Extra rambling under the cut :)

I am SO EXCITED that the rest of you finally know the Otterlings' full names now!! Stagspots, Heatherpath, Sycamorespark, Russetbloom :')

The text on the last panel is what the gen gave me when Russet got his warrior name--I had never gotten that text before when playing clangen, and that was when I KNEW I had to weave in a bit of a Russetbloom story arc into the comic. I love this boy so much and I'm so happy that the rest of you are so invested in his journey too.

The Otterlings are now 14 moons old... The same age that Ottersplash was when she and Shinekit became the only survivors of the coyote attack that jumpstarted the story. She had to grow up so fast, not just for Shinekit but soon for the Otterlings too!

The next moon might take a bit to come out- I really pumped out these past few moons (because I was so excited to share them with everyone!), and I want to be conscious about avoiding burnout. Don't worry, more Mossclan is DEFINITELY on the way, it just might not be quite as quick as it has been...

My little brother and I used to dance around to this song. We didn't realize a donkey was a sort of logging/loading ship's engine, and thought it meant a hee-haw donkey. So we'd do cartwheels and handstands and high kicks, and ride on our dad's back. Just silly kid fun, you know.

Been thinking about what each Link’s cursed form would be (outside of Twilight and Legend) because as far as I could remember, they’re the only two with a form. And being based off of an animal, I think the rest would be as well.

So here’s that.

Time: Stag. Now technically he appears as a golden wolf in Twilight Princess, but I personally think that a deer / big ol stag fits him better (at least in this AU). He has the same vibes to me as the Prince from Bambi.

Wild: Fox. Quick, cunning, and jumping over the lazy brown dog (Twilight). I like the idea of his hair being translated into a big ol fluffy tail in this cursed form, maybe a golden fox or something.

Sky: Mourning dove, maybe even a bleeding heart dove. Some sort of bird at least, I like the idea of him being a bird that symbolizes peace. Also he would love the cooing that doves make.

Four: Mouse or a crow. I couldn’t decide which one I liked more, because a mouse would definitely link up well with the Minish, but crows also flock together. Also they hold grudges, I think Four holds grudges.

Hyrule: Stoat. Similar to Wild being a fox, I love the idea of him being a little forest critter that sprints about and what not. Definitely crawls into someone’s bag and steals things just to mess with them.

Warriors: War horse or a dog. I almost picked a dragon for this one because I read a really good fic once where he could turn into one, but I wanted to keep the theme of real animals so he matches the rest. War horse might step on Epona’s hooves though, so if he were a dog he would be the Hyrule equivalent of a Belgian Malinois. (Just like maligators, he gets nervous when he’s alone and under-stimulated)

Wind: Otter. Now I know that a bird might fit here as well because power over the winds and all that, BUT I really enjoy the image of him doing that back floating thing that otters tend to do. He also would throw things at people when annoyed and then whip down the river before you could catch him.

700 Follower Special AU Just for You All!

The world is a dangerous place. Hazards occur naturally or otherwise on a daily basis, people fall through the cracks in society; it seems like the most that ‘kindness’ affords is the attention of those willing to take advantage of it. 

And this attention seems to be currently directed…at Yuu. 

Yuu is still young, likely no more than 12. In a world that seems to have it out for Yuu, the orphanage is maybe the last bastion of safety until The One comes walking through to officially make them a part of their family. But again, it’s been 12 years, so none can blame them if that hope is starting to wane.

Dire Crowley touts himself as a generous, benevolent caretaker; which is a funny way to say ‘Neglectful’ and ‘Exploitative’. Yuu doesn’t get a chance to find this out until after the whirlwind that was their adoption settles. The man seems to care more about appearances, and where his next hefty payout will come from. So then it falls on Yuu to keep the home looking presentable, Crowley looking generous, and the indentured servitude swept under the rug. 

Not all attention is bad, though. Unseen by human society, the Animal Kingdom keeps its eyes trained to lend a claw out to the vulnerable. The National Rescue Conglomerate, or NRC, are a group of animals from all across Twisted Wonderland who answer the call for help wherever they hear it. The Seven Delegates may not agree on everything, but the one thing they can agree on is that someone will answer a call of distress.

Leona → Lion who only seems lazy until the going gets rough

Azul → Coconut Octopus that has quite the reach of influence

Kalim → Otter trying to do more for himself than just float along

Vil → Peacock who’s fanning out to teach a new generation of Rescuers

Idia → British Blue cat who rarely ‘paws’es his games for anything

Malleus → Komodo Dragon with a reputation as fearsome as his fantasy counterpart

But even with their help, Yuu won’t be completely out of the woods. Crowley keeps a few ‘pets’ he’s willing to deploy to get them back:

Who might be the ones to help rescue Yuu from their situation, and what might happen from there? Will it be smooth sailing once out from under Crowley or will there be others out looking to get Yuu in their clutches? Would they try to return to their orphanage? Maybe their story ends in the joining of a family that actually has their interests in heart? Do they forgo humanity altogether and just live among the animals that so cared for them up until this point?

