hey uh. who gave edgar those scars no reason i just wanna talktot hem. maybe. maybe punch em a little. bury them a little bit. waterboard them, perhaps.
this bastard
80s jack
not to be confused with sane Jack
sane Jack is a more mentally stable, younger Jack in a universe set in the Modern Era
80s Jack is the irredeemable sadistic bastard.
both technically the same person? yes. but would they hate each other? oh absolutely
when I refer to Jack Young or Johnny, I mean 80s Jack. when I speak of Jackson Le/Robinson-Le I mean sane Jack. they have the same core personality traits but 80s Jack's are twisted into becoming.. himself.
either way Edgar needs a hug and some therapy he is very tired
#ask#oc ramblings#oc: jack#feralcatman#doodle#doodles#i feel like that's the simplest eay of explaining it#AGAIN i am not trying to insinuate that anybody's stupid it's just a lot to unpack

Do you ever just....get overwhelmed with emotion when you think about how much of an impact Zayn has had? I mean, this kid from Bradford who grew up facing so much racism and violence became an international sensation almost overnight only to find the racism grow right along with his fame. And when he found the courage to leave (which is inspiring in itself) he didn't let the vicious slander and rumours faze him. Instead he turned that pain into art and he has since broken records and made history in so many ways. And he did it all without sacrificing his identity and trying to make himself more palatable to white people. And yeah, it sucks that he doesn't get the recognition that he deserves and I hope that someday he will but I am so inspired by him. Sorry I was listening to Tightrope again and the Urdu part got me like always! 😂
Yes to all of this, anon!

Something that I've seen among Zayn stans is how so many of them have adopted the derisive tone the media and the 1d fan base has with him. Even desi ppl do this. And the thing is, even if I could ignore the white ppl, the desis break my heart when they bash him because I'm just....here is a guy who has had to deal with so much abuse because of his cultural and religious background and despite that remains so proud. When asked about what made his fan base special, he singled out his Desi fans. Yet when he put out those Bollywood covers, he was trolled so bad that he had to take them down. And the thing is, so what of his accent isn't perfect? The fact that he's put there putting in the effort is so beautiful to me. I've even seen ppl say he's doing it to be famous which is just like...? This is a guy who barely shows his face a few times a year. If he wants to be famous (as if he isn't already) then he's not doing a very good job! Sorry, I've just really been in my feels about Zayn lately. Thats also why I asked for recommendations for desi Zayn blogs because I wanted to see that there are those that actually appreciate and support him. Ugh I don't blame Zayn for not being as active as he used to be, I can't imagine what it would be like to give so much of yourself to ppl only to be sneered at constantly
You know there is so much I do and don't agree with in what you're saying. I think that there's a line between good-natured teasing and bashing someone. There are some people that definitely fall into the later category but most of his Desi fans don't, in my opinion. Although I would argue that people that are bashing him in any way aren't fans.
I think what is truly remarkable about Zayn, and if I had to pick only one reason above the many that I am a fan of his, is that he is proud of his culture and the way he creates content for his Desi fans is so special to me. Flower on MoM, Tightrope on NIL. He also talks about watching Bollywood movies with Khai. He is connected to his culture so I very much doubt that Zayn would remove something because of a few trolls if he didn't want to remove it himself. His pronunciation isn't perfect and Desi fans may tease him for that, but it is affectionate teasing.
We all know that Zayn is a private person by nature. How active he is seems to me correlates to his mood and the necessity to be publicly witnessed. Do I wish he would come back again? Yes. But he certainly isn't the only public figure to disappear in between album cycles. I think that has more to do with him living his life than anonymous haters on the internet. He still continues to give us, his Desi fans in particular, the most vulnerable parts of himself. Just go have a listen to cathartic. He wouldn't do that if the relationship we have to him wasn't safe enough for him to let his guards down.

Book recs:
Norwegian Wood - Haruki Murakami (such a remarkable novel. One I will re-read many times I’m sure. TW contain death, suicide,& mental health issues)
The Hole - Hiroko Oyamada (a quick read that will draw you in)
The Scent Keeper - Erica Bauermeister (coming of age novel. Was hooked by the first chapter)
Atomic Habits - James Clear (self improvement book based on the idea of neuroplasticity. Informative, but is not dull)
Where the Crawdads Sing - Delia Owens (if you haven’t heard of this one idk where you have been. Read it. It’s fantastic & a sure classic)
Thank you so much for sending this in!! I have added all of these to my TBR. 🥰

