Oliver McDonald's Oulds uses a restricted colour palette, which enables him to look at complex scenes and thinks to himself “how can I make things simple?” A very striking artist residency he did was one in Jamaica. Where he used drawing to connect with people and break the ice. He would often show appreciation to the people by showing them his drawings and by drawing the people themselves to thank them. He was fascinated by their culture and articulation of how they moved and talked. People would sit down in front of him and asked to be drawn.

One drawing that stood out to me was a drawing of a young boy where his friends surrounded him while he drew, and were excited to see the hands, arms and face flow out of his pencil. When Oliver M.O was done the young boy wrote his name and age on the paper. This really touched me, because not only did he make a drawing, this image was a collaboration and it sparked an interaction and connection between two different human beings.

Is a freelance illustrator based in London who has made work for urban outfitters, It’s Nice That and Tafmag.

She has a unique narrative to her art that she gets inspired by mixing observational drawing with memories. By using the two, she is able to gain further insight into the meaning and purpose of her story telling. Her art is quite dream-like and I feel like it explores and reflect how our thoughts can be very abstract but she is able to string them together as a flowing story. It is almost as if all of her characters come from the same world.

She says that drawing is like writing and it's hard to see the final end. She often uses muscle memory when it comes to real-life drawing.  When she draws from real life she likes to use it as a reference to strengthen her imagination so that she can see the subject from different points of views.

She's well known for the recording Britain projects recording colour readability but just ability ends evoking emotion. For her drawing is like therapy and often likes to draw at big turning points in her life. 

She had a residency in Indonesia and looking back at her drawings she was able to remember each place and the physical act of drawing and being there. Not only does she draw what is in front of her but also reacts at the same time. She also did a residency as KNUST in Nijmegen.

She often sees drawing as writing and likes to connect words and phrases to images.
