Chapter One: Desire

The moon hung low over the land of Lunara, its silvery light casting a gentle glow on the stone walls of the manor. The manor's stone facade, weathered through the centuries yet still imposing, rose proudly against the backdrop of towering oaks.. Ivy clung to the walls, its emerald tendrils weaving an intricate pattern that added to the manor's mystery.

Taemin looked back down at the book he held in hand. The manor was exactly as it was on the page.

The entrance to the manor was grand, framed by two imposing wooden doors bound in iron. Intricate carvings of protective runes and mythical creatures adorned the doors, hinting at the magic that lay within. As Taemin stepped inside, the grandeur of the exterior gave way to the inviting warmth of the interior.

He inhaled the deep, leathery scent of the manor. He flipped the pages of his book to find the image of his desire….

Desiree..

One of the most powerful beings to exist. The only witch to become a vampire and keep her powers.

Taemin shoved the book into his bag that was slung over his shoulder. He couldn’t believe that he was here in her home. He could hear the sounds of the gala coming from down the hall, but Taemin wanted to take his time. He took a deep breath before setting off to explore his surroundings.

The grand foyer was a sight to behold, with a sweeping staircase made of polished mahogany that led to the upper floors. The banister was adorned with delicate carvings of flora and fauna, each detail meticulously crafted. Rich tapestries depict scenes of Desiree’s ancestors and their many accomplishments hang from the walls, their vibrant colors and intricate designs a testament to the family’s proud heritage.

To the right of the foyer, a set of double doors opened into the grand library. This room, with its high, vaulted ceiling, was a masterpiece of opulence and comfort. Deep sapphire blue draperies framed tall, arched windows that allowed streams of moonlight to flood the room, casting a silver glow over everything. The walls were lined with shelves filled with books—ancient tomes and scrolls, alongside more recent volumes—all hinting at the extensive knowledge and magical prowess of Desiree’s family.

Plush sofas and armchairs, upholstered in rich fabrics of emerald green and deep burgundy, were arranged around a grand fireplace. The mantelpiece was adorned with candles and curious artifacts, their origins and purposes known only to Desiree. Above the fireplace hung a grand portrait of Desiree’s mother, her serene expression and regal.

The dining hall, accessible through an arched doorway from the salon, was equally magnificent. A long, dark wood table dominated the room, surrounded by high-backed chairs with intricately carved designs. The walls were adorned with more tapestries, these depicting bountiful feasts and joyous celebrations. A grand chandelier hung from the ceiling, its crystal facets catching the light and casting a sparkling glow over the room.

The manor’s kitchen, though less grandiose, was a warm and inviting space. Copper pots and pans hung from hooks above a large, sturdy wooden table where Desiree often prepared potions and remedies. The scent of herbs and spices filled the air, mingling with the warmth from the constantly burning hearth. This was a place of creation and comfort, where magic and the mundane blended seamlessly.

Upstairs, the private quarters were no less impressive. Desiree’s chambers were a sanctuary of tranquility and elegance. The room was dominated by a grand, four-poster bed draped with deep blue and silver linens. A writing desk sat by the window, overlooking the lush gardens below, where Desiree often found inspiration for her spells and potions. The adjoining bathroom was a marvel of luxury, with a large clawfoot tub and an array of fragrant oils and soaps.

Taemin traced the glass bottles with the tips of his fingers. A surge of energy flooded through him. He stepped back out into her chambers and looked out of the window.

Beyond the manor, the gardens were a wonder of their own. Paths of cobblestone wound through beds of rare and magical plants, their vibrant blooms and unusual foliage creating a kaleidoscope of colors and textures. A small, serene pond lay at the heart of the garden, its surface reflecting the moon and stars above, adding to the ethereal beauty of the estate.

The grand ballroom was a spectacle of opulence and grandeur. The ceiling was a high, vaulted expanse, supported by carved wooden beams crafted by master artisans centuries ago. Crystal chandeliers hung low, their prisms scattered light into a million sparkling facets that illuminated the room with a soft, golden glow. The walls were lined with rich, dark mahogany paneling, adorned with antique mirrors framed in gold and silver leaf. These mirrors reflected the light and the movement in the room, adding to the illusion of infinite space.

The floor was a vast expanse of polished marble, veined with delicate patterns of gray and white that shift and shimmer with each step. Taemin approaches cautiously, his heart racing as he takes in her regal demeanor. Desiree stands alone, her expression a serene mask of composure. The room around her seems to blur into insignificance. As Taemin steps closer, he notices that the air itself seems to shimmer with an almost palpable energy, enhancing the atmosphere of enchantment and danger.

