[VIDEO] Musical JAMIE: The Musical "JAMIE" is Now Available to Watch Online

With the double cast of Morisaki Win and Takahashi Fuu as Jamie New, both versions of the Musical "JAMIE" have been made available to watch online.

Both versions feature Sato Ryuji as Dean Paxton.

NOTE: On the broadcast day, Yabe Masaki (the W-cast for Dean) had been a close contact of someone who had tested COVID-19 positive. During this time, Ryuji took on the role as an emergency replacement. Because of this, Ryuji performed for five consecutive performances on three consecutive days without a break.

PERSONAL HIGHLIGHT

Dean Paxton is a classmate of Jamie who bullies Jamie for being gay and for wanting to be a drag queen. However, Ryuji puts his own spin on the role, bringing to life a Dean whose confidence and popularity hides a boy who is as conflicted and insecure as the Jamie he bullies. 

Even as he watches Jamie grow into his own, Dean finds himself being pushed to the fringes, and we watch as Dean’s shields crumble, leading to the final explosive but also incredibly sweet confrontation between him and Jamie. 

Ryuji’s Dean has a subtly different relationship with Win’s Jamie and Fuu’s Jamie, and an incredible chemistry with both of them.

STORY DESCRIPTION

The Japanese version of the West End production "Everybody's Talking About Jamie", the Musical "JAMIE" follows the story of Jamie New, a 16-year-old teenager who fights against prejudice and bullying to become a drag queen.

Death Note Musical 2020 Rehearsal Preview - My thoughts

I am pleased to announce that I am happy with the new 2020 Japanese Death Note Musical Cast so far based on this preview.

Takahashi Fuu sounds a lot stronger and better than I expected, given that this is his first stage experience. However, I feel that he hasn’t done enough (yet) to develop his character’s quirk and mannerisms to the extent that Junsu and Koike did. He still looks a bit like he’s singing as himself, not the character.

While Kai Shouma sounds a bit rough at the beginning of the songs, he seems to become better as the songs continue and I LOVE that he sings some choice notes differently from other Japanese Lights (That riff he and Murai did during the final chorus in “Stalemate” seems to be inspired from Kwangho’s version in the 2015 Korean run :)) and he has a tendency to bring the songs up an octave near the end (See how he ends “Stalemate” in this video and the “Playing His Game” Music video), which sounds absolutely fantastic. However, he does have a habit of sounding like he’s biting his word at times. His facial expressions are quite good, but he should utilize his body language more. A lot of times, he’s just standing there and singing, but with no action. Special mention to the cute Kamen Rider-esque pose at the end of Stalemate, right on the beat.

Ryota Murai sounds like Urai Kenji, but without the nasally tone that he had, which is good. However, he lacks the rich lower notes and vibrato that Urai occasionally had. I feel that his voice is a bit too high (They mentioned that they had to raise the key for the title song for him) and I personally prefer thicker and deeper voices for the role, but he’s adequate. His acting is also good, but, as with Shouma, he needs to act with his body more.

From the little bit she sang in this preview, Kiryu Sakura sounds great as Misa. Her voice is clear and stronger than I expected. I always felt that Fuuka Yuzuki in the 2015 version sounded too breathy and pitchy. I also felt that they finally improved Misa’s clothing. She now wears a black shirt and red skirt (Like the Korean productions!!), which I feel is better colour contrast than the grey shirt and pink skirt she wore in the previous Japanese productions

Park Hye Na sounds fantastic, just as I expected. Her voice is just so deep and full of emotions. While her Japanese obviously sounds distinct from how a native would pronounce, I could still understand her well (Plus, it lends her a bit of an otherworldly aura befitting the character). It is fascinating to hear Foolish Love being sung in Japanese with the same inflections she used to sing it in Korean. Her range is amazing. She sounds so different here from when she sang in the Korean Frozen 2 Soundtrack.

I’m saddened that the preview didn’t include Kiyotaka Imai’s Soichiro, as he is an absolute legend in Japanese theatre. Ryuk is also conspicuously absent for some reason.

