And for my personal view, when she antagonized Naegi for Sayaka’s murder, I feel like that’s her testing his luck, perhaps? But it also might explain why she’s in the background of every pre-game photo just standing, she spends her life in the underground gambling so of course she’s going to be socially awkward

And you’re so correct that everything in chapter 3 was just her being her! People mention why didn’t she use her great poker face in that trial, as if we didn’t see her snap over the littlest thing, such as Hifumi over her milk tea not being exactly how she wanted, or when in “Hair & Gyoza,” throwing a TANTRUM when Kizakura accidentally slipped on a gyoza wrapping and ripped off her drills, kicking, screaming, only to calm down when she requested Kizakura to give her a massage. She makes me physically recoil. So, of course, she’s going to be yelling when she is on trial for a DOUBLE MURDER!! 

As for Celeste’s ass-kissing scene for Byakuya, I interpret it as Celeste having a crush on him, maybe? In the DR collab with Sanrio, Kuromi has a crush on Badtz-maru, something Celeste and Byakuya are seen with in the collab and Celeste’s JP voice actor interview mentions,

“It’s something like, Celestia, Togami, Fukawa, a love triangle?”

It'd be easier to count the ones who ARE good at socializing. Also in the manga it's slightly implied that she grew up isolated or even bullied. I had no idea that there were hints towards her crushing on Byakuya! I personally interpreted the ass-kissing as her wanting to BE Togami. He's rich, powerful, famous, and nothing about his life is "boring". From the second he shows up, he draws everyone's attention and even gains admirers. He is looked after by servants and travels the world. He is EVERYTHING Celestia wants, so he's definitely at the very top of her ranking system.

heeseung is very creative, he knows how to make a situation turn around and knows how to pull out something completely unexpected. that is definitely a trait for a poison type pokemon. he also seems to be very hard headed, he is confident but sometimes it is too much, so he may be a poison-dragon type!

by process of elimination, heeseung is totally eternatus! not to mention, his moves would definitely be very unpredictable and dangerous. since eternatus is an alien that can make holes in spacetime, this is pretty fitting!

ace of swords, the hermit, nine of wands rx., the hanged man

jay is a very intelligent and secure person, he is extremely mature and seems to balance his head and his heart well. jay is also in tune with the world around him and seems to be able to connect with people very easily. which i think it very fitting for a psychic pokemon! it also seems that jay as a pokemon is extremely protective.

deoxys is a great fit given these conditions. deoxys is incredibly smart, being able to change form depending on what it needs. a lot of jay's moves could be something underneath the surface, which fits deoxys' telepathy shown in the anime!

queen of swords, ten of cups, knight of pentacles rx., the high priestess

jake is someone who cannot be held down, he is independent and jumps towards change and his own rules. suffice to say, he may be a little, if not a lot, mischevious. since i also got the emperor he is most likely only darkness, there is no need for him to have another type if he is already strong with one.

the only legendary pokemon that is strictly dark is darkrai! as i mentioned before, there really is no need for darkrai, or jake in this scenario, to have a dual type if he is already strong with one. darkrai is frequently described as the strongest dark type pokemon.

the wheel of fortune, the fool, the emperor

sunghoon is very stubborn about tradition, most of his decisions are based on his past and romanticizing the past. from this i believe that sunghoon would most likely be a dragon type. he would most likely be a dual type dragon-steel, as he can be resilient to what does not align with his beliefs, it can seem lik denial.

the only dragon-steel legendary is dialga, a member of the creation trio. dialga is very strong, being able to control time which fits nicely if sunghoon is heavily influenced by time related themes such as the past, present, and future.

sunoo is very hasty, it feel impatient but he seems to think or at least have a good idea about what is happening. sunoo also seems to be someone who moves very fast, but still, it seems to work out for him in the end. this best suits a water type pokemon. as for dual types, he most likely does not have one.

unlike the other members, there are a few pokemon that meet these conditions. to narrow it down, the background behind sunoo as a pokemon has something to do with fresh beginnings after a painful end. based on this suicune is the best option, since it is said to purify water!

jungwon seems to be someone who is very determined to work and fight towards what he thinks is right, he works for his own morals. he is also very aggressive when he does want something. his main type would probably be fighting. he can also seem to be a little stagnant and not want to change or back down, so his other type could be steel.

although zamazenta also meets these conditions, cobalion is described to radiate the airs of a leader and it is also categorized as an iron will pokemon. therefore, jungwon is most similar to cobalion.

the way niki speaks may be a little dark, in a playful way. not to mean he is automatically a dark type, but it can be very sarcastic. he is a very intense and smart person, he follow his own ideas even if it can seem off-putting to some people. overall, he is independent without any shame. without a doubt niki is a ghost type, he can also be a dragon type since he trusts himself very well.

this automatically narrows niki down as giratina. similar to dialga, giratina is also another member of the creation trio. giratina lives in distortion world, somewhere that is foreign and warps everything we may commonly know. giratina also can control antimatter.