“Are you lost?” Desiree’s voice is a smooth, haunting melody that sends a shiver down Taemin’s spine. Her tone is neither warm nor cold, but carries an undertone of intrigue that immediately puts Taemin on edge.

Taemin swallows hard, gathering his courage. “No, I’m not lost. I came here to find you.”

Desiree raises an eyebrow, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. “And why would you seek me out?”

“I have never taken a blood servant. No one has ever proven themselves worthy.” Desiree began to circle Taemin. His pulse quickened at her close proximity to him.

“I know, but I beg you to please allow me to try”

“Beg? You stand in front of me and make claims to ‘beg’?”

Understanding the meaning behind her words, Taemin lowered himself to his knees. He bowed his head in reverence to her.

“Desiree Blackwood, radiant and eternal, I, Lee Taemin, stand before you not as a mere mortal, but as one who has been profoundly touched by the legend of your grace and power. I have wandered through shadows and dreams, seeking the one who embodies the very essence of what I yearn to be. I beg of you, let me be more than I am. Let me serve you not out of mere fascination, but from a deep, unshakable devotion that compels me to surrender all that I am. I offer myself, body and soul, to be your blood servant. I am prepared to sacrifice my freedom, my desires, and my very essence, for the honor of binding my life to yours.

Allow me to be the vessel through which your power flows, to stand as a testament to your eternal might. Grant me the privilege of proving my worth and dedication, that I may walk beside you, in service and in reverence. Desiree’s melodic laugh reached Taemin’s ears. He could feel the warmth creep from his neck to his face. Desiree gently titled Taemin by the chin, so that he was looking deep into her eyes.

“Ah, Taemin, how passionately you lay bare your soul before me. You come to me with such earnestness, like a kitten longing for the warmth of the fire.

But tell me, Kitty, what makes you so certain that you can endure the flame? Many have sought to bask in my light, only to find themselves burned by the very fire they desired. You speak of surrender and sacrifice, yet the path you wish to tread is filled with trials and temptations.

Your plea is enchanting, and your resolve… admirable. Perhaps, I shall grant you a taste of what could be, if you prove yourself worthy. But know this: the journey will be one of both pleasure and pain, and your commitment will be tested in ways you cannot yet fathom.

For now, let us see how well you navigate the shadows and embrace the darkness. Only then will you earn the right to be more than a mere admirer. Taemin swallowed hard and did his best to hide his nervousness. Her gaze traveled deep down to his soul and sent butterflies to his stomach.

“I hear the challenge you present, and I embrace it with all the fervor of a soul yearning for purpose. I am prepared to face any trial you deem necessary, to endure whatever tests of spirit and will you set before me. My heart is set on proving my worth to you, and I will not fail.

Guide me through these trials, Desiree, and I will prove myself worthy of the bond we could share. My spirit is resolute, and my will is steadfast. Whatever you require, I will deliver, for I seek only to be yours in the truest sense.”

6. how long have you been into kpop?

so, so long my goodness.. since 2006, when i was in the 6th grade i think? Was super big into TVXQ at the time (big heartbreak when they broke up, let me tell you). a friend from school introduced me right before they moved away and i've been stuck here ever since (i say this lovingly ofc)

7. which song introduced you to kpop?

i think... my friend played me Super Junior's "Happiness" first? but also showed me Big Bang, which must have been their earliest releases given their debut was around i believe

15. your favourite hairstyle on your bias?

oh dear.. this is tough. Gotta do all of shinee, ofc + i probably have some pretty predictable answers, but here we go:

jjong: pretty pink haired babe, and there's nothing that tops that <3

taem: nothing beats just plain black hair to me, but i also love the long hair from Sherlock era. I know he hated it sooo bad, but i didn't :')

key: that cute rainbow buzzcut <3333 yes.

onew: i also LOVE long hair on him. The rock of ages one, but especially that recent photo shoot (this one: x) had me tumbling head over heals

minho: just.. classic black <3 but i love when it's less quaffed, a bit curly? :)

19. All time favourite kpop songs?

this is too hard i question, i fear. very sorry lol. To be honest, i tend to prefer groups with b-sides that outshine their title tracks, so i'll just put the groups i prefer best: Shinee, Twice, StayC, old school TVXQ, XG, Red Velvet, Kara, and many more. I'm sorry i'm in too deep to answer this

22. your favourite concepts?

