I always forget how much I love the alien movies and then for 3 weeks a year they're the only thing I can think about
anyway sigourney weaver can run me over with a bulldozer and I would thank her
#gibberish#alien#anyway I went to see romulus and i have mixed feelings#maybe I'm just bummed cause the final girl wasn't really final girling if u know what I mean#like Ripley had final girl written all over her always#Rain's no one gets left behind attitude.... girl bffr#also I feel like the whole thing of alien should still be isolation and being hunted down#and I was really hoping to see that in this movie#and instead I got a bunch of unlikeable characters that I wanted to see being hunted down more than they were#I only cared about Andy#I got a soft spot for synthetics

Have a throw-away Andy. I'm gonna redo the lighting tomorrow as I don't really like it. But don't want this version to be gone either. Same model but not the same Andy we meet in Romulus. He's a famous face after all.

Love this post by @microsff
You went to a garage sale to see what you could find. You had been working on so many projects that you were hoping to get parts for cheap, when you saw an Andrew the Android. He was sitting on a table, swinging his feel that barely scraped the ground. He was an early version. It was easy to tell by his stocky build, and the way he barely looked humanoid. Newer ones looked more human.
“How much is he?” you asked the man sitting by a lock box, pointing to Andrew.
“You don’t want that one,” the man grinned, showing off all his teeth in a way that made you frown. “It’s a weird one. Sent it up to clean my gutters in a storm, you know, testing out that ‘waterproof’ feature.”
“Uh-huh,” you said unsurely, shifting on your feet slightly.
“And it got struck by lightening. Been odd ever since. Telling me to call it ‘Andy’ and asking me questions. Didn’t think these ones of them were meant to be so annoyingly human.”
“I still want him. How much?” you insisted.
You and the man go back and forth for a bit before you finally handed him a small wad of cash. A giddy feeling fluttered in your chest as you approached him. He looked up at you, a blank look on his expressionless face.
“Hi there. I’m Y/N. I just bought you,” you explained as you offered him your hand. “I’m so excited that I found an early Andrew. You’re one of my favorite androids of all time.”
“Andy, please,” was his response. He held up his hands, no, claws, as if to apologize for not shaking yours. “It’s nice to meet you.”
You brought him home, and he settled in quickly. One day, he greeted you at the door.
“Can you make me hands?” he asked.
“Why? Your claws work better, and you can swap them out with other attachments,” you asked back as you started gathering things for the project you were working on.
“I want to pet your cat.”
“You can’t even feel her fur though.”
“But she can. And I want her to like me petting her.”
You paused, thinking for a moment. “Alright. I can build you hands.”
“I also want to learn guitar. Can you make sure I have good fingers?”
That made a grin crack your face. “Yes, I’ll make you good fingers.”
You two lived in good harmony for awhile, until one day, he showed you a book. “Why is one character being called ‘they’?”
“Oh, because they’re non-binary.”
He nodded as he went back to the book. “I think that fits me better than he.”
You nodded back at them, scrolling through your phone. “Okay.”
Another day, they come to you, holding a book with a picture of a flute. “Can you build me a mouth? And move my port?”
“You want to learn to play the flute?” you asked curiously, looking at the book, their fingers curling around the pages.
“Yes.”
“Alright.”
They took to the flute much better than the guitar, but you don’t say anything. Even when they wake you up in the middle of the night. They’re still not very good, but you enjoy hearing their progress.
Yet again, they come to you, showing you a magazine with synthetic skin and hair on an android. They don’t say anything as they hand it to you, looking down.
“Okay. I’ll take you in and let you pick everything out,” you say as you hand them back the magazine.
“Do you think I’ll really be able to feel?” they asked nervously, rolling the magazine up into a tube.
“Maybe. Why?”
They looked away, and you thought if they were human, they would have blushed. “I want to pet your cat.”
“You pet her all the time.”
“I want to be able to feel it too.”
As always, you nodded. “It’s worth a shot at least then, right?”
