Happy 27th Birthday, Jungkook.

Before the highly anticipated Are You Sure Sapporo episodes begin I wanted to take the opportunity to mention a few thoughts about the series so far.

In the beginning, they told us we'd see the fun, the not so fun and the chemistry between Jimin and Jungkook. The "real" them. I think they've delivered that so far.

They didn't have to leave in anything about Jimin's stomach issues. They didn't have to leave in anything that implied Jungkook wasn't sure what the shows would be about in those first moments of the series. For the first two U.S. episodes, there was enough footage that they could have edited together a couple of nice 30 minute episodes that showed them eating, drinking, kayaking, enjoying a yacht ride.

But they included the moments when Jungkook was sort of questioning the purpose of it all. They included the very real moments of Jimin not feeling well at all.

In the three Jeju episodes, they included the extra dynamic of Taehyung. By then, Jungkook was fully invested in the show being his and Jimin's. From the uncertainty of Tae's arrival and what to think of it to the final "glad he was with us" we got to see the three being real.

They were messy, sloppy, sleepy, distracted, and perfectly themselves.

There were a few moments when Jimin and Jungkook's natural flow seemed to catch Tae off guard. The things we saw were meant for us to see. The good, the bad and the ugly. Were there things actually edited out that we'll never see? Or maybe we'll see in one of the behind episodes? Possibly.

Did they roll with it and keep moving? Of course they did.

And now we are anticipating the first of the Sapporo episodes. I feel like we'll be very emotional by the last episode, not only because we've looked forward to this project for so long and hate to see it end but because we know what happens next.

These days they spent in Japan were mere days before they enlisted. They were facing their own "unknown." We know it had to be heavy on their minds. I don't want to try to predict what they'll talk about. I am not going to expect them to talk about anything specific. I just want to enjoy these next few episodes knowing they are together right now, Jimin wishing Jungkook a happy birthday, probably taking pics of him, and knowing they have ALL of these wonderful memories to share between them when they have those challenging days and knowing that they knew they'd chosen the right thing for themselves in enlisting together.

He developed a love for songwriting in high school, using his free time to write down any lyrics he had in mind. As well as songwriting, he joined a dance team outside of school, becoming the third best dancer in the seven-membered team. After winning a writing competition in school with some of his lyrics, he decided to become a professional songwriter and idol and auditioned for JYP Entertainment in 2016. He was accepted, and traveled to South Korea to train for two years before going on the survival show Stray Kids, winning a spot on the debut team and debuting in Stray Kids in 2018.

However, in 2019, only two months after the departure of Woojin, Keito also left both Stray Kids and JYP, citing that he did not like the direction they were going at the time. He disappeared from the public eye for six months, causing many fans to speculate where he was during that time. It was revealed that he had been on Twitch streaming himself playing video games. 

Keito later surprised his fans in January of 2021, announcing that he had signed with STARBORN CREATIVE back in 2020 and would be debuting again soon. Following the departure from WANDERLUST of member Peter in May, he was added to the lineup.

Throughout his childhood, he was primarily raised by his paternal grandparents as his mother was kicked out of her home when she was pregnant with him. His parents were gone most of the time, working hard to finish their studies, and after graduating, spent most of their time working instead of raising him. As Donghyeon grew, it was obvious that he had a thing for music, courtesy of his grandparents. They made sure that he could develop his dancing abilities more, paying a private tutor to teach him and later encouraging him to audition for KQ Entertainment when he was sixteen years old. He passed the audition and trained there for three years, even training with the pre debut group that had then been known as KQ Fellaz. However, in May of 2018, he suddenly left both the group and the company, instead signing with STARBORN CREATIVE. This sparked rumors and speculation among fans, which were never addressed. Donghyeon went on to train for a few more months before debuting in WANDERLUST.

Bangtan Baby: Happy Birthday!

April 27th - Bora’s first birthday.

