I really wish I could be convinced that more people would be interested in non-ship stuff for fandoms I'm in.
Look, we all know we write for ourselves. I get it. I do. But my desire (ability) to finish things is hinged on feedback. My two longest fics that I wrote the fastest were because of audience engagement. And because I knew I had people I respected and liked reading, and I wanted them to enjoy the read, I wrote better.
Now I feel like I'm just stuck in No Man's Land of fandom, and while I have like a dozen things half finished, they never seem to actually BE finished because if the audience is me, then I know how it ends. There's not much point writing it down.
So this is basically my To Do List.
The Rookie - I just don't care about what 90% of the fandom cares about
1. Series of one shots that establish Angela and Tim's BFF status that may or may not lean Tim aspec because I'm me.
2. Pre series flashbacks to Tim in his time in service when he survives an airstrike that kills two of his friends and almost kills him.
3. Trauma Tim post season 6, because in rapid succession, he loses his job on metro, he witnesses his old team die in a way eerily similar to the way he was almost killed in the airstrike, had a friend commit suicide in front of him after confessing to being dirty, gets accused of being dirty himself, and is again almost killed in close quarter combat (among other things that will remain unmentioned here)
Slow Horses
1. Do not ask me why but I love the idea that Lamb potentially met River was he was a kid because he had to work closely with David Cartwright and River is always where he's not supposed to be
2. River goes missing, and for once, not his fault. Lamb has to come to terms that just because he pretends not to care, doesn't mean anyone buys it
3. Post season 4, somebody finds out that River is the last remaining son of Frank's assassin cult, and it goes about as well as can be expected. I fully intend to have Lamb use this line: "trying to detain you is like trying to nail jello to a tree".
Magnum PI (yes, I still work on these)
1. Finish Wrong Side. I actually have like another 10-15k words on it, but it's not in order or complete scenes, but it does include Thomas’s recovery and discovery that Hannah is the one who sold them out
2. I have like 6 other chapters to Bad Things Happen that I half wrote but then retired the card
3. Crossover with MacGyver because I thought Mac could use some down time in Hawaii after season 4 and the last half of season 3
Tracker 1. Colter goes missing during one of his cases, and I borrow heavily from an episode of Lethal Weapon wherein Colter will be held hostage in an illegal drug trial that he stumbled into and now finds himself an unwilling participant, and I drag Russell into it because that is how big brothers work
Hudson & Rex - honestly, I have the most written for this fandom, even though the fandom itself is pretty quiet, but it's most of a bingo card 1. Finish Oh The Weather Outside is Frightful because damn son it's been years
2. In no particular order, I have Bad Things Happen Bingo It's Not My Blood, Stitches, Caught in a Snare, Falls Through the Ice and three others that fit other prompts - a boating accident, Charlie finally finds himself at the bottom of a well (sort of) and completes his "Timmy and Lassie Scenario" bingo card, and where Charlie realizes he's developed claustrophobia after having a mine collapse on him, being locked in a freezer storage, almost crushed by a shipping container, buried alive, etc and gets stuck in an elevator with Jesse

Brilliant Minds is growing on me. Dr. Wolf is like... breaking all the rules about not getting personally attached to his patients, and consistently proves that can be a good thing. He doesn't give up on people. He takes on every case like their problems are his problems, like every patient he meets is deeply important. Which they are - but most doctors don't treat them that way. Nobody is just a list of symptoms or a name on a chart to him. He wants to know them as people - "ask not what disease the person has, ask what sort of person the disease has."
And I am having Feelings about that John Doe in episode 2. Carol said nobody cares about him anymore, he has no identity, no family, no ability to move or communicate, and everyone thinks he's as good as dead. Wolf said no, that's my patient now. Mine. No one else in the whole world seems to care about this man, so Wolf stepped up. Someone needs to care, might as well be him.