any tips on how a struggling first yr applied maths student can overcome zero days/procrastination? my semester ends in less than a month and i have about 40 backlogs to work on ): i'm so overwhelmed
hi beautiful, let me start by saying that I am thinking of you and sending you positive vibes from across the internet. the semester’s end is always a stressful and packed time for students at every stage of their education, so try to take a deep breath and tell yourself that you are not alone. that said, you are talking to the queen of procrastination so some things that have worked to get me through zero days and procrastination periods:
make a list of things to get done within the week (or the next 3 days). it doesn’t need to be fancy but it needs to be manageable. instead of looking at it as 40 things, break it up into smaller groups. it can often be too intimidating to start otherwise.
priorities tasks that are more “important”. this depends on your definition of important. I always priorities stuff that counts towards my grade first.
turn your phone on do not disturb mode. this was a lifesaver for me during my honours years. mute your chats until you take breaks. turn off your notifications until you take breaks. and make sure to turn them back off once your break is over.
set yourself a daily timer of x amount of hours you want to work. pause the timer whenever you take a break. it might motivate you to see how much time you have left to commit or how much time you’ve already spent working. my university told us that we should commit around 10 hours of time a week per (15 credit) subject. divided this up in whatever way suits you.
get yourself into a studying routine. this one is particularly important in the run up to exams. make studying a daily habit. this comes from practicing studying. in terms of maths specifically, the more questions you do, the better prepared you will be.
plan your breaks effectively. when taking breaks, try not to go on social media because it’s so easy to loose track of time. instead, try to go for a walk, even just around the house. take a shower (this really helps me clear my head), drink some water & eat something nutritious, take a power nap. it’s important to use your time off to take care of yourself.
and I think the most important thing to remember is that you’re only in first year. you’re still learning what works for you. if you don’t get everything done, it’s not the end of the world. you’ll be alright and you’ll make it through. I'm wishing you the very best of luck. 💫

The generational trauma discussion is so important and I'm glad Zayn addressed it. One thing that I heard once that always stuck with is that our grandparents and our parents made sacrifices and did everything they could to survive and to teach us how to survive because that's all they could do. Now it's up to us to teach our children and grandchildren how to live. However, as you said as well, that takes a conscious effort. And I love that Zayn is making that effort with his child
I think generational trauma is a very nuanced topic. On the one hand, you have parents that did the best they could with what resources they had and it’s difficult to begrudge them for that. On the other hand, you have children (even adult children) that are traumatised and valid in their pain despite their parents best efforts. It’s taken me a long time to come to terms with that myself, that I can love my parents deeply and still hurt from the trauma that came with my upbringing. I only hope I can make the same conscious effort Zayn is making for his child with mine in the future.

In honor of the new pics I thought I'd listen to Yellow Metal again and I just...Zayn really did that didn't he? Says a lot about our media that it went completely unnoticed by the mainstream
Yeah he went off, as he should! I still think that it was a conscious decision on his part to release it on soundcloud under a pseudonym (“I ain’t dropping this for fame, I need this time, like therapy, it’s just to keep me sane.”) but it deserves so much more attention.

Inspired by @berlinini ’s great ask, how would you spend a weekend on the farm with the one & only Zayn Malik?
Oh you have opened the flood gates, my friend, because not only do I adore Z but it is my one ambition in life to own a farm someday. So I would really want to experience a typical day in the life of Zayn @ The Farm, meeting all the animals and seeing their little lake. I’d love to cook with him too. Desi food, of course, because he misses his samosas. Or cook for him with Gigi because we know girl can cook up a storm. If I could see his home studio, that would be the coolest. Maybe get a story or two about his songwriting. Perhaps even a private acoustic performance of a few of my favourite songs too?? (Now I’m just being greedy). I also want to see Zayn on a horse so I’d go horseback riding with him. At some point, I’m sure Z would light up and I’ve never been high before but if Zayn Malik offered me a blunt, I would not say no. Same thing goes for a spontaneous tattoo adventure too. I think mostly though, I’d just want to spend time talking to him while going about his usual day on the farm. He would definitely have some great stories and/or perspectives.
#icarusfallsforwalls#talktoT#in reality though i would probably malfunction at the prospect#and cry#zayn#(i’m thinking of adding an additional tag for zayn related asks)

I love your Yellow Tape review! The line about "running from my genes" made me think too. Like, the generational trauma that we as South Asians have has followed us for so long. And while I don't want to speculate on Zayn's relationship with his dad, I do know from my own experience that even second generation parents still end up passing on trauma to their own children unintentionally. I don't believe it's a dig at his dad (of whom he's always spoken about so glowingly) but rather a very important point about how that cycle of trauma follows us all and how it needs to be broken at some point
Thank you! Like I said in the review, I won’t speculate on Z’s personal relationships. That aside though, I do agree that generational trauma of immigrant families (even 2nd gen) is vicious cycle. It needs conscious effort to break it and I’m so proud of Zayn for making that effort for his little girl.

"The fact that white people don't get it is the cherry on top" lol yes exactly! Like, even if you were to look up the translation of his Urdu or Hindi songs, it still wouldn't carry the same meaning as listening to it and understanding it. This isn't even shade at anybody. Just plain facts. Even the covers he does like Allah Duhai Hai or Teri Deewani Hai, being able to understand the significance of those is such a special feeling. Or the raga in A Whole New World. I still can't believe Zayn actually did that! Seriously what did we do to deserve him? 😭
He’s a gift, that man. It’s much deeper than the language. That’s our culture he’s showcasing with such pride!! It’s a beautiful connection that we have with him. White fans simply can’t relate ✌🏽