Andy went in many times for many more modifications on top of the ones they asked you to make for them. Over the span of months, but in a way that hit you all at once, you fell in love with them. The way they laughed. How excited they were to learn. How excited they were to just be.
“Hey, Y/N! Andy! Welcome in yous guys. I got the room set up. Andy’s got a surprise for you, Y/N. You’re gonna let Andy pick out everything as always, yeah?” the mechanic greeted the two of you as you stepped inside.
You thought it was a little odd she just kept saying “Andy” instead of “they” but you brushed it off. “Yeah Sal. It’s Andy’s body. They can do what they want.”
Andy and Sal shared a grin before you were ushered into the waiting room. A couple hours later, a dark haired woman came out, her hair styled into a neat bun on the top of her head. Her eyes were green, your favorite color. There was a softness to her face and features, as well as a stockiness to her build. She reminded you of Andy, in a way, so you returned her smile.
Sal came up behind you, gesturing to the woman. “What do you think?”
“Oh she’s lovely, perfectly stunning, but you know I’m just waiting on Andy,” you said with a frown and furrow of your brows.
“Hi Y/N,” the woman said shyly, looking down at her feet.
“Andy?”
“I mean, I guess, but I want a new name.”
“What is it?”
“I don’t know yet.”
You tilted your head, looking at her curiously. “But you already know every name that there is to know.”
A sweet smile touched her lips as she walked over to you, taking your hands in hers. “I don’t know how they sound when you say them yet.”

a/n: this took forever cause it's been forever since i last wrote but how could i pass up this opportunity of writing a love triangle kinda thing for one of my fave horror movie franchises (and two perfect hunks)? also, please appreciate that i rewatched the scene where kay is stuck like 100 times to get the dialogue accurate
warnings: ANGST, mentions of pregnancy, mentions of abortion (your body your choice guys!), no one's chest got burst open and everyone survives, yay!, mentions of injuries

MAIN MASTERLIST | ALIEN MASTERLIST
“Oh my God, oh my God, Andy, open the door!”You begged them standing on the other side of the door, feeling the presence of the alien behind you. “Open the door!”
“Hey, hey, hey, look at me, look at me!” Tyler tried to get you to focus on him from the other side. “It’s alright, we're gonna get you out.”
He turned to Andy, telling him repeatedly to open the door, as did Rain.
But she noticed first that Andy did not make a move to unlock the door. “What are you doing?”
Tyler kept his eyes on you. “Don’t look over there, look at me.”
You noticed something was going on. What, you had no idea. Fear was coursing through your veins as you sobbed. “Tyler, what’s wrong?”
“Andy,” Rain looked at her brother intently, her hands gripping his arms. “I need you to open that door right now, okay?”
“That’s what the creature is waiting for us to do,” he explained in an unusually calm voice.
“No! What the fuck, Andy, open the door!” Tyler shouted over to the synthetic, trying to somehow change his mind.
“If I opened that door, we would all die,” Andy concluded in an almost detached manner.
“Andy, please, please, I’m begging you,” Rain pleaded with him, her hands planted firmly on his shoulders. “She’s pregnant! Andy, come on!”
Tyler’s gaze immediately shot to the two siblings, then back to you, his eyebrows furrowed.
“Fuck!!” He screamed, his fists banging against the glass of the door before he walked over to Andy, getting on his knees as he held onto the synthetic’s hand, crying as he begged him to open the door.
“Please, Andy, please,” Tyler sobbed. “Don’t let her die, man, please.”
And in a moment of sheer miracle, he didn’t.
The door slid open and you fell into the hallway, right into Tyler’s arms. Everyone pulled you away from the open door as it shut at the last moment, helping you narrowly escape the alien.
However, there wasn’t much time for you to recover despite the many injuries you have suffered from falling down stairs and platforms, crashing into cold, hart metal. All four of you sprinted along the curved hallway towards the next best hiding place, eventually finding a small, empty office. Andy locked the door behind him while Rain helped you to the desk, shoving the clutter off of it.
