jeremy: And it's not like you didn't have concept art from the beginning, I mean look at this!

Thomas: Oh, come on! You gotta admit, the elf look is cute but not as awesome as the others. Plus, the Legend of Zelda fandom would've been after us faster than an actual XANA attack!

Jeremy: So, you don't think after all this time, you could've edited it to look better? Alright bet, let me show you something. Do the words "Code Lyoko: Overpowered" ring a bell to you?

Thomas: OH-

Jeremy: Yeah, I want you to take one look at this and tell me there's no drip here:

Tania: You gotta admit, this has more drip than a waterfall.

Thomas: *sigh* Tania, you're not helping.

Jeremy: I could've been something huge, man! My glasses could've been upgraded to goggles, I could've had tech gear, I could've had drip! You totally f***ed me up! I could've led the team in both the real world and cyberspace.

Thomas: Even if we gave you an avatar, what powers would we even give you?!? You're literally just skilled with the computer and the program upgrades your physical skills.

Jeremy: Oh wow, that's a tough one. Just as a thought, maybe you could've, I don't know, BASED IT OFF OF AELITA'S POWERS! Dude, before the energy spheres, she barely had anything either and she was still a major asset. I could've been another character that could deactivate the towers! Do you know how many of our problems would've been solved if the team had a backup key!

Tania: I mean, then the stakes wouldn't have been as high.

Jeremy: We are dealing with a sentient program bent on world domination and you're saying the stakes aren't high enough? If literally any of the towers or replicas weren't stopped in time, WHAT WERE WE GONNA DO??? We would've been TOAST!

Thomas: Ok, maybe you have a point.

Jeremy: Even then, I still could've had other powers. Do you realize how OP I would've been with my computer knowledge put to work inside the actual computer? I could've had a holographic keyboard giving us all kinds of access while still virtualized! I could've been out here flying, shutting monsters down left and right, I could've been a GOD in Lyoko! You robbed me of that!

Thomas: And what if XANA 2.0 got you? What if we had another William situation on our hands, what would you have done?

Jeremy: Well, one of two things would've happened. Either (1), the whole thing would've lasted an episode with Aelita using the program we used to bring back William or (2) We would've had a whole arc of trying to get me back while also showing my thoughts merged with XANA 2.0's and given us more insight into the character, which would've gotten the fans even more invested! We could've found out whether XANA 2.0 had its father's memories of being left behind by Franz Hopper, why it wanted to take over the world in the first place, whether William ever had some kind of impact on it. WE COULD'VE HAD A DEEPER STORYLINE GOING HERE!

Tania: Not gonna lie, that is pretty good. It would've had me invested.

Jeremy: But no, you still think people are just gonna brush me off as a nerd despite my live-action counterpart looking like Cody Martin with glasses right before he evolved into Jughead Jones. I could've been something, man! You f***ed me up you godd*** f***ing imbecile!

Thomas: How are you even censoring your curses right now?!?

Jeremy: I hacked this conversation and now can curse like a motherf***ing sailor! That's how f***ing GOATed I am!

Tania: We really should've given him an Avatar.

Thomas: Dammit...

He's so sexy. <3 Thank you, Tania Palumbo, for the lovely costume designs. This picture took a while for me to draw and ink, but I had a lot of fun with the painting process and finished it in one sitting. I started with a pink underpainting, which was a fun change of pace.

INFIOROSA 2023. A Favara completati i tappeti floreali. Visitabili al Castello Chiaramonte

Rimarranno visibili e visitabili per tutta una settimana all’interno del Castello Chiaramonte di Favara i due splendidi tappeti floreali realizzati dai Maestri infioratori di Noto, nell’ambito della prima edizione di INFIOROSA - la prima infiorata artistica a Favara – Festival dei Fiori e del Wedding. Oggi, domenica 16 aprile, il Castello di Piazza Cavour rimane aperto anche nel pomeriggio. Uno dei due tappeti floreali ritrae l'immagine dello stemma comunale della città di Favara, l'altro invece, a forma circolare riporta l'immagine della Triscele, conosciuta comunemente anche come Trinacria o Triquetrasi (la raffigurazione di un essere mitologico con tre gambe), simbolo della Sicilia. Questa mattina (domenica 16 aprile) il sindaco della città di Favara, Antonio Palumbo, ha incontrato l’organizzatrice di INFIOROSA 2023, Antonella Airò e alcuni dei suoi stretti collaboratori come Giovanna Crapanzano e i 23 maestri infioratori di Noto che si sono impegnati per la realizzazione delle due opere d’arte floreale. Erano presenti anche i fioristi di Favara che hanno contribuito economicamente alla realizzazione dei due tappeti floreali: F.lli Costa, Noel Patti, Tania Miccichè (Dillo con un fiore), Verde Idea, Piante e Fiori Macauda, Gaetano Matina e Fiorò. Due giorni di intenso lavoro questo venerdì 14 e sabato 15 aprile per i maestri infioratori di Noto che con i due tappeti appena ultimati stanno regalando a tutti i visitatori una vista magnifica. Con l’infiorata di Infiorosa 2023, a Favara è giunta per la prima volta un assaggio della loro arte tramandata da generazioni. Nel pomeriggio di ieri (sabato 15) a loro si era unita pure la stessa organizzatrice, Antonella Airò, che ha festeggiato così pure il suo compleanno. Ha dato il suo contributo nel completamento del tappeto che ritrae la Trinacria. Il fiore sarà protagonista assoluto anche dei futuri eventi. I Hear You - Behind the Scene- Story development

"I Hear You" is the story about Eric to forgive his father mistake that made in so many years ago. This is the story about forgiveness, empathy, and personal growth.

