New Album: Long Walks and Short Tangents
Hey Everyone! N0n-B1nary here. I'm very happy to announce that my first album, "Long Walks and Short Tangents" is now available on Spotify!
This album has a pretty wide range of instrumental themes, but most are in the softer, lofi categories that are great to study , write, do chores or just zone out to. Two of the songs, "Translating an Akkadian Script with the help of Some Cheap Coffee" and "Sometimes Letting Go Of Your Past Means Crossing Mountain Ranges And Barbed Wire" were directly inspired by two characters from the fantastic Syntax Podcast made by @twinstrangersp , who are starting their crowdfunding campaign for season 3! Huge shout-out for their continued encouragement and support!

Happy audio drama Sunday! I know I’ve been a little absent online recently, but there are some shows that I really need to yell about this week
First of all, @twinstrangersp are currently crowdfunding for Syntax S3, and need your help to reach their goal! https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/syntax-season-three#/
If you’ve heard the first two seasons, you KNOW they’ve got some fantastic stuff in store for us. And if you haven’t? Now’s the time to give them a listen before the crowdfund ends - their S2 crowdfund was what got me hooked on the show, and I’m so glad it did 🥰
Also, I’m still not emotionally recovered from @monkeymanproductions Moonbase Theta, Out finale. I won’t say too much about it yet because a) spoilers for anyone who hasn’t listened yet, and b) there are epilogues coming.
But god, this has been such a beautiful story from the start. MTO is one of the first ADs I ever listened to, and it’s the one that stuck with me most vividly. I remember exactly where I was when I was listening to the first season, what the weather was like, which house I was in (I’ve moved a lot), what I was doing during each finale.
It would be easy for a show like that to have a disappointing ending, but no. The finale beautifully reinforces everything this show stands for for - community, radical hope, small victories against seemingly untouchable oppressors. I’m forever grateful that this story exists for me to revisit (and I will be revisiting, often).
And finally, I know I’m late to this one but I’ve been powering through Greater Boston in time for their live-show at London Podcast Festival this evening! I don’t know why I waited so long to listen, this show is hilarious, chaotic as hell, and has made me cry an alarming number of times considering a main plot arc is “cheese robots”
I’ll be at LPF tonight watching @ameliapodcast @greaterblogston and @wefixspacejunk and idk about you but I can’t think of a more perfect way to spend my Sunday evening ☺️

Fiction Podcast of the week:
Syntax
(by Twin Strangers Production)
Impression (so far): kinda like The Magnus Archives meets Annihilation (the book, not the movie) - in a good way!
Themes: sometimes tense/spooky/scary, bit of Sci-fi, bit of action, and a lot of exploration of a strange dangerous wilderness, backed by a questionable organisation. Believable team bonding (maybe future found family??), natural character interactions :)
Voices: Has one main character but the show is carried by a core cast. So far I've been able to follow the story without issues, despite me normally struggling to recognise several voices. If it really matters who is talking they do a good job of telling you who speaks.
Length: Episodes are between 30-60 mins. As of August 2023 there are 27 episodes, crowdfunding for the next season was just announced.
Overall/other commentary: I'm on episode 10 so far and I haven't been this exited about character interaction, pacing, ongoing plot threads and the frequency with which each of them is continued in a long time!! It's easy to follow but exiting/mystery driven enough to not get boring or predictable. Characters acknowledge the recording and why they verbally describe things more than would be normal, and the show has a good hook for why that is. It feels natural and makes sense :) The main character is a linguist and we get mythology/records of an unknown past civilisation which is absolutely my personal highlight whenever it comes up!

