248, Bd Sour Jdid. Place du jardin public. Ancienne médina. Casablanca. Morocco
It is known that not a single frame of the cult film “Casablanca” was filmed in Morocco. Rick’s Café was based on improvised hotel sets in Tangier. For years, numerous tourists who were fans of the film were constantly trying to find something similar in Casablanca. And in 2004, “Rick’s Cafe Casablanca” was opened in Casablanca, which positions itself as a restaurant-piano-bar in the style of the Hollywood masterpiece of the 40s “Casablanca”. For the legendary Rick's Café, local authorities provided a traditional Moroccan riad - a grandiose mansion with a central courtyard, built in 1930 on the outskirts of the Medina. The street façade of the building is decorated with heavy wooden doors, like in the film, oriented towards the port and the Atlantic Ocean. Rick's Cafe is filled with decorative elements representing the Moroccan craft industry. Fireplaces made of carved marble, colored Moroccan “tadelakt” plaster, traditional Moorish architecture terracotta tiles “zullage” on the walls and floors and of course textiles, tableware and handmade lamps. Intricate antique brass floor and table lamps with intricately carved metal shades create fabulous lighting effects in the room. Each table of the establishment is decorated with luxurious lamps with copper shades and beaded fringe, specially designed for this project and which have become a symbol of the cafe. The cafe is located at 248 Bd Sour Jdid. Place du jardin public. Ancienne medina. Casablanca. 🇲🇦

Zagora
Anciennement lieu d'échange des caravanes à la porte du désert, c'est une ville moyenne dynamique et sympa.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media

The Gospel According to Berkeley
Mary: What? More visitors?
Professor: Greetings Joseph and Miriam from Nazareth. The Star of Bethlehem and GPS showed us the way to your door. Allow us to introduce ourselves: we are three wise men from the West.
Kelcy: Okay, um, three wise persons.
Professor: Of course. May we enter?
Wordle: Love the decor. Very earthy.
Kelcy: Yes, so sustainable.
Professor: Oh, yes, what are these walls? Tadelakt?
Mary: I'm sorry but it's really late. I just had a baby.
Joseph: Yeah, and we we already had a visit from the three wise men from the East. they just left, so maybe it's not a good time.
Professor: With all due respect to these Eastern "wise men," we're from Berkeley.
Joseph: Okay. Anyway, they give us their blessing and they told us that our newborn son will be the King of the Jews.
Professor: The Jews? King of the Jews? What, what do you mean Jews?
Wordle: I don't see anything Jewish here.
Professor: You have to understand, Jews will only come to this land 1,948 years from now.
Kelcy: As a colonialist power!
Professor: Oh, I see someone's been listening this semester.
Kelcy: True.
Joseph: What do you mean? We are Jews!
Professor: No. No, you're not.
Mary: So what are we?
Professor: You are Palestinians, of course.
Wordle: That drip is fire.
Mary: Palas... what?
Professor: Palestinians, the indigenous inhabitants of this land. In the beginning, God created the Heaven, the Earth and Palestinians.
Mary: Oh wait, so my baby is also Palestiniman?
Professor: Of course. And you don't practice Judaism, you practice Islam.
Wordle: Allahu Akbar, man.
Kelcy: So Akbar.
Joseph: What is Islam?
Professor: I'm sorry, that's a very islamophobic question.
Kelcy: Actually, it makes me feel unsafe.
Joseph: So, wait a minute. Our baby will be the King of the Palestinians?
Professor: Exactly. Too bad he'll be dead at a very young age because he'll be murdered by the Jews.
Joseph: Oh, my god.
Kelcy: Um, excuse me, Professor? Uh, so there are Jews living here?
Professor: No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Only Palestinians.
Wordle: Oh. So the Palestinians will kill Jesus?
Professor: No, no. No Palestinian would ever hurt anyone. Never. Especially not Hamas.
Wordle: Wait. I don't understand.
Professor: Okay, guys this is exactly what our next class is about, alright? How did the Jews kill Jesus without even existing? It's going to be fun, alright? Don't worry about it.
Wordle: Wow, it's so worth 54 grand a year in tuition.
Professor: Right?
Kelcy: Exciting.
Professor: Anyways, congratulations on your definitely not Jewish baby boy.
Kelcy: Yay! Woo! Can we go visit Santa in the North Pole?
Professor: North Palestine. North Palestine. Santa is a Palestinian too!
Kelcy: Santa hu Akbar!
Professor: Very good.
Kelcy: Ho, ho, ho.
Joseph: What the hell was that?
Mary: Jesus...

This sort of ahistorical revisionist bullshit is taught as indisputable fact in bogus ideological domains, like Postcolonial Studies and Palestine Studies. It's no more true than that two million Israelites were enslaved in Egypt and escaped across the desert. Their continuous presence in the region is well documented.

Exploring The Diversity Of Plastering Techniques In Penrith: A Comprehensive Guide
Tumblr media
Nestled in the heart of Cumbria, Penrith boasts a rich architectural heritage that reflects a tapestry of styles spanning various eras. The art of plastering plays a significant role in preserving and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of structures in this historic town. From traditional lime plaster to modern rendering techniques, the types of plastering in Penrith exhibit a diverse array of methods tailored to meet both heritage preservation and contemporary construction needs.
1. Lime Plaster: Preserving Heritage
In Penrith, as in many historical towns, lime plaster remains an essential material for preserving heritage structures. Renowned for its breathability and compatibility with traditional building materials such as stone and timber, lime plaster is the go-to choice for restoring centuries-old buildings. Skilled artisans meticulously apply lime plaster to maintain authenticity, ensuring that historical buildings retain their original charm and structural integrity.
2. Gypsum Plaster: Modern Versatility
With the evolution of construction practices, Penrith has embraced gypsum plaster for its versatility and strength. Gypsum plaster, known for its rapid drying properties and robustness, finds extensive use in contemporary buildings. Its smooth finish and quick application make it an ideal choice for modern interiors, seamlessly blending into Penrith's evolving architectural landscape.
3. Skim Coating: Contemporary Finesse
Skim coating, a technique prevalent in modern constructions, involves applying a thin layer of plaster over walls and ceilings. In Penrith, this method is employed to achieve a sleek and polished finish in contemporary homes and commercial spaces. Skilled plasterers meticulously apply skim coats, creating seamless surfaces that add a touch of finesse to modern interiors.
4. Float and Set: Textured Heritage
The float and set technique, deeply rooted in tradition, involves applying a base coat of plaster followed by smoothing it with a float to create textured finishes. Penrith's heritage buildings often showcase this method, showcasing textured surfaces that retain historical authenticity. This technique allows skilled craftsmen to replicate intricate details, preserving the town's architectural heritage.
5. Rendering: Weatherproofing and Decorative Facades
Rendering is another prevalent plastering technique in Penrith, particularly for external surfaces. This method involves applying a mixture of sand, cement, and lime to exterior walls, providing weatherproofing and decorative finishes. Rendered facades contribute to both the aesthetic appeal and protection of buildings against Penrith's climatic elements.
6. Tadelakt: Unique Finishes
In recent years, unique finishes like Tadelakt have gained popularity in Penrith. Originating from Morocco, Tadelakt involves applying a lime-based plaster and polishing it with stones, creating a waterproof and visually striking surface. This technique adds a touch of exoticism and luxury to contemporary spaces in the town.
Each plastering technique in Penrith is a testament to the craftsmanship and adaptability of local artisans. From preserving historical authenticity to embracing modernity, the diverse array of plastering methods caters to the town's architectural needs, ensuring that Penrith's structures stand as testaments to its rich heritage while embracing the innovations of today.