Crow (Yumekuro) - Sanrio Collab - Moon

Emma and Crow are hanging out with Pochacco. (I know, he is really cute XDD)

Pochacoo is full of energy and a very curious little guy. He is desperate to explore the area, so they take him to see a parade which he liked very much.

Then, Crow shows a stamp card he got. They can choose different stamps like the stamp that represents emotion, laugh etc.

When you choose a stamp, you can go to a specific area of the park to play games or do activities related to the stamp.

The first area is like a shooting game. They need to score a certain number of points to accomplish the mission. (image below)

Later, they go to a tent where you can dance with your family and friends. Pochacco knows how to dance and he likes to make people dance with him. He convinced Emma to go to the stage to dance with him. At first, she was a bit embarrassed, but later she relaxed and danced with him.

While they were dancing, Crow was taking pictures of them because he said they are really cute.

Emma also asked a park staff to take a picture of the three of them.

Then, they saw by chance Lagoon. He brought some machines to the park and while they were chatting with him, Pochacco saw some kids skateboarding. Lagoon asked if he knew how to skate and he nodded.

Lagoon let him skate with one of the skateboards they had there. After playing for a while, Lagoon gave the skateboard to Pochacco.

As Pochacco was hungry after playing for so long, Emma and Crow bought a banana ice cream for him.

Pochacco asked Emma what she wanted to do next. In the end, she chose something related to the dokidoki stamp. They headed to the area of the park of that stamp to do the activity. In that area, they learned the activity was simple: they should write their true feelings to someone they liked. The blue card was for friends and the pink one for lovers.

Pochacco chose the blue one. He said he was going to write a card for his best friend choppy.

He asked what card Emma and Crow were going to choose. Emma hesitated, but Crow said they were a couple so they would get the pink one.

When they finished writing their cards, Pochacco said he needed to do something first and asked Emma and Crow to wait for him.

After a while, Emma was worried about Pochacco. He is a bit clumsy and too cute, so she thought maybe someone could do something bad to him or he could get lost.

They started searching for him and eventually they found Pochacco. When they saw he got to his final destination - a huge flower field - Crow said they should go back to wait for Pochacco as he was safe there. Pochacco didn't notice they followed him.

When Pochacco returned he gave present to them: a flower bracelet for Emma and Crow.

When Crow asked why he did that, Pochacco mentioned it was a thank you gift because he was having a lot of fun with them and also (if I understood correctly) he thought it was cute how lovey-dovey Emma and Crow were when they were writing their pink cards.

MOON END

They played with Pochacco for hours and when he got tired, he went to his room to rest.

Meanwhile, Crow pays a visit to Emma in her room.

While they were talking, Crow mentioned Emma was very bold that day. I don't know how is their relationship dynamics because this is the first crow card I read. The impression I got is that she doesn't say out loud how much she wants/loves him even though he knows she is into him.

After spending all day with Pochacco, Emma feels very confident to say how much she likes him. Crow gets a bit embarrassed hearing all that out loud.

When Emma hugged him from behind, even though he was still a bit shy, Crow deeply kissed her. (btw, that's the bracelet pochacco gave to them ^^. And no, we don't get a kissing CG =/)

Independent Excursion: Media Reflection

June 5 - Sanrio Cafe

Lauren and I visited the Sanrio Cafe with guy Sam and with Ana. Lauren and I had tried going prior, but they were closed by the time we had got there, with only the sweets being open. This time, however, we were there on time and got to sit down and order food.

Everything was extremely cutesy, including the decor of the place and the presentation of the dishes. It would be a Sanrio fan’s dream restaurant.

Honestly, out of all the themed restaurants I went to on this trip, this one probably had the best food overall. It looked really good and actually tasted good as well. One thing that I have noticed from the other themed cafes and stuff is that they put so much work into the presentation of the food, that they then lack in the taste and quality aspects of the dish.

Lauren got a soda float, corn pottage, a Cinnamaroll cake roll, the Hello Kitty strawberry pancakes, and a strawberry cake thing. That sounds like a lot, but in her defense I’m not even sure if all those were ordered by her and not by Sam or Ana, and also she was just really excited to go and wanted to try a bunch of stuff, which I thought was very cute. One thing that I found interesting is how much she liked the corn pottage, which is like this corn soup. She still brings it up it was apparently so good. I’m glad she enjoyed that and the experience overall as well. I just got the strawberry pancakes, and they were actually really good.

