Angor Rot stared at the conundrum troll for a while. Then he got an entertained smile on his face. “She’s safe to touch, if you’re interested.”

Dictatious sputtered out a laugh formed from nervousness, keeping his distance and even taking a step back. “Oh no, I’m quite happy where I am, thank you.” He said it like he was shocked Angor would suggest such a dumb thing.

Angor Rot’s smile quickly turned into a smirk. “I thought you liked trying new things.”

“You know what else I like?” Dictatious said while giving the stalkling a shifty glare. “Having four hands.”

Making a sound of fake disappointment, Angor turned to face his stalkling again, petting her. “Aww, do you hear that? The little conundrum is scared of you.” He said, voice that of how someone talks to their pet. The stalkling made a chirping noise, and Angor nodded somberly and “replied” to her. “I know, that’s what I told him! Who could be scared of a lovely creature such as yourself, hmm?” He gently laid his forehead against her beak and purred. “Who, indeed.” He smirked at Dictatious again as he did and said that.

Arms crossed and eyes rolling near out of his head, Dictatious fake-laughed in response. 

Still though, he did seem very comfortable with the creature, no fear to be shown… and it did seem to be behaving tamely… He’d also never expected the stalkling to calm Angor down so much in turn.

Sensing Dictatious’s uncertainty, Angor Rot sent him a more direct stare, flicking his head towards her as a gesture for him to come closer.

Dictatious frowned, but his curiosity would always get the better of him in the end, wouldn’t it?

He moved very slow and tentatively but he did ended up walking over to them.

The stalkling raised her head, eying Dictatious with much curiosity of her own, and he flinched back.

“It’s alright.” Angor Rot said to reassure him, gesturing him to come forwards again. “I assure you, she has a gentle personality.”

“It’s a stalkling! They are the opposite of gentle!” Dictatious said back.

Angor Rot didn’t even give that a reply, just kept petting her head, obviously not getting his hand ripped off, and raised an eyebrow at Dictatious.

Dictatious sighed, he was annoyed, but decided to continue forwards. He kept his eyes on the stalkling the whole time, very tense and cautious when he was within her biting range.

Angor Rot kept a careful watch too, and when Dictatious was close enough, he said, “Hold out a hand.”

Dictatious squinted at him. But at this point there was no point in going back now. He did as Angor said, and slowly extended his hand, already cringing in preparation for this to go horribly wrong.

The stalkling’s head tilted to the side, but her attention went to Angor when he made a clicking sound with his tongue that she recognized. He moved his hand next to Dictatious’s, making sure she watched as he did, and he made the sound again.

“Just be still.” Angor whispered to Dictatious, knowing he’d probably try to flinch away.

And he was of course right. When the winged troll brought her head closer, Dictatious looked so badly like he just wanted to get hundreds of miles away from her, but to Angor’s surprise, he did manage to not move.

The stalkling gave the stranger’s hand a couple of cautionary sniffs, and then immediately pressed her face against it, rubbing like a cat against his hand as she wanted to be pet.

“O-oh” Dictatious stuttered, too surprised to even be startled off. “That’s…. unexpected….”

“You see?” Angor purred, stroking the tuft of the stalkling’s neck as he admired her. “She’s not as scary as she seems. Her heart can be kind.”

The killer troll’s focus may have fully been on the stalkling, but all Dictatious’s attention had turned to him now, not taking his eyes off Angor Rot for a second. “… So it seems…” He murmured to himself.
