Eadwulf moves to the dresser, pulling out a pair of comfortable sleep pants before glancing at Caleb. None of his clothes would have fit the other well at all so it just as well to find him already in the blankets.
"No earlier than I typically wake." He spoke before he started on changing knowing full well Caleb would be watching his every movement at this point.

"It would be funnier because she would actually read it and find that there is actually information worth keeping in the library." She hummed with a soft smile as she watched him. Being able to be this close to him again did something to them that she wasn't entirely sure fit the rest of her anymore. Astrid felt like a young girl again in some aspects and it was an odd and yet exciting feeling.
Blue eyes widened at Astrid's suggestion, a slow grin spreading across his face. "Ach, you are brilliant, you know that?" He ran a hand through tousled, ginger hair, his mind already racing with the possibilities. "Beauregard would be beside herself if she found such a tome amongst her things. She would probably march right up to me, demanding answers, that grumpy scowl on her face."
And Caleb listened intently as Astrid spoke, hanging on to her every word. He was captivated by the way her eyes lit up, the way her voice seemed to dance with barely contained excitement. It was a side of her he hadn't seen in years, a glimpse of the vibrant, passionate woman he had once known.

@cupcakesmuses continued from here
Keaka waited patiently. Something about this temple didn't feel as confining as some of the others they had visited. Perhaps that was a good sign for what ever Perrin was going through but when he was back rather quickly she wondered if her gut instinct was wrong. "Yeah I could go for some food." She spoke with a small smile.
"What sort of budget do we have for the inn? I could get some quick cash if I can fence some of the jewelry I have if we need to." Her voice was lower on the second part not wanting to have too many people know about how she often made her money.

"I thank you for that.... there are thing I am not proud of in my past. I am sure some of that is probably relatable in some capacity." He offered as he thought about when they should arrive.
"I think on time this time, if we are forced to do another we can make them wait for me." He spoke looking at Legion with a small smile.
THERE WAS AN intentional flash of fang when Legion grinned. If Weylyn was a murderer, what did that make him? He squared his shoulders, bracing for the impact of the night ahead.
"I think I'm the last man on earth that's allowed to pass judgement for that kind of thing, Weylyn. Gossip and hearsay aren't going to scare me off anytime soon," Legion said. "we arriving early, on time, or fashionably late?"

