A Letter from the Admin

Hello everyone,

Thank you all for your patience as we rapidly approach the release of Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans. I am aware that the FanCon is a bit behind the times, but rest assured we are still working to organize a successful online convention.

On a more personal note, I would like to apologize for my extended absence. I have unfortunately been dealing with some personal issues offline.

As soon as I possibly can, I will work to update the FanCon website, email applicants to our final round of Featured Creators, and work with our special guests to set an exact date and time frame for the Tales of Arcadia FanCon. Updates will be posted to our official social media accounts as soon as they are available.

Tales of Arcadia FanCon: Applications Open

Do you want to take an active role in the Tales of Arcadia Fan Convention? Applications for Featured Creators and Merchants are now open!

Featured Creator: This is for artists or writers who create fan content for Tales of Arcadia. If selected, Featured Creators will have their own unique space at the convention to show off their work and advertise their commissions. You can find the application link in the pinned post of @talesofarcadiafancon.

Merchant: This is for fans who produce original merchandise, such as art prints, charms, stickers, and more! If selected, Merchants will be able to advertise their shops at the convention in a space set aside for types of merchandise. You can find the application link in the pinned post of @talesofarcadiafancon​.

You may apply for as many roles as you’d like. However, if you only sell art commissions, please only apply for the Featured Creator role rather than the Merchant role. A Merchant is someone who produces physical merchandise, not just online commissions.

At this time, we are not accepting applications for Staff members. We will make an announcement if this changes in the future.

If you merely wish to attend the convention, you do not need to take any action right now. More information for attendees will be coming soon. The applications that have just opened are for creators who wish to reserve a space for their creative efforts and wares.

*Please note that although the application forms require sign-in, email addresses are NOT collected and are NOT visible to Staff. Sign-in is a security measure provided by Google to prevent multiple responses from one person.

Artist and Author applications close Jan. 31!

Round Two of applications for Featured Creators ends January 31 at 11:59 PM EST! If you missed your chance to apply during Round One, this is a second chance to get your application in. 

Why Apply?

The Featured Creator program is intended to highlight some of the talented artists and authors who create fan content for Tales of Arcadia by providing a separate space for Creators to display their existing works. Successful applicants will be provided their own “channel” to run, similar to a booth at a physical artist alley. Applicants will not be asked to produce new or exclusive content for the FanCon. 

Staff have been blown away by the incredible applications so far, and we hope to see even more before this application round closes tomorrow! Apply here!

FINAL ROUND OF APPLICATIONS: OPEN TOMORROW

Staff are pleased to announce that we will be opening our final round of applications for Artists and Authors, Round 3, on Saturday March 13th!

Round 3 will be our longest round yet, closing on Friday, April 30. After this round, we will no longer accept applications for Artists and Authors. 

Reminder that the application to sell fan merchandise at the Tales of Arcadia FanCon is still open. The Merchant application will close Friday, April 30 as well. 

Stay tuned for the application link for Round 3, which will be posted Saturday March 13.

Feature Creators Final Round Closed

The final round for Featured Creator applications are now closed. Thank you to all the talented artists and writers that applied - we truly appreciate your talent and interest in the con! Emails will be sent out shortly, so be sure to keep an eye on the blog for an update on that.

On that note, we’d like to apologize for the short delay. The staff is still very dedicated to this con and making sure it runs smoothly. Thank you all for your continued support, and we’re excited to see you this summer! More exciting updates are to come within the next couple months.

Announcements: Character Week Poll and Featured Creator Applications

As we wait for more news regarding Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans, the Staff at Tales of Arcadia FanCon are excited to announce how we will prepare going forward! 

In the Interest Survey administered late last year, the most highly requested pre-Con events were character weeks. Tales of Arcadia FanCon is dedicated to running these character weeks as soon as we have collected enough responses to this character poll!

