[IMAGE ID:] A sign above a floppy disk in a glass case reads:
The Morris Internet Worm Source Code.
This disk contains the complete source code of the Morris Internet worm program. This tiny, 99 line program brought large pieces of the internet to a standstill on November 2nd, 1988.
The worm was the first of many intrusive programs that use the Internet to spread.
The Computer History Museum.
[END IMAGE ID]
Early in our worldbuilding process were were thinking of different legends, folk tales, and histories that would belong to each of the societies. We thought it would be only fitting for Talsoria to have had a similar “worm” infect their developing computer systems many many years ago, an incident which would have made it’s way into popular language, superstition, and folk legend.
We may touch more on Talsorian history and folk legends in a future episode, but as of episode 6, “The Worm” is also explained and canonized in a wonderful song by The Folk Divine, which you can listen to and/or purchase on their bandcamp, here.
The Morris worm or Internet worm of November 2, 1988 was one of the first computer worms distributed via the Internet. It was written by a student at Cornell University, Robert Tappan Morris, and launched on November 2, 1988 from MIT.

i love peaches’ name. canned peaches, even. it is the epitome of non-binary noun names but i am obsessed with the idea that their mother named them canned peaches at birth
#canned food is implied to be a luxury too (at least in talsoria)#so maybe its akin to naming yourself 'diamond' or smth#arcpod#station arcadia

okay so we know that it's not unusual for people in talsoria to have bionic implants. we also know that pets mostly exist as robots instead of actual animals. which means, HYPOTHETICALLY, it's possible there are people in talsoria walking around lifelike cat ears attached to their head

My thoughts about the Night of Stars episode
- very happy that [fabric rustles] in transcripts are still a thing after TMA has ended
- I wonder if Lyssel is autistic
- the next time I am at a bonfire, which might be awhile, I am seriously thinking of suggesting The Fire Song
- the stars in talsoria sound so cool
- overall I loved this episode

straw hat pirates and station arcadia
is this another one of my niche crossover posts? perhaps, but it’s been sitting in my drafts so i might as well send it off. there's a shared general theme of revolutions, freedom and anti-government sentiments so it’s not like it’s out of nowhere.
bit of background for non-arcpod fans, each of the lands within Station Arcadia fits a certain punk aesthetic: Gannon Islands is Solarpunk, the Empire is Dieselpunk, Hardizan is Steampunk, and Talsoria is Cyberpunk. as for the characters, i'll try to give a lil description but you really just gotta listen to the podcast to really understand my choices.
anyways, here's what arcpod characters would best fit each of the straw hats plus which land they'd be from if they were in station arcadia.
Luffy
idk bro, rubber boy is too free to be assigned a character
Gannon Islands - i think garp would be a part of one the Empire's navies and he kicked luffy into the Gannon islands for his own safety
Zoro
Peaches - a stubborn and reckless mail courier, they’re the loyal right hand man of the Hardizan revolution
Talsoria - cyberpunk swordsman go brrrr (also that one figure lmao)
Nami
Bluebell - the femme fatale of the Clercourt (Empire) revolution, he’s not afraid to weaponize his looks to get his way
Talsoria - based off of vibes lol
Ussop
Memorie - a wannabe Talsorian revolutionary who’s great with faer hands and at hacking
Hardizan - the overalls and goggle combo makes it look like he's ready for the factories
Sanji
Teddy - a prickly and hardboiled private eye from Clercourt
the Empire - family names are really big there ;)
Chopper
Charlie - leader of the Hardizan revolution that he started to help others, no idea how he got there and doubts his (good) leadership and abilities
Hardizan - i think it's cause of the hat tbh
Robin
Kass - the mysterious radio host of Station Arcadia, they want to learn and share the stories of the world with anyone who could listen
the Empire - government suppression of knowledge babey, also has active revolutionary groups
Franky
Z - the suuuuper fun and cheery person in the Station
Talsoria - cybernetic body modification capital
Brook
Marvin - a storm chaser and war reporter
the Empire - they have some interesting ghost stories there with all the wars going on
Jinbei
Axel - a fisherman and budding politician who tried to fix the system from within
Gannon Islands - fishman island 🤝 gannon islands: dealing with the negative effects of foreign superpowers
#one piece#straw hat pirates#mugiwara no ichimi#station arcadia#arcpod#wildfandom rambles on#is this a tactic to get more op fans to listen to arcpod#or to get more arcpod fans to watch op?#yes absolutely

We made one for each Station Arcadia society! (Since our podcast is really more like 4 podcasts in a trench-coat...)
In order: The Empire, the Gannon Islands, Hardizan, Talsoria
So @lightheartspod found this great drink-maker piccrew and now all the fiction podcasts are having fun with it making their shows as drinks
Join in the fun! 😃

A few days late this time! Been like... busy but also not??? But this episode is GOOD!!!
Lyssel’s one of my absolute favourite characters honestly! Lil vent dweller who’s there when you call just,,, *yes* that’s who I want to be
Kass’s voice acting continues to be simply top notch! The character voices for the mother and businessperson are fantastic and different from each other and wonderful and simply brimming with character and emotion!!
We learned a lil more about Kass’s pre-station days and there’s a lot there... this was a real neat episode for worldbuilding!
I must admit I haven’t been paying as much attention to the talsoria plot as I probably should but I think that this old woman and also maybe the Prince are gonna be pretty important!
Also jewels? Jules? However ya spell their name is honestly a mood figuring out a name isn’t easy,,,,
Kinda wondering about Talsorian naming conventions, is Kass the Handle they chose or a name that they picked after leaving? Hmm...

hi regarding the 'podcast characters sensing each others pronouns' post yall reblogged, i was wondering if there was an in-universe explanation for it. like i lowkey hc that in talsoria, there is a hologram with pronouns that pops up for a few seconds over a person's head when you talk to them
Yes!!! We’ve actually talked about this on the crew server before, how there is almost definitely a way in Talsoria to see people’s pronouns. It would depend on what kind of technology you’re using (for example, contact lenses with information overlay versus a screen built into the back of a bionic hand) but yes, that’s pretty much our headcanon too.
As for other societies, I don’t think we’ve had any characters intuitively know pronouns of characters they haven’t met before so... you probably just ask?

The Audio Verse Awards Nominee Showcase Podcast - 2020 Showcase: Station Arcadia
This is Eli Esdi, producer on Station Arcadia, which is a podcast tells stories from a dystopian world where dieselpunk, steampunk, cyberpunk and solarpunk societies all exist side by side. Woven through each stand-alone story are threads that come together to tell the story of a revolution, and hope in the face of a dying world. Also, it's queer.
Episode one, By The Wayside, takes a headfirst dive into Station Arcadia’s Cyberpunk society - Talsoria. Listen as radio host Kass does their first ever broadcast, and meet Memorie, a Talsorian teenager trying to make faer way in a fast-paced world.