Hi folks, it’s Mint.
I’m on a mini-vacation this week so I’m going to be releasing some recommendation posts for things that aren’t related to requests (easy to queue), and I’ll be back to doing regular rec posts when I get back!
THEME: TTRPGs For Palestine.
This is going to be a list of recommendations of games that you can get in the TTRPGs for Palestine Bundle. There’s plenty of games in the bundle that I’ve recommended before, so I’m going to try and focus on games I haven’t talked much about before. You can look at the bottom of this post for some of the greatest hits!
The bundle is on until June 29, so make sure to pick it up before it's too late!
LORDSWORN, by Mareensmusings.
You rode to war at the call of your God, swore yourself to Their divinity as the drums of war beat from every corner of the Pantheon. Standing beside your divinity, Their purpose so clear and noble, you felt immortal. Beside your fellow Lordsworns, you felt your victory a certainty, battle but a trivial formality.
Now They lay dead before you, Their Godblood flowing into the dirt. Already the world lurches in distress, twisting at the loss of a God, one of many to die this day. Your Captain, too, lies broken, entrusting the survivors of your Company to the you. Of the thousands who rode out, you are all that remains of your Company.
Your God is dead. You only have each other now.
LORDSWORN is a GMless TTRPG for 1-4 players of tragic, fragile stories of desperate survival and comradery at the end of the world. In LORDSWORN each player takes on the role of three soldiers who swore themselves to a (now dead) God during the Cataclysm, an apocalyptical battle that saw all the Gods of the Pantheon go to war. With their God dead and the world churning and reeling from the death of the Pantheon, you and a handful of survivors must make the trek back to the only place that makes sense anymore – Home.
LORDSWORN is a collaborative game that guides your group into the story of a company, of which each player will control 3 Lordsworns. Your characters can be chosen from a list, or drawn randomly using a deck of cards. You navigate the game over four stages: world-building, company creation, the journey home, and the epilogue. The game is designed to be tragic, even if your company makes it all the way home. The core rules are built off of Caltrop Core, which means that you will rely mostly on d4s anytime you have to roll dice, but unlike many other Caltrop Core games that I’ve seen, the system is less focused on chance and more focused on oracles. If you want a game of tragedy that focuses on the story rather than the characters, you might want to check out Lordsworn.
Lamplighter’s Festival, by ira prince.
The lamps have been there for as long as we can remember. The lamps have never been there, and only appear for tonight. The lamps are strange and new — we’re still getting used to them, making space for them in our lives. We know exactly what the lamps mean, and we’ve committed their history to heart. We’ve forgotten what the lamps mean, even if the gravity of it still hums and shimmers around them. We’re deciding what the lamps mean, weaving their purpose in more tightly every year, every season, every eclipse. Tonight, we light the lamps, and we tell our stories about them.
Lamplighter’s Festival is a map-drawing game about a nighttime festival, and the things it can illuminate about the place in which it’s celebrated. It can be played alone, or collaboratively if you like.
Lamplighter’s Festival uses the random placement of dice to draw out a location, at whatever scale you like. You use the pattern that ensues to create locations on the map called Lamp Locations, which you will elaborate on as you play. At the end of the game, you will have not only a festival, but details about the different elements that are required for it to happen properly, and possibly the cultural meanings behind the festival. If you want a game that helps you build a place and a culture around one specific event, this might be the game for you.
A Labyrinth Like Us, by z.w. garth.
The minotaur city of Ut sits in the center of an endless labyrinth. The labyrinth twists and turns, it folds and rearranges. And from its dark halls pour forth monsters, which tear and smash and destroy.
You are a minotaur in your district's Guard. You respond to the waves of beasts that wreck havoc and mayhem—repelling the danger and protecting the afflicted. You carry with you your hopes for Ut's future, and your fears for its present. Rally with your neighbors to protect one another. Carve a home in the labyrinth.
A Labyrinth Like Us is a 2-page roleplaying game in the OSR/sword dream tradition. It requires 3-5 players, including one Keeper, 2d20 and 2d6, and these rules.
This game is reminiscent of, but not a direct replication of any specific myth. You play as minotaurs in a labyrinthine city, plagued by horrors that they can only face when working together. Your minotaurs use emotions to empower special abilities, which are mainly combat-focused.
The game is only two pages, with one page introducing you to the setting, character creation, and how to play, while the other provides roll tables and advice for the Games Master in order to make the labyrinth feel dangerous and dark. If you want a game that presents you with a challenge but doesn’t overwhelm you with rules, you might want to take a look at A Labyrinth Like Us.
HYPERMALL: Unlimited Violence, by Rat Bastard Games.
Do you hate your boss? Like, REALLY hate your boss?
HYPERMALL: UNLIMITED VIOLENCE is a mission-based corpo murder TTRPG about assassinating the rich and famous. Enter the consumerist hellscape of THE HYPERMALL where death is cheap and life is cheaper. HM:UV is an unhinged gonzo meatpunk sci-fi dystopia buzzword game for financial geniuses.
You're a CONTRACTOR for SLAUGHTR™ - The Assassination App - and your job is to Murder Your Target Without Dying. You're already in debt. You can't afford unnecessary Resurrections when rent is due, and you absolutely do not have health insurance. GET TO WORK.