Taemin. Truly his career has what i would call an actual thesis to it, developed and thought out in a way that i haven't really seen matched elsewhere. The king of concept. He has also stayed true to his root, which i can't appreciate enough.

And i guess that fun, bubble gum pop that Twice and StayC do really well! Kpop helps me release my stress, so i'm partial to things that make me want to dance

23. your favourite choreagraphies?

For Shinee, it's Sherlock, Replay and View my beloveds. They're just so iconic to me; all of Taemin's, but special shoutout to choreo's Koharu worked on and Black Rose (cause she's so visually stunning to me); Twice Fancy (they have such good formations and they're so clean with it <3); TVXQ Mirotic; the GODLY Stay Tonight choreo from Chungha (god, she lives in my mind constantly); ..etc

I think I agree with your ranking of their dancing in terms of technicality. Obviously people have preferences for what they like to watch. I’m drawn to taemin, jimin, jhope a dancing for different reasons. Have you seen taemin X jimin dance 2016 kbs song festival showdown. It’s from some years ago but I think it’s a pretty good example of how differently trained they are. Jimin was a contemporary/modern dance student and he still dances with that training and that’s why it looks so different when he’s doing the same moves as taemin or jhope.

oh yeah definitely personal taste has to do with what you enjoy seeing and ofc jimin has different strengths bc of his background (same as kai). he's super talented that's not even a question

however hoseok can do what jimin does too which means he is more versatile. jimin struggles with street styles bc of his footwork and isolation. but hoseok doesn't struggle with contemporary and modern dance. he's just not given nearly as many opportunities to showcase that as jimin. (he was completely sidelined from any relevant black swan choreo and I will never forgive hybe for that).

of course it's subjective to personal styles and everyone has different taste so it's really a discussion of the "technical aspects" that can be used to rank these dancers whom are all VERY talented. it's like splitting hairs. when there are that many different backgrounds and styles I tend to lead myself by versatility, consistency, foot work, body lines, isolation and facial expressions. there's a really good chart that ranked the best idols according to those more technical aspects of dancing. and hobi only ranked second to taemin.

but then again I guess some dancers will tell you judging this by technical aspects defeats the purpose of the individuality and artistic expression that dancing allows 🤷🏻‍♀️

•Song That Got You Into K-Pop: Bae Bae by BigBang. I first clicked on Loser, I wasn’t feeling it completely but liked it enough to give them another chance so I clicked on Bae Bae, that one was on repeat for weeks.

(Idk... I think I might seem like an older kpop fan but I got into kpop in 2015. I’m one of those people who when getting into sth they really dig further until the origin of a thing, especially when it comes to music. So I know a lot about 1st and 2nd gen too, and I am mainly a fan of 2nd and 3rd gen bc I’m more around the same age as late 2nd gen - 3rd gen kpop idols, we grew up around the same time so I relate to them the most. For reference I am 2 years younger than Gikwang (late 2nd gen) and Yongguk (early 3rd gen), same age as Ken (early 3rd gen) and Sunmi (late 2nd gen). I heard about Kpop before 2015 ofc but i was in an industrial/obscure electronic music fase before kpop)

Kpop dance has some impressive tricks but it isn’t particularly emotional, which is what’s most important to me)

what are your most favorite written works and how do u relate to them?

Hi anon! thank you for this question. i do relate a lot to my characters and fics since they have at least some character, problem or insecurity relating to me but here are how i wrote my top fav works in no particular order:

1. Gone

This fic started with a nightmare I got...a worthless plot in my head but then soon turned into a whirlwind when i got the last dying scene as a dream again. Literally wrote this fic when I realised I was in depression, when I realised I was getting sucked into a black hole and couldn't help myself, just like Taemin. He kept getting flashbacks of his once perfect life whilst watching the current one fall apart and he could do nothing about it. No matter how much he wanted to save Y.N he couldn't; just like how I was feeling with my life back then, completely useless and worthless.

2. Sweet on You

Okay so I read this waayyyy too good taemin x kai x reader and i had to write down about baby taem. it resulted in this cute supposed to be only fluff fic but whats a fic if it doesn’t have me. so ofc i had to scar yn hahahahahaha but i was just in completely fluffy mood when i wrote this tbh

3. Love for You

i started this fic when i fell my world literally crash down after the passing away of someone close in my family and honestly it has affected this fic so much. yn is so much like me here; her intense insecurity of not being able to trust taemin, AND finally getting betrayed by him, obsessing over just one love, they are all me. everything felt worthless that time and i literally wrote it when i had feeling of darkness around me. the fic is gloomy, i was so upset at that time and yn reflects my ideals on love (pretty masochist ik)

4. Cherry Blossom

wow this was originally started as a fic about my insecurities but then i never wrote it until one day i was so angry at everyone i whipped this one out and wrote it in an hour. jinki is me at that time, different and unable to mold into the society, having your dreams ruined just because you are supposed to do this and that. back then i was so mad and frustrated at people for always telling me i cant study what i want and i wrote it out as jinki trying to find something he had always dreamed of, wanted, but could never ever get in reality just like me. and yn’s betrayal was also a reflection of how the people supporting me and had betrayed me.

