Canes News 6/30/2024

• Canes traded Jake Guentzel’s trading rights to Tampa Bay in exchange for a 3rd round pick in the 2025 draft.

I personally have a lot of feelings about this and I don’t love the way it seemed to have gone down, but I’m not in the rooms so 🤷🏻‍♀️

•Canes extended qualifying offers to: Seth Jarvis, Martin Necas, Jack Drury, and Dylan Coghlan. Hopefully some extensions will be announced soon.

•They did not extend offers to: Max Comtois, Griffin Mendel, Blake Murray, and Tuukka Tieksola

Other than that free agency starts tomorrow and I’m very anxious to see how everything shakes out!

i'm just warming up cody hockeymode btw. spinning in that little microwave. i need to lock the fuck in. the 2024-25 season will be the season of me, cody sergeifyodorov, locking the fuck in. i gotta get into it. first i'll memorize every 1oa pick there ever was. the sens picked a bunch of flops in the 90s you gotta remember that one. and then i'll memorize every cup winner. after remembering 1993 for so long I had a brief and terrifying flashback there where i didn't remember 93 and i freaked. still don't know 95 and 96 though. was it devils avs? or avs devils? now i can't remember 2000. was THAT avs? or 1990. who the fuck was it then... the oilers????? everything 1979 and before you just guess habs and there's a 50-50 chance you're right. now im really working... after that it's time to remember everyone's ahl affilliates. i keep wanting to put too many fs and ls in affiliate. afilliate? affilliate? what ever. sometimes these things don't make geographical sense (syracuse new york is the tampa bay lightning's affi-- you know the word) and i don't know if every team has them (what are the canes doing). and then i need to memorize everyone's pipelines. who are the prospects who are the childrennnn... actually not everyone's just chicago's. anyway call back in about 2 weeks for my pre-season (not preseason but before The Season) predictions. i'm going to be meannnnnnn bc im a homer a hater and a proud hockey knower

no one, really. im all in on the bruins until theyre out of it.

bruins leafs its obvs bruins.

caps beating the rangers would be funny but meh i have no dog in this fight. caps.

canucks preds, fine with either. preds would be funnier but im actually SO tired of the U2 narrative. but also: barrie. but also: juice. but also: zucker. but then again: boeser. ill go preds on balance. but im not happy about it.

jets avs. obviously. thats like the one team i actually cannot stand.

stars knights. controversial but: knights. all of hockeyblr keeps telling me to hate vegas and i dont like being told what to do. also: eichel.

oilers kings is hard. i like mcdavid, LOVE hyman but thats balanced out by how many just. terrible people they seem to have collected this past year. kings.

panthers lightning. idk. whoever comes out of that series is going to be 1: hurt. 2: mean. if the bruins beat the leafs id prefer tampa in round two, if the leafs beat the bruins then either matchup will be fascinating. on balance: lightning.

Hopefully this finally posts correctly, from it deleting half of it from my google doc, and not letting me copy it onto my tumblr, then tumblr deleting it from my tumblr last night. This fic has been through a lot, this fic is for @lila-rose for @callsign-denmark ‘s Luck of the puck fic exchange. It was so fun to write for you!! And getting to write for Andrei, I love getting to watch stuff about him. Sorry about the last scene it was my first time writing a bar scene.

As Tampa got a second goal behind Andersen, Carolina came back and did the same thing for Vasilevskiy. But when one of the canes gets hurt and has to come off the ice, the Lightning take advantage of it and come out strong for the third. As the clock runs out the canes lose by two but it was just what the Lightning was needing after a horrible loss to the Devils on Thursday. After the game, and the team has came off the ice and started to pack up. Andrei came walking up from the home locker rooms. “Hey, Y/N since you don’t fly out until Monday do you want to go out tomorrow night for Den’ Svyatogo Patrika?”

“Sure, pick me up at my hotel.”

Anaheim Ducks: Lukas Dostal is doing a damn good job tending that net. I'm super excited to see where he goes!

Arizona Coyotes: Of course, our pride king Travis Dermott!

Boston Bruins: Look. I said I was gonna not name the most known players. But you can't expect me not to name a goalie for the Bruins! Impossible! I'm gonna give the edge to Jeremy Swayman.

Buffalo Sabres: Probably Jeff Skinner, honestly. Most cursed man in hockey. Does that make me old?

Calgary Flames: I don't follow the Flames much but I do really like Cody Taylor.

Carolina Hurricanes: Pyotr Kochetkov is, in my opinion, the only Cane with rights.

Colorado Avalanche: I am forgiving Ross Colton for that really shitty shift against the Devils because he's holding Woody's hand and they're cute. But I'm watching you, mister.

Columbus Blue Jackets: Alexandre Texier. He's French! And played in Switzerland last year! And is suffering!

Dallas Stars: Thomas Harley is carrying half my fantasy teams and he seems like such a fun dude!

Florida Panthers: Sam Reinhart, the highest-paid Panther, has no goals and one assist in his last six games and his ice time is declining. When I hear of all the positive qualities the team lacked in the past, I think of Reinhart - lol nah that's just the Reino copypasta. Love him!

Los Angeles Kings: Long Distance Girlfriend Kevin Fiala and his hysterical wife!

Minnesota Wild: Mats Zuccarello is very short. This is always fun. Especially because his stick is very long. Also fun.

Montreal Canadiens: Juraj Slafkovsky is not only worryingly homoerotic with every single Slav he meets, he is also trying valiantly to overcome the bust narrative, and he's silly and goofy! What more do you want?

Nashville Predators: Roman Josi. I am not immune to a good-looking Swiss man.

Vegas Golden Knights: I simply believe that if one does not at least admire Jack Eichel for his dedication to being a bitch and ruining all the narratives, one does not exist to me.

Washington Capitals: They have Dylan Strome from the fics! It just takes some time, little girl you're in the middle of the ride, everything everything will be just fine, everything everything will be alright alright...