Honestly, I think I am not that creative people who always got the new idea/ funny story, so I have no idea what should I write for the script at the beginning. I am really refuse to build the story with random elements and called it 'creative process', it is not makes sense at all and that;s the worst ways to create the story(in my opinion), it is hard to find/ build the relationship between your feeling and the story, and that will be like a very hard task that I have to finish, without any good feeling in that. 

It is so easy to spend out all your passion and patient when you are making animation.

So what should I do? it's simple, I am a good at observation, just drag things in real life put it in story, which have some personal emotional connection.

And here, is the paragraph from my theoretical Text about my motivation of making this film:

Nowadays, People posted things and share their life in social media, I think it is because they just wanna to be heard. Listening and being heard are the most basic and important things in relationship, but most of the time, for somehow, people tend to hide themselves in front of the family. Maybe it is about the expectation and deviation, parenting method, or the other reason, at least you can see isolation from people, or from parent become a serious issue, and we all got some unsolved problem. I always think people should put an end to pass, so they can move forward faster, as the artwork to represent to finish my college life, I would drop down my sorrow and emotion in my teenage times, and this is the basic motive to produce the film.

Concept: the main elements in the story:

[Childhood Trauma and PTSD ] "I Hear You" is the story about Eric to forgive his father mistake, which is a car accident that made mothers dead while alcoholic father was in the driver seat. "Baby Driver" has similar background story of the main character as my GT animation, they are both lost their parent/ mother in their childhood. In "Baby driver". they would using the humming voice while the bad memories flashback and as the internal sound for the main character to show his uncomfortable feeling. I think this is a interesting point in the sound design and I might take this as reference.

[ Narration interspersed with flashback ] I always obsessed with abstract the storytelling style, and I thought I would be a film student. After chosen the wrong major, I am being an animation student and feeling like classmate around me tend to more directly storytelling style. So I want to try more abstract way to tell the story in character animation. A Calarts animation student Alex Avagimian made his 3rd year film “Little Bandits” (2018), and I really love he create the tension by using some one simple event, what happened on the event it is very obvious, but the emotion behind the story is really strong and excellent, and that is the style that I wanna try to make. Some special narrative ways like "memento"(2000) is too hard for me, so I just using some simple narration interspersed with scene, which is the memory of that car accident, to helping audience know the reason behind what cause their relationship became so bad.

[ Symbolic object ] Using symbolic object to represent person or event is very popular in movie, and also can made audience understand the plots and director's mind more easier. So I used some element too. “Black Deer” and "fire" is represented the car accident in memory, and "Bird " is represented mother , also the freedom and liberation that Eric are craving for. Because Eric blames Father murdered mother, and in the way, this is his own self-aversion feeling that project on the father. He feels he was inability to change with he lost the ideal figure to learn, while he was growing up.So he want to move forward and free like a high-flying bird, and using bird as a symbol is a nice way.

The reason that I named this titled ,is I think being heard is the first step to out of darkness; also, it brings the contrast in the film: even son and father didn't talk, but the son heard his father's needs and his needs.

[The struggle of the character] 

Eric lose his mum in the car accident when he was 8. After it , he has been living in the environment only with father. Because the mother used to take care of Eric, and father has very strong self -esteem, and did not know how to take care his son, that made Eric become more independent in early days. But it also forming the distance between two of them: Eric would not talk with father because he hated the father used to quarrel with mother , and did not complete for responsibility of father, and thought that father should very strong responsibility for mother's death.

Father has been always feeling guilty for his wife's death. Even before that accident, he felt so depressed about how to take his family and jobs duty, so being an alcoholic, and give vent to his family.

But it was 10 years ago, Eric found that how hard would it be this burden that father is carrying during all those years. He wants to make peace with father ,but he could not forgive from the damage that caused by father in those many years, while he was growing and learning how to be a person.

The father is getting old too, but he still cannot release from it, and facing the problem..... __________________________________________

OKAY so in 2000 there was an animated french student film titled Les enfants font leur cinema. It was 50 seconds long BUT the students who made it, Thomas Romain and Tania Palumbo, later went on to make a pilot episode using many of the same characters from Les enfants. This pilot, for a show called Garage Kids, later evolved to become Code Lyoko, which premiered in 2003.

the show is about a group of kids who attend a french private school called Kadic Academy. these kids (jeremie, ulrich, odd, and yumi) discover a supercomputer in a nearby abandoned factory thats hooked up to a virtual world called Lyoko. lyoko houses two AIs: Aelita, a benevolent young girl with a missing memory who desires to become human, and XANA, the equivalent of a selfaware computer virus bent on world domination.

When the computer wakes up, XANA begins to infect the real world in some pretty life threatening and horrifying ways. In order to combat this, the three kids (with Jeremie manning the supercomputer) enter the world of Lyoko to act as bodyguards for Aelita, who is the only one who can deactivate XANA’s towers of control.

the show lasted for 4 seasons between 2003-2007. the “real world” portions were 2d animated, whereas the scenes on lyoko were 3d. the fifth season, premiering in 2012, was entitled Code Lyoko: Evolution. the earth scenes were now live action and it was set 6 months after s4.
