Yes and no. For example, I have bits written for the end of chaos but it’s so open ended right now. I know big things (sort of) concerning Hallie and Gideon and little things about them too, but world building wise I need to make some decisions because I think I’m at the point where it’s going to start to matter and things to need to connect long term. I actually think that’s contributing to my writing/creativity paralysis for that AU.

First of all, your Harry and Ginny are SO well-written! Of course they're in my head! And the ANGST and PINING. You're killing me, but I love it!

Second of all, I would LOVE to discuss the songs in further depth with you! I'll start with my initial recs. This is long, so I'll add a cut. Please don't think I'm insane lol. My husband is gone, so I have a lot of time on my hands, and I love reading, so here we are.

Don't Think Twice - Utada Hikaru

How did I live in a kingdom of thieves And people who say things they don't really mean, really mean

Like how Tom stole Ginny's childhood and told her all kinds of lies and things he didn't mean, in order to manipulate her. Then, during the war, Voldemort/Death Eaters stole her sense of security and even CONTROL OVER HER OWN MIND?! Finally, the person sending notes is now stealing her freedom.

You're only everything I ever dreamed Ever dreamed of, ever dreamed of You must be kidding me, did you really think I could say no

Enter Harry, literally her childhood crush she always dreamed of. But he breaks up with her before DH to protect her, and how can she say no to that? And then he comes bulldozing back into her life to handle this case, and again, she cant say no because she needs him.

I really don't get what everyone else believes So why do I say things I don't really mean, really mean I'm only crying 'cause I never dreamed It'd take this long, it'd take this long

Everyone else believes that Ginny is innocent and that she needs to be protected, and she doesn't get why. At the beginning of TPFY, Harry admits to believing that she needed space, which is one of the reasons why they break up - because she is sick of people deciding what she needs. Later in the story, she lies to hide the fact that she is wounded/scared, because she doesn't want to affirm people's beliefs that she needs to be protected.

Harry and Ginny want each other, that much is clear. "Everything is just right" between them. But they're afraid to take that leap because they can't afford to be hurt by the other again. They would rather bury their feelings and "not know" than have to endure that pain again.

Kiss me once, kiss me twice, kiss me three times Cross the line Kiss me once, kiss me twice, kiss me three times Be mine

This part hasn't happened in your story yet, but GURL I love me some smut. Can't wait for them to stop being angsty (even though the angst is *chef's kiss*) and finally just jump each other.

Strawberries - Camp

This one is more of a feeling than the specific lyrics speaking to me. We can talk about how H/G can gaze into each other's eyes and read each other so easily, like they know each other's souls. But mainly, I can just picture some of the scenarios in the song. Staying up all night, Harry only realizing the time when the rising sun reflects off of Ginny's hair. Summers spent by the pond at the Burrow. I can see them getting a house out in the country that has strong bones, but maybe it's a bit of a fixer-upper, and they turn it into their home. Again, the last lyrics stick out to me though.

Be my heart, and I've got you in the end I wish I had you from the start

I can see them being so happy to finally be together, but looking back like "damn, we wasted so much time apart." But sometimes, time is necessary. H/G have needed that time to grow.

Say Yes to Heaven - Lana Del Rey

Give peace a chance Let the fear you have fall away

H/G keep calling for a truce to try to give peace a chance and stop arguing. Ginny is using this as a tactic to avoid being vulnerable, but Harry is just biding his time until she lets her fear of being vulnerable fall away. Meanwhile, he is having to let go of his own fear of being vulnerable in an attempt to get her to open up.

Also, the song starts with "I've got my eye on you," but transitions to "I've got my mind on you." Harry started out just keeping an eye on Ginny, but we have gotten to the point where she's just on his mind all the time, whether it has to do with the case or not.

If you dance, I'll dance I'll put my <green> dress on, get it on And if you fight, I'll fight It doesn't matter now, it's all gone

100% reminds me of Slughorn's party (lyrics originally say red dress, but I fixed it 😉). And H/G are always ready to argue with each other. If either one of them gets upset, they're fighting. But they tell themselves that it doesn't matter, because any relationship that they had was gone. Them being together right now is just a means to an end - Harry is off of desk duty, and Ginny gets her freedom back. Although, it is turning into more than that.

Again, you haven't written this part yet, but I can't wait to see how their reconciliation unfolds!

Fallingforyou - The 1975

Just screams Harry attempting to be open and vulnerable. He is falling for Ginny all over again, and he is hoping that she will change her mind about him.

You said, "Oh no, it's fine" I read between the lines and touched your leg again (again)

Ginny insisting that she's fine, and Harry reading her like a book in the last chapter. "She would be fine." "Ginny wasn't fine."

I'll take it one day at a time Soon you will be mine, oh, but I want you now (I want you now) When the smoke is in your eyes, you look so alive Do you fancy sitting down with me maybe 'Cause you're all I need

Harry, just waiting for Ginny to open up. He wants her now, but knows that he has to be patient if he wants to have a chance. Him asking her to sit with him and talk to try to get her to open up.

I Don't Wanna Love You Anymore - LANY

Sick of staring up at the ceiling How'd you change your mind just like that? The only way to get past this feeling Is to tell myself you're not coming back

Ginny staring at the wall, coming up with her plan to move past her feelings after Harry suddenly decided to start opening up and ask her pointed questions that she doesn't want to answer.

