Magical Studies (Sylvain X Male Reader)
Tumblr media
“Your swinging is horrible.”
“I know. Why do you think I use magic?”
“And yet the professor wanted for you to train in swords.” Felix frowns. He feels he’s being held back from his regular training by helping his younger brother.
“Maybe he wants me to be a Trickster or Mortal Savant? Well, whatever, I probably stick with magic anyway.”
“Fine by me. Still, the professor egged me on to help you. Let’s not waste time, so you better focus.” As both men draw out their swords, someone else joins the training ground, causing the swordman to scowl. “No.”
“I haven’t even said anything.” Sylvain quickly defends himself.
“My apologizes. You meant to train here, huh?” Felix looks at Sylvain, who awkwardly looks at him. “Thought so.”
“I was just wondering how you two are doing. Thought I would check up you two.”
“I’m horrible.” Y/N comments.
“And now I’m training him right now. Meaning you’re interrupting.” Felix coldly says to his friend.
“Well, maybe you should get a different teacher.”
Felix glares at the taller man. “You’re saying this is my fault?”
“No, I didn’t mean that.” Sylvain quickly clarifies himself. “I thought maybe it would be better for Y/N to have a different way to learn.”
Felix hums. “I can see that.” Without a warning, he hands over the sword to Sylvain. “Here.”
“W-What?” Sylvain looks surprised. “You want me to teach him?”
“Yes, but knowing you, it probably won’t work.”
“But I don’t use swords.”
“Good. You’re on equal level. Maybe you can figure it out together.” Felix looks at his younger brother, who’s stunned his older brother would do this. “Talk you later.” Thus, he walks away and out of the room.
“Wait! Felix!” Sylvain wanted him to change his mind, but deep down, he knows it will do nothing. After sigh, he looks back at the younger Fraldarius. “Your brother is a handful.”
“Imaging living with him for your entire life.” Y/N cracks up a smirk. “So… are we going to train, or…?”
“Sure. Why not?”
They get into their places and begin sparring. Of course, they begin slowly. Though they slowly build up the pace, bit by bit. Everything has been going well, until one incident.
“What the-!?” Sylvain gasp as he quickly looks back, where he sees Y/N’s sword hanging against the wall.
“Oh my-! Are you alright!?”
“Did you just threw the sword at me?” The redhead looks back at his friend.
“I-It just slipped!” Y/N quickly excuses himself. “It was an accident! I swear!”
“It’s alright.” Sylvain calms him down, but Y/N still feel guilty. “How about we take a break?”
They decided to go outside after putting the swords away. That’s when they walk around the Monastery. While they chat, Y/N rents about the entire situation.
“I almost killed Felix too. Multiple times. He called me a moron in return.”
“Don’t fret about it.” Sylvain continues to feel his friend better. “You’re maybe a bad swordsman, but you’re still good mage.”
“The best.” Y/N says with full confidence. “I got straight A’s in the School of Sorcery back in Fhirdiad. Mercedes and Annette would say that too.” He let out a sigh. “Why can’t the professor see that?”
“Someone sounds full of confidence.” Sylvain find it funny the total shift of mood.
“I’m a modest guy, but I take pride in my magic.” Y/N explains. “I studied every type of magic. Whether it’s reason, faith or dark. I even create my own spells.”
“You can do that?” Sylvain sounds impressed. “What did you make?”
“Let’s see… I made a spell that shoots a beam of ice. One that tangles enemies with vines. But I also made spells that are used out of combat. Like one that cleans object, increases one’s charm, turn bad food into good one-”
“Wait a sec. Increases someone’s charm?” Sylvain is intrigued of how he can use this for picking up the ladies.
Y/N regrets confessing one of his spells. “I’m not going to let you bother any more girls.”
“C’mon! How about we see this as an experiment?” Sylvain suggests. “Say, what if we use the spell in order to neutralize the enemy without any shed of blood. Won’t that better the world?”
Y/N can’t believe Sylvain slimed his way to convince him to do it. “Fine, but only for a better world.”
-
Both men are standing at the marketplace, where they try their experiment. There are a couple of female students at the stall, in which Sylvain is intrigued by.
“You sure about this? I’m not finalizing the spell, so you might get results you don’t like.”
“Nothing permanently?”
“I sure hope not…”
“Fine by me.” Sylvain carelessly ignores the potential risk. “Let the experiment begin.”
“Alright.” A purple magic circle appears in front of Y/N and a purple shine lands on Sylvain.
The philander quickly looks around his body, seeing nothing changed. Nor does he feel hurt or changed. “…Does it work?” There isn’t a respond of Y/N. Thus, he looks back at him, seeing him look away with his face red. “Are you blushing?”
“S-Shut it!”
“Wow, you totally are!” Sylvain looks impressed. “The spell worked!”
“I increased your natural pheromones… and it looks like it worked.” Y/N tries his best to act normal. “J-Just go flirt with the girls already!”
Sylvain chuckles. “Don’t mind if I do.”
The man leaves Y/N and heads towards the stall, where he chats with the girls. Though he quickly notices that the girls aren’t responding like Y/N did. However, he did get some odd gazes from the male students. Feeling like he figured what the risk is, he returns back to Y/N, who looked normal first, before he shies away.
“The spell only works on guys!”
“I-It does!?” Y/N looks surprised. “I probably changed the pheromones to focus on guys…”
Before Sylvain could respond, one of their classmates passes by. Being polite as he usually is, Ashe decided to say hi, only to instantly notice the strange aura. “H-Hey guys. Y-You two having a good day?”
This confirms Sylvain’s suspicion. Y/N surely noted this. “We’re good. We’re heading to the dorms. See you later.”
-
Y/N and Sylvain heads to the bathhouse to get rid of the pheromones, thus breaking the spell. That’s what at least Y/N thinks. Ones there, the redhead prepares himself to go in the bath, which happens to be empty. Before undressing himself, he notices Y/N heading the exit.
“You’re not coming?”
“First, you’re teasing me with the entire spell. And now, you want to join you in a bath, while the spell is still active?”
“I don’t see the problem. Aren’t you supposed to confirm that the spell breaks with this?”
“You’re such a-” Y/N let out a grunt. “Fine… Wonder how you treat me if I were a girl?”
“Probably worse.” Sylvain says with a smirk.
They change their clothes and get into the bath, with Y/N staying away from Sylvain, who’s putting his entire body in the water. After coming out of the water, he looks back.
“They’re still there?”
Y/N gets closer, only then having an answer. “Y-Yes. Just continue putting your head underwater.”
Sylvain continues to clean himself from the pheromones. After a while, after his entire body is drenched by the hot water, he looks back at Y/N, awaiting for an answer. The spellcaster gets closer.
“It’s gone.” Y/N comments.
“Thank goodness. Now I don’t have to worry about guys like you smothering over me. But I guess you still will do so.”
“You think I’m into you?” Y/N says with a smirk. “We will be an awful couple. You will just cheat with any girl that passes by.”
“You really think that low on me?” Sylvain acts offended. “Like you don’t have your own baggage. Your brother will probably kill me if we were together.”
Y/N then smirks. “Now that you point that out, maybe we should be together.”
Sylvain chuckles. “Fine by me.”
-
After a long bath, the two guys continue spending their day together. As they approach the dining hall, they get approach by someone, reminding them that they completely forgot their training.
“Well? Did you learn something?”
“A lot.” Sylvain quickly pitches in. “…Just nothing revolving around sword fighting.”
“I’m not disappointed. Just confirming your lackless attitude.” Felix says coldly.
Y/N frowns. “Can’t you stop acting so rude.”
“Can’t you just do something as easy as practice. I can’t have your back the entire time.” Felix explains. “You need to learn to be independent.”
“I am.” Y/N argues back. “Maybe if you look less on what I can’t do and instead look on what I can, you know I’m more than capable.” The younger man let out an annoyed huff before leaving.
Felix let out a groan. “That idiot…”
“You should treat him less hard. He’s still a kid.” Sylvain defends his friend.
“We’re here for a reason. We’re not kids anymore, nor should we act like one.” Felix still holds up his stance. “He should realize that.” With that, he walks away, leaving Sylvain wondering what’s up with Felix, and how he could help Y/N.
-
Y/N is again practicing again at the training ground, where he swings his sword. Still, he doesn’t feel confident about it. He then sensed someone joining him. As he looks back, he sees Sylvain, as well the professor.
“Oh, hello professor. Sylvain.” Y/N nods to his friend.
“I heard you were having trouble with the sword. I didn’t knew you needed more guidance.” Byleth kindly says.
“I told him.” Sylvain admits. “Felix was complaining about the entire thing, and I know I’m not the one that can teach you, so I went to the teacher.”
Y/N smiles. “Thank you.”
“Next time when you’re having trouble, go to me.” Byleth adds.
“Looks like all that ends well.” Sylvain smiles. “Let me know if you need something.”
As he tries to walk away, Byleth speaks up. “Hold up. I think this an opportunity for you to learn a thing or two.”
Sylvain sighs. “Better luck next time…”
-
Some days has passed, and Y/N and Sylvain are swinging blows. The taller man can tell the spellcaster become better. Ever since their private tutor with the professor, Y/N’s sword affinity become better. His swings become smoother, faster and stronger. His stance as well become better. Sylvain would even admit he’s better then him. That definitely proves the current match, where Y/N uses Hexblade to destroy Sylvain’s training sword.
“What the-!?” Sylvain looks shocked.
“I did it!” Y/N smiles. “I recently learned that move. And now I will use it.” He gives a mischievous smirk. “Those bandits won’t know what will hit them.”
“I never think I will see the day where you act like a hotshot.” Sylvain responds. “Congratulations.”
“Thank you! Oh, and also thank you for your support. If only Felix would act more like you. …Without your bad parts.”
Sylvain laughs. “I can wish the same. Maybe you can call me your big brother instead?”
“Absolutely not. You’re more like… umm… a very good friend.”
“Just a very good friend?”
“Maybe.” Y/N smirks back. “I would consider you a good husband if you cut down with the flirting.”
“And what if I stop?” Sylvain asks.
“Action tells more than words.” Y/N says. “I guess only time will tell I can view you not only as a trustfully friend, but as something more.”
“Sounds like a challenge, and I sure like to take one. How about a warming up? We can go to the dining hall and get some food.”
“Sounds like a good idea. We can celebrate my victory.”

Assalaam alaikum (its a traditional greeting from where I’m currently staying) This is my angsty request:
Can I request yandere ex-fiance sylvain x betrothed reader. For context, Sylvain and reader were betrothed at a young age by their families to conjoin the families. We all know how sylvain hated being his family and seen as crest stud so he will hate reader too who bears a crest and is part of the reason why he is being force to marry early. Reader on the other hand is dutifully fulfilling their role as sylvain’s fiancé as they don’t want any of their siblings to suffer in their place. Reader cooks sylvain’s favorite food, invites him for teas and all kinds of couple activities. Sylvain being himself decides to flirt with other girls despite having a fiancé already and is skirt chaser with new girls every week just to spite reader and his father. Seeing how their fiancé doesn’t even respect them as a person and is often caught in indecent scandals, reader is hurt as they’re the only ones trying to make something good in the unfortunate situation but is hated by sylvain. One day reader after being stood up by sylvain once again is comforted by one of the kinder students (ashe, dedue or ignatz even) and they fell genuinely in love with the student. How does sylvain feel that reader is no longer trying to make the relationship work and is now interested in other men and frankly speaking replace him in their heart? How would he get the reader back?
-Thank you for reading my request (I’m so excited that you’re doing three houses, do you still remember the anon that sent the jing yuan x neglected wife reader request, that was me. It was such a long time ago, and your blog has grown since then. This request has similar vibes but I see Sylvain to be the kind of yandere that needs a wake up call to snap into yandere mode)
*Gasp*, so it's you who requested that, nice knowing that you still read from me, Sylvain is actually one of my favorite fe3h characters, 4th place in fact😆
Hope you'll enjoy😄
Trigger Warning: Yandere, Obsessive behaviour, Possessive behaviour
The arrengement happened before either of you were born, that didn't mean that Sylvain didn't hate this situation, he hated it more than anything else, and the only thing he could take his anger out on was you, it was stupid and even he knew that, but he was a child and that was all he could do.
Sylvain ignored you, he hated you, sure it was the situation he really hated but it was you it effected, the two of you should be a couple but this whole situation had made you feel lonlier than ever before. You had to go through with his angry looks and indifferent responses for so so long.
"Just go away, I don't have time for you today"
But that didn't mean that you didn't try, you tried so damn hard to make this not only easier for Sylvain but for you as well, if this was going to happen then why not make it a happy relationship at the very least, so you cooked for him, you stood up for him and what did you get in return, he ignored you, flirted with others and left you alone, over and over again, it was tiring but you held out, or you thought you could at least.
"I-I just don't understand what he has against me"
"There there, I am here to listen to each and every word, so vent all you want"
You had met Ignatz at yet another ball Sylvain had left you at, yet another party where everyone would laugh at you as soon as he left and you were all alone, that's when you met Ignatz who allowed you to rant about it, get everything you had been holding in for the last 10 years off your chest.
*THUMP* *THUMP*
A new spark had been ignited that day, not for Sylvain but for the kind boy who listened to you and comforted you when you needed it, he treated you with respect and kindness, much different to your fiance.
Someone who did take notice of this was Sylvain, you who were such a constant in his life was suddenly spending less and less time with him, you smiled at him less and less, and one day it had all dissapeared... he would admit, he missed it, missed you.
But Sylvain saw you with Ignatz, saw your smile not be directed at him your fiance, but at Ignatz, His heart clenched tightly, a painful feeling in his chest as he saw this, for some reason he felt like ripping the boy from the golden deer apart and get you back, he felt jealous.
Sylvain through jealousy realises what he had, and what he is losing right now, someone to love, someone that treated him with kindness, he feels saddened that he has pushed you away, why did he do that. Maybe it was too late now... you were leaving him...
... Wait you were still his fiance, you were still his, this arrangement was made by not one but two nobles, you couldn't break this off that easely, he will be better for you, he promises, Sylvain cleans up his act, stops flirting with others, now he just needs you to stop cheating on him and he will finally have happiness, with you tied to his side through marriage.