Overall, it was a good experience. I’m not a big Sanrio fan myself (I know, shocking.) but I’m really glad Lauren liked it so much. As I said, the food and the atmosphere were both great.

Media Representation of Japan: Sanrio and Hello Kitty

Sanrio in general, and Hello Kitty in particular, have such a huge media representation around the world. I would argue that it has become so large to the point that many people may not even realize they are from Japan. They have become so commonplace that Hello Kitty is a household name, having collabs with just about everything, and even having an anime.

I grew up in a family with three sisters, so I was often outvoted on what to watch on the tv, and one thing I remember they would watch and would want to watch was the Hello Kitty anime. I was very young at the time, but I remember it having an extremely feminine and cutesy representation. Like I remember one of the things they did to make it more cute is describe Hello Kitty as being “only three apples tall” to reinforce her smallness and cuteness and putting that image in peoples minds. It could definitely be seen that for example this anime format of Sanrio gives Japan a very feminine, cute, and “weak” idea in the view of the world.

The products produced by Sanrio and in collaboration with them also enforce these ideas of cuteness and femininity. They have all these cute characters in plushy form or on backpacks, pencil cases, literal trains and airplanes, you name it. And the way that it is so widespread and can be found everywhere gives many people the idea that that is what Japan’s culture is like, this kawaii aesthetic. More and more of the products and visuals being associated with Japan are these kawaii ideals.

Some people in Japan, mainly those higher up or more traditional, do not like this representation of Japan and its culture. They prefer the “stronger” and more proper or masculine representations such as that of samurai, tea ceremonies, katanas, ninjas, and stuff of that sort. However, I feel that the world is finding the cuter things much more palatable than the more traditional ones. Hello Kitty is even combined with these things to make them kawaii as well, such as her dressed as a ninja.

Sanrio provides such crazy soft power to Japan, which could arguably be of use to them and their position in the global atmosphere. However, some people would still rather it not be what’s driving the world’s perception of their country.

I honestly do not think it helps their case that being here I’ve seen so much more of the Sanrio, anime, Kirby, figures, stuff like that than I have more traditional cultural values. So, it might not be that the world is getting the wrong idea of Japan, it is just that Japan’s culture has shifted more towards these things. I think that over time, people will have to accept this representation of Japan, as it is becoming more and more prevalent and does not feel particularly avoidable.

“Should we get something for Mae Hyung?” Jisung asking, looking at the Sanrio crane machine they saw earlier.

Mae had been the most excited about their Sanrio collab, cheerfully showing off her plushie collection when it got announced.

“Should we just give her the black one?” Chenle said, pointing to the Kuromi plush they won earlier when filming Chenji’s This and That.

“Isn’t the pink one a set?”

“I think so.”

The two boys eyed the plush in the machine. They had originally given up on the machine after they got Kuromi, but the idea of getting the pink one was tempting. 

“The pink one is her favorite too,right?” Jisung said, remembering how Mae talked about a character named My Melody. 

The duo glanced at the staff, who were busy putting away the equipment. Their manager raised an eyebrow, noticing their stares. Chenle quickly pushed Jisung towards him, gesturing for him to talk to him.

Jisung sighed and handed the Kuromi plush to Chenle, tentatively walking to their manager.

“Hyung, can we try a bit for another plushie?” Jisung asked, trying to convince him in the best way possible, “We’ll use our own money.”

Their manager chuckled, thinking about how cute it was that the two youngest cared for their only girl member. Some things never changed. The manager gave them their wallets and wished them luck.

“You’re lucky we don’t have a schedule after this.”

Jisung silently cheered and jogged his way back to Chenle. Before he could complain, Jisung already walked to get some bills to put into the crane machines.

“Oh? There’s also Hello Kitty here.” He said, pointing to another machine with said character.

“Yah, we’re gonna be here forever if we try for all these characters!”

“Is that a challenge?”

“....Park Jisung you’re on.”

Mae laughed when she saw the duo walk into her room with the My Melody and Kuromi set. She hasn’t seen the two this distressed in a while.

“I went to the same arcade with Johnny last week.” She said amused.

“We wasted so much money on these!” Chenle said, dropping the dolls on the bed. He ran a hand through his hair, groaning at the sight of the same plushies he and Jisung got on Mae’s bed.

“You can always give it to Jaemin.”

“He’s just gonna lose it like the rest of his plushies!”

It’s Bears, but Smaller!

(Why didn’t I lump Bears and Cubs the way I did Cows and Bulls? Because there are a fair number of them, I think.)