Being Korean, it was expected of them to do the traditional Dojanchi celebration so Bora could pick her future. They planned something small with both sets of grandparents and close family, with the traditional hanboks, seaweed soup and rice cakes. They had laid a book, money, food, thread, a BTS album and a paintbrush before her - Grace knew what Seokjin wanted Bora to go for, she personally wanted her daughter to go for the book. 

Of course, because of whose daughter she was, she had one hand on the BTS album and one hand on the food. 

But for her actual birthday, they had planned a party at HYBE so everyone could celebrate her birthday. Of course, it meant nearly everyone and anyone had been invited, including Bang PD, CL, IU, Tomorrow by Together, and so many more. And being Grace, it gave her the perfect excuse to go all out for her daughter’s birthday. 

It took four months of planning but the top floor of HYBE had been transformed into a nursery rhyme world. There was a large cake decorated with vintage images of the cow jumping over the moon, Humpty Dumpty and the like. The decor consisted of vintage inspired jars of fresh flowers, with themed elements added to the table like a mini Humpty Dumpty sat on the edge of the vase and there was a little grandfather clock with a cat on it. 

The ceiling was covered in pastel materials with stars hanging down and paper lanterns as well. On one wall, there was a large backdrop in white with Bora’s name in purple, small and large nursery rhyme figures around it with balloons tied together to look like clouds with stars hanging down. 

The event company had done an amazing job, including the caterers who had gone above and beyond to create food around the theme. 

The birthday girl in question was having a great time having people carry her around to look at everything. She was dressed in a light purple dress with fairy rings - her request. 

“She’s having fun,” Hobi laughed as he snacked on one of the themed biscuits as he sat with the rest of BTS, minus Jungkook who had the birthday girl sat in his lap as the rest of the children sat around the lady dressed as Mother Goose to tell nursery rhymes. “And I think Jungkook is enjoying himself as well.”

Yoongi snorted, taking a seat next to Namjoon who was videoing the youngest members of the group. “That’s because he’s a big kid at heart. Plus he’s been talking non-stop about this.”

Jimin and Taehyung had wandered over to join the maknae, causing Bora to abandon her post and sit in Jimin’s lap. Jungkook pouted and frowned, causing Taehyung to grin and give him a slight nudge. 

“That’s because he’s Bora’s brother in everything but blood,” Namjoon noted and took a quick glance at the parents who had chosen this moment to join them at the table. “You guys look knackered.”

“You know, it’s one thing talking to celebrities in a formal setting because you’ve slept in that morning and you’ve had to do nothing other than let stylists make you up and sip champagne,” Jin started and held up his vintage tea cup. “This time I’m the parent who has been up all night with his one year old and I’m having coffee.”

Grace hid her grin and reached over, patting Jin on the shoulder. “At least you got an hour’s nap in until she had a poo explosion on your lap.”

“And where were you?” Yoongi asked, arching an eyebrow at the female member who matched his expression. “I was here, dealing with the party since 7am, thank you very much. Plus, I dealt with the aftermath of the explosion since I got home in time. What were you doing? Sleeping?”

Yoongi glanced away, saying nothing, making Namjoon and Hobi laugh.

“Yeah, thought so,” Grace rolled her eyes but she was smiling, glancing over to the four youngest. “At least they're enjoying themselves. Good thing we’re only doing this every milestone birthday.”

“Won’t be long till she’s 5,” Namjoon commented causing those at the table to stare at him. “Sorry.”

“Can I enjoy my daughter being one please before you ruin it with the fact she’s going to be five soon and then a teenager? I already found a grey hair this morning,” Jin commented, turning his head to Yoongi who wrinkled his nose at him. 

“I’m surprised you haven’t turned grey already. You’ve been dealing with Jungkook since forever,” Yoongi remarked then found his hands full when said boy decided to sit on him.

“Ah that’s what you get,” Jin grinned as he took back his daughter from Taehyung as the rest joined them. “Have fun?”

