how about this...Qrow dated Taiyang early on, broke up, then dated Ozpin.

Therefore, we get BOTH our ships, and everyone is happy.

Not a Fireball shipper at all, so I've never really thought about it... but id imagine they found comfort in each other following Summer's disappearance.

As for how it ended, just a case of bad luck.