I have also realized that, rather than a numerical rating, an emoticon rating might be better. I may do numbers from time to time, and so likely will not go back for the others. There will not be a scale, but a broad expression of my feelings. Or a mimic of their faces. Or a comment. Sometimes.

Disclaimer: Images are from the wiki, all good dogs, my ratings are mainly just there because “Deme gives her abstract thoughts on villagers” is hardly a catchy thing.

Aisle

Another Animal Forest E+ exclusive, another villager that looks like they came out of a Rare game like Banjo-Kazooie or Conker’s Bad Fur Day, even though this one doesn’t feature any exact equivolents. On the whole, I think the high contrast between the blue fur and the tuft of blond hair is a bad look, but the big blue eyes being sort of heavy-lidded and dour’s kind of cute.

Barold is great. Like, I don’t entirely know what they’re going for with him -- he vaguely suggests either Fred Flinstone or an IT guy in my head -- but I love it either way. ��(Fred Flinstone: 5 o’ clock shadow, shirt. IT Guy: Eeyes have kind of a glasses shape, beard).  He’s oozing with character, albeit a strange character, and do I detect little white pawsies? I do!

Bluebear

She’s a bear! She’s blue! She’s got a little white and a little pink, which gives her a nicely over-all pastel look. I like the darker blue (Fire Emblem Lord Blue, perhaps?) hair on her. She is just cute.

Cheri

Another colorful bear cub, this one, pink! I like her, she’s sassy. Nice eyebrows that pair with her eyes to give her an impression of moxie that’s still quite cute. Hair is spiky, which adds to that. She’s peppy, which means that by peppy standards, she’s pretty edgy, in a weird, pink little bear way. Either way, she’s rather cute.

Chester

Man, what do the Animal Crossing devs have against just letting pandas be cute? Chow, Chester... They’re both just sort of weird in a way that I find, funnily enough, more unsettling or dull than charming. Long pupils are not friend-shaped; if they leaned into the creepy, like with a goat, that would be one thing, but it rather spoils Chester. The sad-looking mouth could be cute, but it’s a bit big for that. Almost there, Chester, but just not.

So, Cupcake is kind of Cheri, but with a half-hearted snootification effort via heavy-lidded eyeshadow eyes. Meh.

Judy

A New Horizons new villager, and Judy is sure an aesthetic! The pastel gradients, the enormous sparkly eyes with the big shojou lashes, she just screams that she belongs in a gothic lolita girl’s arms during a photoshoot. Get this bear a lace-up dress. She could be an extra Hello Kitty collab character or something. I’m not actually a huge fan of Judy, but I cannot possibly deny that she is wonderfully what she is, and so while the agressively UWU quality to her isn’t for me, but I can’t help but applaud it. Dedication! Also, I like the subtler blush. It works.

June is maaaybe my favorite cub, she’s just simple and pleasant-looking, without being a pastel screaming-fest, Her colorscheme and implied heavy fringe has a sort of... Like, it makes her big blue eyes and over-all cuteness read “girl next door,” sort of an ordinary, natural cute. And then you add the cute big hibiscus for a little pop that contrasts with her eyes. It’s just a real cute look. I’d probably, though, if I were to consider adopting her, check to make sure her eyes aren’t super weird when you look at them from other angles. It’s a bad fate to befall a villager.

Kody

Hey, look, it’s one of my starter New Leaf villagers! Kody was the last of my first villagers to move out, too, sticking around for quite a while indeed. His departure left a hole that Clyde entered through via someone’s void, and I was not happy about that. As a result, I feel fonder of Kody than I would otherwise, since otherwise, he’s just, you know, a blue bear with a darker blue spot, like many animals that are just like that except not bears. It can be charming with the right face, but there’s nothing particularly noteworthy about his face. It’s just Kody. There he is. Old chum.

Maple

Awwww, look at her! She’s just precious, very simple, with implied floofy bangs and bright little dot eyes. Even the pink sticker blush works better with her colors than I see in a lot of places. If June didn’t have her flowers, maybe I’d be here saying Maple’s my favorite. Maybe Maple is my favorite, I don’t know. She feels like angelfood cake, you, know? Light, pleasant, sweet...Though, admittedly, not especially flavorful.  She’s just cute as she is.

Marty

Ah, a Sanrio villager! ...Not one of the cuter ones, really. Looks sort of like a honey jar bear to me, which is, I suppose, something. His eyebrows have an unassuming quality, like he’s just a normal guy.

Murphy

Remember everything I said about Kody? Yeah, still true about Murphy. His coloring is just sort of “spotted bear,” now in green. But! He does have big square eyebrows and big square eyes, which give him a bit of extra character, reliably and kinda sleepy. A good face.