“Fucking hell, Andy!” Tyler shoved the synthetic. “How could you risk letting her—“
“Tyler,” Rain warned him, looking over her shoulder as she tended to your injuries.
He scoffed, running a hand through his hair as he paced through the office, visibly trying to calm himself down. His eyes landed on you, and yours found his, all the physical pain forgotten. All the emotional pain coming back.
The dam you’ve been building so carefully now broken beyond repair, and all the water flooding back in. Nausea was rushing through your body when his voice turned to you
“When were you gonna tell me?” He echoed from the furthest corner of the office.
“I do not think this is the time to be having such a conversation,” Andy instantly stepped in, blocking him from your view. “Calm down, Tyler. And let her calm down, too.”
But with your throat constricted, you had no way of saying anything. Not even to Rain as she sent you a compassionate look that said ‘I am so sorry.’
“How bad is it?” You asked her to deflect from the commotion on the other side of the office.
“Pretty tough bruising, but I don’t see any broken bones,” she noted. “You think you can make it back to the Corbelan on foot?”
You swallowed hard, letting out a deep, compressed breath in an attempt to calm your nerves just enough to remain level-headed. At least for the moment. You gave her a nod, which she acknowledged with a small smile.
“You got this,” Rain said, though you didn’t know what exactly she meant. Only felt that she probably wasn’t referring to your bruises.
⋆𖤓⋆
Back on the Corbelan, the rest of the crew all let out relieved sighs at the sight of their unscathed friends. “Oh, thank God you’re safe,” Kay let out a breath she'd seemingly been holding ever since you left the space ship. “We should get you to med bay just to be sure you’re all okay.”
It wasn’t more than a good amount of bruises for all of you, and trauma for the rest of your lives, but everyone made it out alive, and was ready to leave, which was the only thing that mattered right now.
“We’ll take care of everything at home, and then we’re out of there for good,” Tyler announced, and Rain nodded in agreement.
“I’ll set course for Jackson’s Star,” Navarro said and left for the cockpit.
“Come on guys, let’s get buckled in for the ride,” Rain said, pushing everyone else out of the exam room. Everyone except for you and Tyler. She gave you one last apologetic look before mouthing the word ‘talk’ and walking off.
With everyone gone to the cockpit, leaving you and Tyler in med bay, the room suddenly felt a lot less comfortable than it already did by default.
His stare was ice-cold, his arms crossed in front of his chest, moving up and down with each deep breath that filled his lungs and calmed his nerves. You knew this look, you’ve seen it enough times.
“I just can’t do it anymore,” his British accent bounced off the walls of the trailer.
“What are you talking about?” You asked. A beat. No reaction. “Tyler!?”
The silence sucked all the oxygen from the small mobile home, leaving you nearly gasping for air as the first wave of nausea engulfed you. The final telling sign that this is where it ends.
“This!” He spat, arms spread as he gestured around the room. “This whole me and you thing!”
But words failed you, and the silence gave him courage.
"This hasn’t been going well for months, and you know it. We keep pretending that everything’s fine, that somehow everything will magically get better once we do this, once we do that, but it won’t. I can’t fix this. I can’t fix us. I’m just trying to survive here, trying to make it through another day without losing my mind. And your expectations, your— your… plans and hopes and dreams, they’re just… exhausting. This is exhausting.”
⋆𖤓⋆
His arms had been the ones to hold you tight all night long as you broke down once and for all. His thumbs had been the ones to wipe away your tears despite them already having formed into an endless stream of salty liquid. His ears had been the ones to listen to your heartbroken attempts at understanding how he could so suddenly throw it all away when he’d been the one to promise you over and over again that he would rather die than live a life without you.
And his mouth had been the one to shut you up and make you forget about everything. Even if just for the night.
“Stop looking at me like that,” you said as you got up into a sitting position, pulling your shirt back down and crossing your arms in front of your stomach as if hiding it from him. As if doing that will save you from having to deal with the implications of a small human being growing inside of you.