Become a mutated killing machine, a psychic murderer, or a cold blooded cyber criminal. Try your best to make ends meet. Die a lot. Kill cops. Get paid.
This is a game of cathartic violence, with random roll tables to help you build a unique character quickly, pulling from d66 backgrounds and meshing together rules from games like Troika and PbtA. Combat isn’t just physical in this game: you can also fight your opponents in the finacial and social spheres, allowing you to take down someone three different ways.
The really difficult part is figuring out how to kills someone permanently, since there’s a resurrection matrix inside the Hypermall that makes death kind of hard to stick. If you want to unleash your fury in increasingly creative ways, you might want to check out HYPERMALL: Unlimited Violence.
Heaven / Hell, by Joel Happyhill.
Hell, The Underworld, Hades, Yomi, no matter what you call it seems like everyone’s ended up here. No one has any memory of their life before, if such a thing even exists. But one thing rings true, none of you want to stick around.
Heaven / Hell, otherwise known as 2H, is a competitive 1 VS 1 tabletop game set in the underworld. It’s meant to recreate the systems and strategies created by traditional fighting video games, allowing you to mix and mach a number of recognizable fighting game archetypes and optional rules to play your dream fighter through the medium of pen and paper.
Heaven/Hell is more like a competitive board-game than it is a tabletop roleplaying game. Your characters will travel across a board as they do battle with each-other, with distance and positioning being crucial in developing a strategy.
One mechanic that seems to help emulate fighting games is the use of the Underdog Token, which is granted to your character whenever you take a Wound in a round of combat. This Token can be spent in the following round to reveal a new Technique or do something called Flash Parry for a second time. You use this ability to halt another player’s move in its tracks, culminating in a scene that you might see in a dramatic fight where two opponents are holding each-other off with their weapons, possibly snarling at each-other as their faces draw close.
If you want the tactical complexity of a board-game combined with the dramatic moments of high-action tv shows, you might want to check out Heaven / Hell.
Hexfall, by Titanomachy RPG.
Stratus Cay is a floating city in the Rift, a digital quantum dimension at the intersection of the smallest black hole in the multiverse and the concept of becoming. The city is made of countless islands, a hyperreal archipelago adrift in flashing interdimensional lights. An infinite smattering of lives, as varied and precious as the stars themselves.
You are a hyperpowered being who came into larger-than-life abilities because of a profound cataclysm. Heartbreak. Grief. The depths. Physical, emotional, multidimensional–something unlocked incredible power in you. People like you have many names across Stratus Cay, but the most common is “Diver,” a nickname derived from their affinity for falling through the Rift, either on dangerous jobs or just for fun.
Divers’ abilities run the gamut of even the wildest imaginations, and their extreme power and durability makes many of them reckless thrillseekers. The pay is too good and the thrills too extraordinary to turn down the opportunity to go on a dive.
Hexfall takes the tried-and-true method of hexcrawling and turns it on its side, by making your travel vertical; you’re diving from the edge of a floating island and falling into the Rift, retrieving artifacts, harvesting resources, and enjoying the thrills of free-fall. Hexfall has combat, puzzles, and mysteries for you to solve, but it also gives you space to roleplay and get to know each-other’s characters, using a token system for actions like helping out your fellow divers, and signifying when you want to role-play a narratively significant moment between you and another person.
What really stands out in this game though, is the character playbooks. Do you have wings made out of swords? Do you carry the blessing of a giant? Have you embraced the fungal form of decay and rebirth? All of these are possibilities within various playbooks of Hexfall. If you want a game about thrill-seeking and finding meaning in a world that, as fantastical as it is, still demands you work out why you want to live, you might want to try out Hexfall.
Abominations, by Elliot Davis.
They tried to tell you to stop playing God. You replied, “Who’s playing?” and spliced in another gene.
What is an Abomination?
A living amalgamation of various forms of flesh, machinery, and whatever you can stick it together with. Some slimy, some hairy, some are covered in eyes. Others are a knot of tongues and fingers. An Abomination is whatever you can imagine it to be, tossed in a blender and put back together.
ABOMINATIONS is a tactile, GM-less TTRPG for 2-6 players. Using a set of letter tiles and some 10-sided dice, you will create one-of-a-kind monsters of your own design. Then take them into the ring for a fight to the last scraps.
This is a game that feels kind of like a biological version of Robot Wars. Instead of constructing robots and pitting them against each-other, you’re creating monstrous mutating piles of flesh and throwing them in the ring. Your characters are to an extent, somewhat pre-defined: each player chooses a vowel, which represents something of your character’s personality, as well as the secret mutation only they have access to. You play using Scrabble tiles, with each letter granting access to specific mutations, from Guns for Arms, to X-Ray Vision, to a Zipper Down the Middle!
If you want a goofy game of slapstick and body horror, I recommend Abominations.
Greatest Hits
Wanderhome, by Possum Creek Games.
FIST, by Claymore.
Apocalypse Frame, by Binary Star Games.
Bump in the Dark, by Jex J Thomas.