“I never knew about Tom Thumb,” Taehyung suddenly exclaimed. “Why did no one tell me about that one?”

“Because your not a baby and don’t need nursery rhymes?” Hobi asked, nudging at Jungkook to get off Yoongi but losing the battle against the muscle bunny.

“But I will one day when it’s my turn. How am I meant to know what nursery rhymes to tell my kids?”

“Oh god can we not go down the road of everyone else having kids,” Grace groaned as she covered her eyes. “I can just about handle you lot and my own.”

“Hey!” came a collective cry from everyone including her partner, her daughter silent on this one.

INTRO, SEOKJIN: “Some moments become more vivid with the passage of time. Yesterday’s many encounters and goodbyes existed for this moment. Every alley and crossroad I walked through were all meant to lead me to this very place. That kind of moment is what I mean.”

KIM SEOKJIN ; 11th July

As the video pans from the skies, it leads us to the passing of a train as Seokjin awaits behind the railroad stop sign.

The departure presents a lone girl on the other side. The rails lift, and the girl hurries across as Seokjin watches her with peaked interest.

She drops a red notebook as she leaves in her haste. Seokjin picks it up, skimming through the pages, and a train passes by once more.

PARK HOSEONG ; 27th June

Clad in a casual outfit, Hoseong steps outside of his home with a bowl of cat food. A pair of friends pass by, quickening their pace when they see him.

Arriving by a pole, Hoseong comes to a stop. A girl is squatting in his place, feeding the stray cat biscuits as she pets him.

More individuals pass the scene, and Hoseong watches with vague emotion as they avoid her. He settles his bowl a few feet away. The cat approaches, but Hoseong’s eyes remain on the girl who stands up and leaves.

JEON JEONGGUK ; 14th June

The backdrop of a hospital’s hallways present us with Jeongguk. He’s in a wheelchair, pushing his way through the halls, faster, faster, until he halts.

A girl ( another patient ) with an IV stand holds her hand out in front of Jeongguk. He tilts his head, and the girl moves her hand in the angle of an invitation for a handshake. Jeongguk accepts her hand.

MIN YUNKI ; 25th May

Settled in a seat in front of his piano, Yunki lifts a cigarette to his lips. He reaches for the lighter, but is intercepted by the girl with him, who takes it away.

She scribbles Yunki’s initials on the lighter, keeping it and moving to her seat on the floor a few feet away where her guitar lays. Yunki watches after her, and soon, she lifts a yellow lollipop.

KIM NAMJUN ; 5th June

Namjun pops the same yellow lollipop into his mouth, standing towards the side of a bridge where he watches a girl hand out posters.

After accidentally dropping them, Namjun joins her in collecting the sheets and her water bottle, handing it to her as she thanks him and leaves.

Namjun continues to watch her as she leaves, and she turns her head once to glance back at him, before leaving the bridge and Namjun alone.

KIM TAEHYUNG ; 18th June

As he quietly devours a cup of newly bought ramyeon in a 7-eleven store, Taehyung catches a girl attempting to steal goods in her bag.

By intercepting, he takes her bag and heads to the cashier where he pays for everything she was planning on stealing. The girl heads outside as she waits for him.

After paying for everything, Taehyung makes his way outside to where the girl is standing. She forcefully takes the bag from him and departs as he watches after her.

JIMIN & HOSEOK ; 31st May

Within the confines of a studio, Jimin is sat recording Hoseok as he practices his dancing. The duo are interrupted by a girl who brings along a cake for Hoseok as it’s his birthday.

Jimin, on his phone, quietly zooms into the girl’s face on his camera until she turns and he pretends to be busy. She calls him over.

The blinds are drawn shut, and Hoseok holds the cake that burns with a singular candle, but the scene ends up transitioning to Hoseok’s past that day when his mother left him.

SEOKJIN: “The sound of cicadas that chirred like showers end in an instant. In the abrupt silence, I realise life’s immense beauty. Just the fact that you are in it makes all the difference. Even if this were a dream, this is where I choose to be.”