Couple notes:

The blocking for the teacher in Where is the Justice now includes clapping to wake up a student sleeping, while he didn’t do so in previous productions (The closest was Kwangho clapping to wake up a student in the Korean version)

As mentioned above, in Stalemate, Light now riffs (Hagase? Hanase? Sorry, can’t hear what he riffs clearly. Please tell me your suggestions) instead of singing along with the chorus like in previous Japanese productions (During this line, either Shouma came in early or Murai came in late). L also riffs “Agare” during this part instead of singing along with the chorus like in earlier Japanese productions (This also seems to be inspired by the Korean version where L riffs “Mag-i olla” at the same part)

The person singing the line “Furueagare” in Where is the Justice Reprise has been shifted to the first female ensemble who sings in the song rather than a second male ensemble like in previous casts.

I hope they’ll release cast recordings and video recordings just like they did the previous 2 productions.

Also, when will Kwangho or Junsu also come to Japan to perform? :((

Y'll why didn't you tell me that Haniuda Amu and Takahashi Fuu left Johnny's??? (They were some of my faves) I recently found out that they are in a group together with Okamoto Kauan and Kawaguchi Yuu (I didnt know he was in Johnny's as well according too the source below ). This spring, Takahashi Fuu graduates from High School! As such, the guys come together to celebrate ♬ The four of them will talk from their first encounter with each other, about Fuu’s new life phase (?), the replacement plan for graduation trip. Relaxingly, let’s have fun together!

Matsukura: Fuu, Congrats on your high school graduation!

Fuu: uh. Thank you.

Genta: it was in a blink of eye.

Reia: that’s right. It has been 6 years since i met Fuu. When was the first time we met (with Fuu)?

Fuu: Right after i joined Jimusho. At the nearest train station of the rehearsal place, i have the impression of Reia’s back view.

Reia: I cannot say “ah~~” in agreement because I won’t know that i was being seen from my back.

Fuu: But I don’t really remember our first face-to-face encounter? Afterall, there was so many people around in the rehearsal room

Genta: that is true. Is the same for me. My impression is just being the same batch as Fuu, that is all.

Fuu: During that period, we still have name tags on. That is so nostalgic~

Reia: When i first taught the dance move to Fuu, after seeing Fuu dance, i was like “this is bad. He is better than me!”. Fuu has breakdance experience and I am bad with dancing so I asked others to teach him instead (laugh).

Genta: hahahaha, that was mean!

Matsukura: Does Fuu has anything that you want to do after going into university?

Fuu: I want to wear same clothing everyday.

Reia: Ogyaru!! (汚ギャル term for a Gyaru (gal) that is dirty, that doesn’t shower or change their clothes.)

Fuu: is not that. I have been wearing uniform all these while. It will be good if I don’t have to choose my clothes in the morning. However, becoming an university student, I have to think about my clothes everyday.

Reia: ah~ I think it is fine to have a few pieces of the same clothes. Steve Jobs (founder of Apple company) also have several pieces of the same clothes.

Fuu: eh~~ then i shall do so too!

Genta: For me, i will choose the clothes based on my mood when i wake up.

Fuu: Generally, that is the case for most people (laugh)

Reia: Choosing clothes the day before is probably for excursion.

Matsukura: I always decide my clothes the day before. I will check the weather for the next day first.

Fuu: that is smart to check (the weather).

Reia: During Johnny World butai in 2012, i will wear my clothes for the next day to sleep!

Genta: eh!?

Reia: because everyday have to wake up real early. It takes time to choose clothes and I don’t like the cold when changing clothes so i will wear denim jeans to sleep (the butai was in winter).

Matsukura: sounds uncomfortable to sleep in.

Reia: that is true so I don’t do it anymore.

Matsukura: by the way, Fuu what is your plan for graduation trip? I did not have one.

Fuu: My close friends are going into the same university as me, so there was no plan for one. Probably will do one when we graduate from university instead.

Genta: Then just the 4 of us, let’s go and play!

Fuu: Let’s go. Definitely! (hooking pinky fingers with Genta). Who will be the organiser?

Reia： Matsuku! The most dependable one.

Matsukura: OK! Everyone, what do you want to do?

Reia: I just thought of something fun! Let’s go and play at everyone’s house sequentially. Then we will rank everyone’s house in term of hospitality level.

Fuu: that sounds fun!

Reia: we will check the underside of the shampoo bottle and see if it is slimy.

