I have a headcanon that Akashi doesn't just like dogs but is also really good with them in terms of training them and getting them to listen. He probably gives a lot of advice to Kuroko for Nigou and any other friend who owns a dog. And when they ask why he has such good advice, he just chuckles and says, "I've trained a horse before. Training a dog is child's play."