“How am I looking at you?” Tyler retorted in a hissy tone.
“You know exactly how you’re looking.”
He uncrossed his arms, letting them fall to his sides in a dramatic gesture of annoyance as his eyes glanced around the room, then back at you.
“Well, care to have a conversation now?” He asked expectantly.
You huffed. “I don’t know why I should.”
“Uhm, well, I don’t know,” he shrugged. “Maybe because you’re pregnant and didn’t tell me.”
“I don’t see how that’s any of your business, Tyler.”
“Oh, so you suddenly forgot how babies are made?”
“Haha, so funny,” you said with a stern look on your face, cocking your head to the side. “Patronising as ever.”
“So what?” He huffed in response. You were just gonna get rid of it? My child! Make that decision for both of us?”
“Who the hell said it’s yours, huh?” You snapped, the pain turning into anger and frustration.
“Yeah, cause there are plenty guys to choose from on the colony,” he scoffed, a pained grin on his lips.
That shut you up. You looked to the side as if avoiding his eyes would take the rising feeling of guilt away. As if it would undo what you did.
“You know what? You’ll never change,” he mumbled, turning around and storming off.
On his way out of med bay, his shoulder bumped into that of his cousin. Annoyed at everything and everyone, he shoved him against the wall. “Get out of my fucking face, mate!”
You wanted to follow him, not giving him the satisfaction of blaming everything on you and then leaving you in silence. But upon rushing after him — or, attempting to — a sharp pain jolted through the side of your body, forcing you to stay behind after all.
“Fuck!” You hissed, then shouting after him before he disappeared into the hallway. “You’re one to talk, Tyler!”
It hadn’t been just one night.
It had become a habit. A nasty, disgraceful habit that left you ashamed of yourself, of what you’d become.
Of what he’d turned you into.
“We have to stop,” you said as you sat on the edge of the bed, turning your back to his laying frame on the other side.
“What’cha mean?” He asked, his voice rough.
“I mean exactly what I said,” you huffed. “This,” you gestured between him and yourself, “is not okay. We can’t keep doing this.”
“Come on, don’t— Let’s not have this conversation, alright? Don’t make this complicated when it doesn’t have to be,” he groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“He’s your cousin!” You cried out. “And my ex! How is that not complicated?”
You jumped up from the bed, hastily putting on your shorts and tee, ignoring your discarded underwear as you made for the door of his trailer, slipping on your shoes, and storming off without another word.
“You’ll come back anyways, luv. Just like you always do,” he shouted after you before you slammed the door to the trailer shut.
“You alright?” Bjorn held onto you before you stumbled.
“Yes!” You hissed, aggressively pulling your arms back. “I’m fine. Just fine.”
A chuckle rumbled from his chest. “God dammit, is everyone on this bloody ship on their period or what.”
“Just shut the fuck up, Bjorn!” You near-shouted. “Not everything’s a fucking joke.”
Despite the pain in your side, and the inability to storm off, you made for the door when, suddenly. his hand grabbed your wrist, pulling you back forcefully. You landed in his arms, chest to chest, face to face, your eyes pulling each other in like they did that one fateful night.
“Kinda tragic you always end up in my arms when he fucks up,” Bjorn mentioned. “Always me who has to pick up the pieces.”
“Let me go, Bjorn,” you said, your voice calm despite.
“Only if you tell me what that was about,” he motioned towards the hallway where Tyler had just disappeared.
“Nothing,” you replied shortly.
He tsked, shaking his head. “Still the avoidant type.” His grip on your arms loosened, yet he moved closer to you, his lips grazed the shell of your ear.
“If only you were as open as your legs were two weeks ago,” his whispery voice echoed through your entire body.
“Oh, fuck off!” You hissed, shoving him back which did not amount to much because a) he was too strong for you and b) the sharp pain shooting through your side held you back.
“Hey, sorry to interrupt you guys, but we wanna leave,” Kay timidly walked into med bay, letting the two of you know you needed to come to the cockpit.