Genta: Isn’t this going to make things difficult for our mothers instead of us (laugh)

Matsukura: Then, I shall first introduce the highlight of my house. It is near the sea, we can go to the beach anytime !

Genta: Yeah!

Matsukura: Genta’s house has a pet dog, Hana-chan, it is very cute!

Fuu: That was a period when my phone screen was Hana-chan.

Genta: really !?

Fuu: You sent me a photo (of Hana-chan) in the cardboard, right?

Genta: Eh? Hana-chan cannot fit into cardboard though?

Fuu: huh? Wrong dog?

Genta: I don’t think it is Hana-chan….

Fuu: seriously…. (i’m) shocked. My house is suitable for late night.

Matsukura: Why?

Fuu: My whole family sleep late. My mum they all will not say “i am sleeping so stay quiet”

Genta: that is nice.

Fuu: but i will sleep first

Matsukura: eh? What time you sleep

Fuu: 12 midnight.

Matsukura: that is not early either.

Reia: My house has the latest game!

Fuu: ah~ that is great ♪ I want to play!

Matsukura: that is so fantastic!

Genta: Before we go to anyone’s house, we have decided (laugh). No.1 house is Reia!

Inside Of Him (Playing His Game) - Kai Shouma, Takahashi Fuu 

Really interested to see how the 2020 Japanese production of the Death Note Musical turns out. From what I have heard, I definitely like Shouma’s voice a lot better than Urai and Kakizawa, but it does sound a bit rough and untrained (Probably because he doesn’t seem to have any prior musical experience). Hopefully he’ll continue to improve over time as the rehearsals continue. I have to say, bringing it up a note from “Onaji me de mono wo miru” onwards is something I’ve never heard the other Japanese Lights do. It’ll be great if he can put his own spin on the other songs like that. 

I’m still not really impressed by Takahashi’s voice yet as it sounds a bit too monotonous to me. I definitely like his wide-eyed enthusiasm in the singing booth though, hope he’ll retain that in the actual performance. I like Ls who show enjoyment and thrill in their game of cat and mouse with Light.

Yup yup! Ternyata Fuu ada drama summer inih!! XD

Tau berita ini udah dari minggu lalu sih.. cuma masih belum yakin krn waktu mampir ke webnya, nama Fuu gak ada, walaupun poto2 offshot-nya udah beredar. hehe.

Nah, kemaren pas ke webnya lagi.. nama Fuu udah ada. Tapi belum banyak info di webnya, gw bahkan gak tau nama chara-nya Fuu siapa ^^;), klo kata temen.. Fuu jadi temen klub basketnya Aran.

Klub basket lagi yaa~ lawak lagi gak yah?! haha..

Gw udah cukup ngakak liat Yuto, Taishi, Chiba dan Shuhei di drama mereka masing2 musim ini.. klo Fuu lawak juga.... musim ini awet muda kayaknya gw, ngakak mulu! ahaha XD

Fuu bakal main sama Kishi disini, pasti dia senang~ :)

Anyway.. Kinkyori Renai Season Zero ini merupakan prequel dari movie Kinkyori Renai yang dibintangi oleh Yamashita Tomohisa yang akan rilis Oktober nanti.

Nah, season zero ini nyeritain masa2 SMA tokoh utamanya, Haruka! Yang jadi Haruka versi SMA aka Yamapi versi muda adalah Abe Aran. Ini pertama kalinya Aran jadi tokoh utama di drama! Selamat!! Bentar lagi Fuu pasti nyusul! XD

Drama ini akan tayang menggantikan SHARK 2, tanggal 19 Juli 2014, setiap Sabtu pukul 00:54-01:20 di NTV. Pagi buta seperti biasaaaa~ ;____;

Plot:

Haruka (Aran Abe), Mirei (Anna Ishibashi) and Kanata (Yuta Kishi) are high school students and they are good friends. Suddenly, Haruka’s older sister Ririko (Rika Adachi) returns to Japan. Haruka and Ririko are not blood-related. Ririko hasn't been in Japan for years and she now looks beautiful. So beautiful that people call her "goddess." Ririko approaches her younger brother who is reluctant to associate with other people.

One night, Ririko cries on her younger brother's chest. Haruka is embarrassed Ririko approaches him, Mirei has feelings for Haruka and Kanata realizes Mirei has feelings for Haruka.