If snippet game is still open: Hero Time, namely Kanna's first day at UA.
Kanna readjusted her tie for what must have been the 20th time. No dice, it would take an act of God to make this presentable. Was she nervous? Well, yeah. It's easy to put on a brave face when your wearing someone else's, but she has to go solo with this one. I could go Fleetfoot for the temporary confidence boost, but she'd probably think this is lame and bail.
Idly, she considered if it was too late to turn around and go back to being a Vigilante. Unfortunately, she was standing outside of the 1-A classroom, so there was no way she could do so without Nedzu noticing.
Swallowing her nervousness for now, she reached out and pulled the door open.
"Took you long enough." Their teacher (Wait, that's that Underground Hero, Erasurehead right?) already looked done with the day, and continued with her introduction. "This is Nedzu's pet project. She helped during the USJ, so he made her my problem."
How... incredibly rude. She notice he stopped talking, and took it as her queue to introduce herself. "Oh, Midoriya Kanna. Please take care of me."
"Great. Any questions?"
One of the students, the blond with the lightning bolt in his hair, raised his hand. "Hey, where's Mineta?" All the girls seemed to shudder at his name, which clued her in to who he's talking about Oh, him. If how I found him in the Flood Zone tells me anything, I should be glad he's not here.
"Due to his actions over the past week, up to and including the USJ attack, it was decided that he should be put on academic probation for the time being. Until he improves, he'll be left in General Education. She'll be replacing him."
"There are no more announcements. If none of you need anything..." He wrapped himself and a yellow sleeping bag and curled up in the corner.
With that, all the pressure in the room flowed out, and she suddenly found herself swarmed by students asking more questions than she can even keep up with. I think I would rather take my chances with Nedzu than this...