5. Love

just...another period of horrible angst also i had just read the sister’s keeper and i needed a fic slightly inspired on it. not much thoughts into this fic but it was during my periods of darkness where everything felt blank and that’s how yuta feels like in the present, not knowing what to do and constantly thinking of the golden past.

6. Poison

the fic was originally written just like that but then i rewrote the whole thing when my anxiety level had shot up. i was so scared and uncertain for some things that i wanted it to reflect in him. i wanted him to wonder why was it always him who’s suffering, have things ripped out of him and have his uncertainty ruin his life just like it was doing mine. i tried showing taemin in my way as much as i could, to show the fear and how he had just changed his life due to one small incident.

7. Yours Truly

again...anxiety period. yn is stuck in a darkness, everything is a blur. numb. exactly how i feel whenever i start to write this fic. as for taemin, also in this fic, the two of them have their own twisted version of love pretty much like mine

8. Crown

just wrote this for fun....i was depressed so i wanted to write something i absolutely love...

aye!! 2018 is almost here, and i have been DYING to make a favorite songs/mvs in kpop of this year thing. it has been a fucking ride let me tell you.... first things first, just to celebrate this year and give myself some leeway, there will be 17 songs!! and they are in no particular order!! i am not a favorites person, i have too much love in my pitiful heart.... anyway, lets start!!

17. movie - btob (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42A-rFdralM) there are many things i love about this song. i got into kpop quite literally the very beginning of this year, and thats wild, but this song was one of the first of many i had heard, and didnt know much about then but love now. i specifically remember going through that one hot 100 kpop song playlist on youtube and finding this one, and instantly love it. its one of the classics of this years, and def opened my mind to a lot more.

14. fine - taeyeon (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHXUM-6a3dU) to keep this b/b/g/g pattern going, im choosing this one next and dear lord. this is another song id heard in the very beginning, and i was... frankly i was shocked. like, btob was surprising, but it was what i expected it be: boy group, fun, catchy, etc., but with taeyeon... god, her voice and the whole video... i was tearing up, not gonna lie. the lyrics especially got to me. its been in most of my playlists consistently this year, and i cant say the rest of the album isnt a must listen, just a recommendation from me personally.

ok, i had a hard time on this one. its common knowledge they went through 3 major comebacks this year, all of which were amazing, but originally, beautiful is what stuck with me. i love the heck out of that song. then dramarama dropped a little over a month ago and... lets just say thats what convinced me to finally start stanning them for real. i have a thing for story driven music videos (bonus points if the story is actually mad good), so combine that with the absolutely amazing song and choreography, and you get their best comeback yet. honestly, it was so good, i urge yall to check it out if you havent.

ok the best part about this one was... since i was a new baby fan, at the time, the only group i really like, stanned, was bts. but i wasnt shut off from the rest of the music community tho, ofc. thats what im truly into kpop for: the music. so duh, i knew about blackpink and their bops (whistle was a personal favorite of mine). but for some reason, over time, they casually just became another group i was into? like, i knew the names, voices, roles, songs, etc.. so when i heard they were having a summer comeback, while i was free from school no less, i was ecstatic. i rewatched the teaser several times, stayed up and hyped with people online. and it finally dropped and instantly became my favorite song by them. its so goooood. my wife lisa, like, yas baby slay that rap while looking cute af. i love it very much, and im sure other blinks do too.

yeahhh, im not gonna choose their most recent comeback for this one, sorry guys... its a good song, dont get me wrong but! this one is the one lmao. its so fucking beautiful. when i watched the mv for the first time, i was in awe cause the choreo was so good, and so different from what i had seen before, but it went with the song so well. its a very good listen.

yes. yes. yes. this song??? yes. oh my god. so, this next bit is gonna be a bit sad (to read and to write), but just because an explanation is needed for each of these... im a shawol. i was the second i watched 1 of 1. and god, it still hurts so much to think of what happened? but, this explanation is taemin. so, i was into shinee, period. i knew taemin was a solo artist. i dont know why i wasnt paying close attention to it, but one day move just like, dropped. out of nowhere. and i went ‘where tf...?’ and watched it and OH MY GOD. i cant convey on here well enough, but bitch, i rewatched that shit repeatedly. the song was constantly replayed, and it finally pushed me to take the step and go back and listen to all his other stuff (which i love). its just so... androgynous and he dont give a flying fuck how he looks, dances, or sounds, and i adore it. definitely another THAT song of this year, dear lord.