"You need to remember I am you fiance, our love was destined since birth, nothing will sepperate us, I will admit that I have acted stupid so far, but just because I have acted stupid doesn't mean you can cheat on me"

For the pride fics may I req Sylvain <3 i wanna be this mans gay awakening SO bad like with Alex from SDV <3
DENIAL IS A RIVER IN EGYPT SYLVAIN IS GAY
Tumblr media
Read on AO3:
Read Below:
Sylvain liked watching Kiran summon heroes from other worlds, he got a front row seat to seeing different versions of his friends, himself, and more importantly hot babes as they first arrived in Askr.
So he’s not confused when he sees a version of himself summoned, nor is he confused to see a version of you come with him. What confuses him just a bit is the way you’re clinging to the other Sylvain's arm tightly.
He watches as Kiran gives you both the regular explanation and welcome speech, although he notices neither of you really paying attention, too busy giggling among yourselves.
“So…Is there a pride festival here as well?”
It’s the sound of your voice talking to Kiran that snaps Sylvain out of his thoughts, and he realizes right away he’s blushing. Something about you hanging off the other hims arm has him blushing.
Sylvain’s never blushed because of another man before. There’s just something about the way you’re acting with him, another him, that has him blushing.
So he listens when you tell Kiran about your world, and the fact that your world was celebrating something called Pride.
“Sylvain?”
He had just been watching everyone else set up the festival when you’d found him.
“What’s up?” You smile gently at him.
This morning Kiran had summoned a new batch of heroes from another world, and those heroes had been celebrating something known as Pride with their own festival.
Askr being currently conflict free, and open as always decided to host their own Pride. You’ve spent the morning with the newly summoned heroes (Chrom and Robin, Ike and Sorin, and Edelgard and Byleth) putting up decorations, planning, and cooking.
All the while you’d noticed Sylvain hovering nearby, watching you.
“You didn’t happen to see who else was summoned, did you?” You become acutely aware of the fact that he’s blushing. You’ve never seen Sylvain blush before, even though he’s such a flirt with the ladies.
He has your full attention.
“No? Why?”
“No reason.” Syvain says quickly. Too quickly for your liking.
You squint at him.
“Who else was summoned?”
“No one!”
“I know you’re lying, Sylvain!”
“Kiran!”
You move to go around Sylvain and circumvent everything by just finding the summoner yourself only to be tackled by the red head.
“Don’t.” His voice is serious, but you can’t really focus on that, instead focusing on how close his face is to yours. The fact brings heat to your own face finally, and you nod quietly.
The pair of you stay like that for what feels like eternity, Sylvain glaring down at you, face inches from your own until you’re interrupted by laughter.
A pair of familiar laughter.
You look up to see yourself, another version of yourself who must have been summoned here, and another Sylvain, arm in arm laughing at the pair of you.
It suddenly clicks in your brain who Sylvain didn’t want you to see.
It was them.
The two of you from another world.
“Oh-”
Before you can confront him on it he’s gone, leaving you alone with the other worlds you.
The other you smiles softly, still laughing under their breath.
“Don’t worry about him,” They gesture to their Sylvain beside them. “He was like that long before we got together too.”

My favs of my work let's go
Okay this might be weird but while I'm so busy with other projects and sort of letting my writing battery recharge (getting small things done here and there but not stressing about it overly), I wanted to reshare some of my personal favs of my own work, just to like, idk... hype myself up and congratulate myself for once lmao. We creatives need to be a bit self-indulgent from time to time.
So yeah, if you're bored while I get my shit together and write again, maybe take a peak at these, or wander around my masterlists in my pinned post for something I might have done in the past for a fav of yours.
FE3H
Lorenz & Ignatz & Reader threesome - starting with what I suspect will be a trend with these because I'm a contrarian at heart, so when I realize a character I love isn't popular, I double and triple down and become determined to write them the hot, hot smut they deserve
Claude - Arranged Marriage - I really enjoyed doing an AU, and I'd def love to do more of them in the future. Plus Claude is the most fun and interesting of the main lords fight me about it.
Lorenz - Arranged Marriage - okay last Lorenz one but........ I'm just saying, he's a good boy y'all just can't acknowledge a glow-up when you see one.
Felix & Sylvain & Reader threesome - this is a short one but I just love the vibe and the dynamic between these lads it was so fun to write.
Seteth - Guilty Masturbation - I'm just such a sucker for repressed men dealing with their persistent lusts sorry not sorry
Seteth - Reader gets Aphrodesiac'd - okay I'm happy with this piece but also it holds a special place in my heart because for some reason, the porn bots are CONSTANTLY liking this thing specifically and I have no earthly idea why, they're just drawn to it.
Okay just one more Seteth thing it's the Priest x Succubus one - which I'm super happy with and I still sometimes think about writing a continuation for it because priest kink goes brrrrrrrrr
Things other than FE3H
Volke (FE 9/10) messy hookup - Volke is such an absolute man and it was such a joy to have an excuse to write him. Fandoms as a whole need to thirst for more sexy grown ass adults.
Reyson (FE 9/10) in heat - though this is kind of tied with the in heat one I did about Tibarn, which I also love. Bird men in heat..... that's what's up.
Kaeya (Genshin) w/ praise kink - Kaeya def remains my Genshin fav, and no amount of "Hoyo finally figuring out how to model an adult male body years into the game's run" will change that.
Luxord (Kingdom Heart) consensual non-con - it's just so rare that I get to write for my Org XIII lovelies and it's just so fun to write sex dialogue for such a resolutely sexless series lmao
Kurama (YYH) giving oral - I've written quite a lot for Kurama at this point (on here, mostly shorter drabbles and headcanons) and it's still always a pleasure, and I'm particularly fond of the subtle playfulness in this piece.
OCs! Shaeliegh and Terry - angsty hookup - I had SO much fun writing OC stuff for once and it's totally fine that others aren't as inclined to be into it, but I personally think it's some of my best work and enjoy rereading it frequently~

So I just noticed your most recent request (the Felix/Sylvain learning magic one). I was wondering if I could see the reverse? But like not taking place in the same story, if that makes sense. Like the reader (I'd prefer a male one) wanting to learn how to wield physical weapons to protect himself better so he asks Felix and/or Sylvain for help, maybe Ashe for bows as well cause he's a cinnamon roll
As stated in my rules, I only do two characters per request. From the way your ask is written, I prioritized Felix and Sylvain. If you like it, though, then please feel free to send in a separate ask for Ashe! I do this for time reasons and to spice things up (writing 3 fics back-to-back with the same concept without a break is a little draining.).
But aside from that, I'm glad you liked the other one! I have fallen in love with your concept just as much, but my goodness! This took me far longer to complete than I am happy to admit. I am aware that my main issue was synthesizing your request to a male reader, as I find them a little difficult to write for.
Regardless, I want you to love what I came up with! Requests are open, everyone, so don't be shy!
The stories will be continued under the cut.
Felix:
As you pushed open the doors to the training grounds, you weren’t surprised to find the expansive room was almost empty. The afternoon had turned to night, and most of your classmates were either wrapping up in the dining hall or preparing to rest.
Most of them.
"Training again, Felix?"
The blue-haired noble didn’t break his routine, cutting through the training dummies with the precision of a master. It wasn’t hard to admit that his skills were impressive for his age. Truly, the metal seemed to be a natural extension of his own arm.
"What?” he called, “Have you come to drag me elsewhere?"
"Actually, I was hoping I could spar with you."
At this, Felix dropped his sword arm to his side. He turned to you, raising a brow.
“Aren’t you usually preparing for bed at this time? You know that a quick skirmish isn’t going to chase me out of here any sooner, and I’m not about to waste my time with someone who isn’t at the top of their game.”
You let out a laugh, “Trust me, sleep is the last thing on my mind.”
It wasn’t quite true, you were definitely a little tired. Sleep wasn’t an option right now, though. You knew you needed to be here, but as soon as you entered the room, you forgot what you came for. That seemed to be happening a lot lately.
It has something to do with Felix, was all you remembered. Useful, as it meant you could keep him here until your memory returned. You hoped it would soon, lest you spend half the night with your feet on the ground.
“What are you waiting on, a map?” He began to move the practice dummy he had previously created a considerable dent in, “Go grab a weapon, unless you intend to fight with your fists.”
Migrating to the rack by the wall, you picked up an axe that looked as though it were in better condition than those around it.
Wrong. It has something to do with this. The axe is wrong.
Great. This was like trying to solve a puzzle whose final picture was blank. The answer was literally right in front of you, you could swear it! But then what were you meant to fight him with? A lance? You didn’t know how to use too many of the weapons within your line of sigh-
“You’ve been staring at that axe for about a minute now. Are you sure you’re not tired?”
Walking back towards him, your focus was entirely on the hatchet in your hand, “I swear, I’m not. I just…nevermind. Let’s do this.”
“Good, just don’t let it get in the way of our training,” the swordsman approached you, already pulling out a coin from his pocket.
“Oh don’t worry, you’re still getting your ass kicked. I call heads, by the way.”
The question in Felix’s eyes left him at your last remark. The coin was flipped, and sure enough, it landed on heads. You would be the first to attack, leaving Felix to begin in a defensive stance.
Both of you moved a few paces away from one another. The axe was familiar in your hands, but it felt wrong tonight as you placed your grip on the wooden base. This was an easy problem to overcome, you knew, as a simple feeling couldn’t detriment your performance too much. Still…
“Ready.” you nodded.
Felix echoed your confirmation once he had taken a more athletic pose, and the first bout began.
You charged forward, a plan in your head as you swung your axe over your head and down onto Felix. He leapt back, then changed his momentum towards you. The blade of his sword slashed once, then twice as you dodged backwards both times. The blade of your own weapon was still on the ground where it had landed earlier, your grip on the pole keeping it exactly where you wanted it to be.
Once more you rushed at him, only this time, you spun the blade 180 degrees on the floor and brought it up and forward. With your momentum charging the upsweep of the wooden blade, Felix didn’t have the time to dodge out of the way. It clipped him in the arm, where his shoulder was attached to it.
“Point,” he called.
Wordlessly, you walked past each other to switch positions. It was your turn to defend from his assault.
“Ready.”
“Ready.”
You didn’t have time to get a full breath in before Felix came forward. He copied your first movement, cutting downward as you chose to defend with the pole of your axe. Successfully blocking his attack, you pushed him back by thrusting the pole that had halted his sword outward.
Unfortunately, he caught his balance before you did. His fast impulse let him drive his sword forward into your chest. Your inability to lower your axe and reset into an athletic stance left you off your center.
His sword struck true, though you could sense he had let up enough of his momentum so as not to knock you over at its poke.
“Point,” you stated.
By the goddess, point you idiot!
Finally, you remembered! Bringing your hatchet with you back to the weapon rack, you exchanged it for a wooden sword hanging on the metal stand.
This did not go unnoticed by Felix.
“...”
“...something wro-?”
“Are you mocking me?” he questioned. The face of the future Duke had contorted into one of disgust.
“No, not at all! This is what was nagging me since I entered. I’m meant to take the certification exam for the Hero class in a few days, though I’m nowhere near ready. I know my way with an axe, but my skills with the sword could use some work. I’ve attended a couple of seminars, so I came here tonight in hopes of actually practicing,” you assured him.
“A smart idea. You can only learn so much without practical application,” he agreed. “You’re not going to get anywhere holding it like that, though.”
Swiftly, Felix closed the distance between you, “Hold your sword out.”
You did so, paying close attention as he adjusted your grip. It felt more natural already.
“Since your main weapon will be the axe, I doubt they’ll care too much about how you attack with it. Just as long as you can block, defend, and dodge effectively, you’ll pass. It takes a certain level of skill to do even that, though.”
“Right.”
He took a few steps back, and you immediately recognized his offensive pose, “I’ll take it easy on you these first few times; it’s more important that you work on applying your fundamentals, which you should have picked up from those seminars, than for you to adapt to countering my style. Ready when you are.”
“Alright. Ready.”
Most of the time, when he attacked, it was all about reading the angle of his sword and countering it appropriately. You were strong from your hatchet training, so sustaining the blocks was child's play. Switching the advantage came harder to you, though. To push back and then add a strike of your own was incredibly difficult while enforcing defenses.
It took a few rounds and a lot of bruises, but you eventually fell into better defensive habits with the sword. You were nowhere near Felix's level (even though you knew he was taking it easy on you, it felt like he was toying with you the whole time), but you found yourself much more assured in your base skillset.
"That's enough for tonight. It won’t do either of us any good if we keep sparring when we ought to sleep,” Felix commented, crossing the room and putting his wooden sword into a sheath that had been discarded on the ground.
A single, stark laugh left you, “Never thought I’d hear you of all people saying- Wait, that’s yours?”
“Is there a problem?”
“I just…didn’t think you’d have brought a wooden sword of all things.”
The swordsman raised a brow, then approached you, “Give me the one you’re holding.”
You did, easily. Then, when Felix took his own wooden blade from its casing, he held it out to you.
Taking it, a small wave of surprise washed over you once you realized it was weighted.
So this must be how he remained so agile when he used a real blade.
“What did I expect?” you traded weapons again. Then, you made your way to the rack on the wall to return your borrowed, glorified stick.
Sheathing it for the final time that night, Felix headed to the door while you were still messing around with fitting the sword back into its place.
Before he could leave, you made sure to call out to him.
“Felix?” you watched his attention snap back to you. “Thanks. You know, for helping me figure this out.”
“Tch, we’ll need to work longer than just one night to fix all that.”
“Ouch. Feel free to lay it on gently, next time.”
“Then save your thanks for after you pass the exam. Besides, who said I was doing it just for you?” he turned to go once more, “Prepare yourself. When I’m done with you, you’ll be one hell of a training partner.”
The doors to the training grounds shut with a resounding echo. You sighed, finally fitting your sword onto the rack. Then, you walked the path back to your dorm.
But as your head made it to your pillow, sleep was hesitant to claim your racing thoughts. Felix’s last words to you were the promise of a trial by fire.
You hoped passing the exam would be worth the price of all the burns.
Sylvain:
“Hey, Sylvain. Mind if I borrow you for a sec?”
You dragged him away from his conversation, the two women he was talking to clearly having begun to turn hostile. You didn’t know what the philanderer had said to them, but you knew it wasn’t good if they were looking at him like that.
“Yeah, we might wanna go a little faster,” Sylvain recommended under his breath.
After some casual speed-walking, you both wound up outside the stables. Much to your chagrin, he actually seemed proud of himself. Some people just didn’t learn, you supposed.
“Thanks for getting me out of there. So, was there something you needed?”
“Yes, actually,” you chose to ignore that he believed you would pull him out of his own mess just to be nice, “I’m working on becoming a dark knight. I’ve got the magic part down, and I’m good enough at the equestrian portion to know I’ll pass. It’s the lance I really need help with.”