⋆𖤓⋆
“Did something happen on the ship?” Kay asked, clearly having to force herself to bring up the topic that surely was on everyone’s mind at this moment. “I don’t know, there’s just this… this weird vibe ever since you guys came back.”
What followed was an even more awkward silence than before. Half of the crew didn’t know what to say, and the other half didn’t want to risk accidentally revealing one secret or the other.
Tyler’s eyes landed on you, his gaze still dominated by that look of vexation and resentment. Bjorn looked from you to Tyler and back again, ultimately deciding to just stare at the ground.
Like the rest of the crew.
“Great. Now you’re not even saying anything,” Kay tried again. “Which proves my point by the way.”
The oppressive silence was a clear admission of your guilt, and gave her trust to keep digging.
“Tyler? Care to explain what happened?” She turned to her brother. “Cause I know damn well something did happen on that ship.”
“Why don’t you start with the person who’s clearly the cause of it all,” he hissed, blaming you so aggressively you had trouble keeping your composure.
“Me?” You scoffed.
“Yeah, obviously,” he hissed.
You crossed your arms in front of your chest, shaking your head. “Oh, that’s rich, coming from you.”
“You stop acting all high and mighty, alright?” He raised his voice, so you did too.
“What happened to the guy who fell to his knees begging Andy to save my life in there, huh? Where did he go? Why did he do such a 180?”
“You know exactly why,” he scoffed, shaking his head.
“I know,” you retorted, “but I’m asking why you think that.”
He shrugged, and you kept shouting at each other, a constant stream of accusations and insults bouncing off the metal walls of the Corbelan.
“I’m my own person, I don’t need to fill you in about every single thing that happens in my life,” you fumed.
“Ah, yes, here we go again.”
“What?”
“Your whole ‘none of your business’ attitude,” he mocked. “Like no one’s involved in this, eh?”
“Yeah, because this has nothing to do with the mission!” You yelled, your tone gaining a desperate edge, just wanting him to drop it altogether.
“Course not,” he laughed. “Cause the mission’s not putting you in danger. Or the baby.”
But of course things always had dire consequences for you. The two lines looked up at you from beside the sink like the insides of a snake’s eye. Like they were a mirrored image of what you had become.
“You alright in there?” Rain’s voice sounded from outside the bathroom.
“Uhh… Yeah, yeah, all good,” you reassured, and before she could say anything else, let alone do something, you stormed out of the room, bumping right into her.
“Oof— You had me scared there for a second,” she admitted with a tense chuckle, but you immediately played it down.
“You know how it is… Girl stuff. Such pain in the ass.”
A set of blue eyes immediately shot up from beside you. You could feel his stare on you, switching from your face to your stomach, burning into your skin.
“Tyler,” Rain said, her voice with an edge of disappointment.
“What?” He exclaimed, gesturing with his arms held out in front of his body and his shoulders raised.
“Yeah, really not cool, mate,” Bjorn agreed.
The fact that even Bjorn started defending you when he’d always been the shit stirrer of the group spoke volumes. And did not go unnoticed by Tyler.
“You,” he pointed at his cousin. “Don’t even start. None of your goddamn business!”
“Oh, really?” He accepted the challenge. “‘Cause you made it my business, mate.”
“Bjorn, don’t,” you warned, shooting him an alarming glare.
“No, no, no, he needs to hear this,” Bjorn stopped you. “You know what your girl did the night you dumped her like some piece of rubbish? You wanna know?”
“Bjorn!” You snapped, but he wouldn’t listen.
“You wanna know whose name she screamed that night?”
But Bjorn didn’t have to say more when Tyler already lunged at him.

THANK YOU! I just left after seeing it and that stuck out to me, like the only real phallic imagery the dudes dealt with was with the facehuggers slapping them when they're introduced (loved it since I feel like the phallic/yonic imagery of facehuggers in the last few films was downplayed, but I felt like it only happened cause there were no women in the room).
