truth be told, zhiyun doesn't quite know what to feel or think as he stares at angela across from him. but what he does know is that this growing silence between them is making him uncomfortable, like the calm before a storm. "what time's your flight later? do you think we have time to have dinner together before you leave?"

what she said has somehow had zhiyun raising his eyebrows—so many thoughts of a time long since passed flooded his mind, but it was beyond the point now. he had to give her credit after all, she tried what she could and he was there to bear witness to it all. "you're all booked, huh. i see you all over my social media feed." he teases good-naturedly, letting loose a laugh before meeting her gaze, and if his attention wasn't taken over by her words next, he would've started to wonder when would be the right time to break eye contact naturally. "yep. working fully behind the scenes, and now i get why everyone is always so tensed up and stressed on sets." another slightly exaggerated joke, but he likes what he does. "feel free to tell me if you need anything. i promise i will not give a dirty judgy look."

“ i know i can get caught up in work but i don't forget people. ” she smiles fondly before excitement lights up her eyes. “ you know how it is— i finished filming for a movie almost two months ago and here we are working on another one. ” she takes a sudden pause, unsure of what to say as her eyes linger on zhiyun for a second too long. “ i hear you're working behind the scenes full time now? you're going to be just as busy as me if not more now. ”

"as good as i can be." the male chuckles, pleasant surprise flooding over him. "i almost thought you have forgotten about me. so, how have you been?"

“ it's good to see you... it's been a long time. how have you been? ”

they have enough time just for dinner. that's what she's saying, zhiyun couldn't help but think, before nodding as he returns her smile with one of his own, even though he couldn't quite meet her eyes. "we should cook. it's been a while since we ate together at home anyway." cooking isn't his favorite thing to do in the world, but he's grown to appreciate it more because living on take-outs whenever he was on set is starting to get a little too boring for him, so he tries to cook whenever he could, especially when angela is around too. "what do you feel like eating?

she feels a sense of dread as she looks at zhiyun, her mind running through a million different things before his words bring her back to their conversation. “ my flight is before midnight, so we have time for dinner. ” her lips curve into a soft smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes, unable to completely mask her inner turmoil around him. “ do you want to order something in, or should we cook? ”

"i wouldn't be surprised even if you do. as far as i know, you're the busier one out of us both here." plus, people tend to try to forget a past relationship whenever a break up happens. however, instead of voicing that thought out, zhiyun simply returns her smile, "but i'm glad to hear that. i hope work's treating you well? or you're taking care of yourself, at least."