[ad_1] Mastering Solidity Fuel Effectivity: Superior Strategies for Maximizing Fuel Effectivity in Ethereum Sensible ContractsSolidity gasoline optimization is a pivotal factor within the realm of cutting-edge contract growth throughout the Ethereum blockchain. 💹🔗 Fuel, on this context, represents the computational effort wanted to execute operations in a wise contract. As gasoline immediately correlates to transaction charges, the artwork of gasoline optimization is prime for price discount and general effectivity enhancement in sensible contracts. 💰💡Mastering Solidity Gas EfficiencySolidity, the lingua franca of Ethereum sensible contracts, introduces a myriad of methods and greatest practices to grasp gasoline optimization. These methods contain meticulous contract design, savvy knowledge storage, and exact code execution — all aimed toward trimming gasoline consumption.By deploying these gasoline optimization techniques, builders can supercharge the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of their sensible contracts. This entails harnessing becoming knowledge varieties and storage buildings, sidestepping redundant computations, capitalizing on contract design paradigms, and exploiting tailored capabilities crafted to maximise gasoline effectivity. 🛠️📉Photograph by WeSideTrip on Unsplash👉 However What's Solidity?Solidity, designed expressly for setting up sensible contracts throughout blockchain platforms, boasts Ethereum as its prime stomping floor. Crafted by Christian Reitwiessner, Alex Beregszaszi, and Ethereum core maestros, Solidity operates atop the Ethereum Digital Machine (EVM).Some of the user-friendly instruments within the Solidity toolbox is Remix, a browser-based Built-in Growth Surroundings (IDE). Remix lets builders craft, deploy, and run Solidity sensible contracts, whereas offering highly effective options for debugging and testing. 💻🛠️A Solidity contract brings collectively capabilities and state knowledge at a selected Ethereum blockchain handle. This allows builders to sculpt various purposes, from voting methods and crowdfunding platforms to multi-signature wallets and blind auctions. Solidity’s syntax, drawing inspiration from standard languages like JavaScript and C++, is a boon for builders with prior coding expertise. Its capacity to implement guidelines and execute autonomous actions sans intermediaries makes Solidity a formidable pressure for DApp creation on blockchain platforms. 🚀📱🧐 So, What’s the Buzz About Fuel and Fuel Optimization in Solidity?Fuel is Ethereum’s bedrock idea, functioning because the yardstick for computational effort expended throughout the community. Every course of in a Solidity sensible contract gobbles up a certain quantity of gasoline, with the cumulative gasoline spend shaping the contract initiator’s transaction charge. Solidity gasoline optimization is all about methods to reduce the gasoline consumption in sensible contract code, bolstering cost-effectiveness.This endeavor can shrink transaction charges, stage up contract efficiency, and remodel your purposes into lean, imply, effectivity machines. Fuel optimization inside Solidity focuses on taming computational complexity, eradicating redundant operations, and fine-tuning knowledge storage. Using gas-savvy knowledge buildings, avoiding pointless calculations, and optimizing loops and iterations all add as much as diminished gasoline consumption. ⛽📉Furthermore, chopping down on exterior calls to different contracts, embracing gas-savvy Solidity patterns like stateless capabilities, and harnessing gasoline measurement and profiling instruments are your allies within the quest for gasoline optimization. Adapting methods based on community and platform dynamics, together with congestion and upgrades, is vital to staying forward of the gasoline price recreation.Solidity gasoline optimization is a dance of iteration, evaluation, testing, and refinement. By wielding these methods and greatest practices, builders can morph their
Solidity sensible contracts into financial marvels, elevating their purposes’ general effectivity and cost-effectiveness throughout the Ethereum community. 🛠️💹💡💰 Diving Deeper into Crypto Fuel ChargesCrypto gasoline charges signify the transactional dues particular to clever contract blockchains, with Ethereum because the pioneer of this idea. But, at present, many different Layer-1 blockchains, resembling Solana, Avalanche, and Polkadot, have additionally embraced gasoline charges. Customers entrance these charges to compensate validators for his or her community safety efforts. These charges are revealed to customers earlier than they green-light transactions on these blockchain networks. In contrast to vanilla transaction charges, gasoline charges are settled utilizing the native cryptocurrency of the respective blockchain. Ethereum gasoline charges, for instance, are measured in ETH, whereas the Solana blockchain calls for SOL tokens for transaction settlement. From sending ETH to a good friend and minting an NFT to utilizing DeFi companies like decentralized exchanges, customers should foot the invoice. These charges symbolize the computational effort essential to execute operations on the blockchain, incentivizing validators for his or her position in securing the community. 