how are you color coded?
yellow coded,
yellow, a study in wildfires, honeycombs, and summer rain. everyone sees you smiling and laughing, happy in all the ways but the way that you know is true to you. everyone believes that nothing bad could happen to you, that you live life so freely that you'd never miss a beat, even if something bad DID happen to happen around or to you. but you're as miserable as the rest of them. you might be warm and gentle, when you need to be, but at the end of the day, you have long since accepted that fire is like you: best to be admired but never touched.
blue coded
blue, a study in wisdom, belief, and knowing when enough is enough. you know yourself best, but you know the way the world works even more. you've been wandering in this world a little too long, and maybe that's the problem. you're a wanderer, a vagabond, an oracle, and a prophet all the same. who are you when the curtain call drops the last encore on you? do you dance behind the scenes for a job well done or are you already planning your next show? take a breather, for a moment. enjoy what you've done, enjoy what you have, enjoy the world that you've been wandering for so long. this world is so much better when you realize that some of it is worth living for.

[Prompt List] [Guidelines] [Rolling Rules] [FAQ] [AO3 Collection]
What is Kylux Short Shorts?
Kylux Short Shorts is an event organized by @fridayincarnate and @jaynesilver to encourage the creation of fanworks featuring Armitage Hux and Kylo Ren (as well as their adjacents) from Star Wars. The focus of the event is meant to be short works - for writers, this means works under 2k in length; for artists, this means sketches and creations that took less than 200 minutes.
When is Kylux Short Shorts 2024?
Monday July 29-Sunday August 4!
How short is short?
We accept anything from drabbles and sketches up through short fics of about 2k words or creations that take under 200 minutes. Obviously, we’re not looking over your shoulder with a stopwatch, and the word limit is more of a suggestion than a hard cutoff. The length limits are intended to free you to make things that don’t have to be epic in scope or perfectly polished, not to make you feel restricted.
For an added layer of fun and chaos, you can leave it to chance and decide your wordcount/time limit by rolling the dice! See rolling guidelines for details.
How do the prompts work?
There are a total of two prompts per day of the event. While the prompts are organized into specific days, participants are free to use any prompt in any order or combination. If you tag us, we will reblog what you’ve posted to the main KyluxShortShorts account - if you have posted on AO3, please submit your work to our Collection.
Oh no! I missed the day of the prompt. Can I still post my work late?
Yep! No worries. We will continue to reblog and leave the AO3 collection open after the end of the event. Just make sure to tag @kyluxshortshorts and use the #kylux short shorts 2024 hashtag so we see it.
What is this about dice rolling?
Who doesn’t love rolling dice and consequence-free gambling? (Except for Hux, and we didn’t ask him. Kylo loves rolling dice.) The dice rolling rules are an additional challenge that you do not have to do in order to participate in the event. If you don’t wish to roll, you don’t have to - we’d simply ask that you keep your works short to stay with the general spirit of the event. Please see the rolling guidelines for further information.
Who can participate?
Anyone who wants to! Literally—although this comes with the caveat that participants or entries that violate the event guidelines will not be reblogged to the event account or added to the Archive collection.
What kind of work is allowed? Do you accept NSFW?
Kylux Short Shorts accepts fanworks of any kind and any rating provided that they are tagged or flagged (see below for tagging guidelines). In the spirit of encouraging new short works, please avoid reposts of old work, AI-generated entries, or copies of others’ work.
Is there an alternate hosting platform for the kind of NSFW artwork prohibited by tumblr community guidelines?
Post a censored or cropped version of the piece here on tumblr with a link to the external host, and ping @kyluxshortshorts so it can be reblogged to the event account!
My work wasn’t reblogged to the event account!
Oh no! There’s always a chance of things slipping through the cracks with events like these, so if this happens to you please reach out! While it’s likely that your work is in the queue, it’s also possible that it didn’t show up in the tag search, that the event account wasn’t properly pinged, or that the post or work violated the event guidelines in some way. Drop an ask with a link to your post and we’ll figure it out!
Does the event account have a tag structure that can be used for blacklisting certain content warnings or viewing specific types of work?
Fanworks reblogged to the main event account will be tagged according to the AO3 archive warnings. NSFW content is accepted. Mature works will be tagged #rating: M and explicit works will be tagged #rating: E. (See here for the distinction between M and E.) Any additional tagging or content warnings beyond those listed here are welcomed but not required.
#rating: M
#rating: E
#graphic depictions of violence
#major character death
#noncon
#underage
#creator chose not to warn
Posts are also tagged for organization purposes as either #fanart, #fanfiction, #moodboard, or #machinima (additional tags TBA if other types of work are submitted), as well as with the year of the event and the prompt used for the entry.
I have a different question!
Awesome! Send in an ask so you can get an answer! All answered questions will be tagged #faq.

WRITING UPDATE:
The second part of Everybody's Waiting For The Next Surprise is finished and will be posted 12/7/2023. If you need a refresher, here's the link: Take A Chance And Roll The Dice
I am going to finish the Smutsgiving prompts over the next day or so, and hope to have them all posted throughout the rest of this week. Only a couple left, so it shouldn't take too long.
Smutsgiving Masterlist
My upcoming WIP list includes:
Root Pearl
Liminality
Black Days (but maybe not in the way you're thinking.)
PedroStories Secret Santa fic
I should be able to write very quickly on Liminality and Black Days - and I hope that's the case because I feel so guilty about not updating them for so long.
If anyone's got anything else they'd like me to throw into the queue and work on sooner ... please let me know. OR just come say hi because i feel like I haven't talked to anyone in eight million years.
#writing#pedro pascal characters#joel miller#ezra prospect#frankie morales#tim rockford#i have so much on my plate but that's fine because it's too cold to go outside ANYWAY