The passing of a train leads us back to Taehyung and the girl he had met previously. They’re sat by the tracks as Taehyung looks to the sky, and the scene switches to the past.

Kim Namjun smiles as he shakes Taehyung awake, and another scene shows him spraying graffiti on the walls of an abandoned pool, asking Namjun’s opinion.

We then return to the present where Taehyung smiles fondly. He looks at the girl, and the duo move to settle a phone on top of a water bottle. Taehyung whacks something with a makeshift club.

The doors to a bus fly open, allowing the girl from the bridge and Kim Namjun to step through. Namjun plays with a hair tie between his fingers, moving to sit towards the back. He watches the girl, and then the streets as they pass quietly.

On a bench outside, Jeongguk sits with his earphones plugged in, drawing. The girl is sat with him too, eyeing something off frame before she unplugs one of Jeongguk’s earphones.

Jeongguk halts his drawing at the familiar sound. A girl is playing the guitar for patients a few feet away. The scene retracts to a memory of the past, where Jeongguk sits beside Yunki who plays the piano passionately.

Jeongguk and the girl slowly move towards the sounds of the guitar, where Jeongguk then notices Yunki’s lighter with his initials scribbled on, attached to the tuner.

Returning to the present, Hoseok’s eyes open. The scene displays Hoseok and his girl practicing a dance routine, something which Jimin records from his seat on the floor.

Sat upon opposite sides of the picnic table, Hoseong watches a larvae that finds its home on a piece of bread, chin resting atop his arm. His girl watches too, and pulls out a camera where the flash transitions us into the past once more.

Seokjin moves the camera from his face, a smile on his lips. Hoseong complains as the butterfly he was attempting to catch departs, but Yunki joins the duo and grabs the camera off of Seokjin.

Pushing him forward, Seokjin gently collides into Hoseong. He turns and wraps an arm around Hoseong’s shoulders, and the duo pose for the camera. Yunki takes a picture.

In the present, Hoseong’s girl slides across the polaroid she took of him. Hoseong picks it up, analysing it, and then uses it to place the larvae into a plastic jar.

Taehyung walks along the train tracks, carrying with him a pace that his girl struggles to maintain, jogging to catch up to him. Taehyung turns his head, causing the girl to halt in her tracks until Taehyung continues to strive forward.

Upon closing the red notebook, Seokjin holds various outfits in front of him in the mirror. He settles on a grey sweater, eyeing the fallen vase, and then himself.

He changes into a suit, and then leaves.

Within his apartment, Yunki plops down onto his couch, lollipop between his lips. He checks his phone before dropping it onto the floor, grabbing his cigarette packet. He chuckles, and discards it.

Seconds later, his phone begins to ring. Yunki falls onto the floor, grabbing ahold of his phone.

SEOKJIN: “Why is it that the happiest of moments usher in sudden fear? Looking back, I had known all along that underneath the glittering world before my eyes lay my deception, that everything was to collapse with a breadth of wind. I turned away, sidestepped, simply closed my eyes. Afraid I was, afraid to be loved for who I am.”

Seokjin drives with a smile breaching his lips. A polaroid of himself and the boys hang upon the support of his rear view. Hoseong reaches out to close his bedroom window, looking exhausted.

Yunki climbs up a bunch of stairs, seemingly a little emotionally drained. Seokjin continues driving.

Taehyung is vandalising a bus stand. Hoseok and his girl practice dancing, paralleling a lone Jimin who practices his dancing by himself. Seokjin continues driving.

A blinding set of lights bring us back to Taehyung. He quickly urges his girl to run as the cops approach. Namjun gains enough courage to move to the seat beside his girl on the bus whilst she’s asleep, playing with the hair tie once more.

Jeongguk, now finally able to walk, makes his way down a set of stairs with a bouquet of hand-picked flowers. Seokjin’s expression begins to grow grim as he drives.