Additionally, due to high demand, Tales of Arcadia FanCon will be opening the Featured Creator applications for the last two weeks of every month until Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans is released, beginning in January. This means that Featured Creator applications will be open from 1/17 to 1/31, 2/14 to 2/28, etc. If you missed your chance to apply as a Featured Artist or Author, this is an opportunity to still apply, but don’t hesitate! 

Remember, the Merchant application is still open - if you make prints, shirts, keychains, or any other merchandise related to Tales of Arcadia, you can submit your shop to be listed in the Merch Stalls at the FanCon! Zines are also considered acceptable merchandise.

Announcements

Thank you all for your patience! Please read this entire post for some important announcements.

The first round of applications for Featured Creators is now closed. The question poll for our cosplay panel is also now closed.

After receiving inquiries, Staff have decided to leave the Merchant application open with a new addendum: If you mod for a Tales of Arcadia-related zine, you may enter the zine as a merchandise item in the convention.

Please only enter a zine if you are a mod for that zine. Finished zines as well as zines that are currently in production are eligible, due to the subjective timeline of the convention.

Finally,

It is 2021! The anticipated year of the Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans movie!

As explained before, Tales of Arcadia FanCon expects to be scheduled a short time before the release of the movie. As soon as a release date for the movie is announced, Staff will work with our special guests to set an exact date for the FanCon and announce it here.

In the time between now and the reveal of a movie premiere date, Tales of Arcadia FanCon will continue to run short events and set up for the convention. This may include themed event weeks and opening the Featured Creator applications for further rounds.

Tales of Arcadia FanCon: Cosplay Panel Questions

I’m so excited to announce that as part of the planned events for Tales of Arcadia FanCon, we will be screening a cosplay panel recorded by the talented @aevyk-ing ! At the end of the panel, Aevyk will be answering some questions received ahead of time.

When will you announce the results of the creator applications?

Hi there! Staff are currently reviewing the applications. We anticipate the results from the first round of Creator Applications will be e-mailed to applicants on January 20. If you missed your chance to apply to be a Featured Artist or Author at the Tales of Arcadia Fan Convention, don’t panic! We will open a second round of applications soon, so stay tuned.

Artist and Author Applications: Round 2 OPEN

As previously announced, the Featured Creator application has been reopened for the final two weeks of January! This round of applications (referred to as “Round 2″) will close on January 31 at midnight EST.

If you applied to be a Featured Creator in December (”Round 1″) you do not need to apply again. Your application is currently under review and the results will be emailed to you on January 20.

Tales of Arcadia FanCon will continue to open Featured Creator applications for the final two weeks of every month until further notice. However, this is subject to cease at any time depending on any news regarding Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you take advantage of Round 2 to ensure that your application is accepted.

Featured Creator and Merchant Clarification

Hi there! Staff here at Tales of Arcadia FanCon have received some questions about the Featured Creator and Merchant programs. These applications are intended to highlight some of the talented fans in the Tales of Arcadia community by providing a space to display existing work. Applicants for either program will not be asked to design or produce new fanworks or merchandise for the Fan Convention.

For Featured Creators, successful applicants will be provided their own "channel" to display their works, including their own commission information if they choose to include it. A channel in the online Fan Convention, hosted on Discord, is a separate space that will be located within the Artist Alley section and labeled with the Creator's username or alias of choice. Staff will work with Featured Creators before the date of the FanCon to set up their channels and ensure everything is in working order and that all content displayed within the FanCon follows our guidelines.

For Merchants, successful applicants will be provided space within channels that are organized by category of merchandise (prints, stickers, apparel, etc.) to provide links to their own shop listings. The Merchant program is intended to allow Attendees with opportunities to browse and purchase fan merchandise that in turn, supports small creators. Tales of Arcadia FanCon will never ask Merchants or Featured Creators to pay any type of charge or fee.

To clarify about the policy regarding ships: Nobody will be excluded from the Tales of Arcadia FanCon or any Featured Creator/Merchant applications on the basis of that policy. It’s solely in place to help Staff moderate content that’s shared within the FanCon itself.