“So you came to me?” he laughed. “What, wouldn’t you rather have Dimitri or Ingrid training you? I’m no good-”
“Don’t even try it; you’re not worming your way out of this one. You’re far from last place in your lance skills and you know it. Besides, you owe me a favor.”
He raised a brow, “That still doesn’t explain why you chose me over Dimitri.”
“If it really matters that much to you, I can’t choose Dimitri. His crest supplies most of his strength, so I didn’t think he’d be the best fit for a teacher. Ingrid and Ashe would be okay, but they’re both out on a mission, right now.”
“So in other words, I'm your last pick.”
“Hey, I could’ve waited for them to return if I wanted. I’m in no rush to take the exam until I’m certain I’ll pass,” you countered.
“Then…I’m your first pick?”
You lowered your brows, “Get over yourself and help me.”
The two of you made your way down to the training grounds. On the way, Sylvain kept looking around as though he expected those two women to jump out at any moment.
“Relax. I doubt they’d go train of all things after that encounter. Your reputation might take a small hit, though.”
“You mean to suggest it’ll get worse than it already is?”
You conceded at that point. To tell the truth, you had no idea how Sylvain was still able to pick up women, what with the gossip and rumors attached to him.
Once the doors were shut behind you, Sylvain relaxed a bit more. He instructed you to grab a practice dummy and set it up in the middle of the area. However, once the job was done, the red-headed noble was nowhere to be seen.
I swear to the Goddess, if he ditched m-
A shout of surprise left your throat as you turned around to the sound of a loud thud behind you.
Sylvain laughed, “Woah, didn’t mean to scare you! Everything’s ready now.”
Looking to the ground, you identified a large wooden object in front of your training partner. It wasn’t there before, so it was probably what made the noise.
“Okay…?” you questioned, “What do we do with the battering ram?”
“Oh. That’s your new lance.”
That’s a funny joke. How the hell am I supposed to lift that thing?
You gave him a strange look, “You’re kidding, right?”
He stretched his arms out, resting them behind his neck, “Nope. That’s how my father made me train. He even got in contact with Rhea to make sure at least one of these would be here for me.”
“Seriously?”
You were beginning to have second thoughts about this whole thing, but you were the one that asked him for help. If he was willing to give it to you, you were taking it.
“Alright, then. What do I need to do?”
The Gautier heir picked up the ram with ease, walking over to the training dummy to demonstrate.
With him talking you through it, you pieced together that the plan was for you to stab with the ram, then swipe horizontally both ways before finally swiping vertically both ways. Each portion of the exercise was to be repeated twenty times.
“Go ahead, give it a try.”
Thudding on the ground once more when he set it down, the battering ram lied in wait as you approached it.
But even picking it up was a challenge. Both of your hands were on the same handle as you yanked upwards to no avail.
“Sylvain, there’s no way I can lift this.”
A huff of air left his nose in a chuckle, “Probably should’ve guessed that. No offense.”
“Don’t sweat it. That’s why I'm here, after all. Any other ideas?” you asked.
“No, no, this could work. Here, you take the back handle and I’ll hang onto the front.”
Together, you managed to lift it, though you were surprised at how much of the work you felt yourself doing.
Sylvain guided the direction of your swing while you did the actual movement. It was a pretty effective system, if you were in any position to say, and you could really feel it in your arms. Nonetheless, you refused to let up. The two of you went through the motions until all of the reps were finished. After your first set, however, a short break was in order.
“Of course, this won’t just be a one day thing. It’ll take a couple weekends to really get results. Feel free to let me know when you need help, and I’ll find time to make it down here to work with you,” he offered.
So it was. Over the next week, you both made it a habit to train with each other after lunch. Eventually, you were able to get through the routine without him. He would still be sure to make an appearance, but at this point, you weren’t exactly sure why.
Once you felt closer to ready, the two of you met up about three days before you were scheduled to take the exam. This time, Sylvain handed you one of the practice lances and instructed you to do the same exercise.
Immediately, you noticed an improvement. The motions were so much faster, and your hits had become so much stronger than before.
It seemed your “teacher” noticed it, too.
“Great, now let’s put it to some real use.”
Sylvain picked up a wooden lance of his own while you moved away from the training dummy.
“Go easy on me, yeah?” you laughed. “I’m not exactly used to this new strength, yet.”
“Don’t worry, my crest won’t activate during something like regular sparring.”
You noticed his defensive stance. He was prepared for you to attack.
Best not to keep him waiting.
Adjusting your grip, you made your way over to him. You moved your arm to act out a horizontal swiping motion, but you didn’t actually go through with it. Reading his backwards dodge easily, you didn’t let up on your charge until after he had caught his jump. Then, you used your momentum to poke forward.
“Agh-! Yup, that one’s definitely yours,” he grunted in suppressed pain, “My fault for anticipating, though.”
“You good to go again, or…?”
Sylvain plastered on a grin, “Nah, I’ll be fine. I can handle a little bruise.”
If he didn’t want to do anything about it, you certainly weren’t going to force him anywhere. Round two it was.
This time, you both went back and forth for a bit until the poles of your lances were locked in a stalemate. You were so focused that you didn’t notice Sylvain stick his leg out until he had swept your feet from beneath you.
Thinking fast (as mages always did to avoid getting hit), you used the energy of falling to create the momentum that allowed you to roll away from him. Getting up fast was going to be the key to winning this bout.
Not a second too soon, you were on your feet and swinging your lace around your body until it halted just before hitting Sylvain’s side, who was still running toward you. He noticed immediately and stopped his advance.
“That’s your point, too. A bit unconventional, and I have no idea how you’ll recreate that on a test…”
“Well there’s no way I can control what happens on the test, right? If it’s just sparring, then sparring practice is the best I can do.”
“Can’t argue with that,” Sylvain said matter-of-factly. “One more, or should we call it a day?”
You recalled how you jabbed at him square in the chest during your first bout, and then how you just barely managed to avoid hitting him in the second.
“I’m good,” you nodded. “I’m a bit tired today. Besides, there’s always tomorrow.”
“Sure. Well then, see you here again tomorrow.”
He left you behind to clean everything up, but you didn’t blame him. He probably would have given away how bad his injury was if he tried to bend over anyway. Classic Sylvain, who could never manage to fool anyone but himself.
Placing the lances back where they were meant to be stored, your thoughts turned to the future. The exam that had once felt like a huge barrier now looked merely like a step on a staircase. You knew you had Sylvain to thank for that.
Maybe you’d get to it eventually, but for now, you’d stick to showing your thanks in other ways. Whether he noticed it or not.

Note
would rlly like a scenario where sylvain befriends an m!reader and one day he sees him laughing and is like well shit! i guess i really like guys and am bi!
I include Sylvain in the list of “IntSys Missed Bi Chances”
~
“(Name), check this out,” Sylvain winks at you. You lean against the wall.
“Alright, Gautier, impress me,” you taunt, shooting him a lopsided smile. Sylvain suddenly felt strange, was it the competition? Or was it the need to impress you?
Both.
It’s gotta be both.
Sylvain slid next to a lonesome blonde and waved the waiter over.
“Get a drink for the lovely lady and put it on my tab,” Sylvain smiles. The girl perks her eyebrow up and thanks him. “It’s no problem,” he says. The waiter places two drinks between the two of them and they start to chat. After a while, he excuses himself and walks back to you.
“That’s it? That’s all you have to do.”
“Yup.”
“Buy them a drink and talk for a while?”
“Yeah.”
“That easy?”
“That. Easy. Try it,” Sylvain nudges towards the brunette at the table next to them who was, of course, alone. You sigh and shake your head.
“Fine, but you’re coming with me.”
“Of course! Anything for my friend,” he says. Huh, that stung a little. You walk over to the table and wave at the girl. She looks up from her book and waves back.
“Hey, mind if me and my friend sit here?” You ask.
“Be my guest,” she says. Sylvain slides in first and you follow. You look at her book.
“Hey, that’s the King’s Fall,” you eye the cover, a sudden smile graces her lips.
“It is! The most recent edition to the-”
“King’s Among Us series,” you both say. You stare at each other for awhile before you start laughing.
“What did you think about the Captain’s sacrifice?”
“Are you kidding?! Tragic. Horrible. I can’t believe K.C. would do that to us!”
“I know? What the heck,” you turn to Sylvain. “Have you read the series?”
“I’ve only heard of it,” Sylvain shrugs. “I think I saw Ashe reading it once.”
“Oh, Ashe is a classmate of ours,” you explain. The girl, who introduced herself as Cynthia, looks between the two of you.
“Oh, now I recognize those uniforms. You’re from the Officers’ Academy.”
“That’s right,” you smile. “And your uniform, you’re from the School of Sorcery, right?”
“Yes, actually.”
“That’s really cool, I graduated from there last year.”
“Oh, so you’re only a year older then?”
“Yeah, I suppose so...”
As your conversation moved on, Sylvain could only watch with his head in the clouds. Looking at you at this angle was just... The light hit you perfectly, the sounds around them just died out when you spoke. And the way you just clicked with this girl, it kind of made him jealous.
Huh, him? Jealous? He thought he’d never see the day.
Then, a sudden realization hit him as he turned to face you once again.
Holy shit.
He’s in love with you.

For FE3H, I don't write for the Church of Seiros (except for Flayn). I like them all but I just don't enjoy writing for them as much qwq
I’ve watched all of Arcane but I haven’t played League of Legends so if there’s something that I should know about, please let me know!
For any requests involving the fluff alphabet I have, I'll allow a maximum of 5 letters and 5 characters per request. Just remember that the more letters and characters there are, the longer it'll take me to finish.
Regarding suggestive requests, anyone under 16 will not be allowed to have suggestive requests. It just makes me uncomfortable. (Suggestive meaning no full blown NSFW but some mild spice.)

A Cleric and a Prince
Dimitri x Reader
Cannon typical violence, deep splinters, personal threats
Being a healer at Garreg Mach is a challenging job. Working with Manuela in the infirmary is a mixture of emotions. Happy to help others, sad that she has so many personal issues, anxious when someone arrives with serious wounds, hilarious when the students tell you exactly how they become (not seriously) hurt before arriving in the infirmary.
You have not yet been instructed regarding the fine points of battle. If the students need healing battalions, you are part of the Seiros Sacred Monks, helping Mercedes. Your group frequently accompanies the Blue Lions in battles as well as working with them in the monastery, being available to heal them after rough sparring sessions and general needs.
Eventually, a few members of your battalion are assigned to specific members of the class. You are assigned to Dimitri and Dedue. You cannot handle Felix’s antagonistic personality. Sylvain, well, he was given a male healer so that he will focus on what is hurt versus being Sylvain.
After a few battles Dimitri and Dedue realize that you are their assigned healer. It is not announced to the troops, however they notice the same healers heading to assist the same team members. Dimitri asks you to sit with him and Dedue during meals quite often. Dedue speaks with you frequently during your time together in the greenhouse. Healing herbs don’t plant themselves.
You’ve become good friends with both of them. Cheering them both on when they enter the lance tournaments. Joining them in the training grounds, healing their injuries, or the injuries of their opponents more likely, after a long sparring session.
Things fall apart after the battle that occurs in the Holy Tomb. Dimitri is acting strange and distant. Dedue shields you from him at times. Dimitri’s health is suffering, you can tell that he’s not eating and sleeping properly. You help Dedue mix other herbs into the prince’s tea, hoping to get him to sleep occasionally. You find out about Dimitri’s ageusia and load up on the sleeping herbs. Dimitri is a big guy and there are enough herbs in this batch to knock out a horse. He finally sleeps for a night, Dedue cannot force the tea on him every day, he gives it to him as often as he can.
The battle when they lose the Professor is devastating. Dimitri is seriously injured, you keep him from the brink of death. As soon as he is mobile, Dimitri disappears with Dedue following him.
Remaining with the Knights of Seiros you are trained to fight like everyone else. Nearly five years are spent searching for Rhea, fighting Imperial troops, and thieves. Returning to the monastery after the anniversary of the millennium festival, the place is a mess, in worse condition than when you marched away with the rest of the Knights. The Blue Lions return. Dimitri is with them, at least the shell of him is here.
You attempt many times to speak with him while he keeps his vigil at the base of the shattered statue of the goddess.
“The Dimitri you once knew is dead, only this repulsive blood-covered monster remains!” he screeches at you as you enter with a tray of food from the kitchens.
You have learned to bring things that can survive his rage. Any food or drink you bring near him is immediately upended or thrown against the wall. In times of true hunger, the Boar forages, grabbing the chunk of sausage or meat skewers, now stale bread and raw vegetables from the floor.
The times that he is lucid are few. Infrequently, the Professor can have a partial conversation with him. If you catch him while he sleeps or as soon as he wakes, he may let you approach to clean a few wounds and heal him.
Felix scoffs at you, telling you that you are wasting your time and effort on a beast, a worthless animal. Yet Felix is there, every day, just like you, watching over him.
The army heads for Ailell, obtaining additional troops and Rodrigue joins them. Rodrigue can have a few conversations with Dimitri, however Dimitri’s anger still controls him. It is only when they take over the Great Bridge at Myrddin that a change is sparked in him, when Dedue rejoins the Blue Lions.
Now, when food is brought, it is handed to Dedue, who will not allow his highness to throw the trays. Dedue directs the prince not to use his rage upon those that come to aid him. He even convinces Dimitri to remove his armor, a few pieces at a time, to be cleaned and repaired. Dimitri allows the Professor or you to approach, assisting with cleansing his wounds, healing, and clearing his infections.
The army marches for Gronder Field. You stand amongst the troops in his battalion, waiting for the order to proceed. Suddenly it is time to advance. Dimitri and Dedue sprint far ahead of their battalions, they are immediately surrounded by enemies. The battalions fight their best, you alongside them. Perhaps nobody will notice if you cast physic on Dimitri. Dedue is a brick wall, or at least is made of stone, he does not get injured often. The Blue Lions fiercely move forward, Dimitri is determined to reach Edelgard and end her life.
Dedue assists by clearing the last armored Imperial fighter in Dimitri’s way as the leaders of the opposing troops battle. You are fighting Edelgard’s battalion members, preventing them from attacking Dimitri and Dedue. A sudden roar comes from Dimitri as Edelgard is warped away by Hubert. His prize taken from him, Dimitri lashes out at her remaining battalion members, crushing heads and ripping off arms, rending flesh.