This AU was built with the immense patience and help of Squidwen. We offer it out to you all as a sort of ‘Follower Milestone’ gift for everyone, since I recently reached 700 folks following me. What we are offering in this AU is:

A chance for you all to throw your OCs in to see how they handle trouble in the form of a real-world animal. Be it through art, writing, roleplay with your friends, This post and AU is more or less a sandbox for folks to play around in!

I’ll be occasionally posting pics depending on what I see/find time to doodle. For reference FOR those doodles, below both Squidwen and I have found where each of our own OCs fit into this general world:

The prim, pale owner of the modeling agency Pearls of Ophenheim. DeVerre especially catches her eye. The girl has unusual silver hair and very pale skin; something that’ll cause a fuss and stir attention in magazines, she hopes. Heels, camera angles, and a ton of make-up, and no one will be able to tell that a child is working for her.

→ She has a pet albino python called Princess.

Honest John and Gidel

Just two, hardworking fellas on the look out for their next employee or circus act. Children make excellent workers, especially those who don’t have much. Yuu is especially of interest to them, given how dextrous they seem. Would they make a good trapeze artist? Or contortionist - given the right training? Or, heck, maybe they’d be happy to just do all the menial tasks around Playful Land, right?

Aadesh Sona and Mr Rajesh Khan (Trinket)

These gentlemen are vital when it comes to producing anything. Animal-testing is the aim of the game for these two, but at times, testing on animals can prove slow, and even a waste of time. Why test chemicals on rabbits and mice when you can just skip to human trials? And since DeVerre and Yuu have been “adopted” by Crowley, no one will stop to ask where they are.

→ Aadesh and Mr Khan as well have their own pets. Basil the Burmese Python being Aadesh's, and a tiger named Shakti. 

As for our own OCs, Eugenio and DeVerre do manage to escape from Crowley’s clutches; with the help of the orphanage cat: Verrick. He sensed something was off with Crowley the moment he stepped through the door. Fearing for the children’s safety, he calls a meeting with the NRC to discuss saving them.

Both of us hope you'll enjoy the premise and find a bit of fun coming up with little scenarios for your OCs to get into. I specifically want to say how grateful I am to have 700 of y'all following for TWST content or the like and I hope to offer more fun things in either interactions, chats, or lil doodles of our characters doing stuff. I esp. wanna thank Squidwen for the help in concocting this whole thing. It's been so much fun to RP with ya and look forward to writing even more UvU

She is a very literal thinker, and can often respond to situations with less empathy than desired, leading to lots of misunderstandings. Though a bit naïve about the wizarding world due to her muggleborn status, she is eager to pursue all ventures of knowledge. She does her best to fit in by dressing the part of a well kempt witch, but her strange vibe and big doe eyes make it a little hard to be taken seriously as her peers.

Of Merlin's direct bloodline, Marie sports an immense aptitude for magic, particularly her ability to wield ancient magic. Though in of itself, this ancient artform hardly listens. It sports a more parasitic nature, and she has little control over it when her emotional state is tampered with.

Despite the happenings of Hogwarts and the looming threats occurring during her fifth year, arguably one of Marie's biggest challenges is overcoming one Amara Ambrose, who's hellbent for whatever reason on making her life a living hell. These two rivals become obsessed with one another, for better or for worse.

Once again, thank you to @littlebloomclan for the inspo for the ear/eye/mouth color coordination! Coloring is a super tedious process and this has made the process that much faster for me.

Speaking of designs, I'll be making proper references for Otter, Shine, and the Otterlings. Some minor design changes might happen to make them easier to draw consistently!

Theriotype List

So, to start out, for context, I think we've all seen a skeptic comment about how all therians are only "cool" animals. I personally have always enjoyed keeping up with those with "rarer" theriotypes and even using them as examples when these kinds of arguments are brought up, so I've decided to do a little bit of a personal project, that being creating a huge list of the wide variety within the therian community. Below is the list I've created so far, sorted by general species, then adding in subspecies/breeds, all in alphabetical order.

Please keep in mind and understand that for now, I am only putting Earthen animals on this list, mainly so I and the post can keep up, because there's a LOT here already and I know there are hundreds more out there. Maybe in the future I'll make another list with mythical/fictional/etc. kintypes, or someone else can do that for me, you have my full permission, just let me know, but for now, just Earthen animals.
