“i’m tellin’ ya now,” persephone replies, more sharply than she had intended. she turns away, embarrassed. now is not the time to start shit. not again, after everything.

the poet and his girl were gone. sent on their way after orpheus’ song mended the rift between hades and herself. and the world. if the fates were kind -- though they rarely are -- those two would make it all the way. have their happily-ever-after up top.

persephone herself had stopped packing for her own trip up top to search for hades. time for spring. the earth come back to life. but those seeds aren’t the only ones the goddess is worried about growing, now.

“i only found out recently myself,” she continues quietly, not ready to see the look on her husband’s face. “and we were...y’know. i didn’t know if you would want somethin’ like this with me. but you have a right to know. before i come back in six months all swelled up like a balloon. i’m pregnant.”

dude...i can’t even begin to tell you how much i admire prue??? 

LIKE FIRST OF ALL??? WERE Y’ALL AWARE THAT MERCY IS AN OC??? BECAUSE I COULDA SWORN SHE’S JUST ALWAYS EXISTED IN ALL CANONS EVER?? honestly though, prue has woven mercy into so many canons so seamlessly it’s like magic. and she’s always game for any and all weirdness that might occur because of it.

also? creating and writing an original character is fucking difficult. i know from experience. but prue is a pro. mercy is genuine. a whole person. well thought-out. and it’s obvious to anyone who even looks at her blog for like....ten seconds, that prue cares so deeply about her and wants to do right by her characterization. all the props ever to that.

and mercy? 100% eurydice’s twin. i do not take criticism.

He’d been waiting all night. Their messages back and forth had hardly been enough to sustain him. But the moment she walks in the door, he is on her. Scooping her up into his arms and spinning her around once, kissing her deeply.

“I love you, Eurydice. I’ve never loved anyone like I love you.” He tells her, setting her down gently. This was important. He had to do this right. “You know that, right?”

       orpheus sniffles and wipes his nose with the back of his hand. he lifts his gaze from to floor to look up at his momma, her coat on and her bag packed and waiting by the door. he’s trying so hard to be brave and not cry, but tears build up and blur his vision all the same.

       she’s leaving. again.

       “i don’t want you to go, momma...” he says quietly, his voice hoarse from crying. “why can’t you stay here, with me ‘n mister hermes? why d’you have to leave?”

“don’t need your help, husband,” she snarls, without looking over at him. “fuck off.”