The sounds of battle dissipate. You are called to the medical tents to assist with healing. Suddenly the word spreads around camp that Rodrigue has fallen. You cry, not just for Rodrigue, but for Dimitri, whose rage was calming due to Rodrigue and Dedue’s work, and for Felix, who is now alone.
Dimitri solemnly returns to Garreg Mach, Dedue at his side as they escort the body of his dear departed friend.
After the funeral, you march to the Cathedral, arms full of bandages and cleansing cloths. Dimitri would not let you treat his wounds after the battle, during the march or the service. Dedue convinced Dimitri to bathe for the wake. You approach them both as Dedue helps you undress Dimitri from the waist up. As you clean his wounds to avoid further infection, heal him, apply salves, and bandage him, Dimitri looks at you for the first time in forever.
“I am sorry for your loss. I know Rodrigue was like a father to you.” You tell him softly as you wrap a bandage around his left arm.
“He told me I should live for my ideals.” Dimitri swallows, his voice trembles, “Rather than stay shackled by the ghosts of the past.”
“Learn from the past, live for the future.” You smile at him, smoothing some salve to his left ribs. “I know you can do it. Rodrigue believed in you. I do too.”
“My apologies for any problems I have caused you.” He says then hangs his head.
Tying off the bandage on his chest you hug him. “All is forgiven. Rest easy.” You whisper.
He’s not sure what to do, he lifts you into his lap and surrounds you with his arms lightly touching your back, fearful of his great strength. He sobs into your shoulder as you softly whisper comforting words to him patting his back and rubbing his shoulders.
When his tears end, you ask Dedue to get a small towel wet. You place it on Dimitri’s face to cool his forehead eyes and nose. While pressing it to his face, you cast a faith spell to reduce the pain and swelling from crying. After a few minutes you peek underneath the cloth over his good eye.
“How’s it going?” You softly ask.
His blue eye looks at yours. “Better.”
You climb from his lap and he stands, taking a deep breath. “I should probably speak with Byleth.” He coughs into his hand. “Thank you.” He says bowing.
“I’m always at your service.” You smile.
The battle in Fhirdiad is awful. You had not been to the capital of Faerghus too frequently, it is painful to see so many lives ruined, buildings and homes demolished. The citizens are rebelling against the Imperial army, doing their best to help. Although the commoners are brave, you cannot help but feel grief-stricken when they are killed. The people are not trained fighters, however they feel so heart strong for their land and kingdom.
The battle against Cornelia is harrowing, under the tactical eye of Byleth and strong will of Dimitri, the Blue Lions are triumphant. Bells ring throughout the city proclaiming the victory. Citizens are jubilant, dancing in the streets. A celebratory feast is held in the castle.
You are in the infirmary, healing and patching up anyone that comes for treatment. Working long hours into the night, you collapse into an empty infirmary bed for a well-deserved rest. The morning comes quickly. Dedue arrives asking for assistance with Dimitri’s wounds. The serious injuries for soldiers have been addressed, ensuring that the soon to be King is healthy is the next item on the priority list.
“Thank you for coming to my aid.” Dimitri humbly addresses you as you enter his room. “I did not see you at the feast. I was told you were working with the other clerics, healing those that could be helped. I feel guilty asking for your assistance.”
“We need you to lead us.” You smile. “It makes no sense to let you become ill from infection.”
As you treat his wounds and bandage him, you tell him stories of his brave people. How they worked together to aid in the fighting, putting out fires to save buildings, pulling other citizens away from the battles, and how all of them support him.
Dimitri again lets his thoughts go back to when he was lost and out of control. You reassure him that the people have forgiven him. They cannot lead themselves, not yet anyway. Everyone can heal together. Rebuild the city, rebuild the people. Put people into place that are good rulers, good people to look up to and respect.
The conversation goes on, you did not realize that the two of you are talking for hours. It is quite late, he should probably be asleep.
“Come Dimitri, it is time for you to go to bed. Get dressed and I will tuck you in and tell you a story.” You grin at him. He holds you to your word. He calls to you after he is dressed in his nightclothes and under his covers.
You gently tuck him in and blow out all the candles but one. You tell him a fairy tale about a boy, magic beans, an evil goose, and a giant. Your hand is on the bed next to him. Gently he places his on top of yours before the story is done. You take his hand in both of yours, rubbing it warmly between yours as you tell him another story about silly animals that think they can sing and their adventures. When you know he is asleep, you take the candle with you as you leave.
The rest and recovery time in the capital is short lived as the army heads out to Derdriu to assist Claude, the city is under siege. Byleth leads the troops just in time to rescue them. The army turns south to head to Enbarr. One last attempt in negotiating for peace is held with Edelgard, however neither side would give in. Battle is the only way to finish the war.
The battle goes through the streets and heart of the city. So many dead, so much blood everywhere. Everyone gave their all. Edelgard refuses to stand down and her life ends. Dimitri, Byleth, and the rest of the army claim the final victory in the war.
You hound Dimitri for thirty minutes before Dedue steps in, helping remind him that he is injured from the battle and needs treatment. Taking him to a quiet and safe room inside the castle you cleanse his wounds, stitching what he would let you and healing him. You then force him to drink water.
“May I finally return to my duties?” He grumbles.
“Yes, now that I feel like you will not fall over in the middle of them.” You answer. Turning to Dedue you instruct him, “Do not let him stay up all night. He needs to try to eat and sleep.”
“As you wish.” Dedue nods as he follows his liege.
“Wait, you have not been healed as well. Sit and show me your wounds.” You direct him to a chair. Soon Dedue is allowed to follow Dimitri to the multiple destinations on the agenda for the evening.
You head to the temporary infirmary, healing and tending to all the injured, be they from your army or citizens of Enbarr.
Finally, the army leaves for Fhirdiad at the beginning of the Verdant Rain Moon. Everyone is happy to be in the cooler temperatures in the northern part of the continent. You settle in the castle, working in the infirmary, staying in the residence for the healers. In your spare time you volunteer healing the hurt and ailing citizens, working alongside them to help rebuild and recover.
Dimitri’s coronation is a grand affair and a healing event for the city. It is a celebration that proves things are well and that prosperity is just around the corner. You sneak out of the infirmary to watch Dimitri be crowned as King. The cheering of everyone brings tears to your eyes. Their hopes and dreams are now resting on his shoulders.
Finishing work, you arrive at the celebration long after the food has been served, someone had been kind enough to send trays of food to the infirmary and it was shared with the patients that remain there as well. Even the spirits of those still suffering injuries are high and in a celebratory mood.
You clean up, wearing clothing proper enough for a meeting with the king, not really fancy enough for a royal party, it is enough you think as you arrive at the festivities that are ongoing. Dancing, singing, drinking and toasts will most likely continue for the entire night. You look over the crowd, finding Dedue is not difficult, he towers over everyone. You wind your way through the other happy celebrants to stand by his side.
“Good evening, Dedue. Is everything going well?” You ask him.
Dedue leans toward you, whispering. “I am well. His Highness has been quite swept up in the events of the day and should move to retire soon.”
“I agree. It looks like he is being cornered by quite the crowd of potential dance partners, let me see if I can intervene.” You answer with the slightest bit of a grin.
Walking up to the King with an air of authority, you bow and wait for the opportunity to address him. Dimitri appears happily surprised at your presence.
“I am pleased to see you are able to join us. Is there anything I can do for you?” Dimitri smiles, but it appears to be a bit weary.
“My King, as your personal physician, I must remind you that your health is quite important and request that you retire. Your schedule is full of meetings tomorrow and will need your complete attention.” Your attitude and stance are such that nobody wishes to question your authority.
“My apologies, ladies. But I must leave the festivities for now, healers orders.” Dimitri smiles sincerely as the women surround him groan in disappointment and disburse, looking for another noble to taunt.
Escorting the King to Dedue, the three of you leave the venue, proceeding toward the King’s residential area of the castle. Once the three of you are far enough away, he stops.
“Thank you so much for rescuing me.” Dimitri gasps. “I felt like the last piece of meat at a butcher shop.”
“Living up to your name, Di-meat-tri.” You succumb to the terrible pun.
He laughs as you head to his quarters. You excuse yourself as you reach his door.
“No, please, come in.” Dimitri opens the door for both of you. He heads straight for a chair and holds his leg up for Dedue to pull his boots off.
“Ahhh!” Dimitri gasps. “My feet are killing me! I have been on them all day.”
Pain? He has pain?! We can’t have that. You procure a stool and sit at his feet. Grabbing a leg you place the king’s foot on your lap and massage it, noticing the slight swelling at his ankle from being on his feet all day. Using a bit of faith magic and expert fingers, Dimitri is content. You turn and take his other foot in hand for some healing and muscle manipulation. When you are finished, you look up to see one very asleep Dimitri.
Dedue smiles and you let yourself out the door as he takes Dimitri to his bedroom.
The castle calms down over the next few days, a comforting routine takes over. Dedue unexpectedly calls you to the King’s quarters, there was an accident in the training grounds when Dimitri was sparring with Felix. Dedue advises you of the situation and you bring the necessary tools to come to the King’s aid.
Entering his room, you find Dimitri seated by the window at his desk, looking over paperwork.
“My apologies for having to summon you. It is a trivial matter, however Dedue is concerned about infection.” Dimitri looks embarrassed. He is in his undershirt, his left shoulder and upper arm covered in dark streaks, debris, and blood. Imbedded under his skin are many long and deep splinters.
“This doesn’t look like it came from a weapon.” You observe.
“No, Felix knocked me over and I fell into the wall. I did not know the wood had weathered and well, here I am.” Dimitri says sheepishly.
“A steady hand and some antibiotics will take care of this.” You nod, unrolling the pack of sharp tools and tweezers.
Beginning with a bit of faith magic to numb the area, you take into hand a sharp scalpel, cutting along the length of some of the deeper splinters to make it easier to remove them. A tool in hand with a needle like point lifts the imbedded wood while the other hand manipulates the tweezers pulling at a large piece of wood. The easier pieces to remove are no problem as you place splinter after splinter on a piece of cloth on the table. Next it is time to work on some that are deeper in his flesh.
“Come on, nice and easy. You can do it. Mmmmmm” You softly say, coaxing the splinter from his shoulder. “Yessssss.” You mutter with satisfaction as it comes out in a single piece.
Laying the bloody wooden spike on the cloth you look up at the King, rubbing his forearm. Dimitri listens raptly to your chatter as you work. You are talking to splinters, but some of the words and how you say them are…sultry.
“How are you doing Dimitri? Need me to take a break?” You look into his blue eye that is staring at you, not paying any attention to his papers.
“I’m…I’m fine.” Dimitri stutters as he grabs a paper, holding it up to read, hiding his blush from the enticing words you are using to help coax out the splinters.
You nod, getting back to work. “You naughty thing, stabbing our King. Right there, yes, come out.” You beckon the splinters out as you dig them from his shoulder. Giving a happy sigh you place another large piece of wood onto the cloth.
“I’m going to tear apart the training grounds and find every splintery piece of wood and give them a piece of my mind.” You grumble as you go after a smaller splinter. Moving Dimitri’s shoulder and arm, you place his hand on your knee, giving the right flex to his arm to get to the next splinter.
Dimitri turns his head and coughs a few times. “Ahem.” He is quite embarrassed. He tries very hard not to think about his hand and where it is. Papers…supposed to be reading papers, right.
“Are you feeling okay?” You lean forward to rub circles on his back. “You’re not coming down with a cold, are you?” Your voice is terribly concerned.
“No.” Dimitri shakes his head trying to clear his thoughts. It’s hard to think while his back is being rubbed. “You can continue.” He holds the paper closer to his face so you cannot see the pink tint return to his cheeks.
You continue to verbally coax the splinters from his arm, occasionally giving a squeal when you successfully remove a piece without it breaking. Applying an antiseptic salve, you rub it into the wound.
“I don’t want to heal it quite yet. I’d like to check later and see if anything is left in there. I’ll bandage it for now and check before you change for bed.” You announce as you pick up his arm and place his hand on your shoulder.
“Hold it right there so I can bandage you.” You demand as you begin rolling the bandage around his arm several times to keep the salve on his wounds and prevent it from soiling his clothes. You sit down and slowly move your hands down the rest of his arm, lightly massaging it as you go. Massaging the center of his palm you are satisfied that you have removed them all.
“Is there anything else I can do for you, Dimitri?” You stand and slightly bow to him.
He clears his throat, “No, that is all.” He says in his normal deep voice. Then adds a soft, “Thank you.”
Later that evening you knock on Dimitri’s door, beckoned in you see both Dimitri and Dedue looking at the King’s already unwrapped arm.
Dedue stands behind his arm as you approach. Dimitri is seated in a chair pulled close to a large candelabra providing sufficient light. Dedue points out two areas that are redder than the rest, some deep hidden splinters as you had feared. Dimitri’s shoulder is a bit warm to the touch, another sign of an infection brewing. You hand Dedue your tools, there is no table nearby. Casting numbing faith magic, you take your scalpel and cut a small slit into one area that is bright red. Holding the flesh apart with the scalpel and edge of the tweezers you see a black bit that must be another splinter. Quickly you grasp the end with the tweezer and pull out an inch long piece of wood.
“That would have festered into a terrible mess. Let me flush it with some antiseptic.” You pour some liquid from the bottle onto the wound, wiping the excess with a cloth to not cause a mess.
The second irritated spot is more difficult to see. Changing the angle of Dimitri’s arm helps, you take his hand and place it around your right hip.
“Keep your arm there, Dimitri. Don’t move while I have this knife in hand.” You warn as you cut into another deep area where you’ve already removed some splinters.
Dimitri doesn’t move, he’s frozen to the spot. So close, his arm is wrapped partly around you and your hip.
You hand the scalpel to Dedue as you carefully pull with the tweezers. This splinter is not as long, but already showing signs of infection, a pocket of pus surrounding the bloody wood. Pouring antiseptic in again to flush it clean you dab the spot.
“I hope you don’t mind a couple stitches.” You announce to Dimitri as everything happens at once.
Felix slams the door open to the King’s chambers, asking the boar if he ever got the splinters out.
Dimitri panics as his arm is around a woman when Felix enters the room, thus he stands up, pulling his arm into you knocking you backwards. Dimitri and Dedue both lean forward to reach for your falling form at the same time, smacking their heads together, hard. Dedue stays on his feet. You fall onto your back onto the carpet, followed by Dimitri who falls crosswise across your chest grabbing his head and preventing it from hitting the ground.