i really love thinking about the potential of lightnings childhood. we have no idea what happened, but its up for interpretation, and i think thats great.
neglect - a common headcanon - seems to make so much sense for him. he hates help, he hates being told what to do, but also hes so lonely and in such desperate need of approval and validation that he’ll take the harshest words as long as theyre coming from someone who, at the end of the day, will give him at least one pat on the back for doing something right.
i think this, as we all know, is a major part of his character, but the idea of doc, taking this kid thats been so awfully treated his entire life - who isnt used to affection or any kind of positive attention, who hates being bossed around because he thinks he knows better and can be trusted more than other people would - and essentially finding a midway point so he can be lightnings crew chief in a way that both introduces the idea of gentle help (telling him when to pit, etc etc) and doesnt infringe on lightnings fear? hatred? of being told what to do and how to do it? its perfect. it introduces to this kid with severe abandonment issues the idea of sometimes needing or even just wanting help, and helps him change for the better without forcing him to immediately conform to the idea that oh, he HAS to need help.
lightnings previous crew chiefs are so much different than doc, because while doc takes the time to get to know lightning, to discuss ways they can work together to get around these issues he has while also being able to enforce proper rules within the sport, his crew chiefs before never did this. they didnt get to know him personally, they didnt care. they just knew he didnt listen and had a flaring temper, and it was never really that fair to lightning that they didnt give him a chance. obviously, not all blame is on them, because as much as they didnt put the effort in to find a groove that worked for their driver, he also didnt try to put this effort in (although, really, as an 18 year old with issues surrounding this job that are KNOWN it was never really his job to be the one to initiate finding a solution - hell, he probably didnt even know what the issue was.), he was ALSO the one to fire these people, so they’re both at fault for this in a way.
but, again, i love thinking about this whole childhood thing because not only is doc opening up the help that lightning was always consistently refused to the point he believed he just didnt need it - that all those times he wanted help when he was young was really just him being dramatic - but hes also opening up the option for Family that lightning never had either. doc takes all the awful morals that lightning taught himself (or that harv taught him) because he had no one to teach him the true ones, and flips them around. he becomes the father lightning never had and the guidance that no one had ever given him. god i love found family guys theyre literally father and son
also nobody imagine how silly the first time doc ever ruffles his silly ass sons hair is. lightning freezing because oh, no ones ever done that before, and doc being like ? how badly do i need to kick the shit out of your parents? that is like the most average father appreciation Ever wdym ur dad didnt do that to you at least Once.

not sure if i have talked about this before but i also really hate how gorons are treated in totk
they are one of my fav and i know they are unpopular and were always kinda slot into the "big fat stupid rock people" role, but i do think totk is one of or the worst case yet; all regions get some life threatening event (ignoring how stupid it is to put the issues you need to solve in the exact same spots as in botw with most changes being also reversible so the actual changes to the environment of the map are largely some small rocks sprinkled about) and they get .. drugs (haha)
like i dont wanna downplay anything but their problem being that they are obsessed with eating (>_>) some drugged rock that makes them mean and lazy (even if the reason is fine ... if i remember right and didnt make up that they had to dig elsewhere for food bc of death mountain losing its lava flow, the execution is my problem -like the vast majority of this game is a ok to great idea with passable to horrible execution of it) and arent even a danger to you (which i thought at first when you approach goronia the normal path and two gorons start to walk towards you if you come near saying creepy shit- i thought they are gonna attack me or lure me into a trap but again .. only to find them wanting me to pay to be let through (i think??) and all other drugged ones are largely just ... eating or lying around ........
like it would have been cool if that drugged rock stuff made them actually agressive, like the friendly easy going rock people being turned into something akin to a starved animal after eating poison bc they were at risk of starving sounds alot more .. impactful and scary (even if it would still be about food, which idk about you but the only kind of fatter npcs, even if non human, being made all about food is .. hm, aside from other possibly bad implications from this, but im trying to roll with the idea of it)
and then poor yuno being put in a stupid (stereotypical?) wrestler outfit and hes LITERALLY being mindcontrolled is so ...... ugh (again, idea is ok but- you get it) and then him being told by two CHILDREN that that obviously not zelda might not be zelda and it not only being the only time that idea is openly said until its "revealed" that hhhwhat?? it was a fake one?? in the mid battle of the "story" and he doesnt even believe it (both bc haha hes stupid and cant understand such a thing and also link not being able to tell anyone ... even his friends ....... ) is just so disrespectful, its ok not to be the smartest guy in the room (tho in totk pretty much anyone is made so much dumber for no reason...) but it being so clearly the gorons that get treated like this just annoys me so much, you know no one of the other races would be treated like that
(not to reach a little but it also plays into how koga is portrayed, like i love him to death and there are things that largely the gameplay only implies of him not being that incompetent, but hes clearly meant to be laughing material, the boss of the band of 'evil' assassins being lazy, incompetent and 'childish' is funny right?? and although i hc that the either super thin or super beefed up appearance of yiga members are just an appearance like their disguises of normal people to seem more unified and less indentifyable- that is still only a hc and then koga being the only character that is visibly fatter (aside from ... the gorons and .. king dorephan??) it puts a pebble more onto the pile of pebbles of little annoyances)
also yuno saying, post mid "story" battle, that no one actually knows anything about ganondorf aside from him being evil and it going complete ingored and never mentioned again feels like the type of thing a games does when they are critized for soemthing and instead of changing it they put a line in the game essentially saying "yeah we know but we are not gonna do aynthing about it lol" (like thinking of the line ashe from league of legends, whos design has been critized alot bc shes running around in a stupid tiny dress in the snow lands of their world, got when her dialog was updated that made her say sth like "yes im wearing a little dress in the forever winter land, deal with it lol" which perhaps was supposed to be a joke but it just feels like a "lol we know, fuck you")

