Rhaenyra snatched her hands back, recoiling from Lia as though scalded, her blue eyes wide and accusatory. The sight of it set Lia's nerves on edge, dread coiling like a serpent in her belly. "You knew..." It was a statement, not a question. Lia was being accused, but she could not deny that Rhaenyra had every right to be upset with her. She lowered her gaze to her lap, fidgeting nervously with the rings on her fingers; shame was not a state that suited Lia. "What difference would it have made if I had told you?"

WIP (Not) Wednesday

I have just begun my first Michael Gavey one-shot, Stressors. I am incredibly excited to write for this little nerd and his horny as hell reader gf.

Here is a snippet of the beginning:

Tap Tap Tap The gravity of the pencil hit against her open notebook. The eraser left notable trails of pink debris against the grayed out letters that had disappeared over the last hour.  Or was it a couple hours? She wasn’t sure anymore.  Several books of different medieval texts were laid open in front of her on one of the many study tables at the university library. She hadn’t even made a decision on what her final project was. The syllabus was a sharp reminder that this project would be a large portion of her grade.  If she completely failed the translation project, she’d still pass.  She was a top student in her subject at Oxford, but if she failed this . . . Where would that lead her? She ran her thumb nail over the small indentations in the number 2 pencils, bite marks indicating how truly stressed, nervous,and anxious these last weeks had been. The long phallic object let her mind wander for a moment on other things.  Tap Tap Tap “Stop that.” Michael Gavey said beside her.  Her boyfriend’s head was in his open palm, focused on reading his maths, occasionally scribbling notes in his well worn spiral notebook. He did not look up from his well disciplined concentration.  He was in a similar situation.  Should he fail or get less than a perfect score on his final project . . . well .  . . He’d still be top of the class, but only by one point.  Michael Gavey needed to be top of the class by more than one measly point.  And she . . . she needed Michael Gavey to top her as soon as possible.

Aemond let out a humourless laugh, shaking his head. “Did they? Because all I saw was a dying old man.”

Otto frowned. “It’s the sickness. You know that.”

Aemond scoffed, the muscles in his jaw flexing. “The sickness didn’t make him ignore me for the past twenty years.”

Started writing those cliché “chosen, lost princess” when I first learned English in elementary and middle school, and haven’t stopped since. They’ve only gotten more “chosen hero”-y and “lost princess”-y since then.

The fantasy genre is where I feel most comfortable, and I don’t tend to go outside of it often. Writing includes a lot of:

magic + dragons

gays! gays!! more gays!

more world building than necessary

gods that are heavily flawed, humans basically

sometimes there’s romance (not love triangles, though)

multiverse! and travel between them + timelines

found family

royalty! usually lost (someone get them out of the woods-)

diverse creatures! comes with art usually

“if an old world priestess came to the modern world and took up writing”

✦ 1: The Lost Princess of Yggdrasil

TLDR: A lost avariel princess comes back from death to avenge the near extinction of her species, against her own wishes. As she gears up for an endless war, she has to choose between martyrdom and cowardice- though it seems, not for the first life.

✦ 2: The Book Keeper

TLDR: An author finds herself entangled in the middle of the faerytales her family has been in charge of writing for centuries, and has to decide if she wants to continue the same story or change the plot.