Felix stands with his mouth agape as you ask him, “Did you get any splinters, Felix?” looking up at him from underneath Dimitri’s prone form.
“Tch. No. But you may want to check to see that he didn’t hit his head as well.” Felix grumbles as he backs out of the room, closing the door behind him.
After a moment you heartily laugh at the whole situation. Dimitri and Dedue join in as everyone scrambles to their feet. You make them take a seat as you feel the bumps on their heads. Healing their heads first then stitching and healing Dimitri’s arm you ask if there is anything else needed this evening.
“No, that will be all.” Dimitri says with a soft smile.
You smile widely back at him. “Thank you for letting me serve you, my King.” You bow and leave the room.
The next day you are up early in the training grounds with two carpenters and their wood planes, smoothing every visible piece of wood in the grounds. Returning to the infirmary you continue healing those injured in mishaps around the castle. A young page knocks on the door and hands you a note and a bouquet of flowers. You are invited to tea with Dimitri this afternoon. You advise the page you accept the invitation.
The infirmary workload is light today. Things are slowly settling down after the coronation. Visitors have left and reconstruction is not as desperate as before, thus less injuries. Leaving the infirmary you head to your room, changing into a nice dress and fixing your hair a bit. You are eager to find out what business the King wishes to speak with you about. Heading to his personal wing of the castle, you knock at his door.
Dedue answers, inviting you in. As you enter, Dedue exits, closing the door behind him. Dimitri is dressed casually, no coat or jacket, simply in his shirtsleeves. As you enter the room, he stands to greet you.
“Please, join me.” Dimitri smiles, holding out his hand as he sits at one end of the settee, a large table with a tea service and sweet treats piled high on a tray. You take a seat on the other end, Dimitri pours tea for you.
“I believe Bergamot is a tea you favor, is that correct?” He smiles as he gently and carefully hands you your cup and saucer.
“Yes. It’s my favorite.” You return the smile as you reach for the honey, letting some drip into your cup, leaving the tea on the table as the contents are still too warm to drink.
Dimitri clears his throat. “I suppose I should get straight to the point. I am sure you are wondering why, out of the blue, I have suddenly invited you to tea. Things have been quite busy with ending the war and then plans for the coronation and the coronation itself. Of course, things are always busy as one is trying to set up the government again after so many years of chaos. It seems like there is a never ending list of meetings and consultations and conferences. And I’m rambling, aren’t I?” He coughs into his hand and swallows, taking a deep breath.
You reach out and touch his hand that is sitting on the settee between you. “Dimitri, we have known each other for years. We have fought together in a war. I have seen you at your worst. I am so happy now seeing you at your best. You can tell me what is on your mind.” You smile at him warmly.
Dimitri relaxes a little and takes a deep breath. “Yes. We have known each other quite some time. You have been by my side, helping me and supporting our efforts. You were there when I was so terribly lost. I thank you for that very much. You believed in me when I needed it the most. Now…” He takes your hand, softly as he can between both of his, staring at you intently, his hands begin to tremble.
Time stops as you look at each other in silence. His voice is soft and low as he speaks, “Would you…would you allowmecourtyou?” He sighs heavily, searching your face desperately for your answer.
First you smile, then you nod, he still looks at you. Figuring he wants to hear your answer you lean forward a bit.
“Yes.” You gasp, bringing your other hand over his hands that still hold yours.
“Yes? Oh yes! Thank you.” He grins happily. If he were a puppy his tail would be wagging hard enough to knock everything off the table. He had been expecting a no, so the yes took a few seconds to register. His cheeks are red, his eye sparkles and he laughs a bit with glee. “I’m just so happy. I don’t know what to do with myself. I had been worried and fretting over your answer, I had no idea what to think if you actually said yes.”
“Well, right now we can sit and chat and have some tea. Perhaps you can tell me of some things that you would like me to do to help you. Your day is filled with doing everything for the country. Perhaps some time can be carved out for doing things for you.” You reach for your teacup, taking a sip.
“Going outside sounds amazing. I’ve been cooped up inside the castle every day. I want to get on a horse and ride. To no place in particular, just feel the wind on my face and sun on my back.” His look is far away with a relaxed smile.
“If it is a nice day, we can take tea together in the gardens. The King should have the ability to make time for a ride at least once a week, if it is a nice day. If they give you too much trouble, I’ll ask your clerics to write a note prescribing a required amount of sunshine for your health.” You smile then take another sip of tea.
The next few days both of you take tea in the gardens together. You are happily surprised when he identifies several different plants.
“My interest in plants came from Dedue. He is always gardening in his free time. I insisted that we include some flowering plants from Duscur in the gardens. I would love to see plants from all over Fodlan here, growing together, just like the country.” He holds out his hand so that you can take his. He is still too cautious of his strength to touch you on his own.
The Harvest Festival calls for the city to be decorated in oranges, reds, yellows, and gold. Many displays and booths line the streets to celebrate the great harvest now that the land is at peace. Dimitri invites you to the event and you arrive alongside him in the royal coach. The path before you is cleared by soldiers surrounding the king for his protection.
Dimitri graciously offers compliments and accolades to all that have worked so hard providing food for everyone. His eye goes wide at the size of some of the pumpkins entered in a competition to see who could grow the largest. Often the two of you stop to admire a street performer entertaining the crowd. One of the rear soldiers drops multiple gold coins into each of the receptacles of the performers.
Suddenly you hear a shriek followed by a wailing cry. You dash off into the crowd, your medical instincts taking over. At the base of a tree, you find a woman crying over her son. The rambunctious six year old had climbed the tree, much to his mother’s dismay, to have a look at the King as he walked past. Unfortunately, the boy did not know the branch he was standing on was weak, it broke sending the child tumbling to the ground. Mother and child are crying as you kneel next to him.
“What is your name, young sir?” You ask him calmly.
He stifles a few tears enough to answer. “Jakob.”
“May I see where you are hurt?” You smile a bit, holding out your hands.
He points to his arm, his wrist is already swelling. He tries to lift it and lets out a wail.
“Shhhh. Hold still.” You hold the arm and wrist in yours as faith magic works into his injury. You hold his arm straight and begin ordering anyone nearby to provide splints and bandages. Immobilizing and wrapping Jakob’s arm, you give instructions to his mother. As you stand, you notice Dimitri is at your side.
“King Dimitri, may I introduce you to my newest friend, Jakob. Jakob, this is King Dimitri.” You smile.
Jakob has the biggest smile across his face as he stands and bows before the king. “It is my pleasant honor to meet you King Dimitri.”
The King bows to Jakob, “It is my pleasure to meet you as well. I suggest you heed your mother’s warning when it comes to climbing trees.” He smiles as he ruffles the boy’s hair.
“Yes sir, King Dimitri sir!” Jacob stammers.
“Please bring him to the castle tomorrow morning so I can check his arm.” You tell his mother. She thanks you several times.
You return to walking along the street with the King, admiring the displays and visiting with the people. A street vendor hawking his booth loudly calls out your direction.
“Oi! Your Kingship! Have a try at me booth! Just one throw is all I ask!” The man’s voice calls out over the crowd as he stands juggling coconuts.
You bump your shoulder into his and giggle as Dimitri shakes his head and concedes. “What is it that you ask of me?”
The man bows so deeply his head nearly touches the ground. “Ahh, Your Kingship! So wonderful to be graced by your presence. I only ask that you throw one of these coconuts at the stack of milk bottles at the rear of my booth. Should you knock them all down, you win!” The showman raises his hand to the target with a practiced flourish then both hands in the air as a sign of victory.
“Go on.” You nudge him again. He looks so cute when he’s put on the spot.
“Very well.” King Dimitri takes one of the offered orbs, staring at it for a moment, then hurls it at the stack. Milk bottles fly in six different directions, most of them landing far from the booth as the target is destroyed, the coconut breaks open on the rear wall of the booth and falls to the ground, shattered.
“What an arm! Your Majesty! Congratulations!” The showman scampers over to a special box and removes a beautiful hand crafted stuffed blue lion in all its majesty. A collar around its neck proudly displays the shield of Blaiddyd. “Me wife crafted it herself, she did. She said if you see the King, you must gift it to him, she said.” He bows as he offers the regal stuffed beast.
King Dimitri bows and thanks him for the beautiful gift, handing it to a nearby soldier to monitor while he continues his stroll. At the end of the lane where the festival ends, the King gives one final wave, thanking his people for their faith and hard work.
Returning to the castle, Dimitri must attend meetings, leaving you to your own business. Taking the stuffed lion in hand you dash to the servant’s quarters, asking for a few specific items. You then head to the infirmary to notify them to find you when Jakob arrives tomorrow so that you may personally check on his wellbeing. You trust your replacements in the infirmary, you had chosen them yourself, however Jakob is a special patient.
Returning to your quarters, which now are close to the King’s own rooms, you find the requested items. With a bit of assistance, you complete the project and request it be delivered to Dimitri’s chambers.
Joining the King and the current guests in a large meeting room, representatives of the former Alliance region are here to discuss their budgets and new laws for the expanded Kingdom. There is a break for dinner followed by discussions continuing until late in the evening. The conversations finally wind down and you know that Dimitri is quite exhausted.
“I believe everyone has made great progress today. Let us all sleep on this and take this up again in the morning.” You announce.
Everyone in the room nods as you escort Dimitri to the exit. Walking down the hallway, your hand in his, Dimitri yawns not once, but twice from exhaustion. Dedue opens the door for the both of you. Following you inside the three of you sit and enjoy a cup of chamomile tea, a lovely habit you have incorporated to get him to wind down before bed. You must leave soon, his eyelids are getting heavy, you hope he sleeps well this night.
“Come with me.” You smile as you take his hand and lead him to his bedroom. Dimitri blushes and looks quite confused as you lead him inside the doorway. You point at his bed and then he notices the stuffed blue lion. It is adorned with a small crown, eyepatch and a cape that resembles his.
“It’s adorable!” he exclaims as he puts his hands on your cheeks and plants a sudden kiss on your lips.
“Come again?” you gasp, your eyes wide.
Dimitri stops and blushes in his sleepy stupor as you pull on his collar and place a brief sweet kiss to his lips. Dimitri’s cheeks are a bright red as you step back and bow.
“Good night, my sweet.” You tell him before leaving the room.
“The tea was lovely, thank you Dedue.” You announce as you leave the king’s quarters, walking normally. This is a normal pace? Right? Sure it is. You see yourself out the door. Running into your room you fall on your bed and scream into your pillow. He finally kissed me!
The next morning you stop Felix on his way to bang on the King’s door wishing to drag him out for a morning spar. You require his assistance in accompanying you on a trip to the harvest festival area. He complains the entire trip switching between arguing that he is wasting his time doing this and you must stay closer to him, any madman with a blade could try to attack you. Once your mission is complete you purchase three heavily spiced meat sticks for him to enjoy while you head back to the castle.
Upon your return you are delighted to meet with Jakob and his mother in the infirmary. Jakob chatters the entire time that he is bragging to all his friends that the King had messed up his hair and he is going to grow up to be a knight to protect King Dimitri. Changing his bandages, you are pleased with his healing progress, he can take the bandages off in two weeks as long as he behaves. Before they leave, you had a large basket to his mother, filled with fruits, smoked meats, bread, and cookies.
“Share the cookies with all of your friends and neighbors.” You remind him as you wave goodbye.
The visitors with the king leave after a final meeting, heading back to warmer territory as quickly as possible before the snows cover the land. Certainly, it is not today as the sun is warm and the weather is beautiful. You work on a few projects when there is a familiar knock at the door. Dedue has arrived to fetch you for lunch.
“It is so nice out, I thought Dimitri would want lunch in the gardens today.” You mention.
“His Highness said he prefers to have it in his chambers today.” Dedue answers. He opens the door so that you may enter, then closes it behind you as he remains outside of the room.
Dimitri is immediately on the other side, looking a bit flustered.
He reaches for you, ever so lightly placing his hands on your shoulders, his eye searching yours. “Tell me, I cannot remember if it was real or a dream. Did we k-kiss last night?” His face flushes red.
You nod as pink dusts your own cheeks. “Yes.”
“May I kiss you again?” He asks as he pulls you close. His voice is so deep, with your chest pressed against his, you’re not sure if it is the vibration of his words or the shudder of a thrill racing up your spine.
“Please.” You beg him, your hands sliding up his chest around his shoulders pulling him down to meet your lips. It is a bit awkward, slightly messy, and the best kiss you’ve had since the night before. You hold him tight to your chest as he slowly wraps his arms around you as lightly as possible, resting his cheek on your forehead after the kiss. You sigh happily into his chest.
You try to step back, however he has no intention of letting you go.
“We should eat a bit.” You suggest.
“I am hungry for your lips.” He mumbles into your hair.
“They are not very nutritious.” You tap him on his back.
“You would deny a starving man who has just had a small taste of the most delicious thing he has ever had in his life?” He chuckles.
“You are always negotiating. Would you agree to lunch then perhaps kisses for dessert?” You look up at him and grin.
“One now, then lunch.” Dimitri brings his lips to meet yours once again.
After the most hurried lunch you have ever eaten, you find yourself on Dimitri’s lap exchanging kisses.
A knock on the door alerts the both of you to Dedue’s presence. “Your highness, you have a meeting to attend.” He announces.
Dimitri sighs heavily, “The duties of a King are never done.” He bemoans.
You giggle as you clamber from his comfy lap. “Let me get a comb to make you more presentable.” You offer. After combing his hair and straightening his clothes, you send him off to be bored for the remainder of the afternoon.
Things are busy rebuilding the kingdom. There is always another emergency, an urgent need or any excuse for a meeting. He has been in meetings from early dawn, only returning now very late in the evening. He eats little, his head is pounding from the stress of the day. He hesitates to call you, however he has another meeting filled day tomorrow and must try to get some rest.
You ask Dedue to please prepare tea for the three of you this evening. Directing Dimitri to sit on the couch, you stand behind it and apply gentle faith magic to relieve some of the pain in his head and jaw from being so tense. You then place the footrest at the far end of the couch, coaxing him to lie back and place his head in your lap.
You ask for his right hand and massage the point just above the thumb where the index finger would be carried down. Applying pressure first, then rubbing circles with your thumb in each direction. Placing his hand on his chest you do the same with his left hand.
Next you squeeze the spot on each side where the bridge of his nose meets the bridge of his eyebrows. Applying steady pressure there, then releasing and repeating. Finally reaching around to the base of his skull in the parallel hollow areas between the two vertical neck muscles, you press upward to the top of his head briefly release and repeat.