Sometimes I think about how Skipper and Doc were so stubborn, that it took Doc coming back from the dead to tell each other how they actually feel.
It’s so fucking tragic because, for one, Skipper didn’t expect to see Doc in the first place. Cause, yknow, he died. This man really thought he would just have his words left unsaid but MOTHERFUCKING DOC JUST SHOWED UP ON HIS DOORSTEP JUST TO FUCK WITH HIM
They make me ill and I’m the one who made the ship

starter for anyone (cap at 1)
location: seaside sweets
Hudson needed out of the house on the weekends and Seaside Sweets was just the place he needed to go. He was standing there, scrolling through his phone and trying not to think of the guy he saw in the house when he got home the other night. He couldn't admit that it made him jealous as he was the one that broke it off with her. So, he was going to attempt to distract himself with a sweet treat. However, when he got to the front of the line, he was told that he could get a sample platter for fifty percent off as a special they were running. He looked around and the first person he made eye contact with cause him to speak, "You, me? Split a sample platter?"

Was Doc among many of the drivers who unionized back in the 60's over saftey concerns? I ripped this one from Nascar's real history since you seem to love Nascar questions
great question! but no, i dont
docs crash happened in 1954, according to both himself and smokey (in cars 1 and 3 respectively), its stated that shortly after his crash and the piston cup associations refusal to let him race again, he left everything regarding racing behind.
compared to, if im not mistaken, this union/strike having happened in 1969. theres 15 years between the two dates, and i personally believe that by this point doc was already through med school and potentially in radiator springs already - maybe not - but i know that doc wanted nothing to do with the association and probably stopped beinh updated on it as well, considering he cut smokey, lou, river, and junior off as well. i think, at the time, he looked back on that era of his life with quite a bit of disdain and really wanted to stop thinking about it.
as mentioned in the movies, ‘06 is when doc was brought back to the racing world by lightning (aka the obvious tie breaker race etc etc we all know the lore), and because of these standings, i like to believe the only thing he kept from his personal racing era, having ended in 1955 (at this point is when he believed he was healed enough to race again and was refused - he promptly left shortly after this. hc not confirmed) was pictures, memorabilia from his friends (like the jackets lou and sweet pea had made for the group, maybe his smokeys garage jacket too), and his piston cups. everything else, aside from obviously the car, was wiped clean and forcibly forgotten about.
thank you for the ask!!

In the promo for the next episode, I see that Rex is growling at Charlie’s dad. I remember that in S05E02 with his brother Jack, Rex was good with Jack even with all the tension. This probably means that things with his dad are even worse.