THAT IS AN AMAZING SONG AND IM STILL SO PROUD OF BOTH OF THEM. but bitch, this had dropped sometime whenever, idk when since i dont stan and her, and i saw it on youtube and thought ‘shes the suga girl, i wonder if thisll be good’. i was so surprised when i listened to it. the music video?? snatched. the song?? snatched. wig?? bitch its gone. lets just say, first listen, i had already loved it way more than the song i originally knew her by.

i put this one off long enough too. and this is obviously a very split opinion. they also dropped night rather than day which i am also 100% over the moon for. but god, i love sexy exid. and that is exactly what this comeback was. sexy, powerful, and aesthetically catchy as hell. (btw, exid is another group i actually stan, so i had been anticipating this one; i watched it while i was at school dusbgukg). so sad solji couldnt physically make it this comeback, but she was in the album, and that was enough for us. still wishing her the best recovery!

oh kard. the group that had millions of fans before they even debuted... they gave us many tasty treats this year, all of which were total bops, but dont recall... bruh, its just stuck with me. i still know all the others, but when i think kard i immdiately think the of the legendary beat drop tied with the beautiful mv of dont recall. also another THAT song, no doubt. sorry i dont have much for this one, i dont know much about kard, but this song has personally been a go to of mine for the past many months.

lmao, you will not catch me in a 10 mile radius even THINKING about power. i drink to forget. its cute and all but... mmmm.... ANYWAY. im gonna be totally honest, i really love their 2016 year in terms of music more than i did this one (lotto, lucky one, monster, etc., etc., etc.,) BUT! out of the comebacks they had this year, i am 100% 10x more into ko ko bop. not gonna lie, i didnt dig it at first listen. but a little later, i tried it again and... hooo boy, what a good song. i dont know anything knowledge based about music or music production, but i know that ko ko bop is a good song. very good.

OK! so... yall gonna hate me, but i intentionally put off listening to this for the longest time. why?? i have no clue, its a great song. but i did. so by the time mama 2017 (IK THAT LATE) came around and i found out my boy taemin would be doing a collab stage with sunmi i was like... ‘ok i need to know who this girl is...’ i FINALLY sat my butt down and watched it and BITCH. okokokok, scroll back up, skim that taemin one, and imagine all those feelings, except like, gay. like, instead of thinking it was inspiring, i was just thirsting and being absolutely in love because holy shit everything about the song and the video are perfect????? THE LYRICS THOUGH TOO??? absolute women power i was 100% there for jesus christ. 왜 예쁜 날 두고 가시나~ 2. snow - zion.t (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiGSDywrX1Y) this song made me cry :( straight up, when i first watched it, i cried so much. it got even worse the second go round when i knew the lyrics. its so.... beautiful. im a big fan of zion.t as well, so this was no disappoint for me. i luv it... and fun fact, its my favorite music video ever, kpop or not. im very into cinematography and photography so it was such a treat to watch it. youd have to watch it for yourself to know what i was talking about.

yall honest to god probably hate me. ‘we just read this whole list to get a biased, lazy ass answer?!?!’ but hear me out... lmao thats all i got. bts is my ult group, but ult group or not, every single thing they dropped this year was spectacular. truly honest to god, its probably been their best year yet. jk, idk about that, 2015 and 2016 were pretty good. BUT STILL. spring day, not today, dna (lots of ayes), ALL OF IT SO FUCKING GOOD. gosh, i love them...

well, thats all of them! keep in mind, this is a personal opinion thing, and there many, many, MANY songs of this year i loved, but this is a list and its gotta end somewhere, so i chose the ones that really stood out to ME. this was probably a waste of time, and bet this gets no notes, but in my heart, it was worth it. i love writing and ranting out my thoughts. this was my first year in kpop, and while yes, there were a few devastating and heart breaking moments that im still not fine about, it was good. my friends are gonna hate me, but this is just one of many years to come of me being into this shit. hope next year delivers as good as this one did. happy new years kpop fans!
