thats awesome! any fiction you like or are you more of a non-fiction person?
I'd say I read about 80% nonfiction, and most of the fiction I read is in graphic novel form. not that I dislike fiction! recently I've been trying to get back into reading fiction books that came out after, like, 2010. but it's slow going.
it seems from your blog that you're on the hunt for books to read, but it's highly likely that my favorite fiction novel, Terry Pratchett's Night Watch, has likely already crossed your eyes, as well as other top level comic recs (fma, dunmesh, witch hat atelier). still, I can recommend Naoki Urasawa's Monster for a thriller/suspense series you're somewhat less likely to have already been recommended, along with Master Keaton by the same author, which explores some of the same themes about humanity, ingenuity, and the aftermath of conflict in a more lighthearted story. or if you're interested in seeing how far an artist is allowed to go in cape comix before editorial fiat, read arkham asylum: a serious house on serious earth with author commentary. (a fair warning for certain choices made depicting mental health disorders.) for independent comics, e.k. wearer's landmark tj and amal remains the platinum standard for telling the story you want to tell, authorwise.
for non-graphic print fiction, still drawing from my cryogenically frozen-at-2010 knowledge bank, I also still reread the anthologies Who Can Save Us Now and Machine of Death. I have an incredibly soft spot for short story/anthology being the highest/purest form of speculative/genre fiction, likely just due to how the tradition has been inherited. at some point I'm going to retrieve and read through a promised collection of Heavy Metal (métal hurlant).
#terribl terrible way to find out heavy metal folded again after its revival. damn!#tangerinecat14#powstuff

Is the natural state of the universe quiet or chaos
I guess it's chaos, even the things that seem to be the stillest are constantly changing at their own rhythm

whats the most beautiful song youve ever heard
"I get around" (Beach Boys) and "Mr. Blue Sky" (Electric Light Orchestra) are the two songs I automatically think of when I consider what I think "good" songs are. Idk why but I can't really think of any songs I'd consider particularly beautiful, just ones that feel nice to listen to

#prev WHAT does that mean!@tangerinecat14 #prev can i. can i please know why you tagged this as alan alda @dilfsuzanneyk
Alan Alda did this show on PBS in the 90s called Scientific American Frontiers where he interviewed scientists about their work. He "met" a robot a team of scientists was building and decided the best course of action was to flirt with it.
Did I mention this happened twice?
They weren't entirely humanoid, either. One of them poured him a drink and he was like "so are you going to be in town for the whole convention?"
@persianflaw you can back me up on this

SET TEN - ROUND TWO - MATCH THREE
"Judith and the Head of Holofernes" or "Judith I" (1901 Gustav Klimt) / “oh god i had a really big epiphany about love and personhood but i’m too drunk for words” (2019 - @sightofsea (@billypotts))
JUDITH AND THE HEAD OF HOLOFERNES: Judith looks hot (im gay) + she's holding the head of a guy who got what he deserved (murder is sexy) + Klimts gold era is gorgeous with the gold leaf looking like he etched Judith out from behind a gold leaf canvas (@hooseiche)
OH GOD I HAD A REALLY BIG EPIPHANY ABOUT LOVE AND PERSONHOOD BUT I'M TOO DRUNK FOR WORDS: Whenever I see this painting it hits me with the "2am drunk epiphany about love and personhood" feeling all over again. :) (@tangerinecat14)
("Judith and the Head of Holofernes" is an oil on canvas painting with gold leaf done by Gustav Klimt. It measures 84 cm × 42 cm (33 in × 17 in), and is held by the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere. Klimt later did a second painting on the same subject.

most influential book in your life? or if thats too personal then whats the best book youve read?
despite having a thing in my header saying I'm askable, I don't get asks from (relative) strangers that often, so this is great. unless you're a bot or trying to dox me, in which case, I will be sad. but otherwise!
the most influential book in my life is atul gawande's better, which, through changing my understanding of the scope of health interventions, diverted me from lab wetwork microbiology into public health epi. it's also just really good; it's unfair that some people can doctor and write.
#sorry that link is to a pubmed page. honestly the best review webpage of it i could find cursorily#second place is actually the seabiscuit biography which i read at like age 10 or something and turned me onto narrative nonfiction.#tangerinecat14#powstuff

SET TEN - ROUND ONE - MATCH SIX
"The Memory of Me (How Could I Forget)" (? - Brandi Milne) / “oh god i had a really big epiphany about love and personhood but i’m too drunk for words” (2019 - @sightofsea (@billypotts))
THE MEMORY OF ME (HOW COULD I FORGET): I love how Milne uses such bright colors, and child like imagery but manages to create such surreal and evocative imagery. (@beelzeblogging)

SET ELEVEN - ROUND ONE - MATCH FOUR
"Hamlet and Ophelia" (2000 - Andrej Dugin) / "Two Earthlings" (2003/2009 - John Brosio)
HAMLET AND OPHELIA: [no additional commentary] (@angfdz)
TWO EARTHLINGS: This painting makes me feel so very, very sad. I hope you will count it if its the TITLE that really gives the final effect. It being "two earthlings" feels like this wave of oh... oh both me and a dinosaur are earthlings. Despite the astronomical differences between us, despite the fact we have never met alive, we are Two Earthlings. Every once-or-currently living thing shares this earth with us. If this planet is truly the only place with life in the universe, we all share a home. (@tangerinecat14) (also submitted by @wyrmsandrocs and anonymous, and 2 others who have commentaries)
("Hamlet and Ophelia" is a mixed media piece done by Russian-born German artist Andrej Dugin for an edition of Hamlet published in 2000.
"Two Earthlings" is an oil on canvas piece by John Brosio. It measures 48 x 48 in (122 x122 cm).)
