The Art Was a Taco.

Yes, last week's controversy involving Dungeons & Dragons was over a piece of art from 2020 depicting Heroes' Feast containing delicacies from all over the world. For whatever reason, this was a thing. Going back to ignoring the D&D hype now.

Wizards of the Coast creates another masterpiece of boredom. Apparently the artwork, which was apparently featured in the new 2024 Dungeons & Dragons Player’s HandBook has a bunch of the (older members of the) online community up in arms. We’ve seen so many shenanigans from Wizards of the Coast over the last few years one can only imagine this could be a completely staged or manufactured…

Okay so I only really jokingly call it tacogate with my friends, but its just such a surreal and kinda stupid experience.

Basically, I used to have a friend who was extremely christian, and he would try several times to get me to admit that god is real and that christianity is right and basically he wanted to try to convert me into being a oerfect little christian, and would often times tell me i was going to hell for not believing in god and all that stuff. Anyways.

He somehow managed to get me to agree to come to his church (I dont even know why I agreed to it but whatever), because they were having tacos and he basically said that we were just having tacos and then leaving. So I went there with him, because I was hungry and I hadnt eaten anything all day because school lunch was bad.

So we get there, and we have tacos. And I sit down at a table kinda close to the door, and he comes over, and two other people from the church sat down at our table as well. So my friend leaves the table to get some tacos, and one of the girls, who i think was one of the main leaders of the group, asks me how long i have been a christian and whatever.

I just casually said that I am an atheist, and just kinda left it at that, mentioned that I went there to support my friend (which also was true because I was doing it for him as well), and the girl just. Goes entirely silent. And stops entirely engaging with me at all. Basically like she was trying to pretend i wasnt there at all.

My friend comes back and starts talking with them, and I am basically not even participating in the comversation because I really had nothing to say, since it was religion related. And I finished my tacos and just wanted to leave then and there, since it was getting really awkward, and I felt like the two other people at the table were judging me a lot.

And then when my friend was done, he said that we could wait a little so he could talk to the other pwople at the church. And I just think whatever, it will be quick. And then they basically start having one of the leaders preach at the front of the room, and my friend just goes and sits down to listen to it, and im just tired at that point, and I want to get the hell out of there. It was just regular church stuff, not something that interests me in the slightest. But since my friend sat down, and everyone else also sat down, and nobody at all left, I just sat at the back because yeah whatever, dont want them to ask any more questions really.

The entire thing took like an hour. An hour more than I had even expected to be there. I qas honestly just regretting even agreeing to going, because I was getting tired of it and just wanted to go outside and like leave.

We eventually do leave, and I am honestly so fucking happy about it at that point. I was considering just going home instantly, but I had went out specifically to hang out with my friend so it just didnt feel right to just leave. I think I also had left my stuff at his place.

A few weeks later my friend mentions that his church is doing like some thing where the girls hang out and basically talk and stuff, and the guys hang out and talk and stuff. Im like: okay? And this guy says that he thinks I should go to the girl ones? Knowing fully well that I am not religious and im also not really too much for hanging out with people I dont know unless I have a friend with me, and since it was all divided based on gender (or sex really because I doubt these people would recougnize trans people) and I only really had guys as friends, except for one who was often times not even at school, so we didnt really hang out a lot either way. So im just kinda like: no? I dont know them?

And this guy basically tells me that I should go to the church more often. Knowing fully well that I am not religious, because he had told me i would go to hell several times before this, and I had even told him i really didnt want to go to the church anymore, since it wasnt something that interested me, and I just felt really misplaced at that moment.

Anyways, that is just a small sample of all the religion related shit he would try to get me to agree with, that me and my other friends now jokingly just call tacogate.

it’s a total mess and super unorganized and repetitive and contains the apology i wrote that no one deserves from me tbh and i am hereby rescinding that apology. these jerks manipulated me into thinking i was the one in the wrong because they saw me as using my traumatic story as an example of why you should have sympathy for other people as “well i had a traumatic experience about this and it makes ME uncomfortable to you have to stop because the world revolves around me!!!”