Removing the hair tie from his hair you run your fingers through it, gently scratching his scalp. You watch his face visibly relax and a soft smile is on his lips as you continue to card through his hair.
“Better, sweetheart?” You softly coo.
“Mmmm, yes. Thank you.” He relaxes.
Dedue brings in the tea service, placing the cups and saucers for three at the table.
You tap Dimitri on the nose. “Diiiimmaaaa. Tea time!”
He sighs then sits up. “Whatever you did was amazing. My headache is gone and I think I should be able to sleep some tonight. Thank you.”
Dedue pours tea for everyone.
“Thank you again Dedue, for a wonderful tea.” Dimitri smiles.
“You’re welcome, your Highness.” Dedue answers.
You take a cookie, taking a bite. “Oh, did you make these Dedue?”
“Yes, I had the time this afternoon.” Dedue nods.
“They are delicious. Hmm, anise, cinnamon, nutmeg, pecans, ginger, clove, molasses. An amazing group of flavors mixed in with love. Thank you so much, Dedue.” Your appreciation shows in your smile and warmth toward the man.
Teatime is very much enjoyed. Dimitri looks like he is relaxed enough to go to sleep peacefully and without a headache. Dedue looks away so you can give Dimitri a sweet good night kiss.
Sunday is the lightest day of work for Dimitri. No meetings if there are no visitors in the castle. The weather is beginning to cool a little more every night. It won’t be long before snow covers everything. Dimitri wishes to take a long horseback ride and invites you to join him. You’ve never really learned the skills of being on a horse, Dimitri is more than excited to educate you. Lifting you up straight into the saddle, he climbs up behind you. Accompanied by a few knights on horseback everyone rides out past the city and into the countryside. His destination is a small area of woods that has a cliff overlooking some of the lands of Fhirdiad. Dimitri discussed the location with Dedue, this spot would provide some privacy, enemies could only approach from one side and the guards could stay far enough away, yet still protect their King.
Dimitri dismounts, lifting you from the saddle. He then unties a picnic basket from the back of the horse and tethers the steed to a tree. Spreading out the blanket you unload the basket to find a delicious lunch, complete with sweet tea.
“This is beautiful, sweetheart.” You smile at him as you place food on your plate. “A gorgeous view and beautiful scenery too.”
Dimitri blushes once he realizes the compliment. His mind then heads straight to places it should not go at such a lovely scene. “I am a beast. I have done horrible things. How can you trust yourself to be alone with me?”
Placing your food on your plate you reach out to cup his cheek. “I have seen you at your worst. I have seen you at your best. You are not a beast. You have come so far making amends for what was done and you will continue to improve. I will be here for you as long as you wish, to help you become the best you can be.”
“Why? Why would anyone want to help me? Some days I feel so useless, that I can’t be the King everyone expects me to be.” He is trembling under your touch.
“I help you because I love you. I know you are a great King, Dimitri. We all know.” You smile, using the thumb that is close by you wipe a tear from his eye.
“You…love me?” Dimitri is shocked.
You fold your hands into your lap and look at them. “I must not be doing a very good job of showing you that I do.”
“Wait! Please, take my hands.” Dimitri begs you. You reach out to hold his hands in yours.
You look into his eye, confused.
“I never thought I could be loved. You have always been there since we met, haven’t you? I have been a monster to you, yet you still came to feed me and heal me. When I had asked permission to court you, I thought you would decline. Every day I wake up and think you would reject me this day. I can’t believe you are still here, with me.”
Dimitri bends forward and pulls you close. Placing a sweet kiss on your lips. Your lips are barely touching his as he whispers. “I love you.”
The next few kisses are not as chaste as the previous one. Plates and food are scattered about the blanket as you hold each other close.
Dimitri’s stomach growls loudly, causing you both to laugh.
“I think we should finish our picnic before you begin digesting your internal organs.” You laugh.
“Can that happen?” Dimitri innocently asks with a look of surprise.
“No. Just joking!” You laugh.
“You are a cleric and an expert on those things. I suppose my sense of humor needs a bit of work.” He smiles sheepishly as he helps you straighten out the food. Finishing the picnic lunch, he packs the basket onto his mount.
“Wait. I need to get on this thing without your help.” You announce.
Placing your foot on the stirrup you attempt to hike yourself up onto the horse. Mentally you remind yourself you need to do a lot more squats. The third hopping jump you manage to jump/haul yourself up and stand with your left foot in the stirrup, you haul your right leg carefully over the horse and sit crookedly on the saddle, gently moving and wiggling yourself to center while trying not to upset the steed. Dimitri’s long legs are great for having the stirrup low, but then you had to overcome the length of your legs versus his. Maybe if you had a horse of your own it could be shorter. Maybe a pony? You suddenly notice a snickering man next to you.
“What?” You snap at Dimitri.
“Nothing.” He smiles at you, easily getting up and into the saddle as if he flew on wings.
You turn around to look at him again, he still has that silly grin on his face. “You look like the cat that ate the canary.” You frown.
“It is just that when you have your mind set on something, you can be very stubborn.” Dimitri whispers in your ear. “It is very endearing, my beloved.”
Those two words at the end send a shiver down your spine, followed by a second when he kisses the top of your ear peeking through your hair.
Winter in Fhirdiad is cold, nobody can deny that. Early winter the snow falls, then melts and this repeats as the weather has not quite made up its mind. By the end of Red Wolf Moon, the snow is here to stay for a while. Wagon wheels get stuck, so sleighs are used to cart things around in the northern parts of the kingdom until the snow is too high to move anything.
Although it is cold outside, with enough warm blankets, perhaps a warming box under the seat filled with live coals to keep your feet, legs, and posterior warm, you agree to go on a sleigh ride with Dimitri. Wearing your fluffiest warmest winter hat and coat, you are surrounded by blankets and your boyfriend as Dedue drives the horse drawn sleigh through the city and countryside. Dimitri entertains you with stories of snowball fights and building forts and snow houses with his friends.
Dedue even joins in, sharing his experiences growing up. With the water surrounding Duscur, the snow would be so deep that they had doors on the roof of the house so people could get outside and carry on business or shop or just leave the house to play. Winter is also a time for handcrafts, baking, soups and savory stews. Before the end of the ride, he promises to make a Roasted Root Stew for dinner in the next day or two.
The sun sets quickly in winter, the moonlight giving a bluish tint to the snow as it sparkles all around. The trees look like they have their own coats of white covering every branch. A rabbit scampers across your path, its fur turned snow white to help with camouflage. The most amazing thing about snow is the quiet. Not many birds stay around in the winter. Once it is night everyone goes inside as the little bit of warmth from the sun is gone. The only sound is the horse tromping through the snow and the swwishhhh sound of the sleds sliding across the snow. The quiet is peaceful, beautiful and filled with the air of calm.
The snow piles higher and higher around the castle. Time marches along as the citizens and lands rest, healing from the war. The King is healing as well. His nightmares are not nearly as frequent, he does not seem on edge and full of angst by the end of the day.
Dimitri’s birthday is tomorrow and a small celebration is planned. Several of the other Blue Lions will be attending, easily able to traverse the snow. Dedue is pouring chamomile tea as you review what has happened today.
“I was called to the kitchens again this morning,” You dribble some honey into your tea. “The cook’s new apprentice burnt her fingers again. That is the third time this week.” You frown.
“Perhaps you can provide her some training?” Dedue offers.
“I would like to sew gloves permanently on her hands!” You chuckle. “Perhaps we can set up something to develop her awareness.”
“The meetings were light today. Not too many complaints when people have difficulty making it through the snow.” Dimitri muses.
“Tomorrow is the big day, not everyone will have problems getting here tomorrow, I hope.” You smile taking a sip.
“Felix and Sylvain will have no trouble whatsoever. Mercedes and Annette will arrive with them.” Dimitri’s eye shines brightly as he goes through the list. “Ingrid will be on Pegasus, so no issues there. Of course, Ashe is a knight here, so the only concern would be Byleth’s arrival in time.”
“Am I spoiling you if I want to be the first to give you a birthday present?” you ask him just before he must go to bed.
“Sometimes, my beloved, I have noticed that you are not the most patient of women.” Dimitri grins. “I will allow this, only for you.”
You happily pull him to his bedroom door and open it so he can see it.
Normally the proud kingly lion sits in the center of his bed, awaiting his return. Tonight, he sits opposite a beautiful female lion. She is adorned with a circlet of flowers around the top of her head and ears, long ribbons down her back and a clerical cape like yours. The lions face each other, touching noses.
“They are adorable.” Dimitri smiles.
You bend down to the bed patting the lioness on the head. “Oh, what is this? I think she has a present for you.” You softly say as you get down on a knee to reach and obtain a box that is sitting between her front paws.
Dimitri comes closer to join you, only for you to stay on one knee and turn to face him with the box in your hands.
“Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd, will you marry me and make me the happiest woman ever?” You ask, your eyes welling up with tears.
Dimitri gasps and falls to his knees in front of you. “What? Oh yes! Of course, yes!” He declares as he takes you in your arms and kisses your lips and face urgently. Eventually, the two of you have to break apart to breathe.
“You definitely have an impatient side to you.” He laughs, placing his forehead against yours.
“What? I have the patience of a saint.” You giggle. “Saint Cethleann was very impatient.”
“I suppose you are entitled to this.” Dimitri walks to his desk and opens a drawer. He brings a small box to you. “Just to be certain, will you marry me?”
“Let me think.” You chuckle. “Yes. Without hesitation.” Pulling him close you kiss him again.
The day of Dimitri’s birthday is a joyous event for everyone in the castle. Guests arrive and are settled in their rooms. Felix, Sylvain, Annette and Mercedes make it without incident.
“Come on Boar, spar with me. We have time before dinner.” Felix grunts as he shoves Dimitri in the shoulder
You have a cup of tea and cakes with Annette and Mercedes in your parlor, catching up on the latest gossip. You are relieved that they are wearing gloves, you have not had much experience in the high circles of society. It is cold in the hallways, and they certainly help.
“Teaching at the School of Sorcery full time really keeps me busy.” Annette says as she places her teacup down. “It is fun to see the wide eyed new faces get excited about casting their first spells.
“Annie, that is so sweet.” Mercedes laughs softly. “Things are going very well at the new orphanage we started in Fraldarius. We have a huge building and a room for each individual child. We really appreciate the help from Dimitri and Felix. The children are going to write thank you letters soon. I hope you get to see them.”
“That is wonderful to hear. I am sure Dimitri will be well pleased with the news.” You thank them. “Getting the country back on its feet and prospering is his main goal, of course. I hope to see some of these places myself when it warms up in the spring.”
“That would be awesome if you can come visit!” Annette gasps excitedly. “We could have the students show off their talents. Many are working hard to take existing spells and making them useful in every day life.”
“Can someone look into a spell to cast on ordinary items that resist breaking?” You giggle. “I know someone that would appreciate that spell for sure.”
The table erupts in laughter. Girl talk continues as Ingrid joins you. Byleth’s arrival is announced, and everyone heads to one of the comfortable dining rooms that is prepared for the lavish feast the cooks have prepared.
Dinner consumed, the reunited Blue Lions retire to the King’s wing of the castle in a parlor fitted with plenty of furniture to accommodate everyone comfortably. Chairs, lounges and couches are scattered about the room as well as bowls of fruit, trays of cheese and sausage for snacks. A well-stocked cupboard carries glasses, wines, ciders and hard alcohol.
Sylvain makes himself right at home pulling out a large bottle of brandy and filling a few glasses. Annette picks out a fruity wine made with blackberries and between the two everyone has a glass.
“May I propose a toast?” Byleth spoke up and everyone shushed. “Happy Birthday to Dimitri, King of United Faerghus. May he have many happy and peaceful birthdays to come.”
Sylvain let out a whoop, most others give a respectable cheers! Everyone settles into little groups chatting amongst themselves. You lean on the arm of a comfy sofa, talking with Byleth about what is going on in the monastery.
“The rebuilding and repairing is going well.” Byleth shares. “The classrooms are functional, and all of the dormitories are repaired. We are rewriting the curriculum to teach mathematics, reading, writing and other necessary classes for the public. We want it to be a school for the children to learn, leading into better careers than just becoming knights or fighters.”
“That is wonderful to hear!” You excitedly clap your hands together. “A well educated people is a boon for everyone.”
Dedue is on the left side of the room with Ashe and Mercedes discussing recipes. Ingrid, Felix, Dimitri and Sylvain are discussing some recent merchants that arrived in Fhirdiad offering impressive and finely made weapons from Dagda and Brigid, the styles of weapons being the main topic of conversation.
Mercedes sits next to you for a while, speaking with you and Byleth about a recent idea you are testing. Setting up healing clinics in the city in several areas to assist in keeping the people healthy. Byleth approves of the idea and may test some clinics in areas around Garreg Mach.
Sylvain has been keeping everyone’s glasses full. He notices that he really hasn’t had to fill your glass much, however the glass of water next to your wineglass is nearly empty. Leaning over the back of the couch he starts massaging your shoulders.
“Hey.” Sylvain bends over and speaks softly close to your ear. “If you don’t like the wine we have other drinks. Loosen up and have a good time, beautiful. Get relaxed. “He grins at you and then winks.
Before you can turn your head to tell him no, Dimitri marches over and sits next to you on the couch removing Sylvain’s hands.
“Refrain from manhandling my fiancée.” Dimitri growls at him. He then gently places his hand on top of yours that is sitting on the couch cushion between the both of you.
You blush at him as several gasps utter in the room.
“Fian- you’re getting married Dimitri? Congratulations!” Sylvain nearly shouts, slapping him on the shoulder. “Didn’t know you had it in you! When did this happen? Tell us all about it!” He runs around to the front of the couch to take a seat in the chair directly opposite Dimitri so he can watch his friend’s every move.
“I-well. It just happened. We aren’t quite ready to announce it, but then Sylvain…” Dimitri hangs his head down, shaking it while blushing profusely.
You decide to swoop in to save him. “You see Sylvain, when two people like each other and get to know each other well, spending time together, sometimes something special happens. We have been courting for quite a while you know.”
“I know, yeah. But he’s Dimitri! He has no idea how to flirt or capture ladies’ hearts. Has he even kissed you?” Sylvain looks quite shocked.
Dimitri’s face is red all the way to his neck. You take his hand in yours and squeeze it tightly.