Olive

Olive is a villager I’ve heard compared to Maple a lot -- it’s the shirt, I suppose, but really, more than that. Her color scheme is also pretty naturalistic and grounded, she has a cute bang outline. She doesn’t push the cute as hard, but that might make her more comfortable, less out-and-out cutesy to folks. That said, her eyes just have that quality I found with the birds, where something about them, paired with the surprised eyebrows, that feels kinda blank, like they reveal nothing. Staring. These eyes have seen too much. But she’s still pretty cute, won’t lie.

Rating: O-O

Pekoe

Aww, isn’t she cute? This screenshot makes her look more cream-colored than I’m used to thinking of her as, a dramatic bonus to her over-all level of adorable. Pekoe’s use of ears to suggest little covered hair-buns is pretty flavorful; it makes me wonder if they almost wanted to make a cute, very on-theme panda, and then decided “No, let’s just make her a white bear, good enough.”  Still, her face is cute, too, with a distinct set of eyes carrying through the same sort of design sensibilities as her hair and ears/buns, intensely stylized. It’s a nice look.

Poko

What is with the shape of his head? You all see that, right, where his head is a totally different, longer, shape? Why? What does it mean? Is it meant to be like a mask? If it were meant to be a long mask, that’d be cool. I don’t think it is? It’s a mystery that he would need another appearance to solve, and that’s not happening.

Poncho

Poncho’s cute. He’s basically just blue Olive, though the bangs are less fwooshy. Still, I find him a bit cuter than Olive, because the oval eyes sort of soften the effect of round on round on round that looks strange and staring; this is a bit more cartoony and cute. That’s about it from me. Pretty cute.

Pudge

Oh, Pudge looks so sad and alone! I want to hug and protect him! I’ve checked other screenshots, that’s just how Pudge’s face is, and it’s so precious! I do not get the freen on the ears and tip of tail, though. I do not understand why this is a thing, and I cannot say I approve of it. It’s kind of a distracting negative among this otherwise adorable design of a baby I just want to protect!

Stitches

OK, so, maybe if it’s not June or Maple, maybe Stitches is best cub. Certainly, he’s the most thematically strong, with this adorable patchwork teddybear design! His eyes evoke a really cute version of his name, little stitches. Just adorable and aesthetically on-point and I’m really happy to see him. I could see him with a place on my island, if I only didn’t have too many villagers I could see with a place.

Tammy

Oh, it’s almost all the things I dislike in a villager design. Random colors without real cohesion or purpose, just “well, this is a colorful animal” that clash with other randomly-selected colors (orange blush, deep rose eyeshadow, pale pink inner ears, white muzzle/paws, brown bangs) with eyeshadowed eyes to say “Hey this is a snooty” without going all-in for glamor-comedy? I think we’ve hit bingo. Funnily enough, I think this might be my least-favorite cub.

Vladimir

Vladimir is ugly with dedication. Vladimir is ugly with a passion. Vladimir is ugly with soul and purpose. Buck teeth and that flatly furrowed, thin, no-brow-unibrow! Those awful bangs! Truly, Vladimir is an artist’s study in ugly-cute. I can’t say that it works to vaunt him into a villager I’d really love to have around, but I can profoundly respect him.

The cubs are good, in conclusion. A good mix of aesthetics, and at least 3 I rather like, which is a good number. Also, I got to whip out some Japanese emoticons, and isn’t that important?

Tales of Festival, Sunday June 4th 2017

Oh, something I forgot about yesterday’s show. Since next year will be the REAL 10th year anniversary for Vesperia, the cast were joking about having a fancy dinner party. Where everyone (including all of us) comes to Yokohama Arena in fancy clothes and eats dinner and goes home. (The image of this absolutely cracks me up. Moving on.)

Okay, I am just going to say it, today was sooooo much better that yesterday ahaha. I enjoyed it a lot. But now I will have hell remembering everything and will probably be editing this post for the next few hours....

I will start right into the skit. 

So while Estelle was in charge of preparations for the 10th anniversary yesterday, she has gone home so Yuri is in charge. Actually, ALL the girls from yesterday have gone home leaving quite a sausage fest. 

Asbel was going to bring the girls but... he decided to protect them. Ahaha. 

Velvet realizes she did meet Eizen’s sister yesterday. AHH! Eizen got kinda quiet and I think said he was happy just to hear from her.... uuuuaaaahaha.

Okay, so the plot! They were all going to put on a specific show (my friends said it was some traditional story but I did not know it, and therefore now do not remember it) but the only girls are Eleanor and Velvet. Eleanor backs out and it’s not Velvet’s cup of tea either. Actually Laphicet jumped in front of Velvet like NOOO haha. (And I assumed it was because Velvet’s character would have a romantic scene he didn’t want to see? Ahah but I might have interpreted it very wrong.)