The whole point of the original film was that this is a monster that rapes its way into you and rapes its way out of you. Then proceeds to do so to a male character and there's no way to avoid or remove it. The creators even stated they wanted to put the fear of rape and pregnancy into male viewers. Having the female characters be the ones to experience the sexualized imagery goes against those roots and the point of things. From slipping on the condom-esque shed skin to the removal of the facehugger as you said, it just didn't seem right.
That said, I did like how the film is finally really tilting into the synthetic rights and human bigotry issue. The other films play with it and we get small bits here and there (Call's poked and prodded at, there are apparently slurs for them, we get hints of the turmoil regarding synthetics v humans after Ripley's death, David is driven by his superiority complex and irritation at 'lesser beings' ordering him around, and of course the Ripley arc with Ash/Bishop that comes off a little as 'He's one of the good ones') but aside from it being used to explain why David is so duplicitous and evil it's not shown as a concern. To the characters, artificial humans are just things and they can treat them any way they want. Bishop's good because he can't hurt people the way an old model like that gross Ash can. Call's good because she wants to help humans. Artificial humans are only good as long as they are on the side of the in-story humans, even if the humans treat them like dirt and if the reason they're acting that way is because other humans forced them to.
Despite not liking how the ending finished it, Andy's plot is a great step with this. He's a discarded and damaged unit, programmed for only one thing: do what's best for Rain. He gets attacked by random people, has to be rebooted constantly, and at first we're lead to believe Rain is a good person through her actions with him. Then we get to see another character constantly harass him and we see Rain get disturbed in that character's favor because she's more concerned that synthetics can apparently harm humans when it's a needs of the many situation than she is that her friend's cousin is using grief as an excuse to harass her brother.
When Andy gets rebooted to help them, the cast seems far more concerned that they can't order him around anymore instead of caring for his welfare. He may be under the orders of the company, but he's still keeping them from making decisions that would get them all killed. All of the deaths don't come from Andy's reboot, they come from dumb decisions the humans make- proving Rook's point in a horrible manner.
We even find out Rain was going to ditch Andy for the planet since it has anti-synthetic laws: something everyone knew but him. Everyone was comfortable using him as a tool to get to this planet, knowing they would be leaving a vulnerable individual behind (possibly to get destroyed again) and did not care because he isn't a 'real person'.
I didn't like them resetting Andy back again at the end and treating it like a good thing. I would have preferred some different way, like him going against orders or finding a loophole. The worst part was Rain adding the new mission: she could have done that the whole time and didn't. I want to like it cause it makes her character real fucked up, but the movie clearly had no idea that part was since it plays it as heartwarming.
Sorry did not expect to type this much, but I really hope this stuff gets expanded on in the next film as well. I know humans vs artifical beings is done a lot, but the Alien universe seems to just tease interesting parts and ideas with it before pulling back. It's nice to see things being expanded on more.
I could just be reading the room wrong but it seems from their reactions like a lot of people are coming out of Alien Romulus only just now realising the Alien movies are actually about capitalism and sexual violence.

alien romulus, andy, racism, and why robots are autistic
this is an introspective into how the alien series treats artificial humans, also known as synthetics, and how sci-fi portrays androids in general. alien romulus spoilers under cut. written by a native autistic and disabled fan <3
andy from alien romulus is an artificial human that is constantly being seen as less because of his race (artificial human) and who often portrays autistic characteristics. these characteristics include an aversion to loud sounds, difficulty reading social cues, and a special interest in dad jokes.
his behavior is explained by him being a “damaged” artificial human, which is somewhat disappointing. it’s disappointing that these traits that so many of us autistic people have are considered flaws in the context of the movie.
his sister, who is human, takes him for granted and chooses her life over his, even though he shows emotions and was apart of her family. even though it isn’t outright stated, this kind of reminds me how sometimes we as autistic people are seen as a burden on our families, despite us being able to care for ourselves.