Alright, I finally got a whole ass day off with no obligations!! Plus I am in a writing and drawing mood! So we're gonna work on shit!
Schedule and some updates under the cut. Read if you follow any of my fics.
Todays schedule:
Set some UB funkey orders to cast
Make a mouse mold
Maybe eat something we'll see
Work on Clone Adoption Agency chapter 6
Get chapter 2 of the Sylvanas fic up
Get the other character arts for the Sylvanas fic done
Finish the first batch of clone acrylic blind bags arts and hopefully get the proofs ordered
Start getting my sith lesbians fic edited, hopefully post the first chapter
Practice sewing some isopods for dice bags
Finish the ref sheet for my elemental OCs
Maybe work on the master post for my Warhammer fics.
Take some photos of my painted minis so y'all can see my unhinged work
Finish a few sorted fan arts and OC redesigns
And hopefully get all of this done before I have to get to sleep at 2am.
So as not to overwhelm people I may set a lot of this up to queue. That way I can get mini photos out without just flooding people who don't care. I have a lot of Warhammer and DND minis to get through. But with fics I'll post them ASAP so people can get a chance to read them.
I will also have a few polls up this week. I'm trying to put some standees, pins, and keychains in my shop and I want to see what people are more interested it. Some are Wow related, some is clone wars, a few niche anime characters who don't have any merch, and some other niche stuff. I'll have posts up for that between getting other things done.
For those of you waiting on fics, I apologize for the sudden delay. My new job took a while to settle into a comfortable schedule. But Wednesdays will probably be my consistent writing and work day from here on. So expect updates to be scattered around Thursday-Saturday.
As always with any of my work, I encourage comments and suggestions. I'm always happy to add other stuff to my queue. Please remember my ask box is always open and I am happy to chat while I work!

"Don't sell yourself short. You are rather good about improvising and going with the flow. I think once you get entuned with the weave you will have no problem altering things to fit you needs." Essek felt that once Molly knew the basics and started in on theories and how certain things effected spell work he'd accidentally start making his own spells without much thought.
Essek noticed the change in mood and set down his knitting needles. The tail was Molly's giveaway, the slight slump his whole body seemed to try and hide behind reading further into his book.
Essek placed his hands on Molly's shoulders, giving them a slight squeeze before bending down to kiss his cheek. "Comparison is the thief of joy. Don't focus on what others can do, but what you can and what you will do."
"Hmm...don't give me too much credit. I am not magical geniuses like either of you." They could burst out laughing at the thought. They could hardly manifest any dancing globules of light. They doubted that they'd be drawing alchemical sigils or solving problems like Caleb and Essek did. How they figured out how to change Veth back to her former self was baffling to them. They were absolute prodigies.
Molly could never hope to catch up. They could barely understand their blood magic, even after all these years. Without any sort of help, they'd just been doing things on their own. Caleb and Essek had each other to bounce spells off of...Molly felt a little silly from time to time even attempting to catch up. There is a bit of a droop at this thought, but they kept their head hidden behind their book, doing their best to focus.

Anonymous asked: what inspired you to write your favorite muse?
I had been writing for a while in other fandoms and I had brought up the idea of writing some of a particular fandom they told me to go for it since I always thought out headcanons I had written small things here and there on my own before writing here. It helped that everyone I write with has been so welcoming and kind as well

"I shouldn't have said that... I am sorry." Her voice was soft as she couldn't seem to meet the druid's gaze. She knew at some point something would pull her and her brother apart but Vex didn't know how she would cope with any of it, especially if she caused it herself.
"I want him happy, I want you both happy. I just worry.... with what happened if something we don't know was taken from him. What cost did he pay and if it will cause something worse to happen."
"Vex..." Keyleth didn't know what to say to that. What could she say to that? So many thoughts swirled around in her brain, and were discarded in turn.
"I don't think it's about deserve," she finally said softly. "I think it's just about want. Whatever Vax has done, whatever his reasons... I want him. And I want him to be happy. He would never forgive himself if he let something happen to you. He'd be miserable, Vex."