So, with Ludger present and most everyone having color change cyalumes nowadays, they introduced a new feature. We got to make choices! (...juuust a few.) We changed our lights red to vote for one thing and blue for another. There was a test where we could make Ludger sing or dance. It looked even between red and blue, but dance was chosen. As Ludger cued the music we heard a sexy, sultry beat as he pranced down the catwalk. And then Zelos made him do the other option anyway and he hummed Elle’s lullaby.... aww. (Not exactly singing... but....)

Anyway! Since there were so few girls, they decided to do a power rangers type show. We had the option of the Abyss Rangers from Tales of the Abyss or the Starfish Rangers from Tales of Graces. I forgot the Starfish Rangers existed so I was voting hard for Abyss Rangers buuuut they lost by a longshot. Oh well!

So. Lloyd, Luke, and Asbel were all the red rangers. Three red rangers. Because they couldn’t decide. Eleanor was pink. Sorey was white, which seems like a girl color so he talked girly. Eizen was black. Zelos was the extra green ranger who showed up later. And Laphicet was.... rainbow. 

Jude and Emil were brothers trying to collect fish to sell for money for medicine for their sick mother. Except Emil called Jude “big sister” by mistake ahahaa awww, his voice actor was all flustered and nervous. (I think he was the last time too. He’s always alone as the only non-mothership title character...) When suddenly they are attacked by some “bad guys” Velvet and Yuri. 

Now I don’t quite know how it happened, but SOMEHOW this scene shifted to fighting Dhaos instead. Because Dhaos and Eizen have the same voice actor, Morikawa Toshiyuki . And then Yuan showed up for no reason other than he is ALSO voiced by Eizen’s voice actor. And then he tried to go back to Eizen and voiced Dhaos instead. Ahah he had a lot on his plate. (I remember when he actually came as Dhaos before... and voiced Yuan then too.)

But they are saved by.... SECRET CHARACTER LEON! So much screaming was had. (I may be partially deaf now because secret character Leon.) He even had a Chaltier remake Swordian in his hand.

Okay, on to the talk segment...

Eleanor’s voice actress was so nervous and happy to be here. She has always wanted to come ever since she voiced the twins in Legendia! 

Every time Sakurai (Asbel) comes there are so many awkward close-ups of his face. 

Leon’s voice actor Midorikawa was so happy to finally have Chaltier legitimized as a real sword.... I think he was jealous that Stahn had his Swordian’s voice actor yesterday though.

Midorikawa had to keep super secretive since he was a secret character, but he went to Starbucks this morning. And ran into Toriumi (Yuri) there. And there were Tales of Festival fans all around them.

Okay, you all know the results of the popularity poll, and if you don’t I will link you here.

As they were announced any voice actor who got a character in the top 20 was given a soapbox to sit on while they thanked the crowd. But there were three special chairs for the top three. So when it got down to the last three spots it was obvious it would be Ludger, Luke, and Mikleo... but in what order? And Mikleo’s voice actor wasn’t even there?! So naturally everyone hoped he would be the second character today but... he was not. 

When Mikleo was announced the winner we saw a special message of Osaka Ryota sitting in the chair in the arena (probably the day before), and then they put a Mikleo cutout in the chair and all threw him in the air chanting. 

(That was hilarious though, and well now I know for sure there was a legit reason Sorey and Mikleo couldn’t be there on the same day, otherwise Mikleo would have been the secret character for sure.)

The best part however was Sorey’s voice Kimura Ryohei actor RUNNING IN CIRCLES AROUND THE STAGE when he was announced. He said he was happier than when he was announced (number 6) and was so stoked he got to share the top 10 with his childhood friend.... hskjklsd. 

Oh, before it was announced Toriumi (Yuri) kept “accidentally” sitting in the number one chair. (Ahaha well he kind of deserves it, since he never got a special chair when he was #1.)

Being the champions, Yuri and Leon’s voice actors hosted this section. Until the top three when Laphicet and Eleanor’s voice actresses got behind the podium to “help” (since well... it was clear they did not make the top 20....) I found out later Laphicet made 21 though! SO CLOSE! Eleanor did not rank in top 30.... why.... how... she was the only one from Berseria not on there... I guess she was not as popular as I thought. 

After the popularity poll a person in a Hello Kitty costume came out and announced a Sanrio amusement park collab. That... was a thing that happened.

Today was still great. Kondo, Ludger’s voice actor, apologized for not coming last time and said he wants to come EVERY TIIIIME from now on. Everyone at the end all lamented they couldn’t be with their partners. Ludger wanted Elle, Lloyd wanted Colette (as ALWAYS), Leon missed Stahn, Emil wanted Marta. Someday we will raise the money for a perfect Tales of Festival.... someday....