💱🔐Solidity gasoline optimization methods are the holy grail for shaving off extra gasoline consumption in Solidity sensible contract code. Embracing these methods is akin to trimming transaction prices, ramping up contract efficiency, and making your purposes future-proof. 🚀📉1. Mapping is King Over Arrays 👑📊— Within the Ethereum Digital Machine (EVM), mappings usually outshine arrays in gasoline optimization. Whereas collections might eat extra gasoline for operations like size retrieval or parsing all components, they ship better flexibility in particular contexts. Whenever you want direct key-value lookups, mappings are your greatest good friend, due to environment friendly storage and retrieval.2. Pack Your Variables 🧳🧩— Ethereum’s storage utilization price hinges on the variety of storage slots used. You possibly can optimize this by declaring packable variables consecutively in your code. The compiler and optimizer will deal with the remainder, making certain environment friendly storage utilization and diminished gasoline prices.3. Reduce Exterior Calls 📞🔀— Calling exterior contracts in Solidity is a gas-expensive affair. To optimize, consolidate knowledge retrieval right into a single perform name fairly than making separate requires every knowledge factor. This diverges from standard programming practices however proves strong in Solidity, ushering in cost-effective and environment friendly sensible contracts.4. uint8 vs. uint256 Dilemma 💭💲— EVM processes knowledge in 32-byte or 256-bit chunks. When working with smaller variables like uint8, the EVM converts them to the extra huge uint256 sort, incurring extra gasoline prices. For lone variables that can not be packed, utilizing uint256 is extra optimum, making certain gasoline effectivity and aligning with the EVM’s capabilities.5. Use bytes32 over string/bytes 📝📤— When knowledge can match inside 32 bytes, select the bytes32 knowledge sort over bytes or strings. Mounted-size variables like bytes32 supply substantial gasoline financial savings in comparison with variable-sized varieties. This alternative averts additional storage and computational prices, granting extra environment friendly reminiscence allocation.6. Leverage Exterior Operate Modifiers 🛡️🔍— Mark public capabilities meant for exterior calls as “exterior” within the code. This prevents the copying of perform parameters into reminiscence and ends in important gasoline financial savings when coping with massive enter parameters.7. Grasp the Brief Circuit Rule 🎯🔌— The order during which you place disjunctive and conjunctive operators can affect gasoline utilization. Correctly ordered capabilities scale back gasoline utilization by avoiding pointless computations.
Putting probably the most likely-to-succeed operation first can result in substantial gasoline financial savings. In conclusion, Solidity gasoline optimization is your gateway to cost-effective and environment friendly transactions when interacting with exterior contracts. By using the brief circuit rule, packing variables, and streamlining knowledge retrieval, customers can harness gasoline optimization methods that assure environment friendly and budget-friendly execution of their contracts.Central banks, too, stand to realize from these methods, decreasing transaction prices and elevating the efficiency of their sensible contracts. Builders, armed with these Solidity-specific methods, can guarantee optimized gasoline utilization and profitable transactions. 👍💼💰Optimizing gasoline consumption in Solidity is your secret weapon for cost-effective transactions and revolutionary contract interactions. By leveraging the brief circuit rule, packing variables, and consolidating knowledge retrieval, you'll be able to unlock the true potential of your contracts and propel them to new heights of effectivity. 🚀🔥💡So, fellow builders, roll up your sleeves, dive into the world of Solidity, and grasp the artwork of gasoline optimization to create a brighter, extra environment friendly blockchain future! 💪🌐🌟 [ad_2]

Queerness in Creation
For Syntax's crowdfunding today, we'd like to highlight one of the major components we try to highlight in TSP -- diversity! Everyone has a special voice, and we're proud to say that a large majority of our cast and crew are a part of the LGBTQIA+ community!
We strive to normalize queer voices in media -- in and out of the stories we create -- and hope that we can aid the queer community in helping their dreams become reality. Syntax was created to be a story that has a queer relationship at its core, and canon non-binary representation in one of its main characters. We stand for and with diversity, and aim to curate a community who is supportive of the same ideals as we are! If you'd like to support queer, indie creators, consider checking out our show, or support our crowdfund!
Here's the link for you all, once again <3 We are so incredibly elated with the support we've received thus far! Thank you!