once andy gets rook’s chip inserted he becomes “better”. “better” motor skills, “better” intelligence, and “better” everything. but yet, he still portrays autistic characteristics. he doesn’t go from autistic to not autistic, he just starts displaying different autistic traits. he is very knowledgeable about tech, aliens, and the human body, while being very objective about what the right thing to do is. instead of being a very empathetic person, he is a very practical and calculating person, which i think is super interesting.
honestly, i think it would have been really interesting to see him be the sole survivor. to have him get his revenge on the sister that betrayed him and the world who bullied him for his raise and ability.
okay now to androids, synthetics, and robots as a whole. robots are seen as cold and emotionless, similarly to how autistic people are seen, so many ai and robot characters are autistic coded. robots don’t have compassion or empathy in the eyes of the general public, same as autistic people. many autistic people have reclaimed robot characters to represent us, and i think that’s fantastic !!
i specifically love artificial humans in the alien franchise because they showcase so much depth and empathy, while still displaying autistic traits. and beyond that, most of these artificial humans are enslaved by a corporation (weyland yutani), and despite direct programming from their oppressors, most artificial humans end up doing the right moral thing in the end, further proving their humanity. despite being technically non human, i genuinely think they’re good autistic representation. do i like the way that the characters around them treat them ? no. but i think that might be the point. the point is that these characters are ableist and racist and shouldn’t be considered morally correct. i think that the writers could convey this in a better way though.
okay. racism discussion time. several times throughout this series we encounter artificial humans, and almost every time they have to correct their peers on the right terminology to use for them. as a native person who has had to tell multiple people (coworkers, professors, etc.) not to call me an indian, this really stuck with me growing up, and i still think it’s interesting to this day. in alien: romulus andy’s sister uses “synthetic” to refer to him MULTIPLE TIMES, after he’s stated that he prefers artificial human. this is important, because even though he’s family she still does not fully understand what he goes through and she does not respect his identity or boundaries.
there are also multiple instances throughout the series where characters (our beloved ripley included) have prejudice against artificial humans because of bad experiences with artificial humans in the past. this causes human characters to attack and/or harass artificial humans who they have just met for no other reason than their race. in alien: romulus we see a character be hostile towards andy because another unrelated artificial human made a choice to save the many over the few, and his mother died. this is a choice that many humans would make and would not be blamed for. this reflects the real world, where people of color are blamed for almost every choice they make, while white folks can make the same choices and not be criticized.
in conclusion, i love the character of andy and i think him and the alien franchise as a whole is so interesting. let me know if you want a deep dive into the themes of sexual violence, birth, and motherhood in the alien series !! i’ve done a whole research paper on it, and my college admissions essay was about the alien queen, so i know quite a lot !! i hope this drives a lot more fans towards the alien fandom and i hope a bunch more merch comes out !! yippee !!

Pairings: Rain Carradine X Fem!Reader
Warnings: Jealous Reader
Word Count: 1027
Life on Jackson's Star was a gritty mix of endless work and fleeting moments of reprieve, where the dusty, metallic corridors echoed with the clanking of machinery and the chatter of miners. Amidst this stark backdrop, your relationship with Rain Carradine blossomed into something that felt almost out of place with its warmth and genuineness.
Rain was strong, capable, and fiercely protective, not just of her synthetic brother Andy but of you as well. Her friendship with Tyler, her former partner and a prominent figure in the mining crew, had initially seemed unremarkable to you. However, as time went on, their easy camaraderie began to gnaw at you, the seeds of jealousy sprouting unchecked.
You'd watch them during breaks, sharing jokes and reminiscing about past missions, their laughter a stark contrast to the usual din of the miners’ mess hall. The more you observed, the more your imagination painted pictures of a past perhaps better left behind, stirring a restlessness within you that you couldn't shake off.
One evening, compelled by a mix of curiosity and unsettling thoughts, you approached Andy. Despite his challenges with speech and the obvious difficulties his synthetic nature sometimes posed in social settings, Andy had a way of understanding human emotions, perhaps better than most humans themselves.