Cutie Reviews: NMNL Nov 19

Sorry to anyone waiting for the next review, right after I took the pictures, it sorta took a backseat to everything else going on. Besides still playing Animal Crossing, my mom came home from the hospital so I’ve been taking care of her, I got back into a manga series that I had took a break from, wiki editing, etc...

Anyway, I’m back again! I’m going to try to get things back on track so hopefully my next review will be done within the next few days.

Contest

In going with the theme, this months mini-contest involves a bunch of Cardcapture Sakura items; like a really cute heart-shaped lip cream. The grand prize winner will receive a pack of multi-functional creams, 1 day tattoo eyeliner, and a makeup pouch.

Glam Gift and Horoscope

Meanwhile, this months Glam Gift features no characters, but some cutesy looking wine-flavored products from the brand Labiotte, and some egg-based (but they don’t smell like them thankfully) Too Cool for School products.

I can’t say I’m a wine girl, but I think 3, 5, and 6 look adorable~ I’m a sucker for makeup products shaped like other things.

Kirby Lip Cream

Our Kirby trendy continues with this adorable limited edition lip cream, but what also makes this one special is that it comes in 10 different styles! Each one has the same Peach scent, but the designs are based on famous locations in Japan: Mt. Fuji, Hokkaido, Yokohama, Tokyo, Okinawa, Kyoto, Kochi, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Nagoya.

I got Hokkaido ♥ which is one of my favorites, so I was pretty excited. I’d love to get the whole collection if they have it on the Japan Haul website though~

This lip cream feels wonderful on the lips. It’s very smooth and soft, and you can feel it on the lips because it’s a tiny bit greasy, but you only taste it for a moment or so after applying it- which can be a good or bad thing depending on preference. The peach smell is lovely too.

Sho-Bi Lollipop Lipgloss or Lip & Cheek Cream

This one was included because it reminded the makers of the box of the invincible candies in Kirby :3 It came in 4 variants, two lip & cheek and two lipgloss. It has a strawberry scent, and a light pink shade. It contains moisturizing ingredients like shea butter and hyaluronic acid.

It smells really good and it doesn’t feel bad on the lips. The only problem is, it’s patchy and very light and it doesn’t go with my skin tone at all. But it looks really nice on my cheeks as a blush, it actually matches the blush I normally use and blends in very smoothly (I didn’t blend it into my hand skin, it’s much more natural looking when it is), so this would be a nice alternative to applying powder if I’m in a hurry.

If you recall one of my summer NMNL boxes, you might recall the similar looking popsicle we got. It’s so cute, so I’m glad to add this to my collection~

Anime Girl Bath Bomb/KiraKira Ring Bath Bomb

I was really excited when I saw this next item, because I’ve seen them before on a couple Youtube channels I watch and I’ve always wanted one. I love the packaging because it gives me heavy Pretty Cure vibes, this girl is so cute ♥ 

This is a typical spherical bath bomb with an orange scent, and it features a prize; 6 rings in the shape of a glittery, clear heart or star, coming in pink, blue, or yellow.

A+ for the bath balls fizz and scent. The ring is also very cute, I got a pink star (I love pink but I really wish I got the ♥ so close~), but I used this to soak my feet and they felt really dry after a while when I finished. I’m not sure if it was the bath bombs doing, or if it was because they were already dried prior to soaking them.

Fate Grand Order x Sanrio Nail Stamping Plate

This item is a partner to the one we got last month, as part of the collaboration between Sanrio and the FGO series. As I said last month I’m not a fan of this series or know of it very well, but I think it’s pretty popular, I see it pop up a lot. I love Sanrio collab items though, they’re always so cute.

The one I got is Gilgamesh, who I can’t say would have been my first choice... unless I got his makeup palette in last months box, so they could match. But anyway, this kit includes the shape plate, a scraper, and a stamper. The back also includes an image of nail polish colors matching the character, and the inside includes some example designs.

As cute as it is, as I said, I’m not really into this specific set. I was willing to try it, but the problem is that I really couldn’t figure out how to. The directions seem clear enough, you just wet the specific stamp/area with polish, then use the stamper to pick it up and transfer it onto the nail. But for some reason I couldn’t get it to work.

I could get the nail polish to apply and the scraper to work- but the stamper wasn’t picking it up. I was fiddling with this for probably a half hour before I gave up. The booklet suggests using “nail stamp polish“ for best results, which could in theory explain why I couldn’t get it to work? I might see if I can find one to see if it makes a difference.

