i've been reading about ß-cell transplants for type 2 diabetics and im confused by what im reading;
ok so like a quick search shows that most T2Ds arent eligible because they have insulin resistance, i.e.: if we DO plant ß-cells, the body would still need much higher amounts of insulin but that literally makes zero sense on a broader scale! T2D does not occur when there's IR solely, IR on its own would lead to glucose intolerance, not necessarily T2D. T2D only happens when there is IMPAIRMENT of ß-cells. iirc from my lectures, T2D occurs when there's damage to 30-60% of ß-cells' mass. so, if a T2diabetic were to reverse their insulin resistance (either with drugs or lifestyle management) they wouldn't be cured because their beta cells are still messed up. They would need insulin at some point in their life (OR commit to a low-carb lifestyle, OR be on drugs that increase ß-cell production, OR a high exercise routine, anything that lowers insulin needs) so if we take a T2Diabetic, who reversed their insulin resistance, why wouldnt we consider a ß-cell transplant to substitute the damaged beta cells? im very confused lmao
will report back when i research more

My blood sugar was ridiculously high this morning and I sobbed like a baby (it was 286 at the highest) then I guzzled some water and walked around and now it’s at 198 and I’m slightly dizzy but only slightly. So this is my life now?

Diabetic Foot Care: Taking the Right Steps
Consult diabetic foot doctor in Navi Mumbai as diabetic people are at a high risk of foot ulcers and infections. They are also prone to nerve damage, mostly in the legs.

my best friend thinks weight/body fat can contribute to getting type 2 diabetes. i told him it doesn't, that there's just a positive correlation between higher weight and type 2 because they can both be caused by excess sugar intake, and he got upset and angry with me for trying to school HIM about diabetes when it's more in his family than mine and basically said i just believed whatever i saw on tumblr. do u hav any info with sources on the issue?
Check my “t2diabetes” tag and also tell your friend to shut up.

my t1d story... part 1
Even though I was diagnosed October 24th, 2019, my story begins months before. A few months before i was diagnosed I threw up while a school. It was right after my first class which was P.E. so we didn't think much of it. A few weeks later I threw up in the middle of the night but thought it was something I ate, turns out it wasn't. A week or 2 before I was diagnosed I started dinking almost a gallon of water a day cause I was constantly thirsty, with that came frequent urination. a few days late my appetite became very suppressed, and I was rapidly losing weight. My grandma is t2d, and could see the signs in me. She told my mom, my mom made a appointment with my doctor, and that's when my life changed. That appointment was October 24 2019, at 9 am.  part 2 coming soon!