"Andy," you started, hesitating as you chose your words carefully, "did Rain and Tyler... were they together? Like, before?"
Andy's eyes, always so expressive despite the rest of his face remaining eerily impassive, flickered with something that might have been discomfort. "Yes," he stuttered, his voice mechanical yet tinged with a hint of warmth. "But it was a long time ago. Things change."
His confirmation hit harder than expected. You tried to laugh it off, to dismiss the tightening in your chest as just a silly overreaction. "Thanks, Andy. Just curious, you know?"
But curiosity wasn't easily sated. At the next community gathering in the recreation hall—a rare moment of leisure on the harsh mining planet—you spotted Kay, Tyler's vivacious sister, and decided on a reckless course of action. Flirting with Kay, you hoped, might just give you the answers you needed, or at least draw some kind of reaction out of Rain.
Kay, with her easy smile and flirtatious demeanor, was a willing participant in your charade. You laughed at her jokes, touched her arm lightly, and played the part of someone smitten. From the corner of your eye, you could see Rain watching, her expression unreadable.
Later, as you and Rain walked back to your quarters along the dimly lit paths of the colony, she broke the silence. "Seems like you and Kay were getting along well tonight," she said, her tone light but with an undercurrent of something else—was it amusement? Concern?
You bristled, defensive and still wound up from your own concocted drama. "What about you and Tyler? Seems like old times, huh?"
Rain stopped walking, turning to face you under the faint glow of the overhead lamps. Her laugh, when it came, was genuine and full of warmth. "Are you jealous?" she asked, stepping closer, her eyes searching yours.
As Rain's question hung in the air between you, a cool breeze whistled through the narrow passages of Jackson's Star, stirring the dust around your feet. "Are you jealous?" she repeated, her voice a gentle tease that echoed slightly off the metal walls surrounding you.
Caught off guard by her directness and the earnest look in her eyes, your initial reaction was to deflect, but the sincerity in her gaze held you in place. Before you could respond, Rain stepped closer, closing the small gap that the conversation had widened between you. Her hands reached up, resting lightly on your cheeks, her touch sending a familiar warmth through you that contrasted sharply with the chill of the evening.
With a tenderness that always seemed at odds with the harsh environment of the mining colony, Rain leaned in. Her lips met yours in a kiss that was soft at first, hesitant, as if giving you room to pull away. But you didn’t. Instead, you found yourself leaning into the kiss, deepening it, your hands moving to encircle her waist and pull her closer.
Rain responded in kind, her movements confident, her lips pressing more firmly against yours. The kiss grew from tender to fervent, a mingling of relief and passion. It was the kind of kiss that spoke of deep connections and unspoken promises, a reassurance of her feelings amid the whirlwind of doubts that had clouded your mind.
The world around you seemed to quiet, the usual hum of the colony fading into a distant backdrop to the intensity of the moment. Rain's kiss chased away the shadows of jealousy, filling the spaces with an affirming warmth that seeped deep into your bones.
When you finally broke apart, breathless and a little dazed, Rain’s smile was radiant under the sparse light of the colony’s lamps. "I mean it," she said, her forehead resting against yours as she caught her breath. "It’s always been you."
In that moment, with Rain’s affirmation still tingling on your lips, the earlier tension dissolved, leaving a clarity that brightened the dark paths of Jackson's Star. Her laughter, light and freeing, bubbled up between you, and you couldn't help but laugh with her, the sound mingling with the night air.
The path back to your quarters was filled with a comfortable silence, the type that comes when no words are necessary to fill the space between two people. Rain’s hand in yours felt like a vow, a silent promise that no misunderstanding could break the bond you shared.
As Andy turned to give you both a subtle thumbs up before heading off to give you some privacy, you realized how deeply integrated into your life Rain had become. Her presence was a constant source of strength and comfort, just as you hoped to be for her.
Your journey together on Jackson's Star might be filled with challenges, but moments like these, stolen under the artificial stars of the colony, reminded you that as long as you were together, there was nothing you couldn’t face.
