Launching of 11th International Documentary Film Festival Noida 2023
Noida: “Documentaries are an important medium of storytelling that has the power to inform, educate, inspire, and provoke thought among audiences. They provide a unique perspective on various subjects and issues, shedding light on lesser-known or underrepresented topics. Documentaries have the potential to capture the essence of real-life events and convey emotions, making them a powerful tool for social and political change,” said Dr, Sandeep Marwah Chancellor of AAFT University and President of IDFF on the launching of 11th International Documentary Film Festival Noida at Marwah Studios.
“Documentaries can serve as a record of history, capturing significant events and movements that may have gone unnoticed or misrepresented in mainstream media. They can also bring attention to important social and environmental issues, such as climate change, poverty, human rights, and animal welfare. Documentaries can give a voice to marginalized communities, amplify their struggles, and bring awareness to their stories,” expressed Rahul Rawail renowned film maker from Mumbai while lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Moreover, documentaries offer a platform for filmmakers to showcase their artistry and creativity, as well as push the boundaries of traditional storytelling techniques. Through interviews, narration, and visual storytelling, documentaries can provide a deeper understanding of complex issues and provoke reflection and discussion among audiences,: added Chaitanya Padukone film maker and film journalist from Mumbai.
Raza Haider, Documentary Filmmaker, Syed Mahmoud Nawaz, Documentary Filmmaker, Dr. Lavlin Thadani, Filmmaker & Author, Rajesh Badal, Sr. Journalist, RSTV also contributed in the discussions. A poster of Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi was released during the session to mark respect to this great journalist of India.
Shalu Chopra, Asst Prof. AAFT School of Mass Communication & Journalism conducted the program. Vote of thanks was presented by Sushil Bharti, Director Broadcasting. Later Dr. Marwah honoured all the dignitaries with Life Membership of International Journalism Centre and presented Festival Mementos.
