he had a hard time believing all night that this was real and even if it wasn’t real, that he would be allowed to stay in this fantasy of his. he sat at the head table with jenny by his side and he was eating the most delicious cake that he has ever tasted in his life, but still found himself staring at the beautiful woman next to him in complete and utter awe. he was almost afraid that she would disappear at any point, reaching out to hold her hand.

“I know it sounds ridiculous, but that’s what the song says.” It wasn’t something that really kept her awake at night, but in her mind, having a debate over a song was better than having to sing for a customer. Plus she liked Lex; the younger girl reminded her a bit of herself when she was younger. “It doesn’t have to mean everyone in the world was doing it. He could just be talking about the people that live wherever the story is set.”

@takealook-fall​   /   it’s a miracle that grandpa’s old truck made it to the mall in this weather. frankly, it’s a wonder the stupid thing even runs at all, but today is a special exception. with school being cancelled, the old man thought of spoiling emily and peter by taking them to the mall — 

but emily’s phone says that the road are slick as ever, and the snow is building up to over four feet. and worse than that ... the entire mall is dark. there’s the faint glow of emergency lights in the distance, but the warm and welcoming allure of ‘open’ signs and store fronts is dead, all while the wind howls outside.

“no ... i tried texting my dad, but it won’t send —“ peter is too young for a cellphone, and grandpa doesn’t trust them. they always meet at the food court at a scheduled time, but emily’s thinking their trip should end sooner than later. she notices the anxiety etched so clearly on lex’s face, although she tries to hide it. 

“are ethan and hannah here with you today? i’m sure they’re okay ... they’ll probably be on their way to find you any minute now.”

@takealook-fall​ LIKED FOR EMILY!     /     you know, this precious time before school could be spent studying, or catching up on homework, or — anything besides running around the school and trying to avoid a senior boy. she deliberately showed up early, knowing he’s late to every class he’s enrolled in, and yet somehow, emily’s cornered. no one is in the band room, thank god, so she shuts the door behind her and pushes a puny, plastic chair in front of the handle.

with a sigh of relief, emily plops onto her ass and curls her knees up to her chest — until a muffled yet gorgeous tune reaches her ear. emily crawls across the carpeted floor on her hands and knees (it hurts like hell, but she doesn’t want to be seen) towards its source: a practice room.

She was supposed to go out and see Mamma Mia with her dad and her girlfriend, to finally get a chance for them to get along. It seemed like faith had other plans in store as she was stuck back in school through a thunderstorm, the opportunity for her dad and girlfriend to get along together being nowhere in sight.

No, she was stuck with something mythical and cryptic, her only source of sanity being another girl from her class. Alice only knew her through Debby, knowing that they often went out to smoke together.

❝ Do you think the cops are coming? ❞  she inquired, daring herself to take a look at Lex.

Did they even know how to handle a situation like this?

he was sweating up a storm but it was all in a day’s work, he had hardly realized that the day had flown by if it weren’t for lex in the front seat of his latest project, occasionally reminding him that he needed to take a break. finally stepping back from being hunched underneath the hood for what seemed to be hours, his hands would reach for the hand towel strung across his shoulder with a huff before calling out over the music. “hey, babe, could you do me a favor and get her started for a sec?”