Kawaii Character Makeup Pouch

This item features everyone’s favorite Sanrio and San-X characters, in the form of a cute little cubical pouch. I’m not sure what its made out of but it feels very smooth on both the inside and out. PomPomPurin isn’t my first choice, but it’s very cute.

It’s very nicely crafted, and it feels really nice to hold. It can fit smaller items (such as the two lip products, ring, and hand cream from the box) and it’s actually pretty spacious. But it could also work just to carry some necessities, like keys, change or money, cards, coupons, etc.

Nam Chi Ni Message Sheet Mask & Mediheal BTS BT21 Face Point Mask Set

These items are 2 of the 3 Korean products in this months box, and both of them are facial masks. Our first one features the popular mascot characters designed by the members of Korean boy pop group BT21- and to be honest, I’ve never actually listened to them before. I feel like I’m one of the only people who never has.

Not because I don’t like their type of music or anything, I just never felt the need to.

What makes these mask fun is that rather than being one single sheet, they come in the form of 6 mini-sticker like pieces you stick on the various skin points in need of some quick 5-10 minute relief. Each of the 7 characters has a focus in this set, such as: 

Cooky - radiance and skin barrier protection

Koya - moisture and glow

Mang - soothing and vitality

RJ - soothing and calming

Shooky - skin enhancement

Chimmy - evening skin tone & nourishment

Tata - skin energy & vitality

Out of these, Koya is definitely who I would have wanted ♥ so I’m glad I got him. But Cooky and RJ look really cute too. It has a strong sort of lotion scent.

As cute as this was... I think this product needs some fine-tuning. It’s very moist (in fact I didn’t nee to use these all at once, they remained wet for over a week so I could just use them when I felt like it) and they adhere to the skin great. But they do begin to lose moisture quickly after application, so the 5-10 minute thing is accurate, but I don’t think its long enough to really help much. The skin where I used these didn’t feel any different, other than a little sticky. But I will say that the skin does look a little more vibrant than it did prior to using.

It’s a bit silly, but I can’t bring myself to throw away the cute little patches. They dried very quickly after use and smoothly, so I plan to hang onto them. I might turn them into stickers, or put in a scrap book.

Our other face mask features a unique concept of a handsome guy in 4 difference outfits, with the mask featuring a quote and detail taken from the guy. For example, mine is the prince-looking one, and besides a message the mask has blue sparkles near the eyes and a crown.

Each mask also has a “focal point“ like the above set did, with mine focusing on moisturizing. The scent has a strong... sort of flowery-perfume scent? I never know what it is and I’ve gotten it a few times, but I really really like this scent.

Besides its great scent, I feel like this mask did a lot better then the above. It’s not nearly as cute and it’s kinda silly looking- but I did like how cool and refreshed my face felt after using it.

Korean Manga Hand Cream

Our last item is a hand cream based on Korean manga, with a peach scent. On the back, this seems to be from a series called Tale of Felluah.

The art on this is very pretty, and the peach scent is surprisingly different than the Kirby lip cream. This one reminds me more of a realistic and refreshing peach, rather than a creamy candy peach. The cream is very smooth and it soaks into the hands quickly. I really like it. Besides the Kirby lip cream, I’ve also decided to put this in the stand near my bed for quick access.

Content - 3.5 out of 5. I like everything and we got a decent variety of items! However, I feel like a couple of the could have been better...

Theme: 5 out of 5. I’ve been waiting for themes like this, because I love products base on series I like. Plus everything was really cute. Spot-on.

Total Rank: 7 out of 10. This box was really good, but the items themselves  could have been a little better. I really like how some of them weren’t really like... the typical mainstreams like Pokemon, but at the same time, I wish they could have used series I was more into- like Sailor Moon, Pretty Cure, or more video game series. But I wasn’t unhappy with this box at all.

♥ Cutie Scale ♥

Lip Cream - I love how it feels on my lips, and the packaging is my most favorite. I wish we tasted it a little longer though.

Hand Cream - I love its scent more than the kirby’s peach version. It made my hands feel so soft, and it soaks in quickly.  

Lip & Cheek Lollipop - smells lovely and it’s very cute. I wish it did more for my lips though.

Anime Girl Bath Bomb - very cute and fun, smells great. I’m not 100% sure on the quality of the bomb itself though. 

Koya Point Mask - I loved the design, but the quality could have used some work. I feel like it didn’t really do very much.

Makeup Pouch - I love the quality of it, but I really didn’t need more pouches.  

Message Sheet Mask - it’s pretty silly looking, but I think I got one of the tamer masks. I do like those princely types, and it smells great~

Nail Stamper - it’s a cute and fun little item, but I couldn’t get it to work...