“We have kissed. He kissed me first and everything else is our business. Change the subject.” You give him your evil eye look.
“Wow.” Sylvain laughs. “Wah-hah-how.” He stands up and walks to the alcohol cabinet. Felix gives him a punch in the shoulder.
“Shut the fuck up, idiot.” Felix mumbles.
“Felix, do me a favor.” You smile slyly. “Take Sylvain to the training grounds with you early tomorrow morning and give him a good workout. I’ll even tell them to lock you two in there so he can’t escape.”
“It would be my pleasure.” Felix gives a courteous bow and Sylvain a side eye.
“Speaking of sparring,” Byleth says loudly. “I have a few new swords I’ve brought if you want to have a look at them Dimitri. Fantastic workmanship. I hear this weapon maker has some amazing materials that are being shipped in from Dagda.”
You get up to move about the room, talking with Ingrid about improving farming techniques in their territory.
“We always thought Galatea had poor soil because certain fruits and vegetables would not grow well there.” Ingrid sips her wine. “We kept fighting with the land, trying to make it grow what we wanted. Finally, we’re growing what the land wants, what grows in our type of soil in the first place. This is the third year for cranberries and the bushes are loaded. Rethinking our ways has improved things a hundred fold.”
“I love cranberries.” Annette croons. “They make a really tart sauce that is great with bird meat.”
“I like the juice for breakfast, it certainly is an eye opener!” You add.
The conversation quietly moves to anything and everything except for the engagement. Annette heads over to speak with Felix, Ingrid heads to Ashe to discuss something.
Sylvain stands close, but not too close to you. His grin is full of mischief. You dread what is going to come out of his mouth.
“So, when you planning on having kids?” Sylvain not so innocently inquires. “The council has been dogging him about heirs since the day after his coronation.”
“One more word from you and I will have Felix take you to the training grounds now, followed by Byleth, Dedue, Ingrid, Ashe and myself. Am I making myself perfectly clear?” You give a smile through gritted teeth that makes him cringe down to his toes.
“Yes Ma’am.” Sylvain whines as he backs up and heads to the farthest side of the room, only to find Dimitri there, so he splits the difference and heads to a corner furthest away from the both of you.
Sylvain stays in his corner. Ashe approaches him, asking a question. As he opens his mouth you stare at him. Sylvain dutifully closes his mouth and only answers by nodding yes or no. His voice is not heard throughout the rest of the evening. It is a fine party indeed for Dimitri’s birthday.

The White Heron Ball (Dimitri X Male Reader)
Tumblr media
“Professor, I beg of you. Please, do not choose me as our house representative. I am utterly serious.” And that’s when the problem started. “What?! Curse you, professor. I will of course accept but know that you have damned us all.”
And so, after the event, an official Blue Lions meeting has been started. Inside of the classroom, the entire original group are all standing around to figure out what to do with the dreading situation.
“I just can’t believe it. I begged to the professor, and yet they choose me. Why?”
“They probably wanted to be humored.” Felix coldly says.
Ingrid looks besides her with a glare. “Not now Felix. This is serious.”
“It’s just a ball.” Felix merely responds. “Just do it and lose. Who cares?”
“This isn’t just about the ball. This is about our pride.” Ashe corrects him.
“He’s right. If he loses, that will look bad on us.” Sylvain agrees.
“My apologies in advance.” Dimitri apologetically says.
“No need to apologize.” Dedue assures. “We’re in the same boat, so we must share the burden.”
“You say that, but we aren’t the ones on the dancefloor.” Annette looks unsure at the retainer.
“Even so, we can offer our support.” Mercedes positively smiles.
“Mercedes is right.” Dimitri feels a bit more secured thanks to everyone’s support, well, everyone except Felix. “Perhaps with some dedicated training, there is going to be a chance I can win. I just need to learn how to dance.”
There is a silence in the room, as everyone looks awkwardly stiff.
“I’m sorry my lord, but if I knew this would happen, I certainly learn how to dance.” Dedue says.
“I was always more interested to learn how to fight.” Ingrid admits.
“I can try, but I doubt it would be much help.” Mercedes says with a frown.
Dimitri sighs. “I guess nobody knows how to dance.”
“I do.” Everyone eyes lay on Y/N. “My parents always love to throw balls. I basically grew up with them.”
“You do?” Dimitri looks amazed. “Do you think you can teach me?”
“Of course. Know that since we have only less than 2 weeks, you’re technique will be… clunky.”
“I just have to accept that.” Dimitri is quick to scoff that aside. “So? When do you think we can train?”
“How about now?”
-
In the courtyard, Dimitri is awkwardly looking around as Y/N begins his first lessons as a dance teacher.
“You will be leading, which is I usually do, so please excuse me if I get confused.” He walks over to Dimitri, right in front of him, making Dimitri a bit flustered. “With your right hand, you grab mine. While on at the left hand, grab my hip.”
“You’re hip?” Dimitri looks a bit gasp but doesn’t complain. With silence, he merely does what Y/N instructed.
“You need to hold me tightly. Imagine how tightly you grab your lance.”
“A-Alright.” Dimitri mutters. Holding Y/N tighter, they get to basic pose.
“This is the base. As long as you hold me like this, everything else falls into place. First though, we’re doing the basics.” Y/N says. “Now, follow my movement.”
And so, Dimitri carefully follows Y/N’s instructions. His eyes keep looking on the ground. Both because he wants to his movement, and he doesn’t want to see his partner’s eyes. It starts out slowly, with the prince carefully moving. However, as he repeats the moves, he goes a bit faster and faster. After several minutes, the two take a break.
“And? Did I do good?”
“You were good as a beginner.” Y/N complements him. “You were a bit rusty, but we work on that.” From behind Dimitri, Y/N sees the other teachers, as well the students that Dimitri is going to compete with. “Oh no.”
“What is wrong?”
“I didn’t consider your opponents…”
Dimitri turns around and instantly gets what he’s worried about. At the Golden Deer, being led by Hanneman, is Hilda, one of the most charming person in the school. To make things worse is at the Black Eagles, being teach by Manuela herself, is no other than the songstress Dorothea. Both girls definitely have more experience with this, whether it's dancing, or looking mesmerizing.
“I’m going to lose. Aren’t I?”
“Don’t say that yet.” Y/N wants to motivate him, though he knows the chances of him winning is very low.
“I’m competing against an opera songstress and one of the most charming girls in the school.” Dimitri says with a frown.
Y/N sighs. “Fine. Yes, we’re screwed, but we still need to try. Imagine this is a battlefield. You see multiple strong opponents. What would you do?”
“I fight. The least I could do is give it a shot.” Dimitri then looks a bit happier. “I have to say, I still have my doubts, but I shouldn’t give up. Please Y/N, teach me further.”
“That’s the spirit!”
-
Days has passed. Every day, Dimitri takes time to practice his technique with Y/N. First starting with the basics, and later keep adding one thing to refine his movement. That leads them to the White Heron Cup. Every student is in the large hall, all awaiting for their house to participate and win. In one corner, the Blue Lions await anxiously, especially their leader.
“You got this. I just know you’re going to win.”
“Thanks Mercedes. I give it my all, but I feel like I’m outmatch.” Dimitri was pretty confident in his ability until the day actually came. That’s when he began to feel nervous.
“At least you know that. But there is no shame with losing to these gorgeous girls.” Sylvain casually comments.
“I think Sylvain was trying to say, even if you lose, we’re still proud of you.” Ingrid corrects her friend.
“Just remember the technique.” Y/N reminds the blonde lord. “If it helps, imagine you’re dancing with me.”
“That just sound wrong.” Sylvain chuckles. “…Or right depending on his highness.”
“What does that supposed to mean?” Dimitri looks a bit flabbergasted.
Before Sylvain could clarify, their teacher walks up to the group. “It’s time. Good luck, Dimitri.”
“Yes. Thank you.”
As everyone stand at the side, the three participants head to the center. Alongside them are the judges, Alios, Shamir and Manuela. Along the three students, Dimitri looks the most nervous. It doesn’t help that Dorothea merely looks like this is her casual day and Hilda just smirking happily. After the announcement, featuring Alios, the crowd cheers for the three students.
“Very well… BEGIN!”
With elegant music playing in the background, the three students begin gracefully move around. Surprisingly, Dimitri isn’t butchering his technique, which surprises his classmates. He blends in with the two girls pretty well. However, even though he’s doing good, doesn’t mean he outdid the likes of Dorothea and Hilda. Still, they don’t know what the judges think. Though for Dimitri, he doesn’t think about it. He merely thinks of holding Y/N in his arms, as he carefully moves his body around.
Minutes has passed, and the music stops and the bell rings. “TIME! That’s all, folks!” Alios announces. Thus, the three students stand still in front of the judges. All three awaits until they hear the result. Like minutes ago, Dorothea and Hilda still look confident, while Dimitri still looks nervous.
“Splendid! All three of you were fantastic! Now, let’s hear what the judges have to say…”
“Oh my, let’s see. I suppose I have no choice but to vote for… The Black Eagle House. Your performance was… exhilarating. My heart is still beating a mile a minute.”
“C’mon. At least give us one vote.” Annette begs back in the background.
“That vote was just rigged.” Sylvain is quick to conclude. “She’s in her house, AND they worked together.”
“Shh!” Ingrid shushed him. “They’re going to say the next person.”
“I vote for…” The room awaits for Shamir to give her vote. “The Blue Lions House. You were the most original.”
“Yes!” Ashe happily cheers. “At least we got one.”
“Great feedback, both of you! Well then, let’s see… Factoring my own humble opinion… Yes! We have a winner! And I will announce who it is… right now! Without any delay! The winner of this year’s White Heron Cup is…” With the surprise of the entire room, the winner gets announced. “The Blue Lion House.”
As the entire room claps for the winner, Dimitri merely looks confused. “I won? There must be some mistake…”
-
From that day, the students gave Dimitri an odd look, because they keep thinking how the prince only skilled in the battlefield could win in a dance competition. Days has passed since that day, and the prince still can’t believe he managed to win. The ball started, with about everyone at the event. In the middle of the room is the dancefloor, while those who just wanted to do something fun standing at the side.
“I can’t believe every girl rejected me.” Sylvain stands with his childhood friends as he complains about the event. “Am I losing my charm?”
“You didn’t had any in the first place.” Felix is quick to insult him.
“You know, I’m glad they rejected you.” Ingrid says with honesty. “You just toss them at the side when you’re done with them.”
“I take it none of you are going to dance, huh?” Y/N asks.
“Not a chance in the world.” Felix says.
“I wasn’t asked.” Ingrid responds.
“Oh.” Sylvain looks surprised. “I didn’t expect that. If you don’t mind, we can dance.”
Ingrid is quick to glare at him, thinking he’s up with something again. “And here I thought out of all girls, you wouldn’t treat me like-”
“Hey! Hey!” Sylvain quickly calms her down. “I meant as a friend.”
“Oh, yeah? Would you dance with Felix?”
“Sure. Why not?” Sylvain says with issue. He looks back at the frowning swordsman.
“No.”
Y/N laughs at the interaction. From his side, he sees Dimitri walking to them to join them. “Hello Dimitri. Everything going well?”
“Well, after my victory, girls are quiet interested with dancing with me.” Dimitri answers.
Sylvain looks disappointed. “Damnit. Why didn’t the professor picked me?”
Dimitri merely chuckles. “Anyway, it appears now I have some time alone. Ironically, I wanted to ask Y/N to dance?”
“You do?” Y/N is a bit surprised.
“Of course.” Dimitri gives his hand to Y/N. “It would be an honor to dance with you.”
Y/N smiles at the other smiling man. “I could say the same about you too.”
With that, Dimitri leads his friend to the dancefloor, where the prince leads his dance partner as they move around. In the background, the three childhood friends watch them.
“I didn’t expect Dimitri to ask him.”
Sylvain chuckles. “I do.”
“Hm?” Ingrid looks back at her friend. “What do you mean?”
“Well, I think after all those privet lessons Dimitri became interested in Y/N.”
“Romantically you mean?” Ingrid then looks back at the prince. “Huh. We never had two kings before. Still, Y/N is responsible and kind, so if he would be the future king, I wouldn’t mind.”
“And he’s far saner then the boar.” Felix adds.
Sylvain hums. “Well, whoever Dimitri is going to end up with, let’s hope it’s someone like Y/N.”

Home (Dimitri x Reader)
hey so it's been a *hot* minute since my last upload LOL
this is my first time writing a dimitri x reader, so i apologize if he’s a bit ooc! regardless, i hope you enjoy~
~*~
The warm sun trickled through the holes in the leaves, dancing on the exposed parts of your skin. The greenery and foliage cradling your sprawled out frame acted as Mother Nature's softest bed, each individual strand of grass and vein of fallen leaf cushioning your sensitive bits.
You inhaled deeply; if peace had a smell, it would be the crispness of the afternoon air, balanced out by the slightly damp fragrance of the remaining dew evaporating from the day's hazy beginnings. A symphony of different sounds buzzed and hummed all about you; students walking and chattering with their fellow schoolmates, a few guard dogs barking in the distance, the birds perched above you and elsewhere whistling a sweet tune-- Every whisper, every howl of the wind added more and more depth to this lovely concerto.
"Care if I join?"
That peace was momentarily shattered.
Your heart performed a routine of leaps and twirls as the dignified voice of a certain blonde royal seemed to have pressed pause on your favorite song. Despite knowing very well who was talking, your eyes cracked open a sliver to see the handsome prince looking down at you happily.
"S-Sure!" You stuttered (mentally cursing yourself for that little slip-up) and patted the empty patch of grass beside you. He nodded gratefully and gingerly laid his books and slightly disheveled bundles of paper in a neat pile before joining you. He took a deep breath and his eyes fluttered closed, his taut jaw slowly relaxing into an open-mouthed grin.
"This is absolutely lovely, (F/N). I see why you like to lounge around here during breaks."
"Y-Yeah." Goddess, get it together! He's just your classmate! A fellow peer! Your friend! Your really handsome, chivalrous, gentle, Goddess he's so cute... Friend! "Um... So why are you here?"
That--... That wasn't... That sounded way worse than you intended it to be. Immediately recognizing your error, you shot up and bowed your head deeply, a surge of red and heat plastering the surface of your cheeks.
"I-I'm so sorry! I didn't mean for it to come off like that, I was just-- Um, well--"
A hearty laugh ceased your garbled apologies; You felt yourself slowly melting as his warm, heavenly laughter bounced around your skull, rocking any coherent thought out of your brain. He waved it off and shook his head.