Namjun ends up leaving the hair tie on top of his girl’s bag pack, stepping off of the bus. At a 7-eleven store, Hoseong’s girl grabs his wrist as he attempts to pick out some painkillers.

Namjun is standing in front of the bus stand that Taehyung vandalised, his graffiti clear in the day light. Seokjin’s brows furrow. Namjun walks away from the stand.

Hoseong ignores his girl completely, heading to the cash register. Seokjin turns away and the beginnings of every relationship begin to collapse.

Jimin and Hoseok’s girl collide hard. Yunki lashes out over his music. Taehyung and his girl attempt to avoid the cops. Jeongguk is making his way to his girl’s room.

Yunki shoves his papers away. Jimin anxiously washes the blood from his injury. Taehyung and his girl hide in a little alleyway. Namjun passes by a bridge. Yunki crosses the road, and his girl approaches him, but he lashes out further and tells her to leave.

Hoseok is carrying his girl in the rain, attempting to take her to the hospital after she passed out from the collision with Jimin. Seokjin shakes his head as he drives. Taehyung attempts to comfort his girl. Hoseong’s girl pleads with him, but he closes his eyes shut, holding his hands to his ears, trying to calm his breathing.

An umbrella opens, showcasing a drenched Jimin. Taehyung steps out of his hiding place, surrendering himself for his girl’s safety. Jeongguk reaches his girl’s room to see it empty. Hoseong finally opens his eyes to see his girl leave hand-in-hand with her father, looking back at him.

Finally, the scene settles on Seokjin getting out of his car, approaching a truck to take the bouquet of flowers he ordered. The truck then attempts to leave as Seokjin sees his girl on the other side of the road. He waves to her, and she smiles, quickly trying to cross to the other side.

The honking of the truck sounds, and Seokjin’s girl is then hit by the vehicle. Seokjin is rendered distraught.

SEOKJIN: “If we could turn back the clock, where should we go back to? Once we reach that place, can all our mistakes and errors be undone? Will happiness be ours to stay?”

KIM SEOKJIN ; 30th August

Before the glass vase falls, Seokjin reaches out to grab it. He sets it back in place, looking at himself in the mirror.

He takes his grey sweater off, leaving him in a striped shirt, and then he places a black cap on his head. He leaves his home like this.

SEOKJIN: “Though many seasons pass, there are places that cannot be reached. Yet another storm to be faced and to be weathered head-on. Loving without fear, hesitating and parting, merely living as the person I am.”

love, at the tender age of fourteen, the universe saw me having a hard time, that's why they gave me an angel in the forms of you. i loved you the very first time i saw you, i couldn't even remember if it was because of your smile, or the sound of your voice, or is it your beauty? perhaps because you're funny? i couldn't remember but one thing is sure, you were the easiest person to love. it's so easy to fall for you– it was so easy to the extent of me carving your name in my heart, and in my bones, and in my soul.

love, at the age of sweet sixteen, where teens like me would forget anything and everything about our responsibility– inevitably, to enjoy life and i did exactly that and those responsibilities included you– although loving you were never a responsibility to me. love, at the age of sixteen, the universe decided to gave me one of their hardest obstacle. the universe is probably punishing me for my negligence to a lot of things and there you were, in my gallery– with a smile adorning your pretty face and an open arms, waiting for me to listen to you again. love, at the age of sixteen, the universe punished me but you were there for me.

love, at the age of nineteen, the universe saw me happy and so she thought, "this couldn't be" and decided hell is what i deserved. and maybe i do, deserved hell, but the universe completely forgot that they gave me you, my heaven in this dirty world called earth. my constant reminder that life isn't that hard living because a person named taehyung exists.

love, the universe is unfair but i will forever thank her for giving me comfort, love and serenity in you. taehyung, love, you are my most beautiful someone and i will do anything in my power to love and protect you. i want you to always remember that there are only three constant things in this world: the wind will blow, the sun will rise and i will forever love you.