I don't wanna love you anymore I don't wanna love you anymore From the start, I never thought, I'd say this before But I don't wanna love you anymore

"From imaginary adventures, to school girl crushes, to something that felt a lot like a first love, Ginny was well practiced in the art of living with feelings for Harry Potter. She wasn’t so self-absorbed to think she was the only one to ever experience the cool sting of heartbreak, but she did think she was a contender for doing it the longest." AND SHE'S TIRED OF IT. She doesn't want to love him anymore, because it hurts to love him at this point.

As much as H/G want to say they don't love each other, they DO.

It's hard for me to communicate the thoughts that I hold But tonight, I'm gon' let you know Let me tell the truth Baby, let me tell the truth, yeah

Makes me think of the moment in the future where they are finally honest with each other about everything. It's going to be hard for them, but they'll finally be truthful with each other.

I don't think these require explanation lol. Ginny hates that she wants Harry still, and she hates crying. She has her nightmares at night, and I think Harry will become a source of comfort when she has them. He misses her every time they get close again and inevitably push each other away. They cant afford to get close again, because they cant endure more heartbreak. H/G constantly look for ways to maintain their distance, but they're so GOSH DARN ATTRACTED TO EACH OTHER they can't walk away no matter how hard they try!

Harry would 100% die for Ginny. Full stop. No matter what the status of their relationship is, how long they've been apart, etc., he would sacrifice himself for her. Always.

Again, they refuse to talk. When things go to shit, Harry can't be replaced for Ginny. She needs him. And Harry can't replace Ginny either. He needs her.

H/G are not the same people that they were at 16/17. Their relationship now is SO different, and they refuse to talk about the way that it was before.

ok ok ok yes YES i have to have music when i write. or i guess, not so much when i'm in the physical act of writing but music definitely helps me when i am outlining/plotting. music helps me so much when i am trying to find the right emotion and tone for a scene. that's partly why my tpfy playlist is so lonngggg. because each one of those songs helped me find something new to say or i had a feeling nad the song helped me figure out how to say it. it could have just been one line in one chapter, or it could be one lyric that inspired an entire fic (*coughs* moments passed *cough cough*)

now more so when i am actually writing i have one to five songs playing softly on repeat and they are usually on in the background just to give me a little ambiance.

and as far as song recs go. GIVE ME ALL THE SONG RECS! not only am i always on the hunt for new music. i absolutely LOVE IT when you guys send me songs because its like... the song?? made you think??? of my fic? my story? my harry and ginny?!!? that is the HIGHEST of HONORS and it honestly makes me emotional just thinking about it. these two idiots live in my head rent free and now they're living in yours too??? While sailing the seas, Kell struggles to learns the new limitations to his magic. Even though Lila teaches him how to take a punch and use the short swords, a part of him can't help but reach for that wound deep inside where his magic still bleeds.

On a mission for the crown, something goes wrong. Their crew is bleeding, wounded from the marauders - a splinter of some group who believes Rhy's lack of magical talent is an omen for a dark future. Lila might be excellent in a fight, always a whirlwind of fire and blades, but Kell has the experience. He remembers what it's like to hold his brother's injured body in his arms.

Smiling grimly, he reaches over and grabs Lila's face for a brisk kiss. He apologizes before the air around him grows thick with power.

I would tell you to look at my bookmarks on Ao3 but I'll give you some highlights (I'll keep wips out of this because I never know how to feel about recommending unfinished work):

Gone was any trace of you -- I'm pretty sure I've read this something like a billion times, I can quote it word by word

Come stay for the summer -- this is always such a light fun work to re-read, I'm a big fan of muggle hinny, I really have a soft spot for it

Altered -- the obsession I have for this one-shot, this to me is hinny in its purest form

A Weasley reunion -- some hardcore pining from Harry, and fake dating, what do you want more from life?

Time -- Harry realising he wants children, with Ginny. The specific way in which the realisation is written is something I adore

Summer rain -- this is great, what else there is to say really, it's just great

Sacred new beginnings -- I love how this somehow manages to be a retelling of sixth year despite being a muggle AU with young adults hinny

Orchards -- the author definitely has a higher opinion of the "golden trio" than I have but the way she writes dialogues between Harry and Ginny is perfect, she also does a thing I love which is to make Ginny actually funny. It's one of her main personality traits and yet it's forgotten so often, I think it happens due to some sort of unconscious bias about women not being funny (not native English speakers writers are forgiven though because being funny in a foreign language can be quite hard)

After the leaves have fallen -- this talks about what I call Harry and Ginny's never-ending argument and it's written so beautifully

Everything I am is yours -- I just noticed that on ao3 it's signed as the first chapter of two but it definitely can stand on its own and is a very well done muggle retelling of Harry and Ginny's story

take what I took and give it back to you -- a beautifully written soulmates marks au that doesn't really change Harry and Ginny's story but, as one of the comments says, seems to bring up an existing implied element of the canon one

Already here -- because Hannah's stories that I love the most (they are all great though) are wips, I'll put this one in the hopes that one day she'll decide to turn it into a multi-chapter story (@takearisk-ao3 think about it 👀)

The brilliant dance -- this is so fucking funny and entertaining while also being heartwarming. Fucked up but inevitable/obsessed with each other hinny spending their early 20s being a hot mess is my AU drug

Someone else's life -- finished reading this a few days ago, a very well developed brilliant idea