"No harm done. To answer your question, I always see you sprawled out on the courtyard on nice, sunny days such as today... I figured I should give it a try myself," he closed his eyes again, "it's a truly wonderful experience. I feel like I can just drift off and forget all my troubles, at least for a little while..."
Troubles? Well, being a house leader surely comes with its fair share of extra burdens and responsibilities. Not only does he have to uphold his regular duties as a student, but he also has a country to run-- he's a prince, after all. The livelihood of his people and the expectations of the crown would crumple anyone of weak constitution. So much is put on his shoulders at just the ripe age of 17.
But strangely, you couldn’t help but feel that somehow his ‘troubles’ ran deeper than just the regular anxieties of a student... Or even a prince. Despite the gentlemanly air he usually has about him, there’s something... just, something...  lurking beneath the surface; it was only a matter of time before--
"Well, (F/N)? Would you still care to join me on this relaxing afternoon?" He patted the impression left by your body on the grass and smiled warmly. You felt your heart skip a couple beats at his gentle expression; with a quick nod, you joined your house leader lounged out on the courtyard lawn.
Surely you’re just overthinking this. Dimitri is the sweetest person you’ve ever met. He’s thoughtful, unbelievably polite, kind...
The kind, picturesque smile he flashed at you mere seconds ago shone brightly at the forefront of your mind and you were content to just relish in this precious moment of peace that was granted to you. Your throbbing heart eventually found a comfortable pace and once again a wave of tranquility washed over you. You both remained in comfortable silence, either of you simply living in the moment and taking a second to breathe from mind-numbing study sessions and arduous training that filled up your schedules otherwise.
The gentle light pouring through the trees started to turn blurry and your vision shifted in and out of focus. You made a small noise as you stretched, feeling days’ worth of tension in your body slowly funnel out of your muscles. You rolled over onto your side, facing the prince.
Dimitri's head lazily lolled to face you and he caught your sleepy gaze. You weakly smiled back at him, and if you were just a little bit more awake, your brain would have just enough capacity to catch how quickly (and deeply) his cheeks were turning scarlet. He moved onto his side as well, inevitably rolling closer to you. The faint smell of vanilla emanating from the male hugged your senses comfortingly, and the faces of your family and everyone you loved permeated your thoughts-- Happy, peaceful memories that you held close to your heart.
You scooted closer to him, practically burying your face in his chest. The steady pounding of his heart lulled you further to pure serenity, and soon, you were taken up by sleep’s gentle arms and whisked away into a world where all was right. But as the last shreds of consciousness slowly fell out of your grasp, you mumbled a quiet,
“You smell like home...”
Dimitri (whose eyes were just as quickly closing) looked upon your sleeping face one last time, pure love and adoration boring into your adorable features. He reached up his hand to your face and lovingly grazed a few stray strands of hair from your forehead before brushing the softest kiss on your temple. His arm traveled down to wrap limply about your hip, where he pulled you ever closer to him. He hoped and prayed that that simple action would be enough to convey all the love he’s held for you since the day you’ve met.
“My dearest, you are home...”
*bonus: sylvain (unfortunately) was the first of the blue lions to stumble across you two. did he tell the rest of the lions? yup. were you and dimitri teased beyond your wits the following day? definitely.

Can we have Felix confessing to the reader? I'm loving your blog by the way!
I’m in the mood to write something today, and this request sounds good to me! I’ve never written for Felix before, so I hope you like this, anon!
Felix x Reader - Confession
Felix has been acting a bit odd around you lately, you’ve noticed. Before he seemed to not be able to get enough of sparring with you, saying that you were a worthy opponent. Now, he seems to be asking to train with you less, or avoids spending time with you in general. He tends to avoid being next to you in the dining hall, sometimes seeming to go as far as ensuring to eat at different times. His attitude hasn’t changed towards anyone else though, so you couldn’t help but to wonder if you had done something wrong. But whenever you tried wracking your brain for possible explanations, nothing would come up; you hadn’t done anything to personally offend him, as far as you were concerned. He also didn’t seem to look at you with eyes of hatred or anger. Sometimes his face looked blank, or dare you even say, soft.
“Sylvain, can I talk with you for a moment?” You asked, walking up to the red haired male. You figured that you’d ask Sylvain if he knew what was going on with Felix before talking to the man himself, in hopes of getting an idea of why the navy haired male was acting so strangely towards you. You had to admit- as much of a butt kicking he tended to give you in training, you really missed being able to spend that quality time with him.
Sylvain glanced over at you and nodded, before waving goodbye to the female he was previously chatting with. “Sure, what’s up (name)? You’re looking a little down.” he stated, as he relaxed and placed a hand on his hips.
“I’ve just been a little concerned lately about Felix. He’s been acting kind of... off lately. Around me, at least. He doesn’t seem to want to be around me these days, and I was just wondering, since you’ve known him for a long time as his childhood friend, if you knew anything about that?” You explained to him, crossing your arms a bit as you tilted your head, once more trying to understand why Felix has been acting this way.
“Oh, I wouldn’t be too worried about that. He’s not angry with you or anything if that makes you feel better. Felix is just.... being Felix, he has a hard time expressing himself.” Sylvain chuckled and patted your shoulder, “Try not to let him get to you. Maybe you should ask him about it, I’m sure you’ll get a better answer from him than you will from me.” He grinned and walked away with a wink, waving back at you, “Tell me how it goes later!”
You blinked once, twice, as you watched his retreating form. That hadn’t helped you at all, and judging by what had just happened, Sylvain knew way more than he was willing to let on. On one hand, you were happy to know that Felix wasn’t upset towards you. On another hand, it was frustrating that Sylvain didn’t just tell you what he knew. You sighed and shook your head as you made your way to the training grounds, if you were going to find Felix anywhere, then that was the best place to start your search.
Sure enough, that’s exactly where he was. He was currently swinging a sword at a dummy, his blows were quite powerful and well-postured. The dummy probably wouldn’t last much longer, at his current rate. You walked up to him, keeping a distance as to not get hit by his sword.
“Felix, can we talk for a minute?” You spoke up, waiting for his response. His swings stopped and he turned towards you.
“Can this wait? I’m training right now, can’t you see?” He coldly responded. You weren’t surprised, the man always acted like this while training.
“I won’t take up that much of your time. I just wanted to ask why you’ve been acting so weirdly around me. We used to train together so much. What happened, Felix? When I asked Sylvain about it, he just told me to talk with you about it, winked, and then walked off. He knows something I don’t. Please just tell me, what’s wrong?”
Felix sighed and pinched his nose with one hand, clearly feeling frustrated.
“That damn Sylvain... I’ll cut you a deal. We’ll train together right now. If you win, I’ll tell you. If I win, I get to keep it a secret for a while longer. What do you say?” He asked, with a smirk as he challenged you. He was confident that he would win this bet.
You mulled it over for a second. Felix tended to beat you in training, though you’ve managed to pull off a few victories against him. It didn’t hurt to try, and as of right now, this was your best option to getting an answer.
“I accept your challenge. I’m not holding back this time, I’m determined to find out what’s going on!” You answered with a grin of your own as you picked up a sword. He chuckled and nodded.
“That’s what I like to hear. But less talking, more fighting. Let’s get this started.”
And with that, the training session started, the two of you swinging at one another, dodging and blocking blows. Sweat was dripping down both of your foreheads, the match was more intense than usual, with the two of you being determined to win, you both gave it your all. Training sessions with Felix were usually intense, but this one was even more so, neither of you wanted to give in. That’s when the fateful moment happened, you had managed to knock the sword out of Felix’s hand, taking advantage of the moment he was dodging a previous blow, and your quick speed. As soon as the sword was knocked from his hand, you gently pushed your sword against his neck, claiming victory.
“This battle is over, and I’m the winner.” You managed to pant out, as you lowered your sword, moving away to pick his sword up and handing it back to him.
“I can’t believe I lost that battle... But I don’t plan on going back on my words. You want to know why I’ve been acting so weird lately? Fine, I’ll tell you. But I’ll only tell you once, so listen up, alright?” He practically demanded the last part. His cheeks were slightly tinted, whether that was from him being out of breath or not, you couldn’t tell.
You nodded, almost too eagerly as you smiled at him. “Yes, please do tell me. If I didn’t want to know I wouldn’t have given it my all just now.”
He nodded and sighed, looking away from you for a moment, to regain his breath, before he looked back at you, making eye contact. “I’ve developed feelings for you. I like you, alright? I like how you fight, I like that annoyingly cute smile of yours and how determined you are to do the things you want to do. You never hold back, this training session just now proves that much.” His face was definitely red as he confessed his feelings to you. He looked so vulnerable. It was cute honestly, and his confession, although nothing romantic, meant a lot to you, as you’d been harbouring feelings towards him for quite some time as well.
He turned away and hurriedly spoke, “Well, that’s all. So I’ll be on my way now.” he quickly started to walk away from you.
“Wait a second!” Your eyes widened, as you went to catch up with him.
“What, is there a problem?” He asked, frowning at you.
“Yes, there is! You didn’t let me respond. I like you too, Felix. I’m glad you feel the same way about me. I was so worried that I somehow offended you. I wasn’t expecting for this to be your reason, but I’m really happy.” You smiled gently at him, he looked at you with slight shock, surprised to know that his feelings were returned.
“Oh... Well, in that case... Maybe you’d like to consider... dating me?” He asked, with a small smile on his lips.
You nodded and gently held his hand, “I’d love to, Felix.”

Hello! I'd like to leave a request if I may! Could I request a Male!Reader crushing on Linhardt please? Reader is probably the coolest dude in school, but doesn't know how to go about talking/confessing to the sleepy nerd. Poor guy probably asks for help on how to confess, who they ask, what and how that advice goes is up to you! Thank you for your time! 💕
Consider it done and done, my friend!
~
“(Name), please, I’m serious, you’ve got to teach me your ways,” Sylvain pleads. You shrug your shoulders.
“Honestly, Sylvain, I don’t know where you’re coming from. I wouldn’t call myself the ‘Coolest of Garreg Mach,’” you scoff. Sylvain laughs.
“Ha! You might not, but you’re on the top of almost every student in school’s list!” His jaw drops.
“Hi, (Name)!” A female student calls. You shot a wink toward the incoming student, not surprised by their immediate blush which was followed by an excited whisper toward her friends. Sylvain looks at you with a raised eyebrow and an ‘I told you so’ expression.
Okay maybe you were the coolest guy in school. But that still doesn’t erase the fact that there was that one person who you could never speak clearly to.
“Well, Mr. Coolest of Garreg Mach, there’s gotta be a special lady you’ve got your eye on, eh?” He probes. You roll your eyes.
“For the last time, Sylvain, I don’t have any woman in mind.”
I mean, you’re technically not lying. Then, just as the Goddess willed it, you happened to cross paths with the thief of your heart. And… Oh gods, is he falling?!
“Linhardt!” You shout, lunging forward and catching him. Then, you swear you felt your heart stop.
‘Oh my goddess this is actually happening. Is this really Lin? IT IS. OKAY. DO NOT DROP HIM, (NAME), DO NOT DO IT.’
“Hey, (Name), are you…” Sylvain paused. “Ho… ly… shit.”
“Sylvain help me I don’t know what to do.”
“Uh, why not put him down?”
“On the cold floors? That’s cruel, Sylvain.”
“Okay, um, put him on that bench over there.”
“Right.” Linhardt was a lot lighter than you expected him to be, which in a way sent you in a frenzy because good goddess has he been eating right? Either way, you and Sylvain found yourselves on the parallel bench, with you taking deep breaths. “Be still my beating heart…”
“Man, you have got it bad,” Sylvain laughs. “No wonder you always told me you didn’t have a girl in mind.”
“Yeah… yeah…” You nod. “Sylvain, I’m going to ask you this and I need pure, honest advice.”
“Uh huh.”
“How do I tell him?”
“That you like him?”
“Yeah.”
“Well make sure he’s awake first,” Sylvain jokes. The intense stare made his laugh fall into silence. “Okay, okay. What I would do in this situation is that I’d probably get him a nice pillow or something, then tell him something sweet. Linhardt seems like a good guy when he’s attentive.”
“Okay, yeah, I’ll try that,” you nod. “I’ll just wait for him to wake up.”
“Good idea, lad, alright, I’m gonna go,” Sylvain claps your shoulder.
“Wait you’re seriously not just going to leave me, right?”
“Well it looks like you’ve got this in the bag, (Name), trust me, everything will go smoothly.”
“Sylvain, wait, no-”
“Later!” Sylvain books it, leaving you sitting on the bench. Then, a groggy yawn grabs your attention. He looks around and sits up on the bench, looking slightly confused.
“L-Linhardt!” You scramble from your seat and move next to him. “Y-You passed out in the hallway, so I moved you over here, I hope you don’t mind.”
“It’s fine, thank you.”
“No problem!” You say loudly. Maybe a bit too loudly.
“I’m going back to sleep.”
“Wait!” You grab onto his arm. Linhardt looks at you.
“Yeah?”
“Uh… Well, I was wondering if you’d like to join me for…”
“For…?”
“Some tea!” Is what you were supposed to say, but instead it came out as: “Some beats!”
“Uh… you’d like me to go with you to choir practice?”
“Yes! Wait, oh gods, no… I’m sorry, I meant to say tea,” you cover your eyes in embarrassment, which only got worse when you heard Linhardt laugh.
“Sure, tea sounds nice.”
“Really?”
“Yes, though I’ll have to raincheck for later,” Linhardt stretches his arms above his head. “Come catch me again later, Mr. ‘Coolest in Garreg Mach.’“
“Oh, not you too,” you sigh. Linhardt smiles lazily at you.
“Later, (Name).”
“Bye,” you watch him leave. Once he’s fully gone you jump up and down, patting yourself on the back and making a little victory shout.
~
“Yeah, I like him,” Linhardt smiles warmly. Caspar looks over his shoulder.
“Who, (Name)?”
“Yeah…”
“Why?”
“He lets me nap instead of waking me up.”
“That’s it,” Caspar groans.
“Well, there’s more, but that’ll have to wait, good night.”
“It’s… it’s midday, Linhardt… Linhardt…?”
“Zzz…”
“Good luck to, (Name),” Caspar looks over to watch as (Name) let out a howl of… what is that, excitement? Whatever. Linhardt seems to like him a lot, which is all that matters in the end, right?
~
Edit (9/17/2019): The saga [continues]!